Emergency Hershey is very, very bad comes with my girls because they had 4 days with fever and it left us waiting for 4 hours just for when you get to the fourth ask us why they are here, they should put people who are passionate in their work not inectas people who do not know what hacena everyone must be treated well and as quickly as possible paid for a service and should put out the word EMERGENCY, not everyone is willing to wait that long have priority in children, ansianos and pregnant

They offer great medical care, they get 5 stars for the care they give. However the maze to get to where you are going I'm going with 4 stars. If it was easier to find out where you are at and where you're supposed to go to find the person you are visiting. I would give 5 stars on all counts.

Came in not busy at all. People standing all around doing nothing. They took an xray and we have been sitting here for hours upon hours with no update. And its always like this. If you come here for any given reason from a ear infection to stitches to anything else expect to sit for 6-9 hours or longer before leaving.

I visitd the Penn State ER on Sunday May 7 . Wanting to not get into to much detail. It was the worst experience I have ever had from an ER Visit. The doctor was unknowledgeable in his diagnosis. and was a waste of $100.00 dollar copay. I also asked to speak to someone else and they were as bad or worst than my doctor. The staff was having a social hour in the hallway outside of my room the whole time I was there, even though it took them forever to do anything for me . I followed up with my family doctor the next day which told me not to take one of the doctors prescriptions that he had prescribed and agreed that what the doctor was trying to diagnose me with was totally unfounded. I was at another ER on Saturday morning and I would rate them and A and Penn State ER an F. I will never go back to that Penn State ER ever again. I experienced it and am a true believer that Lebanon Wellspan ER is the better choice.

Hershey Medical Center ER and hospital gave me excellent service last month. I was patient in both the ER Covid Tent and later the ER because the ER was so packed and then the ER. I don't understand the negative comments. Hershey is an excellent hospital and their entire staff deserves to be complimented all around. My grandchild is a patient in the Children's Hospital and the same is true. The day we called with her specialists explanation of her medical problem she was given an appointment the next day and we spent 3 or 4 days a week for the next several months there until she could be diagnosed. When you or your family member is ill, and you don't know where to turn, there is no better treatment in our area than Hershey Medical Center. There are specialists there so beloved by their patients that it can be hard to get an appointment. We found this out because of spending so much time at the hospital.

Uncle came in for cancer side of hospital, they sent us to er to get him admitted. Get this..mid 70s yr old frail man w cancer is sitting in er now for way over an hour & no rooms yet. Something has to be done. U cannot keep a cancer patient who has a lump on his bottom sitting for this long. This is totally unacceptable! DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS! THIS IS EXACTLY WHY U ALL NEED UR LITTLE SO CALLED RENT A COPS! BC PATIENTS & THEIR FAMILIES R TIRED OF U ALL TREATING THEM LIKE CATTLE!

I was asked where I wanted to go for a Thyroid surgeon, I chose Milton Hershey, and very glad I did, the surgeon I saw was really good, his name is David Goldberg and he really knows his stuff...
Also their Childrens section is a top pick for me as well...over all our regions hospitals this is the best no matter what your physical needs, and they have valet parking, it's only $5.00 but I too the Valet...they are a nice group of ppl that tend to ur vehicle!

My five stars are for the Pediatric Oncology Dept. the nurses, staff, and doctors are amazing. The EMergency department has some work to do such as making sure to take my son off the board so he can go to his room rather than back to ER and then they gave his room away. Also ER needs to do some clinic in peds dept to access PORTs. They hardly ever can do it the first time. I am glad they are expanding because oncology patients should never be put in the waiting room with all the contagious people.

Had an appointment with Dr. Suzanne Morrill for a second opinion. She was informative and helpful in providing details that will assist me in pursuit of the best treatment option. Before talking with her, we were also provided good information from Dr. Geiger, a 4th year Resident.

