Pride of Maui Review

We did the sunset dinner cruise. Overall, decent sunset dinner for a price that's less than others.
Five stars for the sea environment, sunset and weather.
Three stars for the service and food.

Their dock location was not in Google maps. Also you have to park in some other private parking. Even though we mentioned vegetarian option during booking, they forgot to include any main courses in the menu. So we had only roasted veggies and a dessert. Drinks were ok. Staff were helpful in taking nice photos. Had a lot of space for everyone in the upper deck. Cruise was clean. Had enough privacy for couples.

My husband and I had a great time; would definitely recommend this company! The staff were amazing, the views were beautiful, and we were well fed. As a bonus, we were able to whale watch on our tour.

Definitely worth the money. The food and drink was decent, the music was great and the view and experience was excellent.

Pride of Maui Snorkel Cruise March 8, 2018
This was the best excursion of our trip and the best snorkel cruise we have ever done. We would recommend it. The staff were pleasant and very efficient. They reminded us to bring towels and a change of clothes if we wanted to shower. They provided sunscreen free to anyone who did not bring reef safe sunscreen with them.
We drove ourselves down to the marina and found free parking at the lot for the Aquarium. We checked and they said it was okay to park there. It was a short walk down to the end pier where our boat was moored. There were a lot of workers ready to check us in and there was coffee while we waited to board. It was very good coffee and it was nice to have it since it was so early.
They handed out snorkel masks as we boarded. The complimentary breakfast was already waiting and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was, fresh fruit, muffins, cake, croissants, juice and more good coffee. They gave us a short talk while we ate and explained things. Unfortunately, the waves at Molokini were too high that day and it was not safe, so we would have to go elsewhere to snorkel. We were disappointed but this was not their fault. Then they handed out the snorkel fins and gave special instructions to those people that wanted to Snuba. We did not.
The snorkeling was great. We saw a lot of beautiful fish. One of the other people we talked to saw sea turtles and a puffer fish even. The staff were always close by, watching over us so we did not stray too far, and one was even in scuba gear in case it was needed. They made you sign in when we went back to the boat to make sure no one got left behind. Good thinking.
Lunch was very good. We had hamburgers and hot dogs and pasta salad. They were very efficient in serving and catering to our needs. Then we went on another snorkel trip at a spot near the tunnel. It was another good snorkel and the time flew by quickly.
Back on board we had to sign in again. Then they broke out the free drinks. They made a mean mai tai and the beer was good. The free drinks were only available after the snorkeling was all done, for safety reasons. I would definitely recommend this tour and I would do it again.

My heart sank a little as soon as we got on the boat because how crowded it was. It was super uncomfortable. But the staff was amazing and kind. I get motion sickness and what they make on board with actual ginger pieces, was so amazing! And incredibly helpful to my surprise! I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE that recipe if anyone has asked! I didn't think of asking.

Great trip. The tour guides were very helpful! They helped my parents enjoy the experience even though they had little experience with swimming/snorkeling

This was the worst part of our vacation. There was a drunk wedding party that was so loud we had to take our kids out in the wind and cold. The food was so bad we made dinner reservations while still on the boat. Not a place to take kids!!! The pic I attached is of a burrito on the deck but burritos weren't served.

Want a crew that acts too cool, not helpful. Moore s the boat in the marina and staff still on board is singing (tone deaf). This is the cruise you don t want

Good service and nice staff. Great food and drinks, relaxing tour.

Company decides to give us a 2 hour heads up before cancelling our snorkeling trip. I understand it was up to the captain and he didn t want to go out because he thought it wasn t good snorkeling weather.. but it wasn t even raining just a bit cloudy in some parts of the sky. At least give us a days heads up so i don t waste an entire day of my freaking vacation. The trip was for 1pm and we were notified of the cancellation at 11am... horrible.

We did multiple excursions with this company while we were in maui and they were awesome experiences. The staff was very friendly and helpful and there food options were good. Highly recommended them for all of your maui excursions

The tour to Molokini crater was great! Turtle town was even better (although I wish we would have spent more time there)! I swam side-by-side with about 5 turtles. Lastly, my friends and I were extremely impressed by the service. The workers were all very welcoming and nice! Yes, it is pretty expensive, but I still recommend snorkeling at both of these locations and also taking the trip out with Pride of Maui.

