Absolutely amazing plenty of stuff to do and the valley view villas are awesome will definitely be going back
First of all, the good bits - I loved how the retreat was so close to the park entrance - it was awesome to be able to just walk out of the retreat straight into the tracks.
It is worth being aware that if you are after a relaxing "retreat" experience, it is difficult to have this due to the busyness of the place, particularly during school holidays it's packed with families which means it's great for people who want a holiday with the kids but not great for adults wanting peace and quiet.
The price of the room (mountain view studio) was not particularly reasonable without inclusion of a meal - it was a very basic room - the provision of a simple breakfast pack would have meant (a) having breakfast at a time of one's choice, particularly if going on an early walk and (b) not having to deal with the chaos of the dining room packed with people. In Queensland it gets light very early in the spring and summer, and I would imagine lots of people would have a preference of getting up and about and into the bush by 7am, rather than wait until 7am just for breakfast. At night, the staff seemed to struggle with the busyness of the restaurant, too - and the one dinner option (3 courses in the restaurant) was really way too much food - a two course option would be much better for people with smaller appetites!
So yes, a great experience due to the proximity to the park entrance and tracks, but the retreat experience was not great, and seemed quite overpriced.
Great facilities. Pool was freezing though. Needs to be heated. And restaurant options were very limited.
Went and got to feed the birds, hike their canopy bridge, and just a lovely time.
Always a great place to visit but take note although it is a very windy road and narrow at times, there are 3 sets of new traffic lights that have been installed all around 1km distance between lights and a 5 - 10 minute wait on each set
It takes a good 40 minutes to get to the top
Took a little bit of a drive to get here, but it was well worth it. Great place to take the kids on a family outing. You can feed the birds. The tree tops walk is outstanding. There is quite a fair bit of history about the place too. Very enjoyable. Very picturesque.
Renew, refresh and revitalise... That's how you feel after a visit to O'Reillys. I'll be back.
Lovely place..but no aircon in room..very disappointing..it was 37c inside..couldnt have doors open..no fly/bug screens..
It was like a oven..
Nice place to relax and connect with nature. You should also try the cafe!
Lovely place to visit. Heaps of nature walks of varying distances. Twisty road to access the retreat that takes longer than expected, but worth it. Looks like a lovely place to stay for a few days. Meal options looked limited. One cafe/restuarant for lunch with mixed reviews.
This was an amazing stay! I will be back sooner rather than later. The food was delicious and there was so much I never felt hungry, breakfast had a great range, dinner was all prepared beautifully and the picnic basket was delicious.
The bush walks were lovely and we found that they were all very achievable with some beautiful sites to see around, especially Moran Falls.
The walk from the 2 & 3 bedroom villa's up to the dining room was pretty strenuous, however there was parking up at the reception area that meant you could park if you needed to drive.
The bird life was amazing and if you enjoy photography take a camera as you will get some amazing photos.
I will be back!
It's a sensational experience for the kids and family.
Fantastic retreat. Enjoyable stay that if not cos' of unchangeable hotels booked afterwards, i'd have extended my stay here.
Good in location that it is close to lots of hiking tracks. Can't miss the dinner at the restaurant, yummy. Night time can enjoy drinks in bar or reading in library with wood fire. Room is clean, cosy, furniture & decor well-maintained. Bed and pilows are comfy. Appreciated the translucent ventilation window at rooftop of bathroom that leads in natural light, almost no lighting required for bathroom in daytime. All staff, including front desk, restaurant & bar, activity hosts are patient, professional and hospitable.
If you need to recharge your batteries this is definitely the place to come to. You'll leave feeling refreshed ready to tackle life once again.
Fantastic staff best service weve ever had. Do some of the tours they are worth with every cent ......the Ranger's are loads of fun & very knowledgeable....no questions too hard to answer.
Abundant wildlife so bring your camera and definitely a hat if you are light on top hair wise !! The birds will love sitting on you
The drive to here is fantastic and the bird feeding alone makes the whole place worth it
Beautiful place to visit with family. Only thing which I don't like was there were no garbage bins and you have to take your rubbish along the way back.
A beautiful magical place, great for families, bush walking, and escaping from reality for a while...
O'Reilly's is perfection. My husband and I came up looking for some much needed rest and relaxation and we found it. The accommodation, dining package, view, and adventures we could have here were all outstanding. Will be back as soon as possible.
Went hiking and 4WD nearby only stopped for coffee which was good enough for me.
Unfortunately, very overrated.
Nice scenery, but food is overpriced and service is not the best.
