New York Habitat has been a pleasure to work with. It seems they ve created a system that works for guests AND owners. Christophe (the agent that s been handling my apartment bookings) has been extremely professional - straightforward, reliable, responsive. He just knows what he's doing. He also addresses my concerns when they come up...not something I ve felt with other agencies/platforms. Frankly, it feels good to find a service that works so well and to endorse it!

I contacted New York Habitat to look for a vacation rental in New York, it was Christophe Pourquier who processed my request.
I was very well understood and the reservation was made during the day.
Christophe is very professional, responds very quickly to all the questions, moreover with courtesy, which is very pleasant. Personally, I appreciated that he answers me in French, it is an undeniable more when one does not control good english to understand all the details of the reservation.
I recommend you to go through it if you search for a seasonal rental, he will understand you and reassure you.

I stayed in an apartment share for 3 months in NYC until I transferred to a new university, and the apartment owner was absolutely crazy. She was very nice during our first meeting, but as soon as I moved in she started harassing me and saying I couldn t do things she already agreed to, such as using her pots/pans, using the living room, and she even went as far as to LOCK away the microwave and toaster oven. I won t bore you with the minutiae of the screaming and threats, but I will tell you I had to cal the police for my own safety. I unfortunately had to stay in the apartment even after this, because I didn t have a temporary space to stay, and NY habitat did NOTHING to help me, even after countless contact with them discussing the harassment. If i had the time I would have pursued legal action, but I was moving too far away. A previous tenant even posted a review stating she had the same problems as me and had to move out early, but NY habitat still decided to take my money and put my safety in jeopardy.

NY Habitat is an excellent agency with excellent professionals like Mr Pourquier who I always spent to make my reservations for NY holidays.
The apartments are very good with all the necessary comfort.
If you want to rent an apartment for your stay do not hesitate they are perfect !!!!

I just booked an apartment in NY for a few days in summer 2014 with new NY Habitat remotely from Europe through their WEB site. As I couldn't visit the apartment on site yet I cannot rate the apartment itself yet, but I can say that the booking process was very professional, including a very friendly and extremely fast response from Christophe in my mother language (French), who answered by e-mail even during the week-end, which was beyond my expectations....

We used New York Habitat to book an apartment for a two month stay in New York. Their website is very easy to use and there is a great deal of choice. We found the perfect apartment but very unfortunately the owner pulled out three weeks before our stay due to changes in her building management's short term rentals policy. The replacement apartment we found at short notice is not quite so perfect... This was not NY Habitat's fault, but be warned it can happen. Having said that, throughout the process (especially our stressful search for a replacement) our agent Christophe was incredibly helpful, friendly and available 7/7. I recommend him warmly.

In May I started looking for a place for my daughter to rent while she went to school at NYU for the summer. I contacted New York Habitat regarding a few apartments I saw on their website. As a Canadian who did not know the NYC rental market, it was a bit anxiety provoking to start the process. After sending them the initial email, they assigned me Beth as my consultant. She was great. She was able to help me secure a nice apartment on the upper east side that was within my budget and she handled all the paper-work and connected me to the landlord. I had a great experience with this company and would use them again.

The proposals of the site are interesting, we also feel reassured to go through an agency because of the rental restrictions on New York which must not fail to lead to many unpleasant surprises or even scams!

I would STRONGLY advise against using NY Habitat based on our experience with them. The New York office listed an apartment in Paris which we leased for 10 months. The website explains that all properties have been inspected and the landlords vetted by NY Habitat but we do not believe that they had devoted any real effort in this regard to the property we rented. They are selling a service providing listings for furnished properties to those needing to find accommodation in London/Paris/NYC from abroad with no chance to view them, usually for minimum periods of 1 month. On arrival the property was extremely dirty, fitted with half-broken furniture and the cupboards already full of the remains from previous tenants. The conclusion of the lease ended up in dispute with the landlord over return of our deposit and NY Habitat did dutifully chase her several times at our instigation. However, our requests for any greater help both adjudicating with the landlord and advising us on our potential recourses under French tenancy law were woeful from NY Habitat. They merely washed their hands of the matter and retained their hefty up-front fee of over 10% of the total rental contract. That amount of money for a listing on their website is questionable at best.

I travelled from Washington DC to London on 28 July 2020 in order to spend a few months with my partner, who lives in London, but decided to rent a separate apartment as I was also teleworking and needing to make many work calls late at night (i.e. during DC time zone working hours) that would potentially disturb my partner while sleeping had I stayed with him instead.

So I settled on Jane's rental apartment, which lies on a quiet leafy street in a charming neighbourhood. One of the first things I loved about the place, in the Covid context we are in, is that it has a separate entrance into the apartment and one enters directly from the outdoors, i.e. no need to walk through indoor hallways shared by multiple people, as is common for apartments. Also a big value of this rental related to the pandemic era: Since UK rules demanded that US visitors had to quarantine for the first 14 days, it made all the difference to me that there was a private outdoors patio in which I could spend time while honouring the quarantine rules, so I didn't have to coop up indoors for 2 weeks.

