Penny Realty Property Management Review

Penny realty is the third property management company that we've used in just over a year. The first two were horrible. They were unresponsive, unprofessional and made several mistakes that cost us a lot of money. We've been with Penny realty for 3 months and so far Jennifer and James have been responsive and very professional. I'm looking forward to a long and profitable relationship with them.

I've been using Penny for property management of my condo for the past 3 years. Recently, I got a new manager, Ayari, and I couldn't be happier. She was great in finding me a new tenant within a month (and at a higher rate than expected). She always answers my calls and emails within a day. So happy that she's my manager!

Really awesome experience. I was able to get into a place sooner than later. The team has been super helpful prior to move and post move in. Special shout out to Aleesa, it s a win for you if you can get linked up with her during your leasing process. She s been rad throughout this entire experience.

Jeff - we loved the Bayfront Cove house from the moment we walked in he door. It was so warm and welcoming...it felt like home. Its location in a less busy area of Bayside Walk is ideal for all family types. Having the sand and Bay right outside the front gate is wonderful! That area of the Bay has less boat traffic making it safe for swimming or just floating on a raft! We loved sitting out on the front deck and just watching people pass by and the Bahia's sternwheeler going in and out at night all lit-up like a birthday cake!

This is one of the most well equipped vacation rental homes we've ever rented. The kitchen has everything you would need to prepare meals - the appliances are like brand new. The three bedrooms were very nicely furnished and the mattresses were perfect for a good night's sleep. Our family will definitely be back to the Bayfront Cove house!

And, we were very fortunate to find and work with Penny Realty! We had just had a very bad experience with a VRBO listing and were "gun shy" about booking again. But, the staff at Penny Realty made this process very easy and we felt confident we had made the right choice. I will definitely use Penny Realty again!

I highly recommend working with Penny Realty, they made this experience so easy and carefree! They were very accommodating with a travel snafu that I had, but luckily one of the other guests who stayed the weekend was already in San Diego, and was able to pick up the keys and get the weekend started. I didn't get into San Diego until very late the night i was supposed to check in, but they worked with me and I was able to sign the rental agreement the next morning. The rental office is super close to the house too- it was the perfect morning walk down there, and we were even able to hit Starbucks on the way back for a coffee!

The house slept 6 grown men comfortably, and everything we needed was right there. There are many bars and restaurants within walking distance, and even a Ralph's supermarket- one night we bought groceries and cooked our own dinner! This property isn't next to any other residences, so it was nice and quiet at night, and all of us slept like babies. Not to mention the benefit of having a bike rental shop on one side, and a great Mexican taqueria on the other side. The food from the place next door was delicious!

Everything was very clean. The appliances were modern and well cared for; the linens and bath towels all looked basically brand new and we used them with no reservations! The porch areas are awesome during the mornings to watch the sunrise- the perfect way to start a day in SD!

Of course, this review wouldn't count for anything if I didn't talk about how close Aloha is to the beach- step out the front door, cross Mission Blvd, and in 5 minutes you can dig your toes into the sand! We had a great weekend playing beach football, and a great night walking up and down the boardwalk, watching the waves come in. Talk about a prime location!

Thanks to Penny Realty for coming through in the clutch on our check-in day, and making up for SeaTac's terrible TSA lines. I was stressed until I got to San Diego- from there on out, it was smooth sailing!

I submitted a maintenance request for our toilet. Jennifer handled the request. She got back to me the next day, letting me know she would have a Plummer out to fix the problem ASAP. That same day, my toilet was fixed. I was super happy with the response rate and the efficiency. Thank you Jennifer!

I love love love the vacation rental I stayed in through this company! The location was perfect! Situated centrally between Mission and Pacific Beach. They offered boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrellas as a courtesy. The manager there Brittany Hunter was professional and very nice. I would highly recommend using this company for your next vacation!

We were a slightly anxious family from the Midwest, in San Diego for the first time and having rented a beach house sight unseen via Airbnb. The property was perfect, and Jeff at Penny Realty was so friendly and easy to get in touch with. We will be back!

I loved this rental! It was much nicer inside than I expected. Clean and functional. The proximity to the beach is unmatched and the dog beach was only a 5 minute stroll in the sand. All the windows and sliding doors made it easy to let the ocean breeze in. Kitchen is well stocked. Beds were comfortable and rooms roomy. There was some concern on the balcony with our small dogs. We didn't feel safe having them out there because the rails are too far apart. However that was a minor inconvenience. Overall there was nothing more I wanted or needed. We had a wonderful time. Parked the car when we arrived and didn't drive again until we left. Heck, I didn't even wear shoes the entire stay. :)

We've been with Penny Realty for over a year now. Hands down, couldn't wish for anyone better! Our manager Brittany is always so helpful. If anything needs to get fixed, she puts an order right away, even if it is Saturday night (as it happened recently). Go Penny Realty!

