Loved visiting Plimoth Plantation! All of the actors are in character and you can ask them anything! Very true interactive living history museum! What an incredible way to learn about our history and see how people lived back then. Super authentic and very accurate representation. Worth every penny. We didn't arrive in time, so we only got to see half of the plantation. I will definitely be back!

This was one of the coolest places we have visited. The plantation is broke down into separate areas such as the crafters building ( where you met crafters from the 1700's such as a potter, a candle maker, a baker, and a weaver), the natives village (where you met real native americans who explained life of the natives during the 1700's), the pilgrims area ( this area of the plantation truly transports you back in time, here you meet people who dress and speak as if they are living in the 1700's, they know nothing of modern time so you have to becareful what you ask of them). We spent 3 hours here and could have spent probably another hour or two.

The place is very nice and I really liked walking through the exhibits. They really immerse you in a wampanoag village and the english colonial town. It was built with the same techniques the people's back then would've used as well. However the best thing about this place is the staff. The wampanoag village staff are all members of the tribe who know a lot and are very interesting to talk to. The english town's 'settlers' were the absolute best. They all talked like they were living there at the time and when you questioned them they all had a very detailed life story and it was fascinating to learn why certain people came and how the contracts of the stock company worked. I highly encourage everyone to ask as many questions as possible since they love answering and one can learn so much.

Visited the week before thanksgiving during a cold snap. The trail was easy enough for our hiking stroller for the kids to take a break from the cold in.
The staff was energetic and made it a great experience despite the fact that they were probably freezing!
Everyone took time to explain what they were doing. I know it is their job, but they seemed to genuinely enjoy teaching and sharing. We had a 3 and 5 year old with us, and they adjusted their lessons to help the little ones stay engaged and understand.
We learned a lot and are eager to come back as the kids get older!

One of my favorite travel experiences. The people in the villages are fascinating to speak with, and provide a level of immersion that brings history alive. Tremendously edifying and fascinating.

We came on a day when it was a sunny 90+ day and I would strongly suggest coming on a cooler day. The in character actors were not as fascinating or as numerous or as informative as I remember from my youth, but the Native American representative was great.

If I had a word to describe it...Underwhelming. For the steep price of 30$ per person not worth the experience. The few individuals we did encounter were very knowledgeable and stayed in character but some of he individuals did not interact at all or even seemed to avoid us. Quite a bit of construction happening made this experience inauthentic, we were only told of some minor construction happening only after we purchased our ticket. We were not informed of this prior to which would allow us to make a decision whether or not to proceed. I m not sure why this was highly rated but maybe we just went at a bad time, since they are not in season and just happen to catch everyone on a bad day. The one thing that was the saving grace of the experience was the fresh bread we purchased.. it was a cranberry pecan bread and fresh cookies!! Delicious. The gentleman working the counter was very nice as well. Everything else was mediocre at best.

I can't say enough about this place. A destination in itself, it's completely worth the trip to Plymouth. Start here, before exploring Revolutionary Boston, or heading to the Cape. The staff are historians, anthropologists and museum specialists. They are so knowledgeable and approachable. Imagine if you could go to your favourite museum and have everything explained to you by an expert? That's what happens at Plimouth Plantation. The Wapanoag Homesite is where the story begins, and the interpreters there, almost all from local First Nations communities are very gracious in answering questions and explaining what their ancestors way of like would have been like. The Craft Building is amazing (and blessedly air conditioned). The pottery and hat making demonstrations were so informative. The English Village was an eye opener. The Palisades, the gardens, the houses, the dress and furniture - this is really well done, and the interpreters stay true to character and are wonderfully informative. I could spend a whole day just here, not even seeing the Grist Mill or the rock. There is also a beautiful wedding and reception facility here, that is stunning. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Totally fascinating and a must see for everyone regardless of whether you live in the US or elsewhere. The actors that enrich the experience were outstanding. Well versed in their stories and incredibly entertaining. My only concern is that the role of the native Americans is rather downplayed and given that more than 100K of them inhabited the area when the immigrants arrived and literally drove them off their land, their position should be better explained and they should receive more importance in this setting.

Really cool place. Loved the actual Native Americans there to interact and share knowledge. The Pilgrim village was awesome(especially the cannons upstairs in the 2 story wooden home). The Fall colors were beautiful. No one explained the Mayflower ship was 10 min away. I purchased the combination pass but am on a tight schedule to head south to Cape Cod-maybe next time.

It's interesting, but I've been to a much better example of this kind of living museum at blists Hill, Ironbridge. It was unfortunate that our visit coincided with about 10 school trips, but I don't feel it was good value with the prices we were charged, not a cheap day out at all, it didn't hold the kids attention for more than an hour.

A must see! It was such a great outdoor museum and experience! The weather wasnt great but we still had a great view from atop the hill of the entire village. I wish the Wampanoag exhibit was larger, which we visited first, but still great experience. The staff that are playing the part of pilgrims and Indians did a great job and were great about answering questions.

This place is awesome. They have artifacts and a replica of an indian village and a pilgrim village. They have people playing the role of the villagers. You can interact with the villagers and ask them questions. They have some animals on site and you can enter some of the huts or homes. Great place for the kids. You can buy tickets at the admissions office for the mayflower ship if you choose.

