I was admitted last Monday with suspected Diverticulitis. Right from the start the medical staff in the emergency department were wonderful, had to wait a little bit for a bed to become available, but all good things take time.
A big thanks to the doctor , can't remember his name but was from Nigeria won't forget him for a while thanks to his rectal examination, wasn't to keen on that. Once on the ward B4 bed 4 I could not of been looked after any better all the nurses, Doctors, and even the tea, lady and cleaner were top class. Everything was run like a well oiled machine.you people do a wonderful job, a godforsaken one, for what I saw within that week.you all deserve a big pay rise. A really big thanks to Sarah really on the ball. One final mention is to the kitchen staff, everyone moans about the food, but to be honest I've had a lot worse, lots of choices, very healthy. Love to see what their diet is at home. Finally discharged on Sunday. With a big wake up call, total change of life style, and believe me for once in my life I'm listening.

Apart from parking which can be horrendous at times the hospital treatments are excellent and the staff go out of the way to be helpful and friendly. Give you confidence if nervous about the treatment you are going to receive

I can't thank the staff enough. I came in on Wednesday 10th August for surgery with Mr Carpenter and this team. His team are amazing. Anne Chalk came out of way to pop in and see before my surgery, after my surgery and before I left yesterday. Her care and compassion was amazing. I would also like to thank Leslie in main theatre, who came be down and held my hand until I feel a sleep. I hope her fingers are ok. I would like to thank the amazing staff in recovery and on ward b2. Your team of doctors and nurse are truly dedicated to there jobs and made my hospital stay a lot earlier. Thank you. Xxxx

Waited at home for a phone call from the hospital ...

Waited at home for a phone call from the hospital as advised by my GP as my wife could not stand or sit, so it's not advisable not to go directly to the hospital as the wait would have been too uncomfortable for her. 5 hours at home, and another 3 hours in hospital 'waiting' is unacceptable!!! I appreciate that it's difficult for them to do anything about this, however they could clean the place. Honestly, I wouldn't let my dog sit on the floor. Cigarets, dirt, food and god knows what else. It reminded me of a third world county waiting room! Clean the place up and make the wait a little more bearable pleae!!

Day 20/06/2019 HOUR 11:45 PM branch "ELMWOOD" (E1) MRS. CHINESE DOCTRINE OF ORIGIN
She behaved very badly and not responsibly! My son, accepted at the ward, at 9pm to 11.45 pm, we waited for the doctor who came and stated that a blood test must be done. By 3am we waited to hear that you are going home because there is no danger to your life for your son! Such a doctor should not work in a hospital
In this department is also terribly dirty And especially the kitchen and all the utensils there!

My daughter was seen in A&E for stomach pain and feeling unwell yesterday afternoon as advised by 111 due to her history with gallbladder complication. The very young doctor was absolutely brilliant very thorough and very experianced and professional Can t say much about my daughters gall bladders experiance 18months ago with another much older doctor, which left my daughter with zero trust with doctors as she was seeing the same one. She was very reluctantly to be seem by Poole yesterday. I am so relieved and feel great support for the staff as the fabulous doctor has regained my daughters and our trust back. The service was out of this world, due to the kind staff yesterday we mustn t forget the nurses, xray and path lab. And it was a weekend. A big big Thank you. Abbies mum

in 1974 my son was admitted to Poole general ( as it was then known) he was just 18 months old, my gp called the hospital told them his symptoms and Mr Simkiss who was the paediatric consultant came to my house in his own car!! after a long wait while he and his team worked on my son I was told he had chronic nephritis, I was so scared I was going to lose him, but thanks to the fantastic service of all the stall on ward B1 my son is now 42 and has 5 children of his own, but had I not got him to poole that day he could have died, so this hospital is the greatest, Lynne Fox.

Over the years I have had treatment for one thing or another but since Dec 2015 I was diagnosed with terminal cancer and since then I have been receiving treatment from the Dorset Cancer Centre based at Poole Hospital. I cannot fault the treatment, the caring and support that I have had and are still having at what I think is the best hospital definitely in Dorset and possibly in the UK. The amount of support I have since beginning my journey with cancer from numerous agencies has been fantastic and something I am really grateful for

I am forever greatful for the wonderful paramedics who tended to my boyfriend after he suffered DEEP LACERATIONS close to his spine. It is a god damned SHAME it took damn near 2 HOURS for him to be stitched up after I complained multiple times to the nurses that his bleeding had intensified (to which none of them even checked up on him). Oh and thank you for giving him paracetamol while he has an inch deep gaping hole in his body, that really touched the edges! Half expected a bloody cuppa to make the pain go away. Such a joke, poor overworked staff, it was only a wednesday night.

This rating is for Lytchett Ward quite the best ward in Poole hospital in my opinion and we have sampled several lately. Why do I score it this way? Its predominantly because the staff still LISTEN to patients and carers rather than being blinded and deafened by impossible targets. Thank you guys its all patients and carers want really in order to feel safe during their stay. The medical and nursing care was also excellent and we felt fully included in decisions.

Foul experience over the phone.

