I became employed w/Poly-America on 6/20/2017. In my mere 7 mos. now on the job, I have grown to not only learn so much more about the production industry, but find the environment refreshingly challenging and MOST of my team mates, "invaluable."
Poly America currently employ's, to my understanding, over 5k+ employee's. The predominant culture is Spanish, with most employee's originating from Mexico. We have worker's from other Spanish related countries, as well- Salvadore, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Honduras.
As you can plainly see from my profile picture, I am a middle aged, "Caucasian" female. Although I do not possess a college degree, I come from a staunch and HARD WORK PAY'S OFF mentality and an upbringing w/parent's and extended relatives being of middle to upper class status. My own father was employed w/TXU and retired after 45+ yrs. w/the same company. His work there was very much blue collar, openly exhausting shift work, dirtier and not glamorous as opposed to his 3 siblings who possessed college degree's, higher status positions and wealth.
The point that I am so passionately trying to make here is that at Poly America, you have a conglomerate of "human being's" who are coming to work on their schedules day's and have personally CHOSEN to roll up their sleeves, put their head's down and get to work. When you enter the building, it is filled w/noise from machine's producing plastic good's and it's slightly dustier, and yes ... it's even a little dirtier. That's ANYWHERE that is set up to mass produce an industrial product. You are producing trash bag's and thing's of that sort, not Chanel perfume or Prada purses.
Your shirt's to wear are provided by the comp., as well as safety glasses and a fresh pair of ear plugs, daily. The rest of your attire consist of blue jean's and steel toed boot's and women are ask to place their hair up so as not to have it get caught up in an operating machine, which is smart.
Professional/Supportive Management
My direct supervisor's are human being's, like everyone else. They have arduous task waiting on them as soon as they enter the building they are designated at. They have families, too, and bill's, debt's, day to day personal lives and yes, even a problem here and there. Like you and I, they want to succeed, too.
To me, the BIGGEST PERK about management is that they DO NOT micro manage -they BELIEVE in you to go to the line you are working on and start doing "your thing." Yup. Just go to your line and get set up for your shift, the way that you like, and start producing.
I personally am a self starter, so this mindset work's for me and other's, as well. When you CHOOSE to TRY and handle your work, you learn more, become quicker and more efficient and you don't worry when an honest mistake is made, but instead you know that you have the support of your team and they are not there to see you fail. So, we have a firm understanding and it makes work ALOT smoother.
Co-worker's/Teammate's
Who enjoy's working alongside a person that doesn't want to be there, hates life, hates people, etc., etc.?
That's NOT Poly America.
My working environment is generally made up of happier, genuine, HARD WORKING and GRATEFUL people.
The biggest perk?
I don't hear gossip or have to engage in it because although it probably does exist, I either literally cannot hear it over the noise and I don't speak Spanish. Perfect! Instead, my teammates are hugger's, constantly smiling, happier and seemingly well adjusted. The largest attribute they possess is their WORK ETHIC and it's generally stellar. In any job, statistically you spend 75-80% of your life there and it's important to make it count and try to be happier. No work place is free of theatre, or lazier people, hence why I rated 4 star's because that is FAIR. Poly America is NOT immune to problem's, but if you come there to be a clown, you will go out like one, too, and I've seen Spanish, African American and Caucasian worker's be let go of IF that was the case. Why spoil a good thing w/those type's of people? It's a buisness and not a party.
