It is a beautiful Resort and the facilities and pool area is lovely .. However, our room was a total let down - shoddy and awfully small and nothing like the pictures on the website suggested..therefore I won't return to La Montagne for another holiday.. Sorry

Beautiful view! Very easy access to the beach. Receptionist not the friendliest... The inside of the bathroom cabinet was not clean on arrival (toothpaste/brush mark), so given COVID19, I ended up sanitising, even though the room was marked sanitised.

We've stayed here many times before as hotel guests and when staying somewhere else in town we enjoyed to go there for an afternoon lunch and some cocktails. Always had excellent service and enjoyed it so much. But things changed. We went there on Wednesday this week for our usual lunch and cocktail. As we were not staying there this time and was camping we thought it would be nice for decent meal and cocktail , only to ve told that we need to pay a 120 rand per person before entering the hotel as entrance fee. We asked if we would get it discounted on our food bill or part of it only to be told it was only the entrance fee with no vouchers or discounts. As we were 4 people it worked out 480 just to enter without anything to eat or drink yet. We off course turned around and left as we as a family cannot jusify paying that to enter a hotel for lunch. La montagne was good to us for many years ( over 14 years) but will unfortunately not see us again.

We booked a studio apartment which had the bedroom and kitchen as one room. The kitchen were very small with a microwave, cutlery, kettle and cupboards with a washing basin. Hot water at the kitchen were not available though. The room itself was not set up practical in every respect with the wardrobe far too small, as a matter of fact the smallest of all the hotels I went to before with not even enough space for 1 person. The lamp on the one side of the bed were very far from the bed and exceptionally high. My wife simply could not reach it to switch on or off so we changed sides for her sake.

We were disappointed in the towels they provided that it was not always as clean as expected. Unfortunately there is an extractor fan in the bathroom that makes quite a bit of noise and cannot be switched off separately.

Upon our arrival, at reception we were given a card to our room and parking. The card did not open the parking boom and I needed to return to reception to have it corrected. When we reached our room, the card did not open our room. We asked for assistance from one of the security personnel which tried in vain for about 20 minutes or more. Later during the week, the card stopped functioning again and I needed to return it to reception again. By this time they have provided us with 3 cards already.

With our arrival at our room, we discovered that the hotel were conducting maintenance to some rooms next to us. Workers were constantly in front of our sea view door and building material were occasionally dumped in front of or studio apartment spoiling the view and making things uneasy to us in terms of security and privacy. The door to the outside patio did not have a key either and could only be locked from the inside rendering it useless when wanting to exit via the patio. We inquired about a key and hotel personnel explained that the maintenance manager was not on site and they could not be of assistance to us until he is available the next day. The manager of the hotel were also not present, but did phone us, however, he had quite an attitude and were unwilling to be of any assistance to us the same day. It was very clear to us that if one staff member is absent, there is no one else to perform his/her duties. Management at the hotel is truly of a low standard. The hotel personnel present was friendly though, but they could not act because of the absence of key personnel.

What was maybe more surprising to me of all, was that neither the information brochure nor any note at the telephone in the room provided any information as to how to contact reception from the room. This was the very first time in all of my traveling s to any hotel or guest house that none of that information was provided. I needed to contact reception one evening late from my room and it was then that I found out this discrepancy. It cost me to go to reception late the evening for something that could be resolved by just phoning them from the room. To my surprise they did not seem surprised or deterred in anyway by me mentioning this to them, as a fact it looked as if they thought it is normal. The safe in the room also had no instruction note explaining how to use it at all and we just decided that we had enough contact with reception so far and will rather try and avoid going there again, so we decided to not use the safe.

Our own decisions as to how to deal with issues and ignoring some problems made us to still enjoy our time. Unfortunately one expects more and was it not for these issues and management incompetence, we could have rated this as a great stay for us. The hotel restaurant was also nothing special and after using it once, we decided to go out and rather eat somewhere else. Waiters were very unprofessional, slow service with lack of quality of food.

In my opinion, try and see if you can find another hotel in the area at the beachfront, it might be worth it to pay a little more even. If not, it remains an option, though not the first choice for me again.

Idid not even get a chance to stay there. I made a booking on booking.com during March and when Covid-19 came about, I tried to change reservation dates with no luck. I tried calling, I tried sending emails, I even went on their Instagram page but no luck. No one seems to be willing to help.
All I want is to change dates and go on my vacation or get my money back.

This place is fantastic but they seriously need to get rid of the annoying dance music being played from 09:30 in the morning. If you want a peaceful breakfast then go before 09:30. Their food is also only mediocre and I ended up eating outside of the resort or rather cooking in. Their food prices are highly overpriced, especially the wannabe "fine dining" restaurant Crayfish Inn. For a restaurant located at the ocean to charge what they do for Crayfish is just highway robbery. There is more food on 3 queen prawns than on the tiny Crayfish they serve. I literally finished in 3 bites. Go to The Galley down the road for seafood or Gianni's for Italian.
Other than the food and music, the resort is excellent in service and location. I would highly recommend.

I might have set my expectations too high. We've visited the hotel twice before and had an amazing experience in terms of service. Unfortunately our experience wasn't so great this time. The staff watched us struggle with our luggage upon arrival and our air-con wasn't working. Housekeeping gave us a rude awakening on Saturday morning & when we asked her to come back in a few minutes she refused. We waited for clean towels for more than 3hrs despite several calls to the housekeeping dpt and reception. A special thank you to the staff (Bandile "BG" & Trevor) who went an extra mile to ensure our stay was comfortable. Thanks to you we might consider coming back again.

Forth time at La Montagne. Lovely place, good value for money. Had lots of rain during the second week of Dec 2019, but still enough to keep the kids busy at this resort. Beautiful sea views.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Absolutely stunning, views.. right on the beach, right by everything you need. 2.2km from Mall and close to everything els... I will definitely book again but for a longer period... The only complaint I have is that the food and beverage services at the pool area is very poor and I mean very poor....we waited 25 min to be severd and half an hour for our food..ordered drinks got the wrong order.... For me It was quicker to buy at he grocery store around the corner than to sit and wait at La Montagne swimming area to be served .... Overall no other complaints. Thanks for a lovely stay
