We had a great time. Love the place, the locale, and the friendly servers. Nikki is a Superstar!!! Oh, and the Lone Star Beer with the Tequila chaser helped me wit my rheumatism. LOL.

Stopped in for lunch and let me tell you the food was amazing! I would definitely recommend! What made the experience top notch was the service. Our server Shelly knew her stuff! Very attentive and professional.

Shelly was the most attentive, and very down to Earth, can t wait to go back and be served by her!

The food here is awesome... all the meats are perfectly seasoned... awesome carnitas, but I recently stopped eating meat so now I order their black bean spinach enchiladas or verde tacos and they are still just as amazing. And every once in a while I cheat and order the spicy shrimp tacos (I cant quit them) The staff is friendly and attentive and the happy hour deals are killer.. 2-7 everyday except Sunday because happy hour is ALLL DAY

Love this place! Every time I ve been the service has been excellent, but Samantha always makes sure we not only receive our orders promptly but have a fantastic time as well. Such a fun place to host a girls night out.

Love love love. Always our go to when we re in town (which I wish was more often). Food is always fresh and delicious. Drinks are s t i f f. My favorite kind! Service is always on par. This last time, Jack took care of us and we had a great time. Knowledgeable, attentive, and never let my marg levels get too low. See y all next time!

We took my dad here for his birthday and I m sorry that we did. The food was cold and our waitress was rude, short and uninterested in being at work that day. We were the only table in the restaurant yet we still had to ask her multiple times for pretty much everything we ordered. It took her at least 15-20 minutes to bring us our drinks and she never came around to give refills on waters. When it came time to pay, she just came out with her machine to the table and stuck out her hand for the credit card. When my dad asked if he could see the bill so he could check it, her response was, I can print it out for you after you pay, but you can t see it now. What kind of service is that? So disappointed. We will not be going back.

The chips and salsa were good but the combo lunch plate was bland and dry. I was shocked because I was expecting it to be really good. My waitress was nice though....

One of the reasons we went to Texas was for the Tex Mex and this place was EXACTLY what I wanted. Our server Tai was especially cute and friendly. I ll be back again when we visit Austin for sure.

Be aware that the steak fajitas for two are excellent & huge. Fresh veggies & tender steak. Grilled zucchini gets a thumbs-up. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner & are very satisfied. Finally, I cannot say enough wonderful & positive things about the team of Jay & Jerry. They both enjoy what they do & have the best attitudes. We will definitely come again if we re ever back in Austin.

My bartender was really helpful with drink selection. They have great food and a soothing atmosphere.

We checked into our hotel and needed a place for a late lunch that was within walking distance. We looked on the map and picked by distance from the hotel rather than anything else.

We really lucked out with Pelons! We have lived in the East for decades, where genuine Tex-Mex food is impossible to find; being Westerners, we know good from bad, just OK from great. Eating at Pelons was like coming home.

We arrived at about 1:30 pm, so it was not at all busy. Super-friendly service, a menu that was short enough to show that they didn t try to do dozens of things poorly, but concentrated on the standards done well. We both had enchiladas plates beef and chicken. It was great. Generous portions, perfectly spiced; made both of us wonder why we ever left the west.

A real gem - We will return every time we come to Austin.

The chips the waitress brought to our table were almost chewy they were so old and stale.

The chicken fajitas had no flavor at all and were so over cooked, some of the pieces had the texture of jerky.

The beans were also completely flavorless.

For 20+ dollars, I would have had a more enjoyable meal from a gas station.

Go somewhere else. There is nothing redeemable about this place. I should have known better when I saw the place completely empty at peak lunch hours.

We stopped in Sunday for brunch, as weren't able to be seated at Stubb's BBQ. What a surprise Pelons was. We loved the cozy feel and layout of the bar - and the Bloody Mary DYI setup was awesome. The tortilla chips where fresh, great salsa's, excellent food. We will definitely visit again when we are back in town.

Delicious! Great Tex Mex place, with a quality salsa and tortilla soup. Loved the outdoor seating, and service was phenomenal. We were the first lunch customers of the day, but were still served quickly.

Food wasn t that great actually. And the menu was extremely sparse.

I just want to say thank you fir all the positive reviews. I fell in love with this place as soon as i started working here! I honestly couldnt see myself working anywhere else. Thank you to management for giving me the oppurtunity!!!

Inside and outside seating options. Outside was a sheltered raised decking with some good music playing from surrounding speakers.

Food was great, started with complimentary corn chips and fresh salsa then on to tacos which were of good quality and met my expectations for a Tex-Mex restaurant in Texas. Refried beans and pulled pork were both on point.

Price was fair for the standard and quantity of fare at $40 - 2 x 2 taco dishes (one pulled pork one shrimp) 2 x beans (one refried one black) and 2 x craft beer.

We had THE BEST dinner EVER and our server Jack went above and beyond!

Fun convenient location right near stubbs. 10 out of 10 will highly recommend and definitely be back

We happened to go there to grab a bite just after the creek festival. We ordered the chicken flautas, spinach enchiladas and chicken jimaca. The quantity was sufficient and it came with a choice of Spanish rice, charro, black or kidney beans. It was well cooked and not at all greasy. Also the complimentary salsa sauce which came with the tortilla chips was outstanding. Overall the ambience was interesting which will make me want to visit again typically for a late night meal.

