Shortsighted and temporary above-ground "solutions...

Shortsighted and temporary above-ground "solutions" and they do not mind endangering the lives of their repair crews as long as the temporary solution is quick and cheap. Making matters even more frustrating is that you can only speak to an automated phone service on the weekends.

Amazing that in the richest country on Earth, we are still using antiquated and unreliable above ground power lines, especially in windy areas with high tree density. Absolutely shortsighted and stupidly cheap way to operate. If they burried their power lines, they wouldn't have to constantly repair them, piss off their customers and endanger their repair crews whenever a slight breeze happens.

I called to schedule a temp pole hookup after havi...

I called to schedule a temp pole hookup after having a trench dug and the lines installed by an electrician. I was told that the appt couldn't be scheduled until the job was inspected. After the inspection I called Pen Light again, and was asked if the trench was back-filled (it wasn't), so I was told the appt could not be scheduled. At that time I already had an appt to have the trench filled so I asked if I could book an appt from Pen Light since they are booking 5-7 days out. I was told that I couldn't book the appt because they might come out the same day I book the appt. So...I waited until I had the trench back-filled and called Pen Light AGAIN, hoping they still had those same-day appts. But when I was finally able to make the appt I was told I would have to wait 5-7 days. All of this multiple calls and frustration for me (because I've never done this before) could have been easily avoided if the person I spoke to had been truly helpful. If she had said on the first call "You have to have the work inspected and you have to have the trench backfilled, and you also have to....(whatever other requirements there are). Oh and also, most times we're booked 5-7 days out but sometimes a technician could come the same day. Finally, I know you've never done this before, so do you have any other questions?" THAT would have been helpful! Instead, I got a customer "service" person who used the line "we only hook it up; everything else is the customer's responsibility", and who clearly was not there to help. This line I heard over and over "we only hook it up; everything else is the customer's responsibility" was completely unhelpful to me. I led to me having to call multiple times, which made me frustrated, and also meant more work for Pen Light because they had 3 phone calls from me instead of one. If they had just been pro-actively helpful the first time I called, the multiple calls and frustration from my end could have been avoided. I sincerely hope that once I get my electrical hooked up that Pen Light will be more helpful and provide better customer service than what I've experienced so far. At this point I would choose another electrical provider if I could, but unfortunately I can't.

They care more about the feelings of drivers that are a hazard to the road than the flaggers and crew on the road doing the work. I almost got hit by a lady in an escalade and she got mad that I wasn't forgiving of her taking mine and others peoples lives in her stupid hands which shouldn't ever operate a shopping cart let alone a vehicle. So she called to complain and the morons at Penn light indulged her pity party instead of reporting her to the police. No wonder more people are murdered by cars in a year than by firearms....

Our power went out today during the snow storm. PenLight answered immediately when we called to report it and were very friendly. They were overwhelmed by power outages yet they still had our neighborhood's power back in 3 hours. Great job Pen Light!!!

They are fantastic! We had a tree fall and knock out the power. Within 30 minutes they had someone out here and within the hour it was fixed. I didn t like that you had to pay into the Co-op, but with service as quickly as that, I can t complain. Thank you for taking care of the issue so efficiently!

I live on the bottom of the Key Peninsula-very woodsy! Peninsula Light has always gave me great service. I have never been shut off due to unability to pay a bill, as long as I called them ahead of time and let them know I was going to be late. WIthin the past 14 years, with all the storms, accidents and trees falling-Pen. Light has always repaired the lines quickly when down. I have went days without electricity due to a power line being down a handful of times-the worst was three days! but thats what happens when you live deep in the woods! I give 4 out of 5 starts due to great and quick service. I give 4 instead of 5 because they are pricey.

Peninsula Light has been wonderful. I have been a member for about 48 years and the service has been great. They have tried to do what they can to minimize outages, but Mother Nature doesn't always cooperate. The crews work really hard to get power back on each time . Thank you, guys for all your hard work!! Please, be safe out there!!

Peninsula Light is a horrible company. We live on ...

Peninsula Light is a horrible company. We live on a house built in 2001. A little over a week ago we lost power to most of ours house. We called peninsula light and they came out and told us that we have a wire underground between our house and the transformer that is damaged. We have never dug around this area and have no trees near it. We would assume that this is not our responsibility however they gave us a paper to sign saying that to give is a service saver so that we can have power we must agree to get it fixed ourselves and hire a contractor. On this form was a page of recommended electricians that we should call. This form was ready to go but it seems to me that it shouldn't be a common occurrence. Anyways, eventually we signed the form to get the service saver after calling a company saying that it would cost $500-$600 to fix. Let me remind you that this is not a problem we at all caused. We didn't put the wires in the ground nor have we dug anywhere close to that area. Well we were just on the phone with the company that is going to come fix it and the situation hasn't changed except for some reason the costs is more expensive. Let's just say I'm very upset at peninsula light so I decided to go to their Facebook page and read some reviews. I see that peninsula light took care of this same issue (except this person did have a plumbing company cause this damage) for someone else in December of 2016. Why are they not willing to take of their problem. We shouldn't be responsible for wires between the house and the transformer.
