Absolutely beautiful venue. You could spend hours just walking around the place. The beach side rooms are wonderful, and the staff are polite and helpful. I'd come back without hesitation.
The rooms are nice but the grounds need more up keep. The pool area needs a lot of help. The grounds are really dirty and the pool water doesn t seem kept up. The bathrooms were beyond dirty. We ate at the Barefoot, the service was really slow and the prices were outrageous. We also ate at Tidal, it was a much better experience. The food was good and service was great.
Great place, surrounded by Mission Bay. Some rooms can be a bit musty, but mine was a delight. Beautiful grounds. Great food at the Tidal restuarant on site. Super nice place for a conference, which was why I was there.
As native San Diegans we don't often get to experience the local offerings of the hospitality industry, but given a chance to stay at Paradise Point we figured why not.
The island is a destination in itself, beautiful and well-kept. Dinner at Tidal was delicious and picturesque. Check-in at the Resort was easy, the desk staff, friendly and efficient. There was a small snag when our type of room was not currently available, but the desk simply upgraded us to another available room, which I appreciated and made for an excellent experience.
The room was a Garden Bungalow, a one bedroom suite style living arrangement with king bed, two tvs and an enclosed bedroom separated from the living room space. The living room had a small kitchenette, with mini-fridge, deep sink, a microwave, and a dual cup coffee maker. The bathroom had pretty standard amenities and offerings.
Parking is near each room and the entrance to ours was nestled around the back of the building making it feel like we had a very secluded/private location.
All staff were courteous and helpful, I cannot speak as highly about certain other guests. The adjoining room to ours was apparently having some version of a massive house party, replete with loud music, yelling guests, drinking and smoking.
My one complaint here is that despite multiple requests to the concierge desk, there was no discernible decrease in noise making it difficult to sleep. I finally fell asleep at 2am simply out of exhaustion. We awoke to the patio littered with crushed cans and trash.
Upon checkout I let the desk know about my dissatisfaction with the service in that regard and they were appropriately responsive. In the end I think security was just having a hard time enforcing that night and it's probably not a common problem.
Would return, but would want more responsive security to handle unruly guests. 3/5
Amazing place . Feels like your away from it all while being in the middle of a big city.
Very nice place. Only complaint is the layout of rooms is confusing, so I definitely walked the wrong direction a few times.
This hotel has a perfect location in the bay of San Diego. Each room is part of a separated bungalow for ultimate peace and quiet
The conference experience is phenomenal. The rooms have very thin walls... or at least, it sounds like they're very thin.
Nice place to visit. Right in the middle of the bay. Close to everything around pacific beach, mission bay and beach, and is La Jolla . Rooms were really nice with views of the bay.
Very pretty place right by the bay. Relaxing, great views and really sweet staff! Nice decor, clean bathrooms and sitting out back watching the water under the sun? Couldn't be any better! Very nice place!
Beautiful resort. The grounds are tropical like and our rooms were very comfortable. A great vacation atmosphere in one of the best cities in the world. Location is also good as downtown and most activities are close by
My second visit to this lovely Resort in the last few years.
As we were running a business conference at the resort I was upgraded to a Beach Side Bungalow for stay. The bungalows are a really nice size, with huge beds and a living room and kitchen.
Excellent choice of restaurants onsite, polite, helpful staff and excellent amenities including Jet Ski Hire which I highly recommend.
Well worth staying at if you are ever in San Diego.
Stayed there one evening. They gave us a free upgrade. Didn't have time to experience their amenaties. Over all experience was great and would return.
I stayed at this resort from April 11-14 2018 for a business conference.
Upon entry to the resort, a worker drove us to our room on a golf cart. There was a very significant reason for this. YOU WILL GEY LOST. Definitely. This place is very confusing to navigate at first as there is no rhyme or reason to the layout and it is huge. Speakers were constantly 5-10 min late during the conference because they kept getting lost. The lack of guidance and maps to get around the resort is very difficult to get over at first, but can be looked past overall.
The resort is very beautiful and right in mission bay, in a very beautiful part of San Diego. All of the rooms are brand new and very nice.
They need to fix the issue with opening the door from the outside when the blinds are closed because they are going to eventually tear the blinds off the wall.
The workout facility was very nice and seemed fairly new with well built and easy to use equiptment.
There are 5 pools and 5 hot tubs. We stayed by the main pool, which was very nice and large. The pool is heated and comfortable. The main hot tub is comfortable but the jets dont work, this needs to be fixed. The main pool and workout facility closed at 10pm every night, this is ridiculous and should be pushed to at least midnight. This is a vacation resort.
The conference rooms were very nice and the staff that hosted our conference meals was professional and very quick.
Half of the resort is still under construction which is easy to see when walking through while you are lost for the 10th time.
This place is beautiful I cant wait to come back next year. I hope they have resolved their kinks
This place is first class, great location, awesome views, right on the water.
A real good resort, in the middle of Mission Bay. Surrounded by beaches, just average but quite adaquate. Rooms are spread out in bungalow format -- no stairs. Rentals for ground and water. Two pools. Plenty of restaurants. A general store. Great location near airport, SeaWorld, and ocean activities. Great for couples, families, kids. Rooms have 65" widescreen TVs and good channel selection. Can't plug in HDMI cable for Netflix or streaming service.
