My wife and I started out doing research for our son. We were so impressed with Franklin Culpepper and the staff at Pearson Mazda (and the vehicles, of course) that we ended up purchasing one ourselves. Our son also made his purchase here. We now have the best, most capable vehicles we're ever owned as well as a local dealership that has our trust and loyalty. Thank you Pearson Mazda and Franklin Culpepper!

Making the appointment was easy which is a change. It seems like some enhancements were made to the online tool and it now works great. Communication was great. Now Mazda just needs to come up with a cheaper alternative to replacing a Mazda 6 battery. The cost was ridiculous but that is not Pearson s fault.

This is a review I've been meaning to write since January, but I haven't gotten around to doing so until now. This past January, I went to the dealership and test drove a 2015 Mazda3 S Grand Touring. I loved the car, but the treatment I received after the test drive was awful. First, I was 19 at the time, so they doubted that I could even buy the vehicle -- even after speaking with my grandmother, who had agreed to cosign for me. Mind you, I put $10,000 down on the vehicle, so that should have at least indicated to the dealer that I was serious about purchasing the car. But, the financing guy had no faith in me, and was more concerned about helping the other customers than me. The financing guy behind the counter even made rude comments (to the salesman, but I was able to hear him) about me. They also refused to negotiate on the price, and finally, I just left. I stopped responding to their calls, and the following Friday, I went up to the Mazda dealership in Alexandria, VA. That same day, I walked out with a brand new 2015 Mazda3 S Grand Touring. The treatment I received their was outstanding, and I was treated with the utmost respect. In addition to that, the price tag on the car was significantly less than at Pearson Mazda - about $2500. I advise you to stay away from this dealership! I've also been to Pearson Mazda for service, and they refuse to give me a loaner car (due to my age - I am now 20). Like, what? I bought a brand new car, and I can't even get a loaner vehicle at this dealership. It's very inconvenient.

My annual inspection was due, and with the COVID pandemic going on I was initially concerned since I do not go into public buildings. Fortunately I was able to drop off my car using the overnight box, complete the transactions over the phone, and pick up my keys outside (provided by a masked associate). We purchased a truck from this dealership today. Let me tell you it was a great experience. Our sales associate George was absolutely outstanding. He was very easy to talk to and made us very comfortable. This is a no pressure dealership. The entire staff was great one of the females even got to know our children and helped keep them occupied which was a huge help.

Firstly, I ve never had a better experience with a dealership. I m not new to the Pearson family but this was my first time working with Mazda. Scott, James, and Mike took care of me like I was their family. They saw what horrible situation I was in with CarMax and just wanted to make sure I got out, even if it wasn t with them. While waiting for paperwork to be finalized, Scott say me down and gave me life advice and made sure I knew how to improve my credit in the future. I m grateful to be back with Pearson.

Don't waste your time here. On their website they have "retail prices" crossed off with a big red button that says "click to unlock price" when you click on it they want personal information such as name and phone number or name and email so they can text or email you this supposedly better price. When they contact you its going to be the same price that was crossed out on the website.
In my case the agent stated a retail price that wasn't listed anywhere.
Its mostly a scam to get your personal information and a horrible click bait process that ultimately gets you nothing.

On the very few occasions that there were small mishaps, they worked quickly and diligently to do right by the customer. Great experience at Pearson Mazda! After having quite a few negative experiences at some other local dealerships in the Richmond area, I stumbled upon Pearson Mazda. I think what stands out to me from my experience at Pearson Mazda is that all of the staff members were truly good people--people who are easy to talk with, truly want what is best for you, are open and honest, and treat you how they would want their families treated. I never at any time felt high pressure to do something (which is what I have felt while shopping at other dealerships), and this made buying a car a much better experience. Lindy Hatchett, sales consultant, did a fantastic job walking me through the process including the process of trading my old car in. I enjoyed working with him, and I would like to thank him for truly caring about what would make me happy as a customer. Troy Hernandez, finance manager, also did a fantastic job in the process of financing my car, including providing me with a GREAT interest rate. Thank you Troy! Lindy, Troy, and the other staff members I interacted with went above and beyond to make this a great experience. I would recommend this dealership to my friends and family, and when it comes time to replace the car I just bought, my first stop will be at Pearson Mazda.

