Turn of the century ASYLUM style psychiatric floor...
Turn of the century ASYLUM style psychiatric floor. Do NOT send someone you care about to this hospital. They provide meds & a locked door. While there were a few kind nurses (thank god) there is no therapy, no therapeutic programming of any kind, no activities. Access to water is restricted, they never get a pass to go outside like other programs or even exercise, and the food is frequently inedible. (So yeah psychiatric care that starts with restricting the top most essential elements of mental health beyond meds: healthy diet, exercise, sunshine, water.) Staff was nonchalant about sexually predatory patients coming into her room at night, not to mention stopping him from being sexually inappropriate during meal time or really anytime in common areas. Another violent patient attacked and broke bones of a staff member. Complaining to patient services about the lack of therapeutic care, difficult unhelpful staff, and dangerous unsafe environment was met with a "what do you expect" attitude. They were unprofessional and unreliable regarding discharge planning and kept her WEEKS longer than necessary only to send her to a completely inappropriate program 3 hours away without even doing all the necessary paperwork!! Shame on this barbaric program. This is not about individual staff, this is wrong on deep fundamental level.