Here for a happy hour and totally enjoyed it. The atmosphere it completely old school Austin. Staff was friendly prompt on point amazing. Their drinks were top notch flavorful and excellent. Decor - unique and a bit off the wall but so inviting. Great place to visit and ill have to come back and try their food.

This is my favorite spot before I head to Stubb s for a show. Their mango margaritas are my favorite. The bar area is quirky and fun. Staff is friendly.

Took me a few visits to realize they had food. It s decent, I have a few things I d order again like the queso, enchiladas, and the carnitas tacos.

2nd time here and definitely coming back. The bartender Jay was great. Very knowledgeable and friendly.

1st of all in walking distance from Hotel. 2nd, great aviance. Seated at table for 2 next to window looking at Stubbs BBQ the view of older type buildings and folks walking all around made it quit a homey feel. The Salsa and Green Salsa was excellent. Ordered some Queso which was very good. Lady friend ordered Spinich and Black Bean Enchiladas which were unique and had a nice bite.I order a Pelon special with 2 Cheese Enchiladas and a Crisp Shell Taco. Ian was a very helpfil waiter and enjoyed conversation I initiated with him. Reasonable in price. One funny thing is the diet soda was pepsi. A Chicago fav as Ian said he was from Chicago. If you are in this area of hotels around Neches or Red River downtown it is worth the visit. Sunday also has all day Happy Hour. Thanx yall for the great experience.

Planned a last minute trip to Austin and needed a private space for a bachelor party dinner. Samantha not only accomodated us but set us up with a special menu that fit our needs perfectly. A big group of guys can be alot and she handled us with ease. Thanks so much Pelons team for being so awesome!

Hostess acted as if giving us a bigger table in a completely empty restaurant was an inconvenience. To make matters worst once seated our waiter spilled an entire picther of water on me and my daughter and the table. My family and I got up and left immediately and took our business elsewhere! If I can rate this place less than 1 star I would!

Nice tex mex choices. Plenty of seating available inside and outside. I visited on a Saturday night, around 10 and was told the kitchen was backed up due to multiple large party tables and the wait for food would be approximately 1hr.
I waited, as I had nowhere to be. Staff did apologize for the inconvenience. I was seated and offered queso , guacamole and salsa. I accepted, thinking management was being considerate and nice, only to find out at the end of bill, I was charged for the chips, queso, guac and salsa. Lol. Total bill for 1 margarita, chips, queso, guac and salsa and chicken ranch quesadillas from the appetizers menu = $60!!!!! I wasn't to happy with the bill. Ok food, but pricey.

It was "date night" for me and my boyfriend and we wanted to try something new so we opted for this place & let me just say that i was sooo happy that we did. We sat on the patio outside which was very comfy and clean. A pleasant breeze and patio lights made for a very romantic setting. The chips and salsa were great and the strawberry margarita was super delicious. I ordered the carnitas tacos and my boyfriend ordered the carnitas quesadillas that came with a "queso" like dipping sauce that will leave your mouth screaming for more. Our waitress Melissa was very attentive and quick. We will definitely be back again!!

Amazing texmex food with plenty of seating inside and outside. Big range of food menu items and wide range of drink selection. Happy and friendly team members who help and fix any queries. Big servings for meals and delicious. Would highly recommend

Man, what a hum dinger of a restaurant. As someone from South Texas, it's got what I grew up with and the new experience I expect out of a thriving Austin establishment.

Service was very slow & my beef quesidas were burned. I didn't have time to send them back or I would have. I had to peal off the burned tortilla so I could even eat them, not to mention they were $13 with no side dish other than about a tablespoon of melted cheese to dip them in. If they had been prepared properly they'd have been good. The filling had good flavor. We were outside, it was a nice day, but the waitor didn't refill our drinks or keep up with the ice. It was my first experience & overall just so so. I love Mexican food so I was disappointed. I've had a lot of different salsas and I didn't really care for theirs.

Food was bland, the staff was downright weird. One waiter collapsed on the floor from a "migraine" and had to be escorted out, another was wearing torn tattered clothes and looked like he hadn't bathed in days, and our waiter couldn't remember an order to save his life. I swear they got their employees from the ARCH.

While visiting family in Austin came to this establishment. The food was excellent and I really enjoyed the outdoor area.

Really cool spot! I liked the family room/family kitchen vibe of the place. In addition, the salsa that comes with the chips was AMAZING! Perfectly smokey and spicy. I ate the Crunchy taco which was good (kinda like a Taco Bell taco) but not too much flavor. I put some of that salsa on it and wow. Would definitely visit again.

My friends and I had such a great experience here! We are visiting Austin for my bachelorette and wanted some yummy Mexican as our first stop. Jack was our server and he was AMAZING! He kept us entertained and we never had to wait for anything. He was so kind and we all could not stop talking about how great the service was. Good chips and salsa. Good margaritas. Poor service. They were kind, but OH MY GOSH slow. It was not busy. It took them an hour and a half to get our tickets to us after we were done eating. And another 25 minutes to get the cards back to us.

Love this place! That cute black girl is the best waitress ever!! Enchiladas are amazing. Try their Paloma. Best Tex mex in Austin!