I called to see if I can make a reservation, I had two gentlemen help me I only remembered one name. But Jeff helped approved our last minute vacation rental that we got to enjoy starting the DAY OF. They were super fast and efficient. When I got there, everything was super squeaky clean! The views were... well you re just gonna have to see for yourself! So amazing sunsets will never be the same unless I m looking at it from my living room window or balcony. We loved it so much we got two more days! There were some hiccups, my door knob fell off late night on the first day but someone came the next morning. Then on my day of check out I accidentally broke a mirror... talk about bad luck. But Jeff took care of everything. He was so helpful and understood I wasn t at fault. When I come to visit I m def staying at one of their rentals again. Thank you Jeff and the other gentleman that helped us. We appreciate you!

I have been traveling out to San Diego for the past 7 years to attend the annual San Diego Crew Classic with our team. Each year we use Penny Realty to help us find an amazing condo to stay at for the long weekend, typically we stay at the same places. I am making changes to this review since the property management company was very professional about correcting the concerns of the property. The property was not rent ready when we leased it. It has been brought to my attention that it has been correctly repaired and is in working order. The company strives to make their guests happy and do what is right by their customers. The property came with many issues; however, Penny Realty did resolve them. The owners care about customer relations.

The vacation home is situated in a great location. It has parking for two vehicles which is very nice in Mission Beach. Parking here is very difficult. We rented a Ford Explorer and had no issue parking in the space provided. It is conveniently located close to the bay and ocean.

Extremely professional staff. One aspect of this company that stands out from the others, is the simplicity of their leasing process. I was fond of a particular apartment, inquired about and Two days later had the entire process taken care of. I was able to provide them with a deposit, proof of income, credit in a swiftly fashion and they were able to move at my speed making this process quick and painless. My leasing agent Aleesa has ensured that my needs were met prior to moving in and check in to make sure the place was to my standards. I like quality and simplicity and this company offers that.

I am new at this role of being a landlord and leasing a condo, and they taught me the process... step by step. Penny Realty made it easy for me.

First, I am grateful that Greg helped me find an amazing contractor, Nick De Santis, to renovate the condo. Greg answered kindly to every telephone call I had during the renovation. He even came out during the construction phase to give me advise.

Penny realty is a great agency, they are normally very fast about fixing any problems and have been flexible with us on a number of occasions. We've rented with them now for almost 3 years!

I live at a property they manage and had some issues with my kitchen sink and one of my toilets leaking, as well as the floor in another upstairs bathroom coming apart. It s an old beach house, and while charming, needed a little TLC. Once I told my property manager (Jennifer) about everything, she got the right people out here to assess and fix the issues with very little turnaround. The repairs were completed expediently, and everything seems to be holding up well and stronger than ever before. I just wanted to reach out and thank Jennifer for her professionalism and thorough pragmatism in helping us remedy the issues that we had. And also for her patience and superlative communication with me that helped me understand the process of how home work orders are carried out. She knows what she's doing and I'm happy to feel like we're in good hands knowing that she oversees the operations at our property. Cheers.

Penny Realty is simply the greatest. Penny Realty delivers quality service and in a timely manner. When my wife and I first inquired about property management services, Penny Realty's president, Greg Flaherty, returned our call the same day. After Greg completed a walkthrough with us of our property, he quickly reviewed with us a market analysis of fair rental value of our property, which we concurred with. We signed the property management agreement and Greg introduced us to our property manager, Brittany Hunter. Brittany has been superior. She secured as signed rental agreement, within 24 hours of publicly advertising our property. Brittany and her maintenance team have completed all necessary maintenance repairs at a reasonable cost.
Penny Realty is full service. After personally managing this property for 25 years, the only job my wife and I have now is the review our Penny Realty produced monthly statement and bank deposit. Thank you Penny Realty.

Was lucky to stay at the Aloha vacation rental for the Thanksgiving holiday. Super easy check-in and check-out and very friendly staff. A block from the beach, my family and I still talk about it!

We recently rented a beach house from Penny Realty. We were pleasantly surprised that the pictures online matched exactly the house. In addition, the garbage disposal stopped working they responded immediately to our request for a plumber and within 24 hours it was fixed. They were fast and reliable. We would rent from them again!

I had some issues come up with my apartment that needed to be taken care of. The staff at Penny Reality, particularly Jennifer and Cherene, did such an amazing job at handling the situation. They were very proactive and kept a great line of communication which is crucial for property management.

Penny put up a false listing . Said it was a single home. When we arrived it was a duplex in the photo they actually edited the unit number to make it look like a single family home. Many questions were answered with idk. Terrible.

My family came to town and was able to stay in a great little vacation rental right by the beach! They loved it!! Penny Realty made their stay very enjoyable :) I would definitely recommend them for vacation rentals!

This is the first time I have worked on AirBnB and with Penny Realty. It was a very simple process and they were so helpful and accomodating. My parents, grown sisters and I really wanted a nice place for a few days on the beach to relax and just be together. My dad was just put on Hospice Care and to not have to worry about renting hotel rooms and us just being together in one place was more than I could have hoped for. It made a sad time us a bit better and my dad (well we all enjoyed it). Thank you!