Great location in Mission Bay. Service was great, responsive and accomodating to all our requests (switch rooms, microwave, etc). Rooms were nice and clean. One drawback is tile floors throughout room.
We had a company team building event here and had a wonderful time.
Beautiful tropical island setting. The pool area including the poolside grill is a fun family gathering place. The rooms are a bit plain looking but the outdoor vegetation and bayside location with firepits, sand and sitting areas are what makes this paradise point special.
Rooms need update, wall plugs are loose or have broken prongs stuck in them. Shower not working correctly, shower head dangling and clogged. Ac/heaters are old and loud wall units. Trash in firepits and beach. Ponds dirty. Plus side, pretty setting, food good and emplouees great.
Got a room, Bayside, for mother's day. Even in a crowded weekend , we still found our own peaceful spot at the bay and then pool. Room was spacious, clean and comfy!
Just tried several times to speak to someone regarding a new reservation for 3 nights and was unabke to reach the frontdesk. I'll make the reservation via an OTA and you'll lose 22%.
I had an incredible overnight visit with my family. My kids loved it here and are looking forward to coming back!
Conference/Dining are a was very nice an staff were very helpful. Grounds of resort was beautiful.
I think that the location is wonderful, but the food and service at the luncheon was very subpar.
It was clean and the staff was very nice. Water in the tub/shower was never hot. They did a great job hosting or conference.
The walls of the rooms are so thin you can hear everything that goes on in the next room. For me, that meant a baby crying until 3am and every word of the couple's conversations. There were also shady characters smoking weed and playing music with REALLY LOUD bass until early morning. They were slamming car doors and shouting and in general having a party at their cars. That is fine, but it was parked 7 feet from my window, so that meant I couldn't sleep. The hotel is sort of like a motel in that you drive to your room and park right outside. Which is convenient, but also means the parking for your neighbors is right outside your bedroom. Also, the blinds allow light around the edges right next to your pillows. This meant that every car that drove by lit up the room with red tail lights or bright white headlights. This place is very expensive, and the rooms are nicely appointed, but the overall experience is more like that of a motel vs. a hotel. I like the amenities of this hotel, but I don't feel the experience here was worth $300 a night or whatever they normally charge. You would be better off staying somewhere else for the price because the sleeping experience was hell.
Beautiful place with great service! Booked with A 3rd party site and that didn't matter at all. The store, as with all resorts is a bit overpriced but it does have nice things.
Rooms and gorgeous and we love that its a paradise hidden in san diego!
Excellent service and resort. Was greeted warmly and given a tour in a golf cart.
The grounds are beautiful. The rooms comfortable. But this facility needs new management. They made so many mistakes on our reservation and with minor requests. Take some "DISNEY" classes on customer service and you would be considered a 4 or 5 star resort
Great place for a drink or small party overlooking Mission Bay, sophisticated menu.
next time i plan a 2 day stay it's gonna be here after going thru the place and seeing what it's like
Great location to switch off and relax, very well equipped, self contained resort, only gave it 4 stars not 5 due to price. Well stocked shop but priced for a captive audience also additional fee for parking, Wi-fi and access to gym
I love this property. It's vast and green and lush.
Very good hotel. The wifi and the beach could be better.
We have been coming to Paradise Point every year for the last 10 years. This will be our last visit because we have watched it go downhill since our first visit.
This is the only place in the area that you can get a bungalow right on the bay/water, so for that, they get an A+, but it's all the little things that make it not worth the higher prices.
For the last 3 years in a row, our room was not ready at check-in. Two years ago, we had to wait a day before we could get our bay-view room, and were forced to stay one night in a "swamp view" (garden view) room, then move everything when our room was finally ready.
The internet & WiFi are horrible, and barely work. In the room we are in now (where I am writing this review), half or more of the TV channels do not work.
The rooms are a bit run-down. Not horrible, but we expected better for the price.
Be careful of getting nickel-and-dimed to death for things like parking, use of the (crappy) WiFi/Internet, etc.
As of this year, the room-service that had always been a highlight of our visit is gone. No longer are the incredible scrambled egg, sausage & bacon breakfasts.. Instead, you now have a choice of $10 english muffin sandwiches made by the guys at Caveman Pizza, which by the way has the worst pizza anywhere.
SUMMARY:
Still a great choice if all you care about is a decent bungalow on the water. Everything else is no longer worth the higher prices that they continue to charge. If you need internet access for work, go somewhere else.
The rooms are beautiful well appointed bungalows with sweet garden or water views. The property itself is gorgeous. They offer bike rentals, boat rentals and more. Plenty of warm swimming pools and the Spa was fantastic. It makes for a wonderful relaxing vacation.
We had an amazing time at Paradise Point Resort. Our room was clean and had a nice view of the sunset. The best part was that we were able to bring our dog!
What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy San Diego. The bungalows gave a feeling of privacy while being close to everything we needed. Great place to refresh and enjoy California.