I was born here. Everytime I've had any broken bones it's always been taking care of from This wonderful hospital ! In 2014 at the age 19 I was In a bad car accident I was put on life support until life lion got there to take me to the Hershey med trauma center .which Dr Chandler and the rest i thank all of them for a second chance in life! Horrible experience. Too many new inexperienced doctors or residents. We were given wrong information by the 2 doctors and one of the nurses too. It's a lot of things that happened I just don't feel like writing 10 pages

Whoever designed the emergency room dropoff should be fired. Absolutely atrocious! The distance from closest parking (if you can get parking) is too far. There are no walking lanes for people, so there was a whole slew of people walking in the driving lane to pull into ER, there s a stop sign that causes a traffic jam for people trying to get to the ER. I suggest doing real life scenarios and walk throughs to see the time frame and full experience of trying to drop patients, including the time it takes to get a wheel chair.

Most of the people who are giving them 1 star are people who didn't come to the ER with an emergency and had to wait, or people who don't understand HIPPA is a law. I love all the doctors who work here and trust all of them to treat me. I came to this ER once, bleeding out and they did everything they could for me and I was out in three days. These people saved my life. Be a little more grateful to the people who save lives on a regular basis and if you have an eye infection or stubbed your toe, take yourself to Patient First and stop crowding up the ERs and then get mad they take forever to see you.

Hershey Medical is a joke, don't go to any of their affiliated doctors, for 20 minute doctors visit in Elizabethtown the doctors office charged $209 ,ok I can almost see that. But Hershey Medical charged an additional $115 for using one of their doctors. What a joke!! I'll go somewhere else .Hershey Medical tries to rip the people off who actually have insurance.

This place is awesome! The nurses and staff are extremely caring and considerate of how I was feeling and my needs. I'm expecting a baby in December, and when I had to go to them they made sure me and my baby were both healthy. Definitely coming back here in the future when needed! Thank you Hershey!

Came in the ER, sat in hallway for three hours o body informing me of anything. Got transferred to COVID wing, I was the only person in a bed with six others. They were more concerned with taking vitals and giving the gut shot every. Day so you don t get bed sores! It hurts. I didn t have COVID!! I had two nurses I saw once each.

This was all for a two night observation of my heart which was at 135 by Fitbit called 911. No ambulance for 15 min.
Diagnosis SVT. But the good found a cardiology team that is awesome. THEB ER was 1/10. Nursing 3/10.

The Children's Hospital Cardiothoracic Surgery and Pacemaker Clinic Physicans and Staff are top notch! 10 stars for them!! In patient nursing & residents not so much and the ENT office manager and scheduling staff get a -10!! Appalling!

I'm not pleased with the mechanical clinical experience but generally the doctors are good so it's the experience you need then you go here. I find industrialed medicine leaves a lot to be desired though.

We really experienced a tough discrimination in the emergency, they said the patient alone but they let other husband and wife be together. That was not the first time. Before my son 2 years old had an appointment but they said only one of us could be with him, my wife s English was not enough to understand medical terms and I couldn t take care of my son better than his mom. But they let other couple with their baby together.
I would give no star for the bad service.

Best Hospital, Doctors, Nurses & Staff. I've been a cancer patient for almost 6 years. Dr Kesterson is The Best Surgeon. He has performed several surgeries on me for my cancer. I know there is no cure for my cancer but because of him & the excellent care I have received & continue to receive from everyone at the hospital I am alive & doing quite well. I understand some folks frustration with waiting, I used to feel the same. But all that changed when my persistant cancer returned for the second & third time & I was the one who needed "stat" care. I felt terrible because I knew they were "fitting me in" at the last minute & I was the reason for others having to wait. Now I understand. Everyone there is doing the best they can & always with a smile & kindness. God Bless them All. They are Angels .

I recommend this hospital because the doctors and nurses are sooo awesome! I had the best care I can ever have when I was in the hospital for a few days. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease 2 years ago and I have been going there ever since. Child Life is soooo nice to me and my family!!!!! I have a doctor named Dr Fields and he is so nice and he gives me the best care!

I am, unfortunately, a mixed reviewer.

I am, unfortunately, a mixed reviewer.

