Beautiful place, picturesque. Went for an afternoon tea on the steam train. This was an amazing experience. Food was delicious and plenty of it. There was a museum full of the history of the railway with old pictures of interest. A gift shop, restaurant too. Also, the other side of the car park is the otter and butterfly farm. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Amazing experience. I am in a wheelchair and the staff we wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble, they had a ramp ready for me to get into the carriage and were very friendly and helped my husband to push me. I can't recommend it highly enough. We also had a lunch in their restaurant and the food was exceptionally good.

An amazing restored heritage railway, running through a very scenic route. Sit on the right-hand side from Buckfastleigh, and on the left from Totnes, for the best views of the river Dart. Buckfastleigh Station has a small museum which is worth visiting. If you have time, consider breaking your trip at Staverton and walk up to the village (about a 10-15 minutes walk), and don't forget to check out the medieval bridge right next to Staverton Station.

A very enjoyable day. The staff are very helpful, knowledgeable and also enthusiastic with the children which adds to little ones excitement for seeing and travelling on a steam train. The journey was very scenic, especially as the weather was good. The bonus was seeing Thomas shunting trucks around the station

Where else can you travel in style pulled in period rolling stock by either a vintage steam tank engine or diesel
Amazingly helpful staff
Rented a carriage for a family get together and they did everything possible to make this happen
Check out the museum too a veritable treasure trove of period history exhibits and displays

Great service from staff and really friendly people who are ready to help out. Also unique events happen every so often so I recommend looking what's on to see if there is anything interesting which there usually is.

On going repairs all round shows a shortage of cash as old stock is left to rot on show, this is not a good thing to show the visitors...best was the ride on the train in the old coaches. ..

Stepping back to a different era. Fabulous change of pace. Put down your phone and use your senses.
Watch the beautiful river scroll by, fill your lungs with fresh air, punctuated by moist steam and coal from the engine.
Let your body be massaged by the rhythmic ti tat, ti tat, as the carriage takes the strain.

Had a great time here on the Christmas train, a very well done experience, we all loved it. Would definitely go again. Included a ride on the steam train and an opportunity to meet Santa and his two elves. The kids got a present, and we all had some Christmas punch (spiced apple juice) and a mince pie. Very festive and definitely put us in the Christmas mood.

A superb preserved railway running through the beautiful Devon countryside. Plenty to do at either end of the line. If you fancy a trip to Buckfast Abbey there is a bus stop nearby. Great facilities for food, toilets and sitting. A real time warp line.. vintage stations, trains, locomotives and railway paraphernalia from yesterday. Friendly staff. Very reasonable fares and a fairly regular service. Highly recommended.
