Even though this is a rather old hotel it was clean well-stocked anytime I looked like I needed something somebody was there to assist me they went above and beyond. I've been to this Plaza several times over the last 10 years and it just gets better

Our first day arriving it started raining. My family and I decided to have lunch on the patio area and order from the bar because the restaurant was not open for lunch hours. The only sit down meal available during lunch hours was outside and it was raining so naturally the other guests were under the covers eating area with tables. To my surprise there were only ly a hand full of tables provided. With all the tables filled and nowhere for my family and I to sit and have lunch we looked for other options. My family included 3 adults and 3 children. We went back inside and found a nice sized table at, what I would call, the night bar area located in the lobby in front of a very large section of windows (very beautiful
btw) looking out over the beach. The area was closed because from what I would guess it would open later in the evening for more of a evening type of service along side of your dinner in the on-site restaurant. However with the limited seating and rain coming down and lack of any other suitable seating we sat down to enjoy our lunch. My wife went to the guest services to double check with our decision. To my surprise she returned to inform us that she was told we were not allowed to utilize the area because it was not open by two different staff members at the guest service area and needed to move. I was shocked. We had just purchased food for our family, at a very steep price of $97 + gratuity and tip, and our options for a table to enjoy pricy first lunch together on arrival day was either at a table in the poring rain by the pool area, in the room (we had 6 people and a table for two in the room hints the decision to eat elsware in the first place) or standing/ sitting around in the common areas of the hotel. I instructed my family to stay seated and use the area anyway and if there was a problem I would take care of it. I refused to relocate to any of the other unreasonable options. My family and I worked hard to provide for this vacation and had come all the way from Georgia and were not going to sit on the floor or out in the rain to have lunch. This is a kind of service you would expect from a $40 a night hotel and is exactly why we opted to work hard and give our family the nicer things. We paid more than $40 in fees and definitely should not have recieved that level of hospitality. My family and I sat and ate our meal and I could tell that majority were uneasy about staying in the area to eat because we all knew we were unwelcome there. Not a pleasant feeling or experience as soon as you arrive or at anytime during your stay at all.

We stayed at this hotel at the turn of the year 2017/18. Unfortunately, there was a lot of construction work going on in and around the hotel (understandable after the 2017 hurricane and announced in a letter from the management) - but also with regard to this, the rooms are overall very old, and some of them seem poorly repaired. We had to ask for a new room twice - the first had an unbearable smell of mold, in the second the air conditioning did not work properly.
The service was impeccable, we got a new room very quickly, and we were also given first-class service with luggage and cars.
The location and the sea view are very good, but the house feels "old" and not well maintained. The service, on the other hand, was excellent.

The hotel room was okay. The rooms need a renovation and the cleanliness could be improved. Parking in the garage is a tragedy. If you do not park before 10:00 pm there will most likely be no parking spots, because of this we ended up walking everywhere instead of taking the car.

Room is good. Service is extremely awful waited over an hour at the check in and had to called them to let them know I was there. Also, they are under construction and noises start as early as 7am.

I am currently staying at this resort if that's what you want to call it. The staff has been gracious, Bless them for what they have to work in.. As I sit here at 5:30 am the wet dry wall is falling of the ceiling. The whole hotel smells musty. The rooms have damp carpets and bedding. They are severely understaffed.
They show signs of cleaning it up but it is bad. Who ever owns it needs to pay the staff that chose to show up for work. And close this place down and do it right.

My husband was excited to surprise me with a much needed weekend getaway. The website photos and reduced nightly rate on this particular weekend just added to the appeal when making his choice. However, although they are undergoing a reconstruction period there were things that were surprisingly unpleasant. Our room was spacious, but not particularly comfy. The bathroom had no countertop space and the walls must be paper thin. We had restless nights sleep due to, noise coming from adjoining rooms, loud conversations, laughing and noises in hallway and vehicles from the street side, (and we were on the 7th floor).
The restaurant prices are a bit steep for the average food. My husband s steak was not as ordered, after he has started eating it, the waitress said they could put it back on the grill? I had the nacho appetizer and the cheese was the nacho style canned cheese poured all over it? The cheese brands you get from sports concession stands. Nevertheless, true to nature my sweet husband gave a sizable tip. Lol.
The plus was the curbside service was polite and prompt.
Bottom line, we have had much better Daytona Beach experiences at other places.
Disappointed.

The hotel was nice. Good location. Management staff didn't seem to really care that a family reunion was having a fish fry on the 4th floor. Whole building stunk thanks to these inconsiderate people. Staff did nothing to stop it. Kids were also jamming the elevators, making them stop on every floor. Pretty disgusting waking up to the smell of fish.

We try to visit once a year. The rooms are always clean, as is the hotel. The construction however, was a bit off putting, as the rates were normal. There was only one working elevator and getting around was a little tough with not much help navigating around.

