Shannon Porcellini Review of Plimoth Plantation
I can't say enough about this place. A destination...
I can't say enough about this place. A destination in itself, it's completely worth the trip to Plymouth. Start here, before exploring Revolutionary Boston, or heading to the Cape. The staff are historians, anthropologists and museum specialists. They are so knowledgeable and approachable. Imagine if you could go to your favourite museum and have everything explained to you by an expert? That's what happens at Plimouth Plantation. The Wapanoag Homesite is where the story begins, and the interpreters there, almost all from local First Nations communities are very gracious in answering questions and explaining what their ancestors way of like would have been like. The Craft Building is amazing (and blessedly air conditioned). The pottery and hat making demonstrations were so informative. The English Village was an eye opener. The Palisades, the gardens, the houses, the dress and furniture - this is really well done, and the interpreters stay true to character and are wonderfully informative. I could spend a whole day just here, not even seeing the Grist Mill or the rock. There is also a beautiful wedding and reception facility here, that is stunning. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
