Good location. Valet was friendly and very efficient. Attended a dinner event. Bar service was good and drink prices were reasonable. $6 for well drinks. Server staff service was spotty. Dinner was chicken on a bed of mashed potatoes. Unusual choice and just okay quality. Cheesecake was good.

Allowed early check in. Registration was prompt and informative and very friendly. Cora, who worked checking us in was the best! Not only during check in, but throughout our stay. They are lucky to have her. Very clean and big rooms with fantastic views. Large pool and easy access to the beach. Will stay again and again .

This is right in the middle of everything. The pool area is super nice and a huge pool. The rooms were nice, we had a great ocean view. For a beach hotel you can do a lot worse, but not much better for the price.

I really like this place. This was a our second time visiting this hotel and we were very happy with the spa. It was very nice and very big. We were surprised to have such a large spa in the hotel. I also like the location on the beach. Everything was a short walk - to the pier and movies. The staff worked very hard to keep us happy. Probably best deal on the beach.

I rarely give one star reviews, but as you read you will see the reason for my review. I am hopeful that one day I will be able to upgrade this review.
I was there for a conference for a week and was very disappointed. The property had damage from Hurricane Irma, but still had unrepaired damage from last year's Hurricane Matthew.
There was lots of mold and mildew within the resort, we had to move to a different conference room, and several of our conference attendees were sent home due to exposure to mold and mildew. The week we were there, there was rain forecast, however, water was pouring through at the main bar and water was dripping down all over the resort. I personally stayed on the 12th floor with one floor between my room and the roof, and had water coming in through my bathroom vent. In several places they had ripped up carpets that had become soaked, and in our conference rooms many had wet floors. There were places in the resort where plaster/drywall was coming down.
As for the food and drink services, the food was very good, not only for the conference provided meals but also at their small restaurant. Unfortunately, the staff could not seem to keep up with simple things like coffee, hot water and other items, things that should never run out when you're in a conference and on a limited time. In many cases there were wait staff that were standing nearby and could easily see these items were out but did nothing until the attendees began to complain. This was really a shame because the food itself was delicious. The bar staff did their best but were obviously not very upbeat as they were working around all the leaks. I am actually surprised they kept the bar open, I cannot see how management did not consider the water coming in over the bar ceiling an electrical safety hazard.
In all, the property is very historic it has a wonderful backstory to it and really looks to be a grand place. Unfortunately, the grandness of this property is overshadowed by so many deficiencies that need to be repaired. I loved my time there but dealing with the mold and mildew and the wet floors and everything put together left for a bad visit. My time there has left me sick due to the mold and mildew and I am currently fighting a sinus infection. I would have loved to enjoy the property and said better things about it and perhaps one day I can afford to return and give a better review and have the opportunity to see they have corrected the many numerous deficiencies on the property. Again it is a lovely old property but needs many repairs. I wish them the best, but I do urge patrons to give careful consideration to their stay.

I am not a happy camper!! This is one of the worst hotels I have ever been to in my entire life. We drove 14 hrs only to find out the hotel we booked was an actual poohole. Be warned! They have a resort fee which was NOT disclosed at booking. When asked what this covered? WiFi and a newspaper. Really? 25 bucks for WiFi and a newspaper.

10:50pm: call to the front desk, May I have three extra pillows for health reasons.
11:10pm: lady knocks on my door bringing one pillow and told me I only get one and she didn t know what to tell me because she was clocking out.

At 1125pm, My little daughter went to brush her teeth and the entire plumbing from under the sink began flooding the bathroom. Imagine a flood at 11:30 in the middle of the night.

11:40pm man knocks on my door and informs me he will have to replace pipes. Replace pipes. Did I mention it s 11:40PM?!

12:10 we move to a new room. First floor. No waiving of resort fee for my inconvenience and trouble.

Really? Really?!

Found a great deal online and really enjoyed the facilities. Didnt know I didnt have a balcony or view until after I arrived, but the large pool deck and firepit def made up for it. Great place to stay.

I spent my vacation here, and everything about the Plaza appeared to be good. The rooms were nice, the view was incredible, and it was amazing to be so close to the beach. All seemed to go well, until I arrived home from my vacation, and realized that the 'nice' valet had stolen VERY expensive things from my car. I only just caught the name of the valet(very happy that I did) and remember the name being 'Jon'. After hiring someone to look into this, we found their full name, and are now seeking legal action. I would not recommend the valet service to anyone; and if you do use it, it might be best to take valuables with you. Sad that even in this day-and-age we still have to deal with petty thieves.

