The food was amazing, but that wasn't a surprise; the Odd Duck has been on point since the days of the food trailer. The service is also great, the servers will always check to see if there are any dietary restriction or food allergies (thankfully not) so they can help you order accordingly. I don't think I have had a disappointing dish ever. Granted, not all are as awesome as others, but the difference between my favorite and least favorite dishes would have to be measured with an electron microscope. Pro-tip: always save room for dessert. They change it up regularly (as they do with the whole menu) but they always have some amazingly strange ice-cream that sounds completely crazy but is amazingly good (specifically their sweet corn ice-cream, sour cream ice-cream, and sweet potato ice cream) and sorbet (I had the grapefruit sorbet tonight after we worked our way through the whole menu. I was full to the point of physical discomfort amd still wanted seconds of the sorbet.). And again, the staff is amazing; if you don't know what you want, they can help you navigate the menu (which can be a daunting task) and they are always quick. They also operate on the principle that all of the staff are responsible for all of the customers. If our waitress was helping someone else, and I just finished my drink, one of the other staff members would come to offer me a refill. I seriously cannot say enough good things about this place. If you are in Austin and looking for great food, look no further.

Austin has great food. We know this. Odd Duck fit in just fine with this Great location with free valet. It's hard to make an excuse not to go.
Service was super friendly and personable. Food and drinks were great. I ordered a Frogroni - frozen negroni like a slushy - was something I've never even thought about before, and it blew my mind. I was worried about it being too sweet or not bitter enough, and it was just as I had hoped it would be.
Food wise we ordered the ceviche, which wasn't so much a ceviche but more of a curry, and the hamburger. The "ceviche" was incredible. Like nothing I had ever eaten before. Clever use of ingredients to create textures and flavors. The burger was good, but nothing to write home about. I just think it had too much going on. It came out a little sweet and messy, almost like a sloppy joe.
Overall, I would go back again. And I would definitely get another Frogroni and ceviche.

Incredible food and cocktails but the rest of our experience wasn't as great. My husband and I made a reservation 3 weeks in advance and we were sat at the bar.. The restaurant itself is fairly small and quite loud. The ambiance was missing for me personally. Each dish we ordered was incredible but the spacing on when they came out was not. Our order of brisket nachos came out before our sourdough bread and butter which was strange. Then there was about a 30 minute lull in between our nachos and bread and our remaining courses.. Having said all of this for the money spent, we will not be returning anytime soon but we were happy to have experienced one of Austins most acclaimed restaurants.

Unique dining experience to say the least! You get to try a lot of the menu due to the small plate sharing style of the restaurant. The wagyu beef was lacking in flavor which was surprising due to its price, but we very much enjoyed the sourdough, nachos, and carrots. Would possibly return for happy hour when select menu items are 50% off.

Bring a bottle of wine, get there early, plan on having a bit of a wait. Or, get there late, with three bottles of wine, and sit and sip till your food finally arrives (which, btw, will be tasty, albeit not hasty).

This is a genuine gastronomic experience, with lovely people, and lovely prices if you re lucky enough to come during happy hour.
Each dish is uniquely different, inventive, and true to the flavours of the food it is made of.
We were surprised by the pig face jam, red snapper ceviche, and wagyu beef pasta... none of those names do justice to the flavour though.
Not to miss in Austin .
Great drink selection as well!
Will be back guys.

Odd Duck was incredible! During our quick trip to Austin, we chose Odd Duck to be our "more expensive" meal in the midst of all the BBQ and tacos. The glowing reviews certainly set the bar pretty high, but I loved every part of this restaurant! I booked an online reservation a few weeks in advance for the Happy Hour because of the discounted prices on some of the dishes. Odd Duck regularly updates its menus based on what's in season, so some of the dishes we got aren't on the menu anymore. When we arrived, we were seated immediately. Our waitress was super sweet and gave us great suggestions on what to order. Redfish Ceviche was originally. This very fresh redfish was served with cilantro, lime, olive, squash curry, chips. At first, I thought potato chips seemed out of place with a ceviche kinda dish, but it worked! Added such a great crunch factor to a delicious dish. 5 stars! Roasted Sweet Potatoes with currant-onion preserve, capers, pecan, spicy chevre. This was a pretty big portion for the price! Loved how the tanginess of the goat cheese complemented the crunch of the pecans and soft sweet potatoes. Yum, such a great side! 5 stars!

