Go during happy hour, excellent food & you can't beat the view in the lounge. Dinner's pretty pricey but you're paying for the view & the food is good.

You can't beat the view! Food is superb! Staff is accommodating and have good knowledge of the menu. One of the best Happy Hours in the city! This place belongs on your itinerary!
Beautiful view and nice atmosphere, expect to spend a lot of money here but it's totally worth it, delicious food and wine
Fantastic up-scale dining in the heart of Portland. Breath taking views of the city scape, the Willamette river, and some of Portland's most iconic bridges. The food is expertly made and portioned. The flavours are amazing. For anyone visiting the city, highly recommend getting a reservation here one night.
We had an issue and the mgr called us immediately. He worked diligently to get to the bottom of it and found it was an honest mistake. He made it right with us. Highly recommend.
Good service, good happy hour food, beautiful views
Very good. The best burger I've eaten in the US, live music (a pianist note 10) is a prime view - on the thirtieth floor. I did not think it was just cool lighting (very dark) and the structure to accommodate so many people (the place is very frequented), they say to sit where we find a space ...
The green beans are to die for, along with the mashed potatoes. Great service, great food! Good place for B-days and Anniversaries!
The view was great but, for the plate's quantity it was too expensive
Come for a drink and the view and then go somewhere else for food.
Staff is very nice, the food is delicious and the view is spectacular. It so worth it to eat at this gorgeous restaurant
One of my top places. Service can't be beat. View of Portland is breath taking and food is great. If you have never been here try their Happy Hour. It will make you very HAPPY
Great food, wonderful vibe and feel. Warm tones and dark wood make this a lovely place to see the city after dark from high up.
Love the food and the view. The staff have always been great but more recently I visited and the booth we sat in, in the bar, near the window in the right hand side by the two person red table in the corner, smelled very strongly of urine. The group I was with psyched ourselves into ignoring the scent but it made eating our food a less than enjoyable.
After finishing our meal, we decided it would be a good idea to let our waitress know. Not to complain, but to provide feedback, so that she could share our experience with her leadership team. She told us, other patrons had mentioned the same thing and suggested we let the manager know. We hesitated but agreed.
When the manager came to the table, he acted oddly. He avoided eye contact and awkwardly paced back and forth, assuring us the smell was not urine and asked if we needed parking validated. When we told him we did not drive in, he proceeded to reiterate that if we should ever drive to the restaurant, that there was parking in the basement. He then asked if there was anything else he could help with at which we said there wasn't. He abruptly walked away.
We left satisfied with the meals but felt strongly that the smell was definitely urine. It smelled really really bad. I have NEVER smelled that in Portland City Grill before. It smelled like the Max train station at Union Station. Like a homeless campsite.
The Food was very very good, great service from Waiter, and they have City's best NY Steak. Should try
Great time. Great food. Good place for working lunch w amazing views
Nice view from 30th floor. Cuisine is pretty good as well. My favorite is ribeye steak aged for 36 days.
Amazing food and the prices aren't as high as I would expect for a place this nice.
View is stunning at night. Did not try the food but the cocktails were nice. Wish there was better signage when you enter the building to find your way to the restaurant.
Beautiful view and great catering for the event with wheat and dairy free options.
We had 10 people, the steaks, crab cakes, tempura shrimp, lobster mac and calamari were great, shrimp pasta was not so good, and the mushrooms seemed boiled
This is an amazing place to dine. The food was excellent. The view of the river was breathtaking and the vibe was outstanding! I had the best birthday dinner ever! With the love of my life.
This place has one of the best happy hours in the city. All believe the happy hour is all day on Sunday.
This place is on the 30th floor. Great rooftop bar. They had a live piano player on a Saturday afternoon.
The views from here are amazing. They have plenty of TVs to watch the game.
The bar area/right room is all open seating. The back area is reserved seating.
The food during happy hour is amazing. The drinks are strong and the fish and chips are a good snack.
Got to try it. It's the best view restaurant in Portland.
Great food, great happy hour menu.
Nice place for a romantic date and special occasions.
Wonderful spot for lunch. I mean how can you beat the view.
Amazing food, fantastic view, phenomenal staff. If you are in Portland, you need to visit Portland City Grill.
More of an upper class feel here. 30 floors up with views of the skyline of Portland. The drinks were decently priced for happy hour, but not the greatest.
Great view, fabulous food and very attentive service. You can do very well in just the pupus, great stuff. Plus the dinners are fab too.
Don't know which one but one of the bartenders was yummy
Nice place with an amazing view of the city. It's a little spendy. but very nice. I try to come here during happy hour so that I can get value out of my meal. It's nice & trendy. Service was great. Will come again when I'm in the area.
View is amazing, steaks are overpriced for quality. We were a party of 12 and waiter was not happy at all!
Breathtaking views, lovely environment, fabulous service and, last but not least, amazing food.
Beautiful views, nice atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. We tried the crab cakes (almost all crab), seafood soup, a sushi roll, and the fried tofu with vegetables. Everything was delicious. The staff was also very accommodating with a tree nut allergy. We were expecting a sub-par food experience with nice views and were pleasantly surprised with all aspects of the restaurant!
