Do Not let the ladies from a place named BRAIDS do ur or your kids hair.. They Charged my daughter 16 yrs old 50.00 us dollars for a simple French braid I was in restroom At the time daughter says they told her she would go to jail if she didn't pay, I went to confront them they laughed so I had to stand and tell everyone all day what they did. they made no $ the rest of the day.. Sad they did this how many others have there been.. Ppl from there told us that braid normal price was 10.00.. don't go there they Wear t-shirts with name Braids in different colors on it.. Sad part was lady pulled her aside and said it was 5 dollars so that's why she let her do hair.. They used a scare tactic to make her pay but in the end they lost they had not 1 customer after that.. They learned a lesson and so did my daughter ...beware! This place is where cruise ships take you. They prey on the teens especially.. The police told me I could stand there and tell ppl what happened, don't let them scare u...They lost alot of customers That day..
The water is so blue, the people are so nice relaxed and happy. I'll be back
Fun in the sun. Get your hair braided and a henna tattoo while there.
Belize is a beautiful country with great shopping for souvenirs
Belize's economy seems to run off of their tourism industry. A lot of the shops and goods seem wholesale, you'll find a lot of the same stuff in the same shops. many seem to specialize in one or two wares however, like bracelets or dresses. The weather here is nice and the shops and village is kept clean and populated.
Gorgeous! A great experience. Look forward to returning again some day.
very good and well populated, many souvenirs and local cuisine, I really enjoyed it and whoever is on a cruise is already knowing that the ship is anchored at a distance and is a little distant to go from lifeboat, but it's worth it.
The name says it all-tourism village. They have various products from the very common tee-shirts to bags to souvenirs. What I found to be refreshing was that the vendors were not very pushy as you find in other tourist spots. In fact we were able to shop at our leisure without the pressure of buying something we didn't want.
Fairly to strong free wifi. Lots of souvenir shops. Hopefully i can take a tour to altun ha next time.
Big improvement since I was last in Belize 1980. Don't recall the roads being finished as good as they are now.
Great place for souvenirs or get your hair braided. Kids had fun on the swings.
Only for tourists. There are food and drink places. There is a good atmosphere. Lots of breeze and sun, places to buy and take some souveniers for your country.
Worth a visit, do not miss the opportunity to learn more about the local history
From this place you can visit little known Mayan ruins. The port is not very luxurious, the most beautiful are the Belize Islands.
A great first stop for tourists who just step off the cruise ships. But be sure to venture outside the Village, you will find better bargains for your souvenir and meals.
I was pretty disappointed in the overall area. Seemed fairly old and run down to some extent. Typical beach / ocean front shops, bars, restaurants. Sidewalks were hit and miss, some easy to trip on. Some of the shops were better than others. Maybe it is because i live in an ocean side city but they all begin to look a like. I would visit other areas if i have thr chance to return. Traffic and parking looked like a night mare.
Typical.tourtist items for sale in numerous stores. Some items that are sold in many shops could differ in price of a few dollars. Look for what you want and price the item. Then buy from the store with the best price. .ask for a discount listen carefully to their answer
If you don't have an excursion planned that day don't bother having to deal with tenders stay on the boat the small tourist village isn't anything special and the tall confining walls with barbed wire arnt very comforting. The bars are okay but arnt nearly as fun as most Caribbean bars or what you would be expecting. With that being said Belize is a fairly new with its independence and seems like the area is cleaning up a lot. It has a lot of potential.
The beach fascinates me because of the peace it transmits, the landscape both by day and by night!
This is basically a small shopping center for tourists who are on a boat. Lots of small souvenirs shops, some bars and some restaurants along with some small carts that sell local food. If you re on a cruise that happens to go to Belize, chances are you ll get to visit this small port.
Great friendly vendor that were helpful in finding great gifts.
Fun place to visit and shop just wish they would build docks for the ships rather than taxi us by smaller boats.
I have a friend who lives there and I'm falling in love with this site
Great one stop shop for tourists coming off the cruise ship. This is perfect since the time spent on mainland is a little short. You get access to souvenirs and a little exposure to the Belizean culture in all its glory.
Visit and see what all Belize has to offer n check out jungle gift shop you can get good quality souvenirs from belize also T shirts
Great place! Visited while on a Carnival cruise. They give stamps for your passports, have maps available, and advice on where to go and what to see. Wonderful, friendly people. Would love to go back.
Fort Street at Belize city is amazing . ..
Hot but still enjoying it ...
Very busy place with many shops to liberate tourist from there money. Everyone was very friendly and festive.
The market was good with very nice merchandise... but the surrounding water ways was extremely polluted that was a turn off to our trip.
Eh, it was ok. Definitely an Americanized part of Belize cut off from much local interaction. There were still local vendors inside, however its a weird ambiance. It was one of my least favorite ports of my cruise. (We also had to tender to the port because the ship is too big to dock there).
Overall great experience, Want to return for a blue hole dive.
Sad to see the Taxi boat dumping bilge oil in the water.
The Coconut rum stand was on point, Highly recommended.
Come and see me for a private tour and ask for Lance Pelayo.
Free wifi good shopping and food in the area local food and some local crafts
Google wants me to tell you why I like this place. The first thought that comes to mind, is because I am on vacay and not at home or working! Everything is better when you are on vacay! Lol
Another stop on our cruise. Lots of shopping and street music. Fun place!
Lots of little tourist shops. Kind of crazy if you come in on a cruise, lots of people everywhere. There are a lot of shops though so there is no line to buy things like at some of the other stops.
This is where the people of the cruise ships comes to shore
If you are wanting "Belize" souvenir's, that is your place. Only open when ship's are. Must be for tourist's.
Great area for all the souvenirs and collectibles from Belize. Most prices in US dollars, bit they will take both Belize dollars and US dollars. Change may be in either currency based on the shop.
I love the island of Belize it was so Beautiful and we had so much fun
We love Belize. The swinging at the pier makes you reduclisy happy!
If you are live in Belize and are visiting someone coming in on a cruise ship you should know that they will not let you in until 10:00 AM. Even with proper identification they say that is the rule. Of course it is not posted anywhere.and tomorrow the rules might be completely different. Do these people not realize that you might have someone coming in that you have not been able to see for years and that EVERY moment is important.
I really could not enjoy my time in Belize. The port that they drop you off at like many of them are just overpriced flea markets. This industry has been ruined by bigger companies buying out and taking many of the spots to sell their same goods. Some are cheaper than others if you take the time to look. Just remember that if its indoors and A/c then their prices are going to be a bit higher. Just like the shops closer to where they drop you off. When you try to enter the city there are what looks like crowds waiting to sell you something or kidnap you if you look like you have enough money.
Safe place to wander around in an otherwise less safe city. Vendors aren't too pushy. Nice waterfront views.