My family and I were beyond excited about Plimoth Plantation. Everything seemed disingenuous. The actors basically ignored us throughout the walk. Unless we chatted with them first they worked on their project and never looked up. It didn't help that we visited the same time that 200+ middle school kids were running around for a field trip. There was only one person in the craft shop. It's a neat place but it's not worth the high ticket price. Williamsburg does this perfectly!

Really nice place to spend the day if you're at all interested in pre-colonial American history, or the history of settlement of the East Coast. Very engaging, lots of things to watch and do. The wooded grounds are beautiful. There is a bit of walking to do but the paths are broad and well-maintained with handrails in many places. It is a Living Museum so you will have a much better experience and learn a lot more if you take the time to interact with the reenactors. On the Native American side they're all native peoples going about the life they would have lived in that Village. in the English Village there are reenactors living the lives of actual historical occupants of the homes and the original settlement as well as modern-day docents who can interact with you from a more modern perspective.

Highly recommended. The entry fee for two adults and two elementary school children was just under $100 but a ticket is good for two consecutive days. After spending four hours there I would still love to go back tomorrow and spend more time interacting with people on site.

Wonderful living museum. There were people dressed in costume who answered questions and spoke in character, and others who had name tags who would answer questions and speak with you as museum docents. There are multiple exhibits that you walk through and multiple demonstrations ( such as musket firing, pottery making, etc). Everyone was very friendly and helpful. It's a great experience for kids and adults, perfect for families looking to learn some interesting history!

The whole plantation is quite small and cost 28usd for adults, but the workers there dressed in the costumes and tell "their own" stories of hundreds of years ago. If you like the style, be sure you have 2h+ time and you are willing to ask in all kinds of weird ways.

I cannot say enough great things about this place. It was fascinating for this history lover. I really enjoyed seeing the replica homes and all of the people in character. It's a beautiful place, and a fun way to learn making it great for all ages. The views are even beautiful. I was not disappointed at all with this experience!

Great for all ages, I went here with my Dad after visiting the Cape to kill some time during rush hour traffic.

Very informative exhibits and I love that they employed actual Native Americans to offer information and insights into their culture.

We ended up staying late for a movie (Wind River) in their theater which did not disappoint.

This would have been a great experience if you could experience it fully. We paid full price, and got maybe half of what you pay for. We got to tour 2 or 3 buildings out of approximately 8 or 9. And only got to hear 2 people talk about the history. We had 7 adults and 3 children. All of us were disappointed with the whole thing. I would suggest everyone wait until this covid thing is over or they lower the prices while it's happening.

We just visited this two weeks ago on Canadian Thanksgiving to experience the so called origin of Thanksgiving place and the English settlers/pilgrims life in 17th century. The admission prices were a bit pricy and the Wampanoag native community part should have been more developed or set-up and better taken care of. It was quite enlightening for the kids to learn the dark side of English settlers' brutality with the Native Americans through conversations with the native community in the plantation.

About Plimoth Plantation

Plimoth Plantation: Bringing History to Life in a New Light

Plimoth Plantation is a living history museum located in Plymouth, Massachusetts. The museum is dedicated to bringing the history of Plymouth Colony and the Indigenous homeland to life through immersive exhibits and interactive experiences. With its commitment to historical accuracy and authenticity, Plimoth Plantation offers visitors a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience what life was like for the Pilgrims and Wampanoag people who lived in the area during the 17th century.

The museum's main exhibits include the 17th-Century English Village, which recreates life in a small farming community as it would have been during the early years of Plymouth Colony. Visitors can explore homes, gardens, fields, and workshops while interacting with costumed interpreters who bring history to life through storytelling and demonstrations of traditional crafts such as blacksmithing, cooking, weaving, and woodworking.

Another major exhibit at Plimoth Plantation is Mayflower II - an authentic reproduction of one of the ships that brought English colonists to America in 1620. Visitors can climb aboard this iconic vessel and learn about its journey across the Atlantic Ocean from England to Cape Cod.

In addition to these exhibits, Plimoth Plantation also features a Wampanoag Homesite that showcases Native American culture before European contact. Here visitors can learn about traditional Wampanoag lifeways such as hunting, fishing, farming, cooking with clay pots over an open fire pit called "Mishoon", making clothing from animal hides or furs etc., all while interacting with Native American interpreters who share their knowledge about their culture.

One unique aspect of Plimoth Plantation is its commitment not only towards historical accuracy but also towards inclusivity by telling both sides of history i.e., European colonizers' perspective as well as Indigenous peoples' perspective on colonization. This approach allows visitors not only to learn about colonial history but also gain insight into how different cultures view events differently based on their own experiences.

Apart from these permanent exhibits mentioned above there are many other seasonal events held throughout each year at Plimoth Patuxet Museums including Thanksgiving Day celebrations where you can enjoy traditional food like turkey dinner with all trimmings along with live music performances by local artists etc., Harvest Festival where you can participate in activities like pumpkin carving contests or apple cider pressing demonstrations etc., Christmas celebrations where you get chance see how Christmas was celebrated during colonial times etc..

Overall if you're looking for an immersive experience that brings history alive then look no further than Plimoth Patuxet Museums! With its dedication towards historical accuracy combined with inclusivity it provides visitors an opportunity not just learn but also engage themselves fully into past times which makes it one-of-a-kind destination for anyone interested in learning more about America's colonial past!