Great view - I'd only go for happy hour as it is expensive. The atmosphere is a bit stuffy however being Portland its unlikely you'll be turned away or even given a disapproving look if you deviate in style from what the place is going for. Great view aside I never care to come back during non-happy (sad) hours. The food just cost too much for the dining experience in my view.
Best view of Portland. Delicious Dungeness crab cocktail and Pomegranate Mojito. Must visit!
First time here and I loved it. Great food selection along with full bar and beautiful views of the city.
Always a delight! Best views and professional staff.
Stunning views, excellent food, and wonderful service. You can't ask for much more.
They have a good thing here. Views are top notch. Food is creative and tasty usually.
I ve been coming to PCG on my birthday annually since I was young, and in years past visited far more often. HH is 5-7PM and 9PM-Close. Dinner and Sunday brunch here are also fantastic. Overall for location (VIEW!) and menu, you get a decent value. Just decent though not as good a value as it was 2+ years ago, and not the best food or drinks in town for the price. Also the servers have nearly always fumbled the billing in some way. Several years ago they stepped their HH game up to remain competitive because the view alone isn t enough to attract people more than once or twice per year; I hope they get with it and step up again.
Great spot with a wonderful happy hour. Highly recommended.
Pretty good food, but the views and service are what sets it over the edge.
Love this place, it's a great place to take friends (from out of state) to have a great view of the city, plus happy hour has want I look for in a bar. Service is great and they have always good selection of beer
Great happy hour, awesome view, love the piano music. Service was well timed even though the place was packed!
Great view! The best happy hour. We had amazing service ! We just loved it. Jambalaya was really gooid!!
The Steelhead was excellent. The fish and chips were probably the best I have ever eaten. Excellent value and a great view.
Absolutely love the happy hour here. You'll have to get there early to get a good view unfortunately.
Interesting place to take out of towners for a great, panoramic view of Portland, as far as you can see. Overpriced drinks and food, but not unexpected given the location and view.
The view of the rest is just perfect. It's on the 30th floor of a building! Just amazing. And the food is obviously great.
Don't order the sushi, unless you need a good cleaning out! Went in for lunch on a Monday. Sushi obviously was not fresh, but I didn't listen to my gut feeling. Needless to say I paid a price . Granted fresh fish is expensive, but if you can't afford it, then take it off the menu!
i think of the portland city grill as one of those specific portland adventures you go on when friends come to town or if you're on a date with a new fella and you want to do a bunch of fun things over the course of an evening. think, perfect 1st date if the portland city grill is part of a list including the barcade and the swifts at sunset.
this is because it's not a place i'm going to go frequently. it's a little expensive, and hard to get seated in the locations that make it worth it... THAT said, it is about the adventure. in a sleepy little city like portland there's an excitement to going downtown, finding the elevators and buzzing to the top of the tallest building in the city. coming out into a scene from the 1980's pretty woman or ferris bueller. live piano music blares over conversation on that side of the bar, but it's amazing. you troll around the loop searching for a window seat. you prey on poor souls who look like they just miiight be leaving soon. but the payoff is big. you get to sit at window level above the entire city with a view that is to die for. classy drinks and surprisingly nice servers for such a nice place and for portland. we are known for our food, not our customer service here.
so i would say this is easily a 4 to 5 star establishment but 3 stars still rates in at "A-OK" which is what this place is for special occasions.
my advice here is to go for early or super late happy hour to make the menu affordable and the chances of getting a prime seat. take a date, have fun and enjoy the adventure that is the portland city grill!
go explore portlanders!
Great lounge, happy hour menu is perfect. Drinks were kind of weak but good.
You go for the view and the ambiance, the food is alright but nothing outstanding. I have been here multiple times and with a bill of $200 plus but not loving my food, I much prefer Jake's grill/seafood for am overall amazing experience plus food is consistent.
Nice city views. The food is horribly overpriced for the subpar quality. Just meh.
A little on the spendy side, but the most amazing view ever and fun for a special occasion.
Boyfriend and I stopped in and had a light lunch. Love the candied hazelnut gorgonzola apple salad.. And the strawberry rhubarb cider was tasty.. The duck fat French fries were so good we forgot to take pictures of those. The pcg burger was big enough to share..Always love the view
Great views but not the highest quality of food for the price.
Walk into the skyscraper through the revolving doors off of 5th Ave. The elevators are to the right, go to he 30th floor. You're there! A hell of a view and dn good cocktails.
Simply the best happy hour in town. The view is incredible. Top notch service by professionals. Great ambiance. Can t wait to go back.
Stunning views. Excellent service. Delicious food. Great for groups. Big wine selection. Huge bar.
I went to this restaurant years ago and it was spectacular. The food was delicious and the flavors just melted in your mouth. I enjoyed the view and the service from the wait staff. I will be going again very soon. The food is definitely worth the price.
Food was delicious and the view spectacular. Make reservations, go early, check in and ask for a table by the window. Expensive food but you won't be disappointed in it or the service.
Came here for a fancy anniversary night with my husband, sadly disappointed. Felt very rushed the entire time and our server was not personable at all, he made us feel out of place and like a burden to him. Seemed robotic. Food was good I guess but we took most of it to go as the table next to us was extremely loud and fighting at the table.
Strange & bad experience, won't ever be back.