Let me start with the worst, then you can choose whether to keep reading on I would *never* give birth here *ever* again. After reading reviews about how awesome of a hospital PSHMC is and how wonderful their maternity department was, I was excited to give birth here. I wish that my experience had even a tiny bit lived up to my expectations and hopes. Upon entry, we were informed this is a teaching hospital. I didn't mind this fact as long as the appropriate supervisors were present. The nurse staff prior to giving birth were incredible. It all went downhill when it came time for my epidural. The *student* went to put the exposed needle into my spine and nervously dropped the needle into the waste bin. He then picked it up and attempted to reuse it. The anesthesiologist overseeing the student did nothing to stop him from putting a dirty needle in my spine. If it weren t for my husband demanding a new needle, he would have put a dirty needle into my spine. Once the epidural was in place, it only worked on one side of my body. A few hours passed and I was 10cm dilated and ready to push. Upon looking around the room, there were easily 25 people in there watching me in one of my most vulnerable positions. I tore really badly, and the people in the room said hey did not know how to stitch me where I tore. In my hazy state I said okay and held my beautiful baby without a care in the world. About an hour after giving birth, an older woman walked in and introduced herself as the on-call OB and apologized for missing my birth but it looks like my students took great care of you. READ. THAT. AGAIN. That means that I gave birth in a room full of 25 students and NOT ONE of them was a full-time OB. It wasn t until my 6 week check up that I was told that I should not have left the hospital without being stitched, and leaving me unstitched meant permanent damage to my ladybits. After going to my room for my lovely three day stay, the nursing staff was awful. Every one of them had a different opinion of how I should care for my child, so I left the hospital not knowing whether or not I should do certain things, like clean the area near baby s belly button, because literally every nurse had a different opinion on it. I had also requested a lactation consultant the second I entered my room and continued to ask all three days and didn't see one until I had my bags packed and baby in her carrier ready to walk out the door.

Since then, I have had okay experiences in the ED personally. I was just seen not long ago in the updated ED and had a good experience. I think the ED excels at working with adults, but not so much when it comes to pediatrics. My daughter has had consistently awful experiences there with the exception of ONE time (because she was dressed as a princess and everyone ranted and raved about it). When she was an infant, she was prone to stomach bugs. The after-hours nurse instructed me to take her to the ER several times when this happened, and every time we ended up with a cocky, condescending student who would write us off as overly protective and often rolled their eyes at us. Keep in mind, the only reason we felt the need to bring our daughter in is because the after-hours nurse told us to. There was one time we had a student who couldn t even be bothered to put down his sandwich and chew his food before opening his mouth to talk to us. Good thing my daughter doesn t have any allergies since he spit his food all over her and us.

Overall, I would advise against going to this hospital for specialty (ie OB and pediatric) purposes, but if you sever a limb, they re pretty decent at doing their job.

THE WORSE HOSPITAL TO ATTEND, SPECIALLY IF YOU ARE PREGNANT . YOU COULD HAVE 7 MONTH PREGNANT AND THEY WILL SCHEDULE YOU FOR 2 MONHS APPOINTMENT....EMPLOYEE DON'T SCHEDULE THE APPOINTMENT THE DAYS THEY TELL YOU THEY HAVE, AND YOU END UP MISSING YOUR APPOINTMENTS. THE MANAGER NEVER CALLS WHEN YOU LEAVE A VOICE MESSAGE. DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU'RE PREGNANT.

The nurses were extremely rude. I was there for epileptic and non epileptic seizures and was constantly being yelled at and scolded. No one called my emergency contacts. And I was left in urine and feces for hours. I got there probably around nine and I was back to myself at about 1am. Because I suffer from severe depression and seizures I am there frequently....to get help. They made fun of past attempts to take my life. And said I was playing some sort of game with them. Last night made me want to shy away from any future help I may need whether its mental or physical. They became instantly kind when my mom showed up. It just baffles me how these nurses can treat people like this and think it's okay. Please don't send your loved ones here who are unable to speak for themselves for any reason or are mentally ill. Please stay with them and make sure they get the help they need.

Sat in the er waiting room for 31/2 hours with my boyfriend and still not seen by a dr while numerous people came in after and were taken back. They say they go by acute cases but after watching people sit and laugh and joke around it seems they better rethink their strategy. Never again!!! Will we come here.