Excellent service. Food was very good, pretzel with chorizo infused mushrooms, and all desserts amazing. The shrimp dish was plenty but shrimp were undercooked and did not smell fresh. Nachos were a hit. The duck egg on the fried rice was a nice touch but over cooked. All in all a good meal.

One of the best dining experiences I've had in Austin recently - Odd Duck's happy hour provides the opportunity to eat delicious small plates at an affordable price. If you're the type of person that loves sharing food so you can experience as many flavors as possible, this is a happy hour you can't miss. The ambiance on the patio is charming and relaxed, perfect for friends, family or a date.

Interesting ideas I suppose but trying too hard I think. Most of the presentations were unattractive.
The phrase odd duck is usually not a kind thing to say of someone and therefore the restaurant is most fittingly named.
The pork loin was very tasty. We tried about half the menu and I cannot think of anything that would make me want to go back.
Our server was good but another server came by and inserted himself into our conversation, took something we said out of context, and decided to teach us a lesson on how good they are in a hostile tone. We almost left right then.
This place has big aspirations but came off to me as shockingly pretentious. It reminds me of a farm to table version of one of the restaurants in the old Steve Martin movie LA Story.

Amazing little brunch spot! Food was served in small portions so they recommended ordering 4-6 plates for our group of 4. Our favorite was the duck breast and pancake. I love that they utilize unconventional combinations of ingredients to make something so unique and delicious. We ate at Barley Swine (their sister restaurant) the night before and you can get 10% off your order at Odd Duck with the receipt!

Super overpriced and super small portions. I was here with a large group of 10 and they forced a prefixed menu with about 7 meal courses and 2 deserts. $55 per person is fine if you get enough food. They brought 3 small plates of each coarse for the table to share. This equated to 1 bite per person per coarse. I was OK with small starter plates as we built up to the main coarse but the 1 bite policy was for every single plate:-(
It also took 2 and 1/2 hours to get the final desert. 4 of us had a follow-up meal (after leaving the Odd Duck) across the street at shake Shack. I will never go back!

Set off on a culinary adventure and explore varying flavors in this upscale tapas bar. If given the option, I'd suggest sitting next to the open kitchen in the middle of the restaurant. You get to see the talented chefs craft and comprise every dish that will almost definitely help you decide what to order or intrigue your curiosity to add another dish before you call it a night. Their menu is ever changing so there's always a reason to come back.

Absolutely love this place for dinner, happy hour, brunch. Basically if you re around and they are open do to there. The Parker House roles are my favorite when they are on the menu. Food this fresh and imaginative paired with friendly and helpful staff can t be missed. Great for groups as well. We did a set menu dinner for a friends bachelorette and they made a vegetarian menu that pleased all palettes and graciously accommodated additional dietary restrictions. I think it should be considered an Austin staple and well worth a visit but any local or visitor who claims to love food.

I'm glad to have a chance to visit this restaurant during our weekend road trip to Austin. It was almost packed around 6:30pm and we got a great seat at the bar facing the kitchen area.
We ordered a few selection to share including a mix of salad, fish and meat. All ingredient was sourced daily from the local farmers so the menu changes according season and availability. We enjoyed every bit of it. Don't forget their famous cocktail especially the Paloma. Yum!