It used to be muccch better!
Lovely accommodation Friendly staff Peaceful bush walks Bird feeding
Exciting! Very good Apartments, clean and a fantastic view
Hi, we arrived early and managed an awesome bird feeding with parrots and Rosellas, a tree top walk and a sauna (me)/spa (dad and kids) and swim, all before our room available. Afternoon tea and morning tea was included, which was a nice touch. Don't expect too much from the rooms. Sometimes part of the mountain view is blocked by other rooms and maintenance a little slack (due for a deep clean/refresh of wet areas). There is a kids club available morning and evening (costs extra) but worth it for a break. Happy hour at the bar starts at 4pm!
Wonderful tree top walk. It's thrilling and scenic from the top. The tree climbing is really scary but thrilling.
We really enjoyed the wildlife experiences with Chloe and the other who was so passionate about what he does.
Nice location.
Everything else was meh
The walls were very beautiful and the food at the restaurant was delicious as well
Great experience lovely place to stay. Massage was amazing!!
A fabulous place! This olde worlde resort included lots of facilities and charming features you would be unlikely to get elsewhere! The history behind the family dynasty responsible for this resort, is astonishing and worth researching, because it adds another layer to the experience for guests. Lamington National Park is majestic, with ancient vistas and bursting with birdlife - a bushwalkers dream! The Gold Coasts best kept secret!
Good place, but the service in the shop wasn't good
Amazing views, very friendly and professional staff. The villa was luxurious and spatious.
Friendly and efficient staff couldn't do enough to help very professional
Superb photography of waterfalls, birds, animals & scenery. Sadly expensive.
If you have a young family, then this place is your dream come true. The entire place is family friendly and all of the activities are based around families having a great time together. However as an older couple this place has nothing to offer. There is no escape anywhere from children, even happy hour is a family affair. Our accommodation was fairly basic with a 70's feel. We were very disappointed, however if you love to listen to the sounds high pitched squealing from over excited little voices all day long and well past 11pm this place is for you.
We stayed for a work conference and while the location is beautiful, the infinity pool was out of order (all week), the service was sporadic and the food was very underwhelming. Lunch was apparently not available to anyone who hadn't booked a conference package, but I'm not sure what other guests did as there is nothing local, the site is very removed. We stayed in a villa, which was self contained, beautiful and very comfortable (albeit a decent walk to the main resort), but others who stayed in the rooms closer to the main buildings said they were very small and basic. The resort as a whole could do with an upgrade, but if you're prepared to self cater in the villas it's a lovely secluded getaway, and the guided rainforest tour was a highlight.
The rooms are starting to get a bit dated, and the food at the cafe could be better for the money, but the staff are extremely friendly and the location is unbeatable. Wifi could do with an update to the 21st century.
An absolutely phenomenal experience.
Everything was perfect! Very rarely works out to be this way, but this retreat was nothing short of perfect.
Hotel staff were extremely friendly amd allowed us to upgrade our room to a higher level without any issues. She gave us premium parking spaces and recommended some activities in the order she thought was most suitable.
The bar was very fun at night time with their happy hour starting at 5pm. We met a tonne of tourists and locals there amd spent the night drinking and having smores by the campfire. Extraordinary experience. Thanks to the wonderful lady who helped us out. Her customer service was above and beyond.
The breakfast was also great.
My Wife and I married here on the 28th of February 2018 and abaolutely loved the location, we tied the knot in the hidden gully and were blown away by home beautiful it was. All of the staff were incredibly helpful and just wonderful to deal with. The walks and wildlife surrounding the retreat were fantastic. I have never seen so many tropical birds in one place before. An astounding place to stay.
Haven't stay this time, but staff is friendly and area is tidy. It would be a great place to escape from the busy and noise of city area. I shall give it a try next time! Twisty road up to the resort, so drive safe.
Beautiful place for a getaway. Even with little kids. Enjoyed every second. Lots of great activities for the whole family. Recommended with enthusiasm!
oriellys is the most rejuvenating reward you could ever give yourself, do yourself a favor give it a go...
The place is awesome to visit if you've got kids, especially the botanical side is so full of life. We saw a tree that almost 200 or 400 years old and it was completely overtaken by a fig tree slowly surrounding it from the outside (it's called strangling). Also the tree top walk was awesome. And don't forget bird feeding.
Fantastic day trip, amazing scenery.
Great food and coffee too!
Beautiful place to calm your soul. Simple and true. Will always be a favourite of mine so will always return.