The plaza reort and spa had mostly friendly staff. The resort was a little outdated and was under renovation. They had a cocktail hour from 5 to 6 to compensate for the construction. This was a nice touch. I was waiting in line before 6 but the bartender gave me some major attitude about ordering my final free round. I understand they have to have a cutoff time but this could have been explained more courteously by the bartender. I stayed in an ocean front suite. My first room (303) had an majorly obstructed view. There was also a crusty chicken wing on the filthy roof of the obstruction sticking out from the third floor. They moved me to room 503. I would have given 5 stars if I was either better notified the original room was obstructed or not put in there to begin with. Hotel has great layout and good potential. I'm thinking it could be 5 stars once the construction is done and everything is updated.

If I could give negative stars I would.....We went down to watch 2 of my best friends tie the knot and this was the place chosen by them. We stayed here for a little over a week and had a horrible experience!! One of the maids was on speaker phone with her boyfriend and they were discussing very provocative activities they would do when she got home.... if you get my drift. My 9 year old was standing there with me and heard every word!!

The toilet didn't work, the AC/Heat unit didn't work either. It was pretty chilly the first couple days and I ended up sick for the remainder of our trip and the wedding! Never once were we offered to switch rooms even when I spoke with 2 of the managers. They stated they would follow up with me and gave me their card. Which didn't happen until we coincidentally ran into each other the morning of checkout 4 days later. So 4 more days without a working toilet....

Due to all the construction they are doing (understandable as the hurricane that came through) We couldn't use our balcony M-F 8-5 even though I paid extra for an ocean view. They started working and drilling right above our heads at 7 am and the construction crew outside my window started at 6 am. When we checked out they ended up charging me for again for the resort fees and taxes. I paid the resort fee of 22 per night plus tax in cash when I checked in, plus had to pay it again as it was charged to my room and not refunded to me. A manager (the one that gave me her card) was standing there for this and did nothing, yet again. I was so sick and tired of complaining and wanted nothing more than to go home at this point. All I asked for was a different room that had working amenities, but that was too much to ask for. I will never recommend this place to anyone!!!

It was amazing. The 1888 resturaunt had amazing food, everyone was so nice, the room I got was amazing, it wasn't an amazing 12 story floor, but instead it was an amazing 1st story floor thst, when going onto the "balcony", lead right out to the pool and outdoor food bar. The hotel had amazing prices, and its extremely close to the boardwalk. All in all, it made my vacation in Florida wonderful, and will be happy to stay there again

This place was a joke. I have only stayed at 100 hotels in my life but this hotel, hands down was the worst. I booked through Priceline and paid 2 months in advance. I guess it wasn t enough at check in, I got hit with another $25 charge. 2nd, we got there at 11am. ( we were early) they said Check In was at 4pm but they would put a rush on our room. At 4.30 the room still wasn t ready. Was told, check in started at 4 but that a room could be held. Meaning, it only has to be released at 11:59 pm. Finally got room past 5 pm. Then I guess a guest had to be evicted at 12am. However having hotel personnel screaming at her for an hr was just ridiculous. Figured with all the trouble we could have a few hrs extra in the room but got told no. Guests beware. For 200 a night, I would have expected more. Never again

2 Star Hotel: 3-4 Star Pool Area. I have to say that my stay has probably not been a typical stay in that my room has non stop construction outside of it making it very non peaceful and that construction won't be going on forever. I also had a room that was not clean when I arrived, with hairs in the sink and tub, so that has caused a bit of a more negative review. The positives are the pool area, and the spaciousness of the rooms. The hotel is a bit dirty. The rooms could use serious upkeep (paint peeling off bathroom door, rust on picture frames etc). There isn't much of a hotel gym. The spa is decent at best. This is NOT A RESORT. If you have that expectation, you'll be disappointed. But, if you get a good price and just want a decent hotel (think red roof in type rooms) with a great pool area on the beach, then you'll be happy. Some other positives are wifi is good and the staff is very friendly and they do really try to give it a resort feel, from the front desk staff to the guys sweeping the floors.