The apartment is super-cosy! There is tonnes of light that floods through multiple windows throughout. It was spotless clean, and the kitchen is spacious and is a separate room from the living area. The place has everything one needs: a dishwasher, a washing machine that functions also as a dryer, a nice big bathtub, a sofa that can be pulled out into a big bed, and all manners of appliances and equipments for cooking and dining. I was perfectly comfortable working on my laptop for many hours every day at the expandable table in the living room. And the view from the window onto Jane's impeccable oasis of a garden created a serene ambience.

Jane is a warm and friendly host who went the extra mile to make sure I was comfortable and happy throughout my time there! She furthermore had great tips for where to eat and what to do in the neighbourhood.

I would strongly recommend this rental to anyone visiting--it's really pretty much perfect! And I myself would go back in a heartbeat if something brought me back to London with a need to rent a place.

It's been almost 7 years now that I use the services of New York Habitat to put my furnished apartments in New York for rent, and after 7 years I can testify to the efficiency and the incredible energy that puts the agent Christophe Pourquier to find tenants. Thanks to its exceptional qualities, I am always reassured when the occupancy rate of my apartments. In addition, I am always happy to be able to transfer rental requests directly to me because I know that he will take great care of his new clients as he does for his owners. I recommend Christophe Pourquier and the agency New York Habitat without hesitation and with great pleasure.

I would have given them 0 stars if it was possible. New York Habitat will basically collect your money and you won't hear from them again. Our landlord refused to give us back our deposit and there was nothing we could do from France.
If you want to see your deposit back, I strongly advise you not to rent an apartment from Paula Odessa. She was dishonest and purely and simply stole our money.
I hope this will help and prevent people from having the same terrible experience with New York Habitat and this landlord.

New York habitat is quick to collect agent commission but slow to respond to your needs and communication. I would never recommend using New York Habitat. While the website is rather easy to follow, contacting agents is of no help. Tamara Chevdar was not a responsive agent. When I called New York Habitat and asked to change agents, they asked why. I told them that I wanted someone more responsive. Then, their receptionist mistakenly included me on an email indicating to the manager that I had requested a new agent.

Why does the manager include my original agent on an email two days later? They really don't seem to be organized at all.

I also don't understand how something can no longer be available ten minutes after I indicate wishing to see the unit, but then available two days later.

Brokers in general are a bit sleazy here in New York, but New York Habitat wins the award for being the worst! If you're going to invest in finding an apartment in New York, look somewhere else.

I had a wonderful experience with Linda from NY habitat. She was not only timely in responding, but incredibly dedicated to catering to our needs. Would 100% use her again.

I found on the internet, by any chance, NewYork Habitat because I was looking for an apartment in NY. Through the "contact us" I explained what were my needs. And miraculously I found a very helpful person on the other side - Christophe - who has proposed us some apartaments with very interesting features. We have really stressed him with all our doubts. But he was very patient and exhaustive. So we found finally the perfect apartment for us. Thank you Christophe!

We booked a place with them paying 1900$ fees for a rental of a 2BR apartment. When our moving date was approaching, they told us that the apartment was no longer available but they refused to refund our fees.
they claimed that they were not responsabile here and that I needed to deal with the owner.
so, I was asking why I paid them fees for : it was not only to book a place, it was to guarantee that I was going to be able to move in at the end.
so, be very careful when you do business with them because if there is a problem, you won't be protected.

I see all responses from NY Habitat to reviewers and they only seem to worry about how to explain that the complaints are wrong. They do not seem to be thinking what they need to improve, a 3.3 average rating is mediocre at best, there must be plenty of room to improve the service. I am looking for an apartment, but will probably look somewhere else.

First opinion: Very good approach to this agency thanks to Christophe Pourquier who knew how to be very responsive and very professional. The day after my contact he already offered me 2 apartments meeting all my criteria and I was finally able to book one of them without problem. All that remains is to have a great stay in May 2020 which already looks very good with our private apartment! :)

Second opinion: Given the health crisis, my trip to NY planned for May had to be canceled. I had incurred agency fees to reserve my apartment through this agency and so I sent an email to Christophe Pourquier to find out if compensation was possible. He replied within an hour, and, to my delight, announced the possibility of having a credit card valid for 2 years in all the places offered on their site !!

NyHabitat was a life saver for me in NYC. I've been living in my NyHabitat Apartment for over a year. It's all about the landlord you get. Before renting make sure the property gets good reviews and read everything on the page to make sure you understand the terms. Would strongly recommend.