My doctor's office sent me to the ED because it eased the only place I could get a treatment he thought I'd need. About 11 hours in, no word. They took blood, urine, a CT scan. Can't drink water. People are in hallways, the had no room in the waiting room and filthy restrooms. There has to be a better way. Maybe if the nurses were in charge things would run better

I cant relate to the neg responses. Its a busy hospital not luxury hotel. Doctors to the rn and everyone in between has been awesome and professional. Fixing mistakes made by other hospitals and im so thankful.

First the food selection is terrible. The rooms are dirty, paint on the walls chipped and faded. The biggest problem is the drama staff. They have an intercom system where they listen in on the patients and visitors. This is a violation of HIPPA law. Too lazy to do regular checks, they sit in the nurses station and listen to patients. Not a friendly hospital.

Not even one star. My 53 year old son-in-law trus...

Not even one star. My 53 year old son-in-law trusted the surgeons at Hershey to perform a delicate, serious operation. After only three days they discharged him. He was back in the hospital within 48 hours. Doctors, nurses seemed detached from their patients and patients' families. After six months of chemo and ileostomy he went back to Hershey for reversal surgery. That was on July 11, 2016. Again, the hospital released him within 48 hours. He has been back and forth from home to Hershey on FIVE separate occasions. Tomorrow he will have another surgery. I think the doctors and staff have proven incompetent in this situation. The surgeon has not even called my son-in-law's wife (my daughter) to apprise her of the operation(s). He leaves that to a staff that is overrun with patients: they have no time to spare for caring for patients or speaking knowledgeably with them and their families. This has been a harrowing ordeal, fueled by incompetence, apathy and total lack of empathy. Nightmare! I wouldn't put my dog in their care.

Going to the hospital is never a "fun" experience,...

Going to the hospital is never a "fun" experience, especially when you enter via the ER, however, I give them five stars after my recent experience. I woke up in the middle of the night with sudden, horrible pains and when we arrived at the ER the place was packed... every bed full, it seemed, and then some! However, this didn't seem to affect the quality of care they provided. There were multiple people (nurses, doctors, students, administrators, etc) attending to my needs. I never felt abandoned or "in the dark" as to what was happening, as I've felt at other hospitals with other experiences with other family members. We even overheard other conversations (through the thin curtains) with other people loudly complaining and swearing and treating the staff rudely, but even in those situations, we heard the staff acting professionally and treating those people with the same degree of kindness and professionalism they gave us, despite the bad attitudes thrown at them. Long story short, my case turned out to be a painful gallbladder attack... if you're reading this and you're a woman in your 40's, do yourself a favor and cut back on foods with saturated fats... gallbladder pain is tough and something you'll want to avoid if at all possible!!!

The receptionists at UPC 2400, gastroenterology, are extreme rude and don't understand what people go through. They are not comforting or understanding of patients dilemmas. We have been coming HMC since my daughter was born 21 years ago and I've never been more upset and mad.

Well, they haven t killed me, yet! Maybe I should get out while the getting is good. The patient Advocates at Hershey Medical Center are a joke. Complete waste of time. Don t even bother contacting them. Let s talk about Interventional Radiology. I need an ankle injection becauseI m having a lot of pain around my ankle implant. I left message after message after message on an answering machine. Did I ever get a call? No! What do I do next? I contact a patient advocate. The patient advocate took my information, but never returned a call to me, as promised. Meanwhile, I had emailed my doctor regarding the inability to get an appointment with interventional radiology. I received an email in return from the medical assistant in his office. She stated she contacted Interventional Radiology who proceeded to state I canceled one appointment and I was a no-show for another. I am absolutely livid!!! First there s no way in Hell I will ever get any injections from the radiology department at Hershey Medical Center. The reason? Well if they re gonna lie about appointments and scheduling and not returning phone call, why would I trust them with my health? Maybe I wouldn t be so burned up about the patient advocates lack of doing their job. However, I contacted them several years ago after surgery when it really bothered me that I was given ice in postoperative recovery and the male nurse who is feeding me ice was doing it with his bare hand. I could barely speak, but I was able to squeeze out the words, you don t have a glove on? . Needless to say, when he returned a little while later with more ice chips, he had a glove on. So, after being home a week or two. and the thought of this dirty nurse still on my mind, I decided to call a patient advocate. (I am a nurse, too BTW.) I told the advocate my story. She proceeded to ask are you sure he didn t have a glove on? . Wow! All faith was lost at that point! I could go on about my emergency department visit, which was just horrendous. However, I just don t have the energy at the moment. Now I m in the market for a new interventional radiology department that has It together! Hershey Medical Center should feel their nerve! Thanks for listening!

