This store has every single type of tool and videographer or photographer would need! From cameras to drones all the way to prints. Everything is always usually in stock ready to go.The customer service can be a little off sometimes. No one is perfect but my overall experience from this store is very positive. I think if they worked on the customer service more consistently that would make me change my review to 5-stars easily!

Very helpful staff, good prices on used equipment. The only issue I had was the wait time for assistance with a trade in. Other than that, it was a great experience!

Great store and good selection, the only reason why it is not 5 stars is because I can better prices online. Not a huge deal and when I need something for a shoot that I can't get on time online this is the only place I shop.

More for photographers than video folks. They have a great selection but could definitely use more video gear! They often don't know what I'm asking about so they could also use a professional video person in there or two.

A family trip inspired my recent purchase of a Sony HX50 Ultra Compact Camera. After doing a little research of my own online, I went to Precision Camera after a failed attempt to find 'expert' advice at Fry's Electronics. In other words, I got cold feet and wanted to get a second opinion on my purchase. Naturally, I assumed a big box store like Fry's would provide a better price but, surprisingly, Precision had a better deal and an $80 rebate without the hassle of paperwork or an online form. Even better than the lower price, Precision employee, Curt, was an attentive and honest sales associate who patiently listened as I described the qualities I was looking for in my 'ideal' camera. For example, I wanted a compact point and shoot that was relatively lightweight, but I worried about the glare of the sun on the LCD screen. Curt let me take a few of the models outside to ensure that the screen was visible, even with the sun to my back. The ability to use and handle the camera before purchasing made me feel 100% better about my decision. I could not have asked for a better experience at Precision. With my purchase, I received a voucher for a free photography intro class onsite. Also included was a coupon for a set of 4x6 prints (they have photo printing services onsite as well). For professional photographers and hobbyists alike, Precision is a great store and community in Northern Austin.

A great store for browsing both the high-end amateur and professional offerings for both camera and video. Expect an open atmosphere similar to an Apple Store, without the attitude or throngs of hipsters. Experienced staff lend credo to recommendations where the web woefully falls short. The service department can also clean sensors (yay!) as well as buy older versions of DLSRs without the annoyance of Craigslist.

I usually have good experiences with these guys. Knowledgable and helpful.

I sent my Sony Ay II to Precision Camera on July 25 and received my camera back on August 3. I was really worried I wouldn't get my camera back in time for my camping trip, but that just was not the case. Great turnaround and great customer service. I paid for the repair over the phone instead of by email to ensure a quicker repair time. I love how you can check the status of your camera with a tag code online. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because it did take a few times to get in touch with someone in customer service.

Great location for any and all camera gear. New. Used. The people here seriously know their stuff and are passionate about photography. They will not be the cheapest at all. But all the quality models and the pro knowledge are worth the extra money

Great selection of photo equipment and supplies, but it seems like their prices are a bit high. These days there's not a lot of competition or choice when you need a camera store. They do have a bit of everything, though, from new and used cameras, to lenses and chemicals, for those who like to develop at home.

Very friendly staff and well stocked. We were in town for a shoot and these guys had some things we needed very last second.

Great selection of gear if you need something last second. Unfortunately the sales people are a little pushy and only slightly more knowledgeable than electronic store employees. Got argumentative when I didn't want to buy a $100 lens filter that does nothing better than any other filter or an extended warranty (focused on selling overpriced items vs making recommendations that were useful). Prices are also a little high on used gear. I have heard good things about them arranging events and getting involved with the local community, but I have not seen any of that first hand. They get stars for selection, but they still did not have everything we were looking for.

Horrible customer service! Hey salesperson behind the counter, if a person walks up they're usually looking for a hello and some help. I'll buy my equipment elsewhere. Update: I want to update my review slightly. Since the first review, I have been into Precision a few times to buy equipment. My recent ventures to the store have been better than the first. But, I haven't seen the initial salesperson and it doesn't excuse his actions. So to be fair. I'm changing my rating from 1 Star to 4 Star.

Super friendly and really really good customer service

If you're any kind of techno geek, you will enjoy this place. Every camera and gadget is available here including knowledgeable and friendly staff. They host several events and offer classes. Lots of high end equipment if you can afford it. Lose yourself in aisles of gadgetry.

They have had almost everything I have ever needed for my cameras here. There have been a few times where I was let down, but for most general purposes if you needed it they probably got it. The service is fantastic, and there is also a student discount if you have your student ID with you. Prices can be a little bit high sometimes.

Good selection of cameras and accessories. Decent prices. Can get busy and a bit nm impersonal from time to time. No Pentax carried in store any more. Back to online shopping I guess.

Been going here for years! They have a friendly knowledgeable staff that will go out of their way to help you. I would rather buy here than online. The only reason I only gave 4 stars is because they don t carry Pentax!

Pricey but good. By far the best selection of photography gear in Austin. If you need an odd size filter or a good strobe or photo backdrop look no further. Just be prepared to pay the price for that convenience. Still, if you need good equipment and you need it now, this is the place.

The one and only pro shop for all types of photographers. Great prices very completive with Amazon and NY.Tell them what price you found and see if they can match or get close to it. Great repair department especially Noel. Gentle and great go to guy for questions when your camera gets sick.

Expensive but if any place will have something locally they will plus have the expertise to help properly.

By far the best camera in Austin. Great for looking at cameras and other photo equipment. Sometimes I wish the lighting stuff was easier to look at but otherwise they are great. The staff are very knowledgeable too.

They not only carry the popular brands and accessories, from entry level to accomplished professional, from the first click to framing the final product, but they know their stuff and are happy to help. There are so many products to choose from that it's easy to strike up a conversation with the next person about what camera they use, portraits vs landscapes, favorite photo... you get the idea. There are popular restaurants in the same strip center and plentiful parking as well.

Roofied with Precision Went in to purchase a used camera body. Richard waited on me. I can't prove it, but I'm fairly certain he roofied me. When I woke up , I had not only bought the used nikon camera body, I walked out with another 2k of glass and gear. Great service and phenomenal inventory selection. Richard knows cameras and was great to work with.

I always feel like an idiot when I go here. While the staff is nice, the sheer amount of gear, and their holistic knowledge of all of it, is quite intimidating. Always appreciate their help!