Pros and cons. I enjoy this hotel as it's in a great location and easy to find. The place is very nice on the inside and out. On the other hand this hotel is always doing construction that is extremely loud and hard to get your children to nap during. They put me right next to their workers officer so I could hear everyone all night and morning. The front desk isnt very well informed of whatever goes on with the rest of the staff. Most of the housekeepers dont understand English and are told to tell you to call the front desk but the front desk has no idea why they would tell you to call them so it's a big lack in communication with the staff. They also do not change your sheets as well as the shower has very bad water pressure. The balcony had water leaking from the air conditioners so it was soaking wet as well as you could barely see over it to look at the ocean. You would think being a guest you would get better discounts with the spa but you get nothing.

Hotel ok but rooms too pricey. $232 per night plus all the resort extras my total was close to $600 for two nights. Hotel probably two stars. We had to switch rooms because mattres on pull out bed had wires sticking out.

I like where the hotel was placed, right on the beach, near all the food places and the night clubs. The hotel rooms where a excellent size with a king bed, pull out couch, clean towels and linens. The bar down by the pool has excellent sex on the beach drink, the frozen pina colada was to die for, the chicken wings where the bomb and the chicken finger basket with french fries was good too. The down sides are the elevators all of them was slow as hell and I couldn't get any phone service in the hotel I had to go outside of the hotel to use my cellphone.

This is a beautiful hotel right on Daytona beach. We went here for an event. We didn't stay in any rooms, but the conference portion of the hotel was really nice. We are at the 1888 restaurant for lunch and the food was decent. The staff all seemed very friendly and helpful when needed.

Rooms and hotel as a whole were a little dated but for the price I paid I wasn't expecting brand new. All of the staff were very nice and welcoming. The lounge had some very interesting characters which made it enjoyable. I had a massage in the spa and was very satisfied and had a great conversation with my masseuse. Had a satisfying stay.

We have stayed there over ten years ago and it was good then too. This is one of the oldest resorts on Daytona Beach, so it is convenient to almost everything. They have upgraded much of the resort, but kept the old time feel. We will try and meet there next year.

When it's on sale the price to be beachfront is phenomenal. However, if you're sensitive to musty odors, renovations, leaky infrastructure... you might be in the market to upgrade to another property.

Needs some updating inside. It's clean and the staff is friendly, but also has a hallway smell of 80+ year old women socializing. Not necessarily bad...just there.
Great morning views, especially if you like construction (being serious).

Great location. Great pool. Great massage at the spa. Pool bar and snack bar is awesome. My negatives are lobby restaurant not open. Lobby snack shop was closed due to no staffing. And there is no Jacuzzi on the pool deck for guests to use.

BEAUTIFUL VIEWS! The views were so nice I lowered my guard. Then, fortunately for me, I saw it, hair in what was supposed to be a clean washcloth. That set off my alarms so I went looking and what do I find, a stain in the mattress cover. Yay...

My husband & I wanted to spend a relaxing 1st wedd...

My husband & I wanted to spend a relaxing 1st wedding anniversary this past weekend back at the same hotel we shared our first getaway (in August 2015). it was nothing like our 1st stay. Cora was given 2 forms of proof of ID plus my confirmation email on my phone with my name, room reservation info, etc. She kept insisting I made reservations with a 3rd party which I did not, I booked thru the resort directly by phone. She sent us to a room that upon entrance we knew was not what we had reserved so we had to carry our luggage all the way back down to the lobby where then the lady tried telling me I told her the wrong name. She then got us in the correct room but charged me for that room also, stating the other charge would fall off the next day. I told her she was making me very nervous. The next day the charge was still standing & it overdrafted my bank account. We went back downstairs & after several excuses from Cora I asked for the manager. Kevin said he would help & eventually he did get the charge reversed but instead of him calling me & my husband with any updates we had to call to find out anything. We spent nearly all morning & afternoon just getting this mess straightened up. No compensation for our time wasted on the problems we had to deal with. That was no way to spend our 1st anniversary. Kevin gave us his card to call & make reservations with him directly the next time. I will never spend $ there again. We were so looking forward to that weekend but instead it was just awful & upsetting.

Stayed here 2 nights and it was just ok. I give 1 star for location, and another star because the waitress who served me breakfast at 1888 was very good.
Here is an explanation as to why stars were deducted from the review:

-1 Star:
I think it s off putting that every food and or beverage transaction has an automatic 18% gratuity added on. I understand automatic gratuity in some situations; but to be added onto everything is ridiculous. It s not even the money that bothers me, but it s the fact that your wait staff/bar tenders are rude as can be because they know the customer is tipping them 18% no matter what.

-1 Star:
When we pulled up to check in, we noticed several employees just standing around, not a single person made any attempt to help us unload our bags, or even greet us.

-1 Star:
The elevator situation here is horrendous. You would think with 3 elevators things wouldn t take long. On the last day of our visit the elevator was taking forever so I began timing, it took 7 minuets for the elevator to arrive; and that s just when I started timing so in reality it was even longer.

I'm editing this review to one star... Thanks for ...

