if I could give this hotel a 0 I would. upon arrival at 6 in the morning I got told I had to pay a 50 early check in fee when on the phone when I booked weeks prior the lady said as we had a young baby, that they would just let us check in and get settled when we arrived. the guy at the desk (of indian decent, cant remember his name or I would type it here) had no clue what he was doing. while checking in we saw him give a girl a key to a room, only to have her walk down 10 minutes later and say "um excuse me there are people in this room" he didn't even put it in the system. any way, apart from that our room STUNK, the shower head didn't work properly, we had our sign on the door since day one (we where there for three days) saying can you please make up our room. NO ONE EVER CAME. no fresh sheets or fresh towels. we had to take them off a shelf. we requested a cot, and when we got there it wasnt in the room the guy just waltzed into our room like an hour later and dumped it on our floor we didnt know how to put it up. only to find out it was broken...and they didnt give two hoots. the only good things about this hotel Is the breakfast and the pool. mind you after we used the highchair we cleaned all the excess food off it from our baby, came to use it the next morning and they hadn't even touched it there was ants everywhere it was all sticky and gross. 0/10 don't stay here!!

Well positioned in the CBD with professional staff throughout. Lovely water views and right in the heart of the city.

The staff are so so helpful and friendly, the rooms are spacious, location is perfect, bar and food is always delicious, and amazing service.
Cannot recommend highly enough.

Just go there, look at the lobby, look up and you will see disgusting old wall decors falling apart, the lobby looks like had the last touch on it in the 60s, you dont need to get a room to pass a judgment, after 2 mins in the lobby i just walked away

Stayed here for 4 nights. Public areas are a little tired/dated/retro. Especially the lifts! It needs a bit of a make-over in the public areas, but that's not really important to me as I spend more time in the room.
Rooms are fine, however. Comfy beds and a lot of free to air and pay TV channels on the TV. Showers have curtains and it stopped about an inch short of where it should have, therefore water ended up all over the floor. A door/screen would be better.
Good location and close to town. Lovely park across the road.
I have to mention the staff here - they were fantastic and very accommodating. Especially Deirdre and Ellie on the front desk. Their service ethic was first-rate and they should be commended on being great ambassadors for the hotel.
The internet pricing/policy needs an urgent make over... 50 MB per day free is archaic and in the dark ages.
Minor points that didn't really affect my stay in a negative way and I would stay again.

Stayed at this hotel a number of times and was always pleased with the hotel, staff, and service. The atrium creates a nice atmosphere and the location is excellent in Darwin. Enjoyed the hotel restaurant as well. I had upgraded rooms and they were very nice. I did note that some street people were taking advantage of the ground floor toilets - maybe security could be a little more alert.

Centrally located on The Esplanade and within walking distance to shops, the wave park, pubs, cafes and restaurants.
Signs over the bar indicate it's open daily from 2:00 PM, but it doesn't open until 4 PM.
Breakfast is great, but we weren't impressed with the dinners we were served. Lunch is not available. Unless you park in the street, parking is AU$10 a day.
They have a small pool at the rear and they can arrange complimentary use of a nearby gym.

Good location on the Esplanade. Beautiful atrium. Nice but limited menu, service is laid back. Our room is showing a little rough in the corners (minor rust and a few cracks) due to humidity. Bed was hard. Room well furnished with separate area for bed and lounge

Do NOT stay in this hotel. I want to let you know that nothing bad happened with staff and there was no incident that has triggered this poor review. That out of the way, the hotel is a mouldy old building that needs to be demolished. As soon as you enter you can smell the damp in the air and the elaborate water feature in the foyer cannot be helping things. Our first room was disgusting. The shower recess (bath tub) had mould all along all edges, around the sink, on the walls, on the ceiling and around the floor tiles near the toilet. My partner wanted to switch hotels immediately but I was too tired and settled on a change of room. We were given three options to look at by the poor staff member who was embarrassed on behalf of her organisation and knew very well we were not being precious. The other two were as bad or worse. The third option was a free upgrade to an apartment. The carpet was so filthy my partner wore thongs everywhere. There was !blood! smeared on the wall. Paint peeling off everywhere. And of course more mould. We steered clear of the restaurant completely. The decor is from the 70's and fixtures and fittings are all tired and stained. Even the fridge was crusty and old. We stayed the night but frankly this place is a health risk to its staff and customers. Banned.

We recently had 2 seperate stays at Novotel Darwin CBD (3 nights and 2 nights). The hotel is well located within an easy walk to all points of interest in the CBD and it's just a walk across the road to see lovely sunsets from the park. Restaurant meals are well prepared and well presented.

My wife and I spent 10 nights at the Novotel Atrium Darwin in June 2016, which was an extremely good experience. Our room was fully air-conditioned, as well as, there was an overhead fan and when combined, this kept us cool in Darwin's 33 degree temperature. The king-size bed was really comfortable and we both slept well.
The buffet breakfast was everything we could ask for including pan-cakes and the evening room service was excellent. Their steak sandwich was to die for.
Parking facilities at the rear of the hotel next to the swimming pool was ideal.
All the staff were most polite and obliging, and they went out of their way to ensure our stay was comfortable.
Should we ever travel to Darwin again, we will definitely book with Novotel.

