Love the atmosphere! Formerly Jaimes village, Pelons is Red Rivers newest Tex-Mex restaurant. They have been open for about a year now, and in my opinion it hasn't gotten the exposure that it deserves. I recommend the queso and altos tequila!

Great place for Mexican food in downtown Austin. Pelons Tex Mex gets a lot of things right. Most importantly the drinks and food are fantastic.
I m a hard judge of a margarita but the margaritas at Pelons are very, very good. You can tell they are hand made and the ones I had were stiff as a brick wall. Delicious. The chips are spot on, fresh, crunchy and very tasted. The salsa is really good with a smoky fire on the back end. The food was great, best shrimp tacos I ve ever had and I ve had quite a few. The carne asada was also great and I m wishing I had some right now.
The place is a delight to see, inviting and warm with a great dash of creativity. Everything is clean and well ordered and the food arrived quickly and as ordered. Above all the staff is very friendly and attentive. I will definitely come here again next time I m in Austin.

Ehhh not the greatest service. The place is nice and the food is okay but the price kind of takes away from it. The kid s menu consists of three items (beef taco, cheese enchilada, or cheese quesadilla) so no variety there but that might be all the variety you need for a kid at a place like this. The fajitas were wonderful, full of flavor and sizzling they re offered in two sizes, 1/2 & 1lbs. The margarita was okay, more sweet and sour than anything. Other than that it has a very Austin vibe.

Patience was a wonderful, attentive waitress! Our food came out very quickly and was outstanding. The steak quesadilla was cooked perfectly and crispy beef tacos hit the spot. Our server made sure we had everything we needed and even made sure we had a full pitcher of ice-cold water so our glasses were never empty. The Higher Shelf margarita with the lava rock salt was superb and the beer selection never disappoints. We regularly recommend Pelons to our friends! Favorite downtown TexMex spot!

Love the food, the atmosphere & the fact they have a dog friendly patio! Our server, Ashely, was very kind, attentive and super helpful with all my questions about Austin (my first time visiting great city!). 10/10 recommended

Overall I liked the restaurant. But the bar tenders were more concerned with chatting with the waitresses and trying to close the bar down than serving the 3 folks at the bar. Additionally, the bar tender pours the beer too fast from the tap creating a 2-3 inch head essentially robbing me of precious ounces of beer.

Sat ourselves because no one acknowledged us. After 5 minutes of a drunk screaming obscenities as the host watched without any inclination of doing anything about it we got up and left...

Great lunch options and friendly welcoming servers and staff. I'm also told by colleagues they have very good margaritas, although I didn't get a chance to sample them. Extensive tequila list though...

Wow! I don't write reviews often but wow. Our visit to Pelons was great mostly due to Samantha. She took really good care of us. She was so informative and provided us with great service. We will make sure to come back again very soon.

We stayed at the hotel next door, so it was like being married, it was good, good enough food and good enough staff, so you aren't interested in wandering off and wasting you're time on something else potentially substandard, as well as being convenient. I wouldn't drive across town for this taco, but it was next door, so good enough.

Wandered in since I was in the neighborhood and was pleasantly surprised on the experience. Good food and an amazing margarita made by Jay, the bar tender. Would def recommend if you are in the area!