I'm editing this review to one star... Thanks for staff acknowledging Manager Rodriguez and my dealings with him. Stay was good. Room I have to agree with others.. Had major sinus issue a day in .... Problem was charges when checked out which totalled near 3x what I should of been charged....Didnt honor agreed rate, stay 3 nights get 1 free... Charged double resort fees on one of the nights... 4 invoices i still haven't seen, but was billed to credit card. Even called to have 'all' charges sent over... They did.....next morning another invoice comes and its for a hotel in Ft Myers (Pink Shell Marina Resort)... Called was told too busy to deal with issue....Same person calls back 8 hours later and after a min states I need to call tomorrow to speak to a manager. I politely asked he leave with the manager and explain the situation. Noon or so the next day Manager calls and states has to investigate... One would think you would do this first.... Had to close credit card being 4 charges were not sent to me....Thankfully checked credit card transactions!!! No call or email to date to address the erroneous billing.... And my opinion.... But one error... Happens....more than 4? I call that intentional. My opinion...
Either way.... I'll be sticking with the Hilton. Had exceptional service there... Very clean .. A few more dollars... But no surprise billing.... So technically if I just trusted the invoice emailed to me... Would of got away with near triple actual charges! Tome... That is outrageous and theft....And not a return call to resolve....to me that proves you knew what was being done or you'd be on that phone.... Question is....how many other guests had the same done to them? Check your credit card transactions for the entire month!!!!!

I would never recommend this hotel to any one for $320 and two nights we got a Rusty refrigerator and did not cool at all, bathroom mirror frame broken, window knock down moldy and all over the floor and airconditioning unit, carpet smell and damped, rusty door frames, water pressure and temperature inconsistency and they did not offer any discount rate of relocation, the cleaning staff were heard arguing in the mornings in the hallways. I am glad I took pictures and video.

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone

This is one of the old elegant hotels in Dayton Beach which has been nicely renovated. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Besides large well appointed rooms there is a restaurant, SPA, gift shop, conference rooms, a big pool, and an excellent fitness room.

Would highly recommend The Plaza Resort & Spa!
We originally booked with a different hotel, upon arrival the room was very dirty so we canceled and made a last minute reservation at The Plaza Resort & Spa! Best decision ever! Room was clean with easy access to the beach. The parking garage could be a little taller (lifted trucks barely fit) but other than that it was a great place to stay.

The hotel was nice. I'm not sure I would qualify it at 4 stars, but the ocean view room with balcony had some great views. Lots of construction noise from next door... Not their fault but it did contribute to a lack of peacefulness. Obviously under construction, lots of finishing touches missing, room was clean for sure, awkward furniture placement.

Glad I only paid a hundred bucks for the one night or if be really pretty upset.

Nice room for the price. Front Desk staff nice, everyone else just doing their job. Lobby bar staff not attentive. There was one other couple at the bar and we sat for 10 minutes waiting for someone to take our order. Someone only walked over when they saw us getting up. Pool deck nice, pool bar staff seemed rushed. Towel attendant was friendly. Location on the beach and short walk to ocean view was nice.

Great lobby, great views. Average pool, food, and misc offerings. Convention space well sized.
Room lacks in amenities. WiFi, as far as I can tell, doesn't really work. No ethernet Jacks in room. TV doesn't work, can't change input to substitute own device. Useless telephone takes up night stand room, limited outlet space, shower head was broken and short, cramped bathroom. Management seems draconian in their policies (no outside food and drink? Ummmmm, no thanks.) However, does offer cutlery, bowls, full microwave, and the best mini-fridge I've seen in room.

I had a very nice lady named CORA who checked me in. There were a few problems in my room , and she made sure the problems were fixed and she was so sweet, she had given me a $25 voucher to use at the resort. She made my stay very pleasant. All the staff that i spoke with were all helpful and sweet. I will definitely be back again. The room was nice, i had ocean view and the hotel is beautiful. They have been keeping up with it. I hope i will be back soon...
5 star for sure...thanks again Cora for a very nice experience and a pleasant stay.

We had a great time at this place! Pros~I did an online reservation and requested an upper floor, was given a nicer room than picked and on the highest floor. Also a 2 person jacuzzi tub off master bedroom which was a pleasant surprise.Very clean and updated decor. Plenty of fun things to do on/off site. Cons~only one parking spot per room (no matter how large the room or qty of guests), SUPER LONG check-in process with no regard for anybody's time, no late check outs allowed (even offered to pay extra), Was forced to listen to long sales pitch on timeshare sales before "concierge" would give us wrist bands/keys etc. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Definitely will return and maybe by that time they will find a more effective way to smooth out some of the cons.

We were asked to pay parking fee, which was not mentioned during reservation on the web site. We double checked this.
Waiting for elevator was infinite. And when it is here - it is full.
We were not allowed to eat outside food (pizza) near fire pits.
There also should be Ping-Pong, but personal was surprised about it. Paddleboards, surfboards or body boards were not available as well, although it was advertised on the web site.