My second experience at this hosp. First with my significant other who had a stroke in 2018.He survived and is in rehab. (Thank you stroke center.) Second with my young son (39) who had a heart attack which also affected his brain. Both experiences have been exceptional. The hospital staff, nurses and doctors and everyone involved were wonderful . Very organized and efficient. Thank you Heart and vascular for saving my sons life.

I'm not a fan of hospitals or doctors but I must say that I'm very impressed with the levels of care, kindness, knowledge and professionalism that I've witnessed tonight. This also goes for what little I've witnessed of other patients.

Despite my rare condition, the doctors (Dr. Jennifer Erich, Dr Al, Dr Saadi, Dr Patel and Dr. Kelly collaborated extremely well to disgnose, treat and safeguard my health.

In ICU, Samantha and Andrea took great care of me. Most importantly these nurses were compassionate and very humane.

Went in to the emergency room with an EMERGENCY, just to sit in a room for 3 hours and receive 0 help. Thanks a lot, for literally nothing, last time I checked, hospitals were supposed to HELP people? Needless to say if you have an actual life threatening emergency, you better go somewhere else.

Here today 7/13/20,ear pain and other issues that they claim they can't address in the ER. But also it's not a typical room, there are 6 chairs in the same room and several people came in and left and NO ONE SANITIZED ANY OF THE CHAIRS. discusting dirty place.

The emergency room is a joke!!! They place you in a small room with another patient right next to you with a thin curtain. They come in and ask personal questions with the other person and their family two feet away. I do believe this is a major HIPPA violation and needs to be addressed now. I will report this!

First time with HERSHEY labor and delivery. I came to HERSHEY because after 10 years my husband and I were expecting our fifth child. I had prior four c sections. All in Chester county. And all bikini cut and back to back. 2005, 2006, miscarriage in 07, 2008 and 2009. Our last c section was not great. Lots of adhesions, scar tissue, preeclampsia, blood transfusion ect. Anywho I decided to come to Hershey seeing there supposed to be the best. I was scheduled for August 12. I came in August 2. Very itchy. They decided to take him out due to high elevations with hormones and didn't want to risk still birth. So as far as surgical, absolutely wonderful. The surgery team worked with my crushed disc to get my spinal tap. The staff was very kind. The c section took lots of hours. From 6:30 pm to around 10:30 pm. Three surgeons on board. They cut higher than my bikini cut. My son was breathing heavy. And also wound up in NICU for a day with feeding tube due to low blood sugar. I went in Friday, out by Monday. So surgery team wonderful. The NICU very wonderful as well. Lactation consultant to help me they were simply amazing. They helped out so much. The bad rating I am giving is the post care. I know nurses are very busy and tired. I never used my call bell bell or anything. I always try to be kind and appreciate what privilege we have to medical hospitals and medical staff. Out of post care, only two women were kind. Made sure I got my medication. I had a nurse refused to give me my son and pushed me in the bathroom cause I wore my nightgown the other way. It was tied up but I had it that way cause I was doing skin to skin and breast feeding. She pointed her finger in my face and then proceeded to push me. I had no time to really recover. After my c section they left my son in the room and I told them I could not get up and attend to him I was still very dizzy and could not walk. He cried and I screamed in pain trying to get up, almost fell. Then the last straw was when I asked a nurse if she can please help me. I took a shower and could not reach to take off the bandage off my scar and was dripping wet and in pain. My husband thank God came in to help me. Overall post care was horrible. They even went as far as assuming my husband and I had state insurance. When my husband has very wonderful union benefits through his operation engineers. But I am still appreciate of the surgery team to keep me alive. Thank you.

My son went here when he was 5 weeks old with a severe case of RSV and UTI and they rushed him in on oxygen and a nice room that he shared with a another child. They were fast attentive and very friendly and honest with parent I would always recommend this hospital every time. They also make arangments for u to sleep at Ronald McDonald house with free stay and transportation.