Fiance booked 2 bedroom apartment months ago which advertised 1 queen 2 singles and a sofa bed as she was having family and friends up for her hens party. Check in to find 2 queens and no sofa bed. Rang front desk to say this wasn't what was booked but was told hotel was booked out nothing could be done. No roll aways or anything. Instead they brought up an extra pillow and sheet for someone to sleep on very short couch. My fiance's mother and sister proceeded to find alternative accommodation at the Doubletree on the esplanade. Room is small with damage on ceiling and room doors. Mould in Bathroom and the mattress on our bed sagged. The chairs in the living area were also worn. All this from a 4 star hotel. Plus mushrooms growing in the decorative garden (knew they weren't fake as they'd changed overnight). Needs major refurbishment and customer service was also very lacking, couldn't care less the room wasn't what was booked.

Everything was good, very "used" - but as a transit hotel for one night ok. Price for this performance compared to other Novotels way too high.

The worst Novotel I ever stay. The bathroom is kind of old and dirty. Room layout is awkward. When entering the room, instead you see the living room first, you see your bed! The living room is at the back end. Internet is so slow and weak signal in room. The good thing is its location where is is closed to restaurants, pubs, beer places street in Darwin. However there are many hotels to choices around this area.

Excellent customer service, the staff were always willing to help me with anything I needed. The restaurant had good meals, and the bar was pretty handy after a day of exploring the city and surrounds. It's proximity to Mitchell Street also makes it a great place to stay if your keen to check out the nightlife. Will definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Darwin.

Very nice place central area. Although a older building still maintained. Nice bar and restaurant. Great buffet breakfast. Had issues with door swipes being deactivated in error and being charged for coffee I had not purchased, both issues fixed without any fuss. I'd stay again

Very happy with the room we were given and location close to everything made it very enjoyable, though on the downside the TV in the bedroom wasn't operating very well not been turned in correctly and some minor maintenance issues that require attention.
Overall though a very pleasant stay for the wife and myself.

The hotel is well located on the esplanade and not far from the shops in the cbd. Street parking available. The restaurant offers a good selection of meals for dinner and a great buffet breakfast. The bar has a great choice of beer, wine and spirits. Room was very comfortable, no view but adequate. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Been to many Novotel Hotels in Australia. This one is very ordinary. Bathroom more akin to a three star hotel or motel or less. Did not get my wake up call on one morning. Called reception at 9pm and did not get e response even after 45 minutes of trying. Was there for 5 nights no entertainment in the evenings.

Lovely staff but this building is "tired" at best. Rooms are comfortable but the bathrooms are in desperate need of renovation with paint peeling off the ceiling, clay tiles on the floor which are so rough on your feet we layed towels down so as to not cut our feet. Chipped bath, cracks in walls, towel rails falling off walls etc. Also severly understaffed with a very busy weekend breakfast and only one chef on. Waiting for food and for tables to be cleared etc. Plus you have Shenanigans Irish pub behind you, if in a room at the back of the building that has blaring pub music every night. Again great staff doing a great job in tough conditions. Accor hotels needs to renovate this hotel ASAP.

Great location but hotel is quite dated. We were upgraded, without us asking, to a junior suite which was appreciated but the room itself had mould and flaking paint on the bathroom ceiling and the air conditioner itself smelt badly of stale mouldy air when on. The hot water in the shower needs to be turned on 5 minutes beforehand to get it to the taps. The staff at the hotel are really nice but for the price this place is over rated.

Hotel looks aged and the room air conditioning doesn't seem to be that effective at room 125. Perhaps it is because the windows are not weathertight or the aircond is under capacity for the large room.
Breakfast is the same thing daily and cost 29 dollars. The lobby bar Happy hour after 5pm has beers from 6 dollars.

I went to the Novotel Atrium for a buffet lunch in the Brolga Room today - at a private function.
The food was very tasty.
The coffee was excellent.
Staff were attentive, without being intrusive.
It's long time since I have eaten a-la-carte at the Novotel - it was always good food, good service, and a reasonable price, so I must refresh my experience.

A great #Accor #hotel hiding in the #darwin CBD. Friendly helpful staff, welcoming reception. Rooms are large enough for family with kids, clean, bed is comfortable, no outside noise, nice esplanade views. Pool is big enough for kids with a little grassy play area. Foyer is green and leafy and great for kids to investigate. Large range of breakfast choices.
A great place for a romantic staycation

Very happy and helpful staff. The rooms are a little old and need some repair especially wardrobe doors. The 2 bedroom apartments have no powerpoints in the second bedroom ....crazy!

Friendly staff offering great Customer service.
This accommodation is very close to the heart of the Darwin city. The room was large and well presented with a lovely view from my window. In room safe, iron & board, hair dryer, small fridge with coffee and tea amenities.
The foyer is lush with tropical plants and plenty of seating. The dining room was very clean and I was served by Delia who was just lovely.
Although the menu is limited, it means what they offer is of a high standard.
I enjoyed a succulent Barramundi, followed by a melt-in-your-mouth Raspberry & Almond slice, double cream and an amazing crunchy crumble!
Buffet breakfast starts at 6am until 10am (full breakfast $29) or you can preorder for morning room service.
Across the road is the lovely Bicentennial Park with plenty of shade and seating.
Paid parking is available at the rear.
Wheelchair access and parking is available.

Great staff, great location, buffet breakfast has everything you'd want. Would be nice to have a daily special dish so there was something different for people staying more than a couple of days. Only downside is it's a bit dated but clean so ready for a fefurb.

Stayed for 4 nights on a work trip. Great location, easily accessible to all of Darwin and the pubs and restaurants of Mitchell Street. The Atrium is amazing with natural light, creepers/vines draping down the balconies and a lovely Creek and rainforest feel at the bar. Room was amazing with everything you need. The only downside is the bathroom was a little out dated and the hot water was a real pain, taking a very long time to heat up before scalding hot even with the cold water on full. Otherwise, a great place to stay and I would certainly stay again. Highly recommended.
