Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino Review

We visited the casino and had a great time. Everything was exceptionally clean and the people were really friendly. Overall great experience and will be back in the future.

Just loved this place can't wait to get back if your passing through its a must stop for a visit

This place is the worst ever. Sunk 3600.00 in this place and it did not pay out anything. One of the worst stinky smoking casinos I have ever been to.

Was up for the Kentucky Derby. Food, drinks, and staff were great.

Had a very good time, except for when I visited the gift shop-woman made me feel as though she thought I had came in to steal something.

Nice place, kind of busy, just was there for the casino and some drinks but overall was a good time staff are quick and responsive, then explain Casino rules if you're not super familiar with them as I wasn't

The Prairie Meadows Convention Center is a beautiful space. The presentation of the room and forod was exceptional. The non-profit event got me excited about the future of the Metro. All in all, an amazing event at a beautiful location.

Wouldn't come pick me up from truck parking. Guess they don't need my money.

Room was great and fun place to stay on a live racing night in the summer.

I like it cuz it's close by and I like to play slots every now and then. Disappointed my free play is suddenly a lot less but what do ya do.

Beautiful Christmas lights! Great overnight parking for big trucks and RVs. Great location

Enjoyed the horse and hot dog races today. The slots are too tight for winnings.

I attended a breakfast meeting at the casino. The food and service was fantastic. Lots of options for food and the set up for our meeting was nice as well.

Prairie Meadows is a convenient location to gamble if you live in des Moines. It has a nice variety of games, is clean, and easy to get in and out. I've never heard of anyone really winning there though and it can seem tight.

This hotel is a hidden gem in the area. Very clean and comfortable. A little pricey but worth it as they have all the amenities of a full service hotel. Only place I stay when in Altoona.

Huge casino with latest slot machines. Hotel rooms large, clean, include weather recliner-desk-flat screen TV-nice beds & shower. I'm a returning customer even though a 3 hr drive for me, usually spend night an enjoy. Also race track open in summer, next door to adventureland plus several restaurants & fast food. They have several food/restaurants in the casino/hotel.

Decent casino. Helpful staff. Allows overnight parking for RVs. Tons of food options.

Used to like this place alot more. It is hard to find a machine as alot of them are the same or $1 machines. Liked it alot better before they changed everything

The facilities were nice and service was good. There was construction going on at the time, but it did not disrupt our event.

This casino is huge I loved it. There is always concerts here too. Great time.

I use to go in there and come out a few dollars ahead now I don't. Won't be going there for awhile.

Wife and I went to the buffet for Valentine's day and weren't told about the price difference until after they swiped my card. We were disappointed since it is normally $17.99 and then we paid $63

Security guard I encountered was clearly poorly trained, and just looking for displays of machoism. Turned me off of ever returning. Food was good I guess.

Good casino, horsetrack, etc. Casino floor is large and updated. Simulcast could use a revamp though.

Pleasant environment. All sorts of amenities including gym, pool, restaurants, and of course the casino and race track. Went for the horse races, lost some money on the slot machines...all in all it was a good time.

We go often to the buffet and the food is always hot and good. Service is always impecable and the staff are friendly and attentive

It's obviously a casino. Don't take undo risk with your money. Though at the same time. If you win big it's a great little rush. Buffet, racing, and gambling. Family opportunities are there. Enjoy!

The help on the new sport betting was just terrible we were looking forward to doing this as we are from out of town
The staff help was just to pass you off till you got tired of standing in line at different areas
As for the free item to be received from the fair coupon was a joke to receive again all staff could do was send you to another line