My husband and I did the snorkel tour to Molokini and Turtle Town. We had a great experience and enjoyed our time snorkeling at both locations! We saw many different types of fish as well as turtles at the second location. Lots of comfortable seating on the boat, they provide reef safe sunscreen and serve a nice breakfast and hearty lunch on board. We would definitely do it again!

I was charged even after the fact that my reservation had been canceled .
I have been trying to get a hold of them for weeks and and they will not call or email me back.

Where else can you slide down a water slide into a volcanic crater then havea mai tai ? Only one THE PRIDE OF MAUI ROCKS

The only way to get around by boat! The biggest thing that stood out was the crew who were especially nice and tentative. The burger was amazing. The meat was so scrumptious. Sounds silly but it's the little things that count. They aren't #1 for nothing; they are not only talented in the grill but they are extremely knowledgeable of all things snorkel, snuba and scub but they can show you all the sights of Molokini and Turtle Bay in their sleep. Thank you for adding to my fondest memories of Maui!

I took two tours with this group. The whale watch and snorkel tour (3/5/18) was a serious disappointment. We spent almost 2 hours at the snorkel location anchored there and the rest of the time was spent commuting to and from that spot. The only "whale watching" we did was a very short stop on the way to the snorkel place where we saw 1 whale doing some cool things. We only watched it for <5 minutes and then headed off to the snorkel location. Because it was so short, and the tour was promoted as 2 hours whale watching and 1 hour snorkeling, I was incredibly disappointed to discover the rest of the time we burned just sitting at the snorkel location. Food was fine and the crew was nice, but don't book this tour expecting it to be a whale watching tour, it is a snorkel tour. My second tour with them was supposed to be Molokini crater and Turtle town snorkeling (3/7/18). Unfortunately due to weather we couldn't go to Molokini... and ended up going to the same place as the first tour! As if I hadn't seen enough of that place already. Can't really blame them for bad weather, but just felt like rubbing salt in the wound. Again, crew was fine, and I really liked seeing all the sea turtles up close, overall this was a less disappointing trip. 3 stars because the second trip I'd give 4 and the first trip I'd give 2.

Snubba is a must do! Also visited the back side of Molokini (amazing treat). Whale watching and good food!

Amazing trip! The staff were phenomenal and it was a great trip. Our 5 year old had the best time and it was primarily due the staff's attention. Highly recommend.

Best snorkeling trip on the Leilani!
Corky helped us make our reservations the day before the trip and was so kind and accommodating. I knew I was speaking with a person who truly cared about our time and experience.
Our crew was so amazing from the time we arrived in the harbor until the time we left. The captain took us to Turtle Town first to avoid all the other boats going to Molokini, which was the best idea. The water wasn't crowded with other snorkelers and it just again proved that we were with people who truly cared about our experience. The entire trip was relaxed and fun thanks to our amazing crew.
Lunch was the most delicious pulled pork sandwiches, pineapple cole slaw, pasta salad, and veggies. No cheap sandwiches here. And the open bar was well enjoyed on the way back to the harbor.

If you're going to book a snorkeling tour, this is THE ONE!

Great helpful crew and good overall experience. Couldn t get to the Molokini crater due to bad weather. Did snorkel at the coral gardens. Photos taken while snorkelling are a bit pricey though.

Went on a snorkeling excursion to Molokini Crater and Turtle town. The staff is helpful. There's a quick 5 minute snorkeling lesson for beginners if needed. The snorkeling equipment was good i.e not old. Variety of floatation devices available for different levels. Overall there is a safe feeling. The breakfast is just basic muffins and fruits. The lunch was bbq hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken, with other sides.

Great experience. The crew took great care of everyone and they have their service down to a science. They have a wide variety of options to explore the reefs whether you re comfortable swimming in open water or not. All ages would feel comfortable. Extremely enjoyable trip, would recommend for anyone.

Highlight of our trip. Service was amazing. Super well organized. Everyone was really friendly, patient, helpful and kind. Plenty of food and drinks. Equipment was great. Took us on a detour when whales showed up. Great experience overall.

My whole family had a blast on the Pride of Maui. We were able to charter the boat at the perfect time of day, and we enjoyed hours of the beautiful Hawaii scenery together. I think we'll be chartering them again someday.

Had an incredible time going to Molokini! All of the employees were kind, knowledgeable, and energetic! The unlimited Mai Tais were delicious and they were quick to respond when my mother got terribly motion sick. Overall a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it when visiting Maui!

