Pier A Harbor House is a classic wooden building selected as a historic building in New York City, built on a pier that protrudes from the battery park to the mouth of the Hudson River.
I like coming here to get out of the office and grab a quick bite and drink. The menu is pretty standard and reasonably priced. Their seating situation is confusing - certain areas are reserved for ordering at the bar and others for table service, but they're all clumped together lutside.
I was surprisingly taken there by my girlfriend for my birthday. She didn't tell me where we were going. I couldn't have had a more perfect experience. From the hostess, the serving staff to the food. Every bite I savored, the crab cake, the porterhouse veal steak and for desert the milk chocolate custard with happy birthday written on the plate. It wasn't planned beforehand but did say something to the waiter who was serving us this was my birthday surprise dinner. He was very attentive and respectful. He had that personality that could read how to interact with the customer. Even when my girlfriend asked what was broccolini (I didn't even know) I tapped him and told him.. "just tell her it is a female broccoli" and he rolled with it ad-libing how it comes out all green in a nice dress. I have no negative comments spending close to two hours there expect that the party that came in close to us leaving was a bit loud but they have sliding doors to close to muffle out that sound. thank you to all that made my experience as perfect as it was.
The location is perfect. However I would say if you're planning on going to Pier A you should stay away from driving because finding parking is really hard plus is meter parking. Taking the public transportation is probably the best option. The view is breathtaking especially if you're into taking nice pics. You can see amazing sunsets. The food isn't exceptional and the menu isn't fancy. The staff behind the bar can be extremely rude but I said to myself I won't review the establishment based on my experience with this particular individual because there were also some nice and attentive servers. This is a good place to go with your friends after class or work. I wouldn't say this is a romantic place for a date but hey maybe it is for some people. Overall it's a good place.
Great place to come earlier in the day to watch a game or hang out with friends. Just be aware that if you want a table or space on a nice day, the place gets packed by around 3:30pm. Definitely worth it for an outdoor hangout when you don't have to fight the crowds (or if you don't mind doing that)
Terrible place, we had to order at the bar and we got the wrong order and when we spoke to the manager she said go to the bar and tell them. The food was so bad and cold. Terrible food and worst customer service.
Reasonably priced seafood and excellent service with awesome views!!!
Wonderful. From drinks to food. Beautiful harbor View. Amazing staff
The view is great, the dynamic and in sit where you want is nice. Seafood is expensive for quantity and quality (but you pay the view). The oysters (6 for $ 18) are served in far too much ice, they are too cold almost More
Unless you are coming here to drink, I wouldn't recommend the place. Do not order the stale, overcooked, thick pretzel unless you want a stale, over-cooked, thick pretzel with very little sauce. The sauce is good, however. It just doesn't justify the pretzel.
My go-to spot in NYC financial district. Expensive, but the view is worth every penny. I ve had some amazing first dates here and great times with the bros. I wish there was a better IPA selection and slightly faster service.
There's just something missing at Pier A, and I cannot put my finger on what.
As a bar, it is beyond serviceable--it is superb. Views of New York Harbor, Battery Park, and Battery Park City give the restaurant-length bar tremendous atmosphere and make every seat a good one.
The food menu falls short, though. Caught somewhere among the urge to do seafood while also being inventive and yet having a bar-food-inspired menu, Pier A tries to please all but only befuddles. The blue cheese in the seafood cob salad was particularly disconcerting.
Bartenders were terrible....bad attitude...asked for crackers with my oysters and she said I had to order clam chowder because it comes with crackers...made me pay for my meal before it was served...they need a wake up call...i guess new Yorkers are allied to act that way....SAD !!!!
Pier A, seen in this photo, is the last historic pier in New York and has been recently restored and reopened as a beautiful promenade and plaza. The view should be amazing from here.
Stopped for drinks waiting for ferry. Menu looked great, which we had time to eat! Our mixed drinks were fantastic and staff very friendly
service is fast as you'd expect on a place like this, while burgers (both tuna and regular) were just bad... (tuna tartare tacos compensated somewhat)
i'd say eat here if you have no other options or you just need some quick bites for your drinks
The view is worth more than five stars. Staff is very attentive. Oyster happy hour special is an excellent deal with super fresh oysters.
Really cool place. Great food. Great staff. Amazing view.
Great place for an aperitif by the river. With the statue of liberty in the background and an unpretentious service (wooden tables and plastic glasses) but young and pleasant.
Stayed for 2 drinks on a slow Saturday night. Not bad, pretty standard. 6.4 experience
Best place
My freinds are very satisfaction
It s a busy place with a picturesque view of the Statue of Liberty. It gets extremely busy during the summer months here. It is a great place for drinks with co-workers or friends. They have a lot of room for big companies. You can hang out inside, outside and they also have sitting area both inside and outside. The service is pretty quick. The drinks are okay, the food is typical bar food, a bit greasy though. I ve been here several times with coworkers and friends.
Best place to have some fresh seafood at sunset time!
Great spot in the Battery Park with a beautiful view over the harbor!
There are places on the river but few if any over the water. Very tastefully appointed with exquisite service. Truly breath taking views and escape. Skip trappy stone street with it bored, tired and stuffy staff and space.
The atmosphere of black tail and their complimentary drink.
Amazing for a hot day in Manhattan when you have your pup with you...the staff are extremely polite and welcomed us with open arms!!!
Just wanted to post these Christmas pictures at the entrance.
The students have no idea how good they have it. We went for breakfast and it was amazing - try one of the scrambles, homemade sausages and crazy delicious pastries. Kudos to the program instructors - your students have serious talent. Freshest, most delicious breakfast we've had in a long time.
