What a Great place to End a Wonderful trip on a Railway from Totnes. With Pulling you. There's lots to do here, and more then a few hours to look at it all. Because I will have to come back for the rest of it. We did go over the bridge to see the miniature railway and the Butterfly and otter place. (More pictures use two fingers on mine to get closer for detail for the modeller in you).

Wonderful. Enjoyed this immensely. We all enjoyed our train ride and shame on the government for allowing all the old stations to be shut down. A really good place to visit but to keep this going it is quite expensive for a family day out.

We took our grandaughter on the santa train. It was brilliant. They went to so much trouble & it was so well organised. Fake snow machines at the Station near Totnes Magicians. Christmas songs. Santa and a present, Hot chocolate or soft drinks. Gingerbread or mince pies sweets all included in the price and a brilliant view of the river The staff were all so lovely making it a magical time. I would highly recommend this attraction. Thank you

We took advantage of a half price weekend. It was raining but still an enjoyable journey to Totnes along side a very fast flowing river. There is also a museum (which we didn't do) shop and cafe etc at Buckfastleigh station. Also had a wander around Totnes. Would do again but hopefully on a dry day.

We parked the car in Totnes as the steam train leaflet stated there was no car park at the station. There is a small car park next to the station. Took the train to Buckfastleigh where there's a gift and model shop, museum and cafe selling food and refreshments. There is a Rare Breeds Farm at Totnes and Otters and Butterflies at Buckfastleigh.

We had a very pleasant morning at this steam railway. Picturesque views and the railway runs by the side of the river making for interesting sights. We were pulled by a genuine steam engine which was manned by an enthusiastic crew who were happy to talk.

Highly recommended. We had a wonderful experience. Friendly informative and fun. The work these volunteers do obviously stems from their passion for these old engines and carriages. The stations were all pretty and well kept. It is a joy for young and old.

Really enjoyed this day out caught the steam train to Totnes after about a 10 min brisk walk there is a beautiful little town where we found a cafe with awesome cakes and had afternoon tea then caught the train back again.

Beautiful steam hauled 20 minute each way trip along the banks of the river Dart. Museum with the only surviving broad gauge loco worth a 10 minute visit. Good car park at Buckfastleigh with usual tea room and shop. Went as a club outing including a prearranged workshop tour.

Really enjoyed the trips on the train. It's good that you can stay on (which we did) and have another trip for the price. Liked going in the cabin with the family. Some other trains (like Paignton/Dartmouth) are in better condition inside - a lock of paint would lift it.

Lovely smooth ride, so much to see when travelling on this train. A lot of hard work has gone into this project which is run by volunteers who are very knowledgeable the train and the history, just sit back and relax and enjoy the journey.

Buckfastleigh Railway Station is the main train station on the South Devon Railway line. The station was opened by the Buckfastleigh, Totnes & South Devon Railway on 01-May-1872, and is situated just off the A38 and close to the world renowned Buckfast Abbey & Dartmoor National Park.

As a Railway volunteer like almost all of the staff here I haft to say this is one of the best. Lots to do and one of the friendliest. Best restored out of all of them. Also may I add to the shamefully low rating people this is a volunteer charity which is not for commercial use were they don t get much of a yearly profit so if you are going to write a review about telling people not to go here remember it s run by normal people with a normal job who only come here to help others, (and to have a good time). I can say that the Railway I volunteer on Llangollen Railway is so much more awful than this one.

It is an amazing railway for steam and diesel and shows great history of such large engines, it is a very long line and good for the price with buckfastleigh having an otters and butterfly area for a small fee extra but a good show and great journey and rides