Overrated and over priced, grounds are nice, cabbies gouged you with there prices for transportation.
Was there to film a wedding. Staff was very helpful and polite
Nice resort in a great location. Priced accordingly.
I will break this down with pros and cons, because I was conflicted about my stay here.
Positives:
Large rooms
Many pools
Waterfront bar
Pretty property
Gift shop with convenience items for sale
Maids were exceptional; room was cleaned top to bottom every day
Lots of construction happening on property, so potentially will be an upgrade
Staff generally nice
Negatives:
Very crowded with large families and children that dominated every pool and jacuzzi. Tried to go to the adult only jacuzzi, but the heater was broken
Dirty diaper left by the pool; no one nearby cleaning up either
Black mold in our shower
Parking was almost $40 a night, same with resort fee. Parking, at least, was disclosed at check in but the resort fee was not. In all fairness, I booked through Expedia so it could be more of their responsibility to disclose hidden fees better. Regardless it came as a surprise.
$12 an hour to rent a bike - absurd given the resort fees. Just plain absurd
Cool, over priced and over hyped resort in the middle of nowhere full of retired people with attitude.
Shower knob shot out when turning shower off. Keys had to be changed three times , never worked well, clock and bed light impacted by bed being up against wires. Ports on center dresser not working. Toilet paper holder did not be the paper. It would fall off. If this is an upgraded room many flaw designs. Very disappointed for the price. Restaurants nice but menu not varietal enough. However they did accommodate on dinner. Grounds lovely.
Awesome place for vacation nice Beach area and it's only a short distance from all the main attractions we loved it and will be back again San Diego is awesome
Staff wonderful. Higher end rooms so clean and well equipped. Gardens lovely with great birds. Beach meh. Restaurants good, expensive. Store/shop is extensive. Beautiful.
We arrived the same Sunday that were a couple convention were going on so it was very chaotic. Very long line at the reservation and the management had only two individuals on staff. So lots of unhappy visitors. But the resortgood and we enjoyed the water activities. Pool was alot of fun. Food was okay. We likes the out door IQ BBQ place but I think they are open only during the weekends.
It's a very nice place to hang out. I wish I didn't have to work though...
The room had roaches/bugs/spiders. My son got bid on this arm on 3 different places while he was asleep. They did not charge for the room but won't go back !
Wow! I can't say enough about this resort. They are amazing! The staff, the grounds, the room (although I wish there was a screen on the door) all exceeded expectations and made my stay there the best I have ever experienced. The only downside was the "extra" fees associated 32.00 a day for hotel fees and 38.00 a day for parking. I will never be able to afford to stay there again, but for the 4 days I was there, it was MAGICAL. Thank you Sam and your team for making me feel like royalty during my stay.
Cute place to spend a great vacation in San Diego.
Older location but remodeling done recently in a modern look with great activity for kids.
Friendly service
A resort that transcends you to hawaii without the long flight. A must stafy if your looking for a relaxing, quiet but close place to everything in SD
The resor and pools were great, but the rooms need to be renovated.
Nice place to stay. The ground are beautiful. The pools are fun. I d definitely stay there again. Perfect for families
Grounds horribly overgrown. Had to move rooms. Second room had a very bad leaking sink, creating a large puddle all the way to bathtub. Very slippery wet tiles for kids! Did not want to spend time again moving rooms!!
Beautiful grounds, excellent facilities and extremely helpful staff!
Amazing views, newly renovated and looks fantastic. Comfy bed, clean and spacious with his and her sinks. The bungalow is the only way to go. Truly beautiful, right on the sandy shore the bay view is so relaxing. It has swimming pools (5), hot tubs, and tons of nature all around you. Minature golf and other fun activities for kids and adults alike. A few restaurants on site, a little expensive and the food isn't too bad, but we recommend you explore the rest of San Diego for great food and views. If your a seafood lover try the fish market restaurant, downtown San Diego next to Seaport Village. Or for a premier romantic evening enjoy Peohe's restaurant on Coronado island. The only sad part is how expensive parking is for each night $38.
Excellent service in a lovely unique setting. Our beachside bungalow was spacious and comfortably decorated. Plenty of room to relax. A large bathroom with 2 vanities and plenty of towels was a welcome find. Prices at bars and restaurants are comparable to similar class of resort.
Super pretty, just a great location. True resort setting. The only reason not a 5 star is rooms are a little old and 38.00 a night for parking is completely crazy!! And someone who didn't pay was in my spot. They didn't offer anything like a discount on the 80.00 I'm paying to park for two nights. Make sure you budget that in lol
This place is nice in the theory. However, someone stole my phone from my room and the staff weren't helpful at all. Won't be back.
I use to come here as a teenager. My have its changed.
Still a nice place to see and hang out.
Staff is super nice and the rooms are very nice. I give 3 stars because for such a nice place and for the money paid you would think they could clean the beach It is always full of trash and the beach hurts to walk on because they don't ever rake it or clean the bottle caps out of the sand. It's a minimal task with a maximum outcome. The beach should be clean.
We visit a few times a year, the space is nice and staff spot on! Keep up the good work.
It is a beautiful place to relax with your family or to go for a business event.
