We traded in our Yukon for a used vehicle to save money. The day I tried to take the vehicle home, magically a check engine light came on. I was told it was probably a gas cap and to just drive and it will go away. I made them put something in writing before I left and sure enough, light didn't go off. Turns out it was a timing chain issue! They had to drop the entire motor to replace a chain that isn't supposed to be replaced. Good thing I got it in writing. But this was short lived. Not even 2 days later we were back for a very loud power steering whine. They fixed that. 4,500 miles later, the engine seized while I had my family of 6 in the vehicle. The dealership was closed and over 100 miles from where we broke down so we had it towed to a local shop. Ended up paying close to $6,000 to replace the motor on a $9,000 vehicle. The service manager, Nick's responses were clear that he was simply covering the dealerships liability for anything. Everything was because of what I did or didn't do. First it was due to the 4500 miles since the oil change. Their techs informed me to simply follow the oil change monitor in the vehicle which corroborates with the owners manual. The monitor read 67% when this happened. The shop claimed the filter was almost stuck on the housing and looked as if it hadn't been changed in a very long time, which could be the reason for a spun bearing but the dealer insists they changed the oil. Who knows. Bottom line, we were sold a bad vehicle and the dealer wouldn't do anything to help or make it right and because I can't prove their neglect, my family is out thousands of dollars when this entire move was to SAVE money. They acted very concerned but once they realized they had no liability, they washed their hands with us. They claim they did all these services prior to us purchasing the vehicle but then why was the brake fluid and power steering fluid completely black and had to be flushed if it was all checked and good? I'm just glad my wife wasn't the one driving with our 4 children when this happened. I will never purchase another vehicle, have any service done or suggest this dealer to any person.