This guy's got it made it was a wonderful place ladies and gentlemen the Plaza Resort and Spa is the only place to go to stay in Daytona Beach one of the reasons why I say this is the walking distance to not only the Bandshell but the Boardwalk amusement facilities end the main Pier.

We made this reservation online a couple of months in advance. Traveled 4 hours to get to Daytona and arrived at the Plaza Hotel to find out that we could not check into our room because we were under 21. Both of us had ID and credit card with reservation names. Reservation was paid in full, yet hotel "terms" were no money refunded. We were offered our money back immediately, but they would not let us check in the hotel. They broke the rules for their own convenience not ours!!! At 10:00 pm on a Friday night the desk clerk told us to go elsewhere to find a room.

Read other reviews carefully, Book room at other facilities in Daytona Beach, maybe this one will go under new management.

Completely disappointed. Will not recommend and will not be staying again.

We booked a room at the Plaza for Father's day weekend and besides the pleasant nature of the staff, we were extremely disappointed with the entire stay. Upon arriving, we waited over 30 minutes to just check into the room. We tried to be understanding with the COVID guidelines in place, but after waiting and listening, there was no reason for the check in to take so long with only two couples checking in ahead of us and two check in lanes. Once we arrived at the counter, it took maybe 5-6 minutes to get us checked in and on our way??

We paid extra for an ocean view room and were given a room with a view of the parking lot. But, because you could lean around the balcony and sea the ocean, it was considered ocean view? Not worth the extra cost.

We were given 2 full sized towels for 4 people for 2 days...

We visited the 1888 hotel restaurant for breakfast on Fathers day morning for the convenience, which ended up being a terrible decision. The service was not only incredibly slow, but the order was completely wrong and the food was cold by the time it was brought out. Our waitress was extremely pleasant, but the service was unacceptable. We were seated before 3 other families...who ALL received their food and drinks before our table of 4. It appeared our waitress took a break for a extended period of time immediately after she took our order. We could actually see our food sitting in the window for over 10 minutes before she reappeared. It then took another 10 minutes to get the check and ANOTHER 10 minutes for her to return with the paid bill. The entire experience was an hour and 45 minutes...

The saving grace for our vacation was that pool and pool staff were great! Very friendly, great service and the food at the pool was incredible! Gotta hand it to the staff. They were running all over the pool deck with food and drink orders WITH masks on, and they were still extremely kind and on point. Definitely made the day by the water a lot easier. However, this resort needs a bigger pool for such a large hotel. Every single seat was taken and the pool was crowded to the point where it was hard to swim. We had to leave our items in the grass since all the chairs on the lower and upper deck were full.

Great property, but some staff and customer service let's it down a bit. Still, I'd recommend the hotel. Free WiFi and evening manager's reception with Complimentary soft drinks, wine, beer, and light snacks. On site spa. Located right on the beach with nice well appointed rooms.

Overall, had a very pleasant stay. Staff was most accommodating and friendly. We stayed in an ocean front king studio, corner suite. Room was clean and well adorned. Kichenette is updated with modern appliances, clean look and well equiped. Bed was comfortable, soft mattress. House keeping was prompt and thorough. Spa experience was wonderful: ambiance, facility condition and amenities were perfect and relaxing; staff was professional and sweet. The hotel was built early 1900s and has some beautiful elegant features of the era I much appreciate, yet it needs refurbishment to restore it to its once grand status. Exterior building, in particuliar, steps/entrance from parking garage and room balconies need immediate restoration attention.

Daily cleaning of rooms not good was there 5 nights they only made up beds once . Each day they would just hang towels n soaps, I think they need new house keepers. We never hung do not disturb sign out. Managent was told still no clear answer n no remedy. Pool is nice ,clean n plenty of help for things around pool. Parking also was an issue, handicap parking very limited, although they did allow us to park in valet since there was never any handicap spaces available, we just had to park our self in Valet to not be charged an additional $7 a night after paying $10. For each night we stayed. Over all I would stay again if they address housekeeping issues. We took out our own trash, since they only came into room 1 time.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay. The hotel is family friendly with many fun activities. There are plenty of ways for adults to enjoy themselves, as well. There are 2 bars, an upscale restaurant, and a short walk to the boardwalk. The hotel was built in the early 20th century which accounts for the gorgeous architecture and ambiance. Our room room was comfortable and with a balcony that overlooks the ocean. There were a few rowdy characters, but that could be anywhere.