Captain was very nice to meet. The dancers/bartenders/servers were so very nice. Completely entertaining in their dancing, explained traditions of the islands as they related to the dance and or demonstration presented

Best snorkel dive ever. Great dive locations, the crew anticipated what we needed almost before we knew it ourselves. Cook out food was fresh and delicious. It didn't hurt that they served my favorite Maui brew either.

This review can go a few ways. Turtle island made this trip. If I wasn't able to swim with the turtles it was like paying for lunch in q boat. The snorkel equipment very sub par I would suggest renting from a snorkel company before going that provides quality product. This was my first snorkel trip and was not impressed the first spot they take you might as well snorkel off the beach get to see the same things less the hour boat ride. If you can find a snorkel trip that takes you to turtle island go that route and save the money.

Everything from start to finish was first class. The Captain and crew were all friendly helpful and informative. You don t see customer service like this very often. Well done.

We decided to bite the bullet and get up early for your Molokini and Turtle Town early morning excursion, and I have to say that your tour was by far our favorite experience on our Maui vacation and totally worth the 6am wake up! The weather was absolutely fantastic, and our family enjoyed every minute of it. Your boat is absolutely gorgeous, and our kids loved the glass bottom. Thank you to your staff for being so accommodating, we will be back!

Although the weather and view conditions could have been better we can strongly recommend taking a tour with these guys. Great people and great amenities on board!

Loved this snorkel option becuase it was available in the afternoon and for short trips. One person in our party doesn't like to snorkel so going on an all day excursion didn't seem fun. So we did the afternoon tour which was only about 3.5 hours. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because online it says "weather permitting" they can go to Molokini. It was an absolutely perfect, calm day and we didn't go there. I realize we were not guaranteed that, but I think that it shouldn't be listed as an option for the tour. Overall, it was great and really easy/fun!

We did the morning snorkel tour, and the next day had our wedding on the boat! Amazing experience on both, and they were perfect throughout the whole wedding process. Annie started the booking and was always available, Peggy came in with help with the license etc and was great as well. The crew on the boat was perfect and so welcoming and friendly. I would give them 100 out of 5 stars if possible! Absolute first class experience!!

We booked the Molokini and Turtle Town snorkel and it was a great experience. The crew was great, personable, and professional. The locations for snorkelling were great and both unique and different from each other. The lunch was also very good and very filling. AND there were complimentary drinks after the snorkels on the way back! Overall it was a great trip and I would recommend them to others looking to see some turtles.

Hands down the best boat tour on Maui. The boat was nice, the staff was great, they provided breakfast, BBQ lunch and even cocktails!

Great food and friendly staff however we were very disappointed with the entertainment. The cruise is 2 hours but the entertainers were sitting around and eating etc and maybe played an hour total. We have gone on several where the music was incredibly entertaining and fun. We bragged about how fun our last two cruises were and brought 10 friends with us only to be disappointed.

Awesome Experience! Great crew and great food. Enjoyed the snorkeling and saw so many whales. One even swam under the boat!

We took the Molokini island and Turtle Town Delux snorkel and swim. It included breakfast, lunch, and reef safe sunscreen. Most other tours have you bring your own sunscreen. We also did the Snuba upgrade. This was one of the best excursions we have ever done. The staff was top notch. Snuba instructor was patient and reassuring. The girls on the boat were super helpful. Everyone was there to make sure we had a good time, and we did. After all the snorkeling was done they opened the bar. Rum and Coke, Mai Taos, and 3 Hawaiian beers, 2 of which were awesome! We left the harbor at 8, and we're back by 1. We had well over 2 hours in the water, which was much longer than we are used to on other snorkeling excursions. The coral and fish life were amazing. Don't forget to take cash. They definitely earned a generous tip from us.

We went on the crater/turtle town tour. Unfortunately, due to weather, we couldn't go to the crater, which was the whole reason we booked the $200 (for 2) trip. The two spots we went to weren't any better than the snorkeling we did off the beach by our resort. The Continental "breakfast" was a little fruit and a small muffin. Warm shower was nice. I don't know about the gear, as we brought our own.