Love this place, so peaceful and great scenery. Staff were very friendly and helpful with any questions. Food was fantastic, we stayed 2 nights and my partner and I got something different for dinner both nights and loved every meal.
Signage for the hiking trails was also great
Location was perfect. The staff on site were pleasant.
Drive up was terrible, Restaurant and service was ok
We stayed in one of the very comfortable and serene villas. 2 bedrooms each with their own en-suite. The villas are very spacious with a large open plan kitchen/lounge/dining area and high ceilings. Each villa has a deck with dining table, bbq and spa bath. We found ourselves spending a lot of time out on the deck enjoying the gorgeous view. Many birds visit to see if there s any food in the offing making this quite special. (We had king parrots, crimson rosellas, Lewin s honeyeaters and regent s bowerbird all stop by.) The glass doors between deck and living area all fold back to create a lovely big indoor-outdoor space. Minimal insects we didn t get mosquito bites despite having the doors open at dawn and dusk. A very nice place to stay as family keen to enjoy the hiking or a couple on a quiet romantic retreat. (If you are hiking I can recommend the Box Forest circuit around 10.5kms through stunning rainforest and some of the loveliest waterfalls I ve ever seen. Opportunities to swim. ) One last thing to note: O Reillys is remote, which is part of its charm, but it does mean that you should pack supplies accordingly. They have a small store on site for essentials.
Situated in Sokanaisan's Forest, this hotel is a popular base for hiking.
Restaurant was great, walks great, some accom is tired and needs an update..
Good boardwalk trail. Lots of Logrunners and a Paradise Riflebird.
Had a wonderful stay at O Reilly. Queensland is very lucky to have this historic and beautiful place
Fantastic experience. It is best if you can find an experience guide.
Was a great place just needs some clean up looks run done.
Disgusting service from the staff, the toilets where in very poor condition no toilet paper and piss all over the floor once we notified staff manager he didn't even care or apologise. Made it worse that there was a sign in toilet saying they are cleaned regularly. What a joke. I will not be back.
Lots of wildlife and the place for the bird watcher.
Nice and beautiful place with lots of botany, birds, and interesting types of animals. However, the route up and down can be tricky and dangerous
visited the park.. great walks great tree top experience. great to see the parrots and birds that come for feeding and are very tame. this place is well worth the drive from the gold Coast on a road that is pretty average over the last 20 kilometers. would suggest you take your own lunch and drinks if going for a day trip
The hotel counter staff is very poor. I stayed for 2 nights. Because the room was unclean, the equipment was damaged and the landscape was poor. I wanted to change the room. I said that the AM10 can be changed the next day, and then the morning shift service can be changed. PM2:00 can be changed, but the room is still not good, PM4:00, said that the room has not been sorted out, to be changed to PM5:00, feels discriminatory against Asians, and when the checkout, was stolen a lot of price, while I also saw Japanese and Chinese complaining about the difference between the price of the room and the order at the time. It is recommended not to stay in this hotel.
So far our weekend away has been heaven. The stars are so clear, just amazing. Staff so friendly and helpful. Just come, you will not be disappointed.
The road heading to the retreat was pretty jaw dropping scary. We were driving on a narrow zig zag cliff hanging road with no barriers in place. The only consolation was beautiful scenery, lots of flora and fauna available. We got to feed some wild birds. Enjoyed breathtaking sceneries. Great to know this area wasn't affected by the recent bushfires taking place in different parts of the country.
Other than the food the rooms and views are spectacular. I suggest packing your own food. Food is very expensive and not worth the prices. Paid $38 for a small vegetable curry and didn't taste like anything special at all. $28 for a thin based medium sized pizza.
Such a beautiful place definitely worth the trip drive safe on the way up roads are abit narrow with some very tight turns.
We had booked our trip to Australia through a travel agency so we were relying on their experience to choose our accommodations. We could not have been happier with their choice of Oreillys. The views were breathtaking, the food was fantastic, and the staff provided excellent service. To take full advantage of the trails, recommend cardio training before you go.
Magic area for walking and wildlife. Older sections of O'Reillys unfortunately getting dated and desperately need a maintenance schedule implemented. Lots of overseas service staff who, although they try hard, lack the skills. (I actually had to change a beer keg because the staff (2) didn't know how to do it. The bird life tour and glow worm tour were a must. They both had guides who showed they loved their work. I would be tempted to go back.
Very nice place to visit. The bird feeding is a lot of fun. A+
Amazing views, great walks. Guided tour was fun, staff were friendly.