Where do I even start with this review, but had to...
Where do I even start with this review, but had to share this experience to inform others of what they might go through. On the web and social media everything seemed great, 5 stars, amazing food and farm to table and all those slogans about the Odd Duck made us save our first time for a special occasion. We hosted 2 of our long time friends during the past weekend and we thought it will be an amazing idea to reserve this place for us so they could experience the real good Austin vibe with great food and feel of the city since it was their first time in Austin and TX as well. It started with the fact that we have been put outdoors (as we requested) but BE AWARE - YOU WILL BE SITTING NEXT TO THE MOST NOISY CROWDEST BUSIEST STREET EVER! Good luck hearing any of your guests and friends with cars roaring with craY engines, motorcycles doing crazy 2 1 wheel drives and in general to be honest its better to go eat with the Valet than the actual outdoor sitting, since its quiter and normal there. The answer I got from the hostest is "unfortunately we cannot move you" which is a great answer and honest. We tried to ask the waitress as well and after mentioning that we also asked the hostesses, I got a childish stupid rudeat reply of "are you doublt stabbing me"? By going to 2 people asking the same question? Wow great customer service even before we got any drinks even.
Next - while seeing half of the place with empty tables still (after 20 minutes), we finally got the attention of our server which seemed like she is somewhere else with her mind...walks next to us after 30 minutes without any food order and wonders between the other tables....not sure if the Odd Duck picks who to serve first and who to push or make them walk away based on TBD!?
Finally the server stopped by and I mentioned that its been very long, we are half "deaf" because of this enromous car noise next to us and that this is misleading that it does not say anywhere that "YOU WILL BE SITTING NEXT TO A VERY BUSY CROWDED NOISY ROAD". the answer I got (wait for this):
"WE WROTE ONLINE THAT OUR OUTDOOR SITTING IS IN THE OPEN AIR AND THIS IS OPEN AIR. ALSO, YPU SHOULD KNOW THE CITY AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS AROUND OUR RESTAURANT".
I have no clue how to respond without blowing up at that point so I said "we all have different definitions of OPEN AIR, and also I am not from the city so are you saying I should do "Google street" or drive around a few days before to get to know the area in order to come eat at your place?"
She responded with the most sarcastic slow "SURE".
After that some hostesses stopped by to check the issue, dismissed me and my guests and they all started acting super rude to us. We decided to get the check and leave.
The only 5 stars I will give to this place is to the Valet lady, who is also working so hard and running but so polite, nice and respectful. Maybe some folks in the actual restaurant inside should learn from the Valet what is customer service and how to respond to customers without blowing up.
Bottom line - will never go here again, got my guests thinking twice about Austin people and the vibe from this place (they said it reminded them service in fast food chains drive throughs honestly), got my night ruined with all the plans we had after dinner to show them more places, instead had to drove to Domain to find some place to eat dinner at 11 PM (after 3 hours since Odd Duck reservation) and for the first time in Austin, we encountered a place that takes pride in its business with the worst experience ever in all of the Austin metro area. Odd Duck staff, I hate generalizing and there are people that go through stuff but you attack customers with aggressiveness, rudeness and disrespect, which no 5 stars review in the world can cover for that when a customer walks away in such disappointment. I hope you take this as a lesson learned and improve for the goodness of all food businesses in our great area

Seriously some of the best food I have had in a while. When you first walk in, you appreciate the smell of the wood burning fire from their grill. Next, the ambiance of the atmosphere fits perfectly with what they are putting in front of you, class and simplicity. The farm to table ingredients and delectable bite after bite will bring me back for more. We started with the home made chocolate croissant's... First of all wow. My wife's first words were this tastes just like the ones in France I had in 2008. That's right they reminded her from something she ate over 10 years ago. We then split the omelette and chicken skillet and the only thing we could say was a perfect match. Then you can't end a good brunch without doughnuts. That's right doughnuts. Better yet.. carrot cake doughnuts with carrot creme and a maple glaze. I don't know about you but that sounds like perfection to me, and it was. Just come eat here.

Farm-fresh food that is both innovative and delicious. The atmosphere is rustic and laid back, and the servers are helpful and friendly. This restaurant has mainly small plates, so the best way to do it is to go with a group and share multiple items. My favorite dish was the heirloom tomato salad (it was so fresh and yummy). Other members of my group were partial to the foie gras mousse and the tator tots with smoked chicken, green chile, and cheddar. All the food was amazing (except the pretzel with ham, it wasn't particularly special).

There are not enough words to describe how amazing Odd Duck is. The food is eclectic and bursting with flavor. We tried the goat chili, which under normal circumstances I would never go for, but it was the most delicious dish of the night and so savory! I can't highly recommend this place enough. Definitely try for happy hour if you can make it, a lot of the tapas are half price!

I have not even had an "average" experience at Odd Duck. It has always been a "great" or "spectacular" experience.