We bought our CX-9 from James last year. I can't say enough things about James and how Pearson Mazda staff all around treated us. I am in sales myself and I tell EVERYONE about how wonderful they are and how great they did. We have been back for service at the dealership which is a HUGE deal for me since its a 45 minute ride there however it doesn't matter when we show up James always goes out of his way for conversation and constantly makes sure we are still good. Its been a year.........he got the sale......but doesn't matter he still makes us feel at home when we are there.

We had an excellent experience with Jimmy Bryson! He was honest, knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend Jimmy to anyone. The only down side is a mistake that was made in our paperwork that listed another customers name instead of the correct names. We attempted to contact the finance office numerous times over 2 months and received no help at all and no response. We finally contacted the GM Mike Smith who was able to help this issue be resolved very quickly and with ease. Mistakes happen, but service is everything. I would be putting 3 stars or less if were not for Jimmy's incredible service!

Love this place! As a single lady, car-buying and car repairs can often be a nerve-wracking experience. I've been to other places and the pressure and sense of entitlement is terrible. Pearson Mazda has always been straightforward and honest, friendly and accommodating. Their location is nice inside and the waiting room is great too. Paul Thrasher and John Breder are excellent in the sales department. The service manager, Jud Dauray, made my first oil change in my new car such a great experience the other day that it reminded me why I'm still loyal to Pearson Mazda after all these years. Thanks guys!

All tho i didn t purchase anything from Pearson and almost running him over (standing in front of the vehicle with something metal is not going to work...Paul). Paul was very helpful. If anyone is looking for a Mazda i would recommended talking to Paul Thrasher. Just don't let him test the automatic braking system.

Excellent 5 star service I received at Pearson Mazda. I went there because of good reviews and I was right. I depend on reviews because I'm trying to relocate to Richmond. I want to thank Isaac for his quick and speedy service. Freddie the sales manager will help you in any car there, he sees his customers as family and will treat you like family. I'm so glad I went there, I got a good deal on my 2020 X5. I came in with an advertisement and the price was matched. They really want you to be happy and are looking for life long customers. Last but not least I want to thank Mike Ezell the finance manager for going beyond his job giving some helpful advice I can use in the future. I highly recommend anyone go to Pearson Mazda for your next new or used car.

Loved my experience buying a car at Pearson Mazda! Especially with current events, they were very respectful and clean. I was able to do a test drive alone, everyone was wearing masks, tables and chairs were 6ft apart, and they even wiped down the chairs before anyone sat down! Refreshing to see and gave me a sense of safety while buying a car here. I got a great deal (run!!! get these discounts!!!) and an amazing warranty. Dealers were respectful and patient. Highly recommend coming here if you re looking to buy a car.

Came into Pearson looking to trade my 2019 Camry for a 2013 Charger SRT8 in absolutely spectacular condition. Jay greeted my wife and I, and got straight to business. We got such an amazing deal and the service was amazing! They wiped away the nightmare we had of car shopping a year ago. Everything was so smooth, from pricing, to financing, and paperwork. I am always updated, and never had I felt as if I am being overcharged nor had work done that was not needed. Thank you to Pearson Mazda and Franklin Culpeppar for making the generally less than appealing process of car buying less so... My search for a vehicle took approximately six weeks as I wanted to compare each vehicle in the small SUV category. I ve owned my CX5 for about a month now and love it. Of all the dealers in the area, Pearson was by far the most pleasant to deal with. They answered all of my questions with patience and did not incorporate high pressure tactics and provided the best vehicle for the least cost. Hats off!

Top notch customer service. Dealerships have bad reputations for being high priced. Pearson Mazda is no exception, however, the experience and knowledge should also be considered. For me that is highly valued and worth paying a little more. It's all original parts and repairs are done to factory specifications. They also let me use a loaner while my car was being worked on which saved me a fortune!! It all balanced our when it was all said and done.

Pearson is where I purchased my 14 Cx5.. All service done there.Went for oil change 8/25. Check thoroughly my vehicle. Noted battery corosion. They put in new one 14 months prior. 30 dollars to clean and I declined. Got home, inspection showed excessive positive post corosion. There was no grease applied!!? I completed and grease. Called and inquired; they don't do that anymore. VERY disappointed in customer service!!! Normally satisfied with their work. I should have had a talk with the boss.....