I recently visited the Emergency Room. My 6 week old son had a bad cough and wasn t feeling well. I arrived at the same time as another couple with their newborn baby, around 9:15pm. They were taken back rather quickly. My son saw a nurse for triage at 10pm. I then waited in the lobby waiting area until 12:45. According to the nurses, the pediatric portion of the facility was at maximum capacity. I, however, saw 4 different children and their families leave 40 min prior. One of those families being the couple who arrived at the same time as myself. I asked the nurse again why my son hasn t been seen by a doctor. She told me with an attitude that it s not by arrival but by how quickly a patient needs seen. I told her that my son was 6 weeks old. How is he not a priority. She said I understand but the pediatric is full. Again shortly and with an attitude. I took my son and left. I went to UPMC Harrisburg and he was seen immediately. He had a fever, that Hershey didn t detect. He had his tests drawn, doctor and pediatrician seen him, all in About an hour or less. I will never go to this hospital again. How a sick 6 week old infant isn t a priority is beyond me. Don t waste your time here. Staff isn t friendly or helpful. Id give it zero stars if I could.

Worst experience at an ER!!! After sister was admitted, her room was given away while she was getting a procedure, leaving us in a breezy busy hallway for hours! When I asked to go to my car for warmer clothes, I was told that I could not reenter. I was then admonished for moving 3 feet in the hallway to get out of the wind tunnel. When I asked for a room, I was told there were none available, while a clean empty room sat within eyesight.

I was reading all of the comments people have put and I am just appalled at how poorly these people are rating this hospital. The emergency room is going to be a long wait because PSHMC is an amazing and also very popular hospital. Many people go there so there is going to be a longer wait. I have had surgery, MRIs, and EEGs and every time I ve been there they have been nothing but nice and helpful. All the people giving Hershey med a on star please consider the staff who is working hard to help EVERYONE at the same time. Thank you

Was referred to Dr. Guy Slonimsky MD for severe issues relating to ENT treatment. Awful bedside manner. Did not want to do anything, and even after pointing out other issues that contradicted his other statements, I could tell this Dr. did not want to do anything to help me. I will no longer pay for top rated insurance with high premiums when I get no care whatsoever from these doctors who refuse to care for their patients. Awful experience. Go anywhere else. I went here due to the high reviews only to feel scammed. You will notice there are no other reviews for this dr other then what Hershey provides and 1 other 5 star suspicious review. Sad that this is what healthcare has turned into, but its the truth. Stay away from this guy.

this office is rude, helpless and no care about patients, how the doctors continue to get paid is clueless to me. no doctor returns calls for weeks at a time, they do not take care of paper work, when a office refuses to see a or schedule a patient for medical reasons and a doctor perscribes medication to a patient that you are allergic too it is pretty bad, make sure you avoid this office i wish i did!!!!

I have had 9 surgeries here, including a kidney transplant, all doctors, PAs, RNPs, and nurses have been wonderful. I have been admitted through the ER and depending on the level of my need I received either immediate attention or had to wait for several hours. However, I was always evaluated quickly to determine the severity of my reason for being there. I realize that going to the ER doesn't mean I come first. Others may have extreme needs and should be see seen first. I recommend this hospital over others.

I love this Hospital! Yes, it s a little confusing navigating it while they expand and remodel, but they are growing! From the cheerful and very helpful volunteers to my Pulmonologist whom I absolutely love, Penn State Health is great!

My wife was recently hospitalized for a few days. Valerie F., on the 3rd floor, was an exceptional nurse. My wife says the best nurse she's ever had. She was kind, compassionate, and made my wife laugh after a bad experience with another nurse. If you're ever unfortunate enough to be in the hospital, we hope you have her as a nurse.

After accompanying my husband to Dr. Ayanardi's office recently as a new patient, our experience was nothing other than exceptional. Each employee we encountered was smiling, happy and helpful. The doctor and his P.A. (or resident, as I am not sure) was just as friendly and professional. I came back to my office and relayed how my experience was to our own staff as to instill this is how an office should be.