Lunch was mediocre, as they ran out of pasta salad and veggies before we got through the line (seriously?!) and there was still quite a few people after us. All we ended up with was a medium sized cold burger. The trip was CROWDED, even for "off" season. The only thing that kept us from being totally annoyed was the open bar. DO NOTE... The open bar is only open the last hour of the trip.. though we were able to each get 3 beers but drinking semi quickly.

Would it have been worth it if we had gone to the crater? Maybe... We still haven't been there to tell.... But I feel like if we come back someday to try the crater again, we'll pick another boat.

Everyone was so friendly. The captain took us on a little detour to follow some whales which was totally awesome. He was very knowledgeable and explained the whale migration process to us. Due to the high winds, we were not able to visit the actual location. But they did take us to two snorkeling spots and we still had a great experience. We saw a crystal blue sea, whales, sea turtles, colorful fish, and coral. A great day in my book .

Awesome trip. About 4 hours of being on the boat, snorkeling, drinking and eating(open bar and free barbecue included in price) and seeing the sights. Great value for the experience and the crew was professional and laid back. Will for sure do it again.

We went on the dinner cruise with them and it was awesome. I would highly recommend this dinner cruise over any other on Maui.

The crew was awesome and super friendly, the trip itself though fell very short of expectations. The crater was a cool sight, but the snorkeling was nothing to write home about, it was clear, but we saw more fish, different varieties, and overall better snorkeling at Ka'anapali and Makena right off the beach with no hour long boat ride.

After the crater we drove for 30 mins to our next stop...Turtle Town....Just to have the captain say his buddies text him and said it was 10ft visibility and so we just rode 30 min back to the crater - no different backup? (Again, luckily we saw tons of turtles at Ka'napali and Makena without the expensive excursion) Then it was an hour back to the harbor and the ride was done at 1pm, not the advertised 2pm time....And we didn't do any whale watching. I definitely felt robbed for $95/person.

I would say for snorkeling - stick to the popular beaches and rent your gear and you'll see more that way. Not missing out on much here - seems to be WAY over hyped to get people to go pay to get out there.

Fun! Staff amazing! Didn t see turtles but enjoyed the scuba diving. Food good and plentiful. Snuba doesn t get you that much closer to sea life but fun to try once. Saw many colorful fish. Will do again.

Went on the dinner cruise one night. Then, snorkeling the next morning. The food was good and the snorkeling spots were amazing. I definitely recommend doing the snorkeling if you can.

We did the snorkel tour of the volcano and turtle town. I had never been in open ocean. Crew was great, we felt safe, and they were friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast, grilled burgers and dogs, and drinks on the ride back to shore. Fun time.

We snorkeled at Molokini crater and turtle town. It was so much fun!! One of the favorite things my husband and I did on our honeymoon.

They serve you breakfast, lunch and unlimited mai tais on the trip back. I suggest you check on early and get a seat up top on the outside so you can actually see! There were a couple kids, but not too many.

The whale watch/snorkeling trip is a great value. The boat can be a little crowded but the crew is is quite helpful and friendly and does a good job moving the crowd in to the water at the snorkel spot. We went to Molokini which was fun though it was hard to swim around without bumping in to other folks.

We had an amazing time! Wonderful team and wonderful views. It was one of the highlights from our Maui trip.

It goes where the other tours go...so take your pick and haggle :-) it's a 45 minute ride to a Molokai crater....it's a 30' depth, with Crystal clear water, but not that many fish. Then of to turtle town which is 30 min ride...again 30 feet of water and with some luck turtles, we got to see 2 big ones before the waves picked up 4 to 6 foot swells....didn't matter for snorkeling, but getting back onboard was tricky, the crew was awesome and helpful. Lunch was served it was a burger...pretty damn good IMHO...all in all a great tour....do it for deep water snorkeling with lifeguards...water temp was refreshing to get in, but not cold (July) no need for wetsuit...even when they say so....also get a red light filter for your GoPro....it's gonna make your videos look more lifelike....lastly get a rash guard shirt...also get A rash guard....it will save you from sunburn

This was my second time on the Pride of Maui and I still highly recommend! Molokini is such a beautiful place to snorkel, Turtle Town too! We went in mid March and also saw lots of whales on the ride over! The staff is so nice and professional. Great narration of the trip and instruction on how to have the best time on the tour! All the gear is sanitized and in good shape. Plus the food and drinks are top notch!