Great views, cold beer and pretty decent lobster roll. The homemade chips were crispy, salty perfection. All in all a really nice place to have a beer, sit outside and soak in the views.
We celebrated New Year's Eve here and it was worth every penny!
Starting with typical American winter decoration, a rich buffet and open bar, whose bartenders fulfilled every wish.
One of my best New Year's Eve parties, will definitely party here again!
One of my favorite Downtown hangouts. Perfect views of the Harbor, Lady Liberty, and Ellis Island. Sunsets on the patio as the ships sail by. Excellent Bloody Marys (brunch!) and a solid lineup of craft beers. All this, and stellar seafood. What's not to love?
Really nice place, good food, enjoyable drinks and a great view :)
Good typical American food, affordable prices and great views of the harbor and the Statue of Liberty. If it's nice to eat outside. Not too much waiting, on the other hand if you come for this restaurant, come by subway or on foot, no place around!
The best environment you can get! The service is so nice and you can order anything on the menu and fall in love! I know this because my friend brought me here and ordered me the whole menu for my birthday, it was amazing.
Awesome bar with awesome views of the harbor. Great place to interact and meet people. If you're with a party that can get in on the 2nd floor back bar, go for it. It's a cool hidden gem in the back and has great views/atmosphere.
Went there for an office party yesterday. The sliders were GONE in a second I didn't even get to try and the hummus was so good along with the fries. Onion rings were meh. I ordered a pineapple daiquiri because they didn't have amaretto sour I loved the crunch of it and wished it was even frozen. Then Mike my favourite God came through and found some amaretto. I haven't had amaretto in a whole so I may be biased but after a long day it tasted like Cupid's arrow and angels wings. He didn't just add sweet & sour but something else that made it sooo good and the cherries were so sweet. I loved it. The office party was a hit and everyone said they enjoyed themselves good and well. Will be back during the summer because I'm sure it's a happening spot after hours.
View is A+. Food is good, not life changing, but worth the price. Would go again.
This is the place to go if you are in the downtown, financial, battery park area.
Amazing place and service! The view is the best! So relaxing and great place both at daytime and nighttime!
Visitor from out of town and not familiar with seating. Told to sit anywhere and someone would help. That never happened. Maybe they don t like senior citizens. After about 20mins , I got up and left.
This place is beautiful. I wish I found myself downtown more frequently, but it's definitely worth a visit.
Good atmosphere, great food, and a great view of the Statue of Liberty and Governor's Island. Try the pretzel. You will not be disappointed.
Nice place for a beer and a snack after a busy afternoon of touring. But they should devote one waitperson per table (not 3 or 4) to minimize confusion.
A great place in the summer to grab a picnic table, invite a dozen friends, and sip away the afternoon watching the boats go by and enjoying the rose on tap. The prices are not cheap but the view definitely makes up for it!
If outside is not your thing you can easily find space in the massive indoor area with multiple bars and levels!
Richly decorated, top-notch food, historic location.
Crazy over priced server literally waited for me to pay the check. Smh never wouldn't recommend
Food and beer were excellent, large portions. Unfortunately a mother thought it was nice to let her 5 little kids jump back and forth over the rope fence. Annoying...
Pier A was perfectly described as a place that you go once and don't need to go back to. Or a place you take friends or family from out of town to for them to get a New York experience. It's pretty much overrun with tourists going to or coming back from the Statue of Liberty tours. Service is a bit spotty, possibly because all of the tourists mean the staff don't get consistent tips. The ambiance is quite nice right on the water and the seafood themed menu reflects that. The food was just ok, but lacked flavor. The chips and dip were pretty bland and the grilled fish tacos were as well. The beer menu is not bad, but isn't that extensive, especially because they were out of my first two choices when visiting. Come for the views and fresh air with friends, but don't expect a delightful culinary experience.
Very nice historical building with magnificent harbor views. Good service. I tried two items from the menu Lobster Roll ($24!) and popcorn shrimp. Both below average. Tourist food.... Perhaps the fish tacos would have been a better choice.
The cocktails, food, view and beer selection are great. Sadly the service is not at peak hours. Be ready to wait a long time for a drink. If you go at off hours it s great. Awesome view of the Statue of Liberty and Financial Center.
Great for drinks in a Friday or Saturday night when there is no after-work crowd.
great place down by the water. it's quite large also, so plenty of space to bring a big group without it being too crowded.
Such a lovely restaurant. All the food I've ever had here was good, and the ambiance is delightful.
Tried the new England chowder. . Perfect! A side of east coast oysters to go with it. The staff was friendly and the beer (Brooklyn lager ) was cold.
Great location facing the nyc harbor & statue of liberty. Had oysters, wine, and pasta! great vibe with a full bar. Great all year round
Awful experience, food was mediocre at best and the service was the worst I've ever seen. Took over an hour just to get our bills and the waiter had the audacity to still ask for a tip.
we are two 12 almost 13 year olds, we wanted to have lunch, we talked to the manager and they said yeah sure, then our waitress refused to serve us, even water... so they kicked us out! they have great root beer but that s all. never going there ever again
One of our favorite local hang outs in Battery Park City. Great food, beer and atmosphere for all ages and groups.
Overpriced and literally three toilets for hundreds of people. Avoid.
Service is terrible. No one knows anything abouth the menu and it took forever to be served. Over priced mediocre food.
Love this place! Pier A is right on the water and has plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. I was surprised how big it was. If you re sitting outside there is a section for table service but looks like everyone has to order food. I recommend the rose sangria!
great spot to sit outside. not great cocktails...food...but my mom liked it!