I love my Mazda CX5, but I had the misfortune of meeting an employee who told me his name was "Mazda Joe." He was obnoxious, pushy, and while talking to us, proceeded to take another phone call and leave us standing there. It got to the point where we specifically tried to avoid him because he would insult other salespeople and said he was the only one who knew anything. This is a shame because we love this dealership, have bought many mazdas here. But I refuse to deal with someone so unprofessional. So make sure if you buy a car here, steer clear from this guy.

I wrote in the survey and they never did follow up nor called me back.
I am sorry I am talking my car somewhere else where I get better service for that money.

Went in a little close to closing time not really expecting to walk out in an hour. But let me tell you they were awesome. Shout out to Dakota (the finance manager), Mr.Freddie ( the sales manager), Nick, and even the awesome lady at the reception desk for even pointing us out in the parking lot. Great experience buying a new car at Pearson Mazda. Staff is very helpful and friendly and they answered all my questions. The sale went through very smoothly. My lease was delayed a bit but it was no fault of the dealership and they worked hard to get everything straightened out. My wife's CX-5 is up for trading in, in about a year and we'll be going back to Pearson for her car as well.

Wonderful experience at Pearson! As someone who was very hesitant to even go to a car dealership in the first place for fear of all the pushy salesmen, etc, I was very pleasantly surprised. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly without a bit of the stuffy/pushy feeling you get when you typically think of car dealerships. Everyone from the manager, James, to the salesman, Kevin, to the finance and trade-in guys, was as nice as could be and somehow made me genuinely enjoy being there. They had the exact used car I wanted and the manager even came up with an out of the box solution for me to swap out interiors to get the color cloth I wanted. I would highly recommend this place for your next car purchase!

I have to say Mike Smith is the MAN over at Pearson Mazda and has such class and professionalism. I had some issues with the initial car that I had gotten from them and Mike personally took care of these issues and made sure that they are resolved. Paul was an amazing salesman too and made sure to put me in a ride that I knew I was going to be comfortable with and was reliable. I am now the very happy owner of a 2015 Sonata and I can't thank Pearson Mazda enough for being so accommodating. Thanks Mike and Paul!

Very rare that I would consider giving a car deale...

Very rare that I would consider giving a car dealer 5 stars, but this team deserves it.

My wife likes to drive her car into the ground before getting a new one, and that is where she was. old car about dead, and needed a new 9or new to her) replacement quickly.

We visited 5 or six established dealer and 3 or 4 car lots, and received the typical sales job and pushy treatment.

Not here though. These folks were great, and they had a few cars recently in off leases that that offered to let my wife try 9and even rive home) if she liked. One of those was a 2012 Mazda3 Grand Touring that had low mileage and was in almost perfect condition.

She took the car out for a drive and loved everything about it, then called me to come check it out. Nice car. Fully loaded. About $1K under KBB "Good" condition average pricing yet it looked new and we would classify it as Excellent.

No pressure sales here. Pearson told us to take the car for the day and check it by driving it around, so we took it to our local mechanic (for their $40 used car checkup) and they said it was in outstanding condition as far as they could tell.

Easy decision for us. Even though we returned near closing time, the sales and finance guys had no problem at all hanging around for an hour after closing time to get the paperwork done. We had a pre-approved deal through our credit union, and the Pearson finance guy even called his fiance contacts then made an offer to beat our pre-approved rate.

Not only did Pearson do a complete glossy clean-up job on the car before we came to pick it up, but they also ordered a second set of electronic keys (the lessee only turned in one set of keys...) at no cost to us.

Was an easy, smooth purchase and has been a trouble-free car so far. very please with Pearson Mazda and with this car. Would recommend to others and would return again for another car.

Test drove yesterday. Had conversation with Nick and Freddy (I think) where I was slotted to purchase an E-350 van on the next day(today). I was supposed to send info on trades and then come in to make purchase. Sent info on trades just to get text saying someone else was purchasing. Vultures!

There is an electrical issue that wasn t addressed...

There is an electrical issue that wasn t addressed . The battery apperantly failed and was replaced. The keyfob was returned to me knowing and wasn t properly working When I got the car home I disconnected the battery , cleaned the terminals . Upon reconnecting the neg cable it sparked with a noticeable discharge.
So now I m investigating a parasitic leak. I do not work as a machanic and recognized an issue ... so how did this get passed a qualified trained tech ?