The property was awesome. Perfect for a great experience for Mission Beach property. The parking was excellent, the location in relation to the beach, the bay and the park was amazing. The condo had every cooking utensil that you could think of using and every thing was super clean. Easy process with check in and check out. Again it was a great experience. My boyfriend and I joined our friends this winter in a vacation rental managed by Penny Realty and we had a great time. The location was great! We were able to walk to the bay and the beach from the home. Walking around the neighborhood it seemed as though Penny had numerous other Vacation Rentals in the area. We rented a 2 bed/ 2 bath condo through Penny Realty on Mission Blvd and enjoyed our stay. It was a nice clean place that had everything one needs for comfort. The beds were comfortable, there were pillows, towels, and blankets aplenty, and it is super close to both Sea World and the beach. The place was very family friendly and there is a coin laundry for the building downstairs. I will definitely stay there again next time I m in San Diego. Thanks Penny Realty!

My family has been with Penny Realty since the late 1970's. Penny has grown considerably since we first began using them. We have had good property managers in all these years and some not so good. The manager that is currently assigned to us has done an excellent job at communicating with us regarding our property. We live out of state so Penny is our eyes and ears. When something needs to be dealt with, we count on them to let us know. We also count on them to provide us with accurate and reasonable cost estimates. This has generally been the case.
Over the past year or so, there seems to have been a large turn over at Penny. As I stated previously, the addition of your current property manager has been a positive addition. I cannot say, however, that I feel the same way about all of the new staff. It seems that a new bookkeeper was added sometime in the last 18 months. Since that time, we have not gotten our monthly disbursements in the timely manner which we did previous to that addition.
In conclusion, over all we have been very pleased with Penny Realty. When we call, we always get a reasonable response. We believe that any property management company is going to have growing pains. Mostly, Penny keeps their issues under control. They have done a good job at keeping our units rented and rents appropriate for the area. We do appreciate what they have done.

Comfortable, clean and cute house unit right between beach and bay beach. Walk to shops, Belmont amusement park, restaurants and grocery market. Location was right in the middle of everything we wanted, yet amazingly quiet. We didn't want to leave! Penny's was easy and cooperative to work with. Thanks!

Horrible service. They give an attitude when you simply ask them questions. They constantly defer and delay progress. Jennifer Woods and Patricia Terry totally dismissed the concerns of residents and pass the buck. Was told to not contact them and speak to the owner directly. Property management companies are supposed to solve issues for owners & residents, not create them. Very disrespectful.

We have 3 units under property management for long-term rental with Penny Realty and are extremely pleased with their responsiveness both to our tenants' needs and to our requests. Jennifer does great work as the bookkeeper and we receive monthly statements - and deposits, very quickly at the start of each month. It is a pleasure to work with their entire team.

Had an amazing vacation at a Mission Beach rental house we found on Airbnb and handled by Penny Realty and Jeff V. The house was clean, well stocked in the kitchen, nice beach and bath towels and a few beach toys in the garage. We had an issue with the wifi/cable and Jeff came straight over to fix it. Great customer service.

This company may care about their rentals, but they sure do not care about the neighbors of their establishment on Hornblend and Mission. 10-15+ transients hanging around this property every day, screaming, fighting, drinking, doing drugs. Sad to see that they do not even try to enforce a no loitering policy

New to the area as a military family, we needed a month or two furnished rental for our transition. Penny Realty, and specifically Melissa, were very helpful to our unique needs. The Oasis, 3630 Bayside Walk, with beautiful views was more than we expected and turned a stressful transition into a relaxing and pleasurable time that we enjoyed! The apartment was well stocked with anything we might need for a lengthy stay, even a crock pot!

This place (Brighton Shores) was better than it looks in the pictures! I loved the view, the ability to lie in bed and watch and hear the waves crash, and the location. Penny Realty Inc. was really great to work with! The rental process was smooth and I would recommend Penny Realty Inc. to my friends and family.

This is for our Airbnb rental, "Mission Beach Tower #1": Our family had a great mini-vacation here. There were only 3 of us, and I felt like there was enough space to sleep 5-6 comfortably if we wanted. We love to cook, and were happy with all the kitchen amenities. We never felt like we were missing anything. The location is a beach-lovers dream. You have two beaches to choose from, and both are a 5 minute walk away. Either catch some waves on the coast, or enjoy some peace & quiet at Mariners Basin. Belmont Park is also a short walk away, where there are some fun rides, shops, and restaurants. During our stay we went to Seaworld, which was about an 8 minute car ride away (We Uber'd there for about $7), and the Zoo which took about 15 minutes. There is a small market down the street where you can buy most groceries from, otherwise the nearest grocery store (Ralph's) is about a 10 minute drive away. If I had one complaint, it would be that the area isn't the best for families once the sun goes down. Lots of loud drunk college kids throwing house parties, coming in & out of the bars down the block, and hanging around in the street. I asked one of the Market owners if this was a regular thing, and he said it was fairly common on weekends. It was a holiday weekend, so maybe they were more active than usual, but something to be wary of if you enjoy your peace and quiet.

Jennifer has become our new contact at Penny Reality and we've had a great experience with her! We had an issue with someone graffiti-ing our garage and fence and she was very quick and responsive to get someone out here to help us.