Foul experience over the phone.
Rude, uninformative, ignorant and un apathetic staff. Talked over me, ignored my questions and when I asked for the ladies name who spoke rude to me the phone put down! This was on the outpaitients telephone line between 3:30pm-4pm on 11/01/2016 and was apparently the 'team leader'

All I wanted to do was make an appointment to have my stiches taken out which I could do at A&E without paperwork.
I was demanded to register with a GP in Bournemouth and get refered but I have all my paperwork with me from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

FOUL SERVICE. I have know idea what I am paying 20% into this country for.

I don't live in Poole, but was visiting when I beg...

I don't live in Poole, but was visiting when I began to feel really unwell. After two days I decided I had to go to A and E as I have high blood pressure and my symptoms seemed to be those of pre-heart attack. I don't go to an A and E lightly, but I'm so glad I did, as my blood pressure was dangerously high. I was seen by the triage nurse after 15 minutes (they have to prioritise) and every single member of staff I came across in the next 5 long hours was I professional, kind, patient and did their job under pressure that most of us couldn't imagine. After my ECG, I had blood taken and the poor nurse apologised because she couldn't get a vein for a while - hardly her fault, this often happens when you're unwell. While I was waiting for the test results, I could hear staff talking to other patients in the emergency ward, calmly dealing with people who were seriously ill, angry, frightened, confused or all four. I'm sure the staff aren't angels, but it did give me a lot of time to think about people who do these jobs every day, often on low wages, and how amazing our NHS can still be at times like this.

Today I took my elderly mum with very limited mobility for a check up. The drop off bay was a godsend. To deliver Mum to reception and then go and park. A volunteer hospital porter was fantastic and pushed mum in a wheelchair all the way to the dept (quite a way) and another assisted our exit. All staff and volunteers were just lovely. Thank you so much!

Once again the care and compassion I have recently...

Once again the care and compassion I have recently received at Poole hospital has been exceptional. As an allied health professional myself, I am only too aware of the many challenges NHS staff face but that doesn't stop the hospital staff from being kind and thoughtful and giving the best care they possibly can. I hope this message is passed on for I would like to personally thank the staff in the scanning suite ( especially Brett who was lovely), the specialist surgeon Miss Innema, the compassionate theatre staff and everyone on B2 ward who looked after me overnight. Special thanks also to Jaquie and Mel specialist nurses who were calm and reassuring throughout, and happy to chat with me at home.
I have been unfortunate in that I have had significant health issues for some years on and off, all of them requiring life saving intervention - Poole hospital has always looked after, reassured and cared for me and I am forever grateful. I will remain a patient with them for the rest of my life, but have faith and confidence that I will be safe in their hands.
The NHS is treated very shabbily by the Government, is underfunded and undervalued - but despite this Poole hospital staff are a shining example of care, kindness, expertise and professionalism. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

In a&e over 5 hours

In a&e over 5 hours

Bad attitude, inapropriate content on television for children.

Many parents waited for hours seen about 5 of those familys , children just leave.

Over all slow , feom what I have seen things such as ruptured ceserian stitches, sever breathing difficulties and cheat pain are not treated serious you will wait for hours.

Basicly if your dying then call an ambulance. wouldn't bother with the wait let alone the very little compassion and attitude at this
hospital- A,E.

I have always been well looked after on the few occasions I have been an inpatient. A&E can be very busy due to Government cuts. If one is an urgent case, they are marvelous. Poole has to remain the acute hospital as RBH is on the other side of Bournemouth and will result in poor outcomes for many people.

Today I had an appointment at Dermatology. I was pleased to find staff so friendly, the waiting area comfortable and light. My appt was on time, with excellent time give me from Dr, nurses and clerical staff. Then being sent for tests, any staff I asked for directions all helped. Making patients pay for Cloud WiFi is not good, as those who stay for longer periods of time end up spending a lot of money on things they shouldn't have to. It doesn't help that the WiFi is incredibly slow and connecting to it is a chore as it even takes long to load up it's own website. Southampton offers a free Cloud WiFi service at incredible speeds, despite being a bigger hospital with a much larger amount of patients using the WiFi at once. Please stop charging for your WiFi. And make it faster if you have to.

Had to take my 1 year old to A&E the other day after a tongue injury. I wasn't expecting such a great service to be honest (we all hear the horror stories about A&E waiting times etc) But my son was seen in good time, all 3 doctors that were involved were lovely, caring and interactive with us and one of them even pushed my pram for me while I carried the little one, she even asked if she was pushing too fast for me, really wished I would have gotten her name. Overall, lovely service.

It's been 5 weeks and I'm still waiting for a letter confirming when my appointment will be. Twice I've phoned up to get an idea how long I'll have to wait just to receive the letter, nevermind an appointment. The outpatients line puts you on hold for 20 minutes to then be answered with a dismissive and condescending attitude. You have to ask multiple times to get the information you're seeking whilst enduring rude responses. I was told by the receptionist today that sometimes patients receive their letters THE DAY BEFORE their appointments but not to worry because they'll phone you in that case, at last minute too like that makes any difference. This really isn't good enough! Other trusts manage to run better than this so what is the problem here?