We took a whale watching and snorkeling sailing. The snorkeling was good, saw fishes and the coral was hard to see colors due to time of the day, the sea was a little wavy. Saw two whales, whale tails and dolphins. Great outing, great weather, the crew on board were even better. Took great care of the passengers on board and while we were in water. 2nd day of an early season opening of whale watching.

I have done two tours with this company and would recommend to others. They are both professional and laid back. The guides are helpful and keep an eye out for you. This is an adventure that you don't want to miss! Mahalo!

definitely book with these folks when looking for a great snorkel adventure. such a friendly staff. they provided a really fun expedition. the captain would make sure to slow down every time there was a whale nearby (which happened often.) he was intent on making sure the experience was not rushed. we even had a whale right up by the boat! they also helped us find turtles when we went to turtle town.

lunch was very good and they even had a veggie burger option which i didn t expect.

My wife and I went on a snorkeling tour with this company out to the Molokini Crater and to Turtle Town. Wow! One of the best experiences. The crew is well experienced and very kind. They're all so helpful and made us feel 100% safe. The snorkel gear, including fins, they provide are great quality. The lunch they provide was really good, and their drinks are also very tasty! The captain of the boat knows exactly where to take people for the best snorkeling experience. The boat is also very spacious and clean. My husband and I saw about 10 different sea turtles at Turtle Town, as well as a huge manta ray swimming around the boat as we were boarding. We also saw a big sting ray swimming along the bottom of the ocean at the Molokini crater. Absolutely incredible and would definitely use this company again!

The day we were supposed to go on our dinner cruise, I received a phone call saying the trip was cancelled due to "trade winds." The weather was beautiful that day, not windy and we saw other dinner cruises go out that evening with no problem at all. This was toward the end of our trip, so rescheduling was not possible. While we received a full refund, it was the 1 thing we were so looking forward to and had booked months in advance. Didn't get enough people? Short on staff?? At least be honest.
Disappointed to say the least.

This is a great snorkeling trip. Kid friendly, great food, and great staff!! We stopped by Molokini Crater and then Turtle Town.

This is by far the best tour company I've ever had the pleasure of going with and I highly recommend! When the weather was bad they gave us options including rebooking or getting a full refund - completely reasonable considering that they don't have control over the weather. The crew was very genuine and communicative - a complete joy to be around. Food was really good and open bar was a major plus. The captain made sure we had the best snorkeling experience and the lifeguards always made sure that we were comfortable. Make sure you bring cash for wet suits and tips at the end!

I want to preface this description by saying that I choose the Pride of Maui because I a large number of people I was traveling with were going on a snorkeling trip on the boat.

Location: Molokini crater
This is a snorkel factory. If you know anything about snorkeling you will likely be annoyed with the crew, this is designed to for people who nothing about diving. The boat rarely sees scuba divers. We rented all of our gear and it was some of the worst I have ever used. The first 3 tanks that I tried did not have enough pressure. They did not have wet suits for us, even though the promised us suits. The dive master told us he had not dove in 5 months. We had no dive computers, or watches. A little bit scary.
The dive was very nice but the dive master was a tool. He had screwed up his weight so he was picking up rocks to weigh himself down. He was too lazy or clumsy to stop his pressure gauges from dragging on the coral. We saw one small shark at the very end of the dive.

Location: Maui Shore
This was a very shallow and short dive. We were able to see four turtles and lots of eels. Our dive time was limited to the fact that we did not have a watch and had to be conservative, and the fact that the snorkel boat imposed a time limit on our dive time.
Avoid Pride of Maui at all costs!!

Awesome! Super fun and very interesting and informative astronomy! Astronomer Harriet uses a laser to show you exactly where to look. The captain and staff are exceptionally attentive. And generous booze!

Awesome time with this tour group to snorkel at turtle bay and molokini. The on board service was great and friendly. I loved every minute of my trip with Pride of Maui. I rate them highly for their dedication to a quality experience, good food and open bar drinks, saw a ton of whales!!!, last but not least, they make sure to keep an eye on your safety with multiple guides in the water with you and the kids. Thank you for a great time. Highly recommended!!!

Good, friendly people who know their stuff, and are focused on providing you a good time. The food is very good, and everyone is really friendly and helpful. The boat is clean, well maintained, and stable. The catamaran hull is your best shot for stability if you're prone to motion sickness. The two locations were excellent. Highly recommend.

Didn't get to go due to weather conditions but money was quickly returned. I respect their decision for safety.