I had an amazing experience with NY Habitat. I was looking for the right apartment for a couple of weeks, and when I found NY Habitat I was provided with exactly what I was looking for. My experience with this company was great from start to finish. The chat on the website was so helpful and the person - Anna - who helped me initially was so efficient and helped me with everything I needed. I then got connected to Christophe Porquier who helped me through every step with absolutely amazing service, to find the best apartment for me. He found a place for me and my roommate that I hadn t seen, and wouldn t have found without him. I cannot recommend him and this company enough, I am so happy with the service I ve received!

Christophe found the perfect apartment for me that matched the location, price and amenities that I was looking for. He and his associate Nick were there for me every step of the way. For well over 10 years I have dealt with agents at N.Y. Habitat to rent my furnished apartment uptown. I have found the agents to be honest and responsive. They have told me what to expect price wise and have explained the best they could about the potential renter to me, as often times I have to choose between more than one applicant. All paperwork is done professionally and promptly. I was reading some of these negative reviews and it seems that often folks don't realize that they are just brokers, not property managers !! It is also important to realize that if a room/apt. is very inexpensive in NYC they should not expect much. NYC is very expensive, and if you want a nice place... or you don't want to share an apartment, you must have a large budget. I have had wonderful experiences with many of the agents, Christophe, Nick, Beth, Jean-Phillipe and others. Thanks NY Habitat!

Very responsive service. Regarding the choice of apartment, our needs were heard and when we encountered a difficulty they were able to resolve the situation, always responding very quickly to our emails. I recommend !

Total scam. We were 5 French students doing an internship at Columbia University for 3 months. The apartment was fine but the owner waited until we left to get us an incredible invoice of damaged furniture leading to the non-reimbursement of the entire deposit of 3200 !!!
We made a complaint by putting the agency in copy of the emails and asking for their help since we returned to France but the agency and the owner no longer respond to anything.

it was the worst appartment i ever rent in my life, the owener is a crasy person and the agency charge me too much money for it, i would never recommend New York Habitat to anybody, they need to do background check about their clients,

I recently had an excellent experience with New York Habitat. While under a very tight deadline to find an apartment in NYC while living in Los Angeles, I was able to find the perfect apartment. Their service was super easy to use and the website provided a lot of detailed information. My agent, Beth Weiler, could not have been more helpful. I rented a studio for a short stay in NYC between November and December.
To avoid wasting too much time in my search for housing, I directly ask the agency NY Habitat to offer me housing in a price range and a sector. I was very well informed by an available and friendly agent who explained everything in French and answered all my requests.

We booked an apartment in Brooklyn for 6 nights recently. The 'splurb' on the apartment indicated that it was an apartment in which the owner lived, but we thought it would be good to meet a local. We were told further, from reviews, that the place was rather cluttered and old. One of the reviews also indicated that it was not particularly clean. The replies to the reviews by the owner seemed quite reasonable on both accounts and thus we booked it. The price was inexpensive by NYC standards.

When we arrived, we were taken aback at the clutter. We had 1 small drawer to store all our belongings (better to continue living out of a suitcase), the wardrobe was filled with the lady's belongings, and the floor thereof was filled with blankets etc. The sheets on the bed were extremely old and even though it was the middle of summer and very hot and humid, were flannelette sheets. The shared bathroom had so many bottles etc everywhere with absolutely not one inch of space to put any of our things. The toilet refill function was faulty, and we were shown how to turn the water system off at the wall and then turn it on again, which then filled up the cistern. The kitchen, which we were planning to use, was equally cluttered but was also filled with fruitfly everywhere. The apartment would definitely not meet the health standards in Australia.
Fortunately the owner was a lovely lady and as she also had a cat and my husband is allergic to some cats, we let her know that we could not stay. She kindly declined to take any payment (even though we did not spend a night there)

I contacted New York Habitat, letting them know the state of the place and asking for my administration fee to be returned, seeing that we did not make use of the apartment and giving them the full story of our experience. They stated that the place is fine by their estimation, explaining that the low cost indicated the quality of the place. They have declined to do so, but instead offered us a 30% reduction in the administration fee when we book through them again.
However once bitten, twice shy!

I certainly could not recommend the organisation. In saying that, their staff member, Christophe, was very pleasant and helpful.

Finding the right person to assist with any given task presents a challenge. It is especially true when attempting to find the right broker. This seemed like an impossibility until we met Christophe Pourquier, Associate Broker at New York Habitat. Christophe has a clear understanding of the type of market that I want to reach. He is wonderfully communicative, and has great attention to detail which is such an important quality required of a broker. I am always secure in the knowledge that before he contacts me with a potential client, he has already done the leg work to ensure that they could be the right fit. From my many years of working with Christophe, I have no doubt that he respects the property owner as well as his clients and is sensitive not to waste anyone's time. I cannot recommend his services enough to anyone looking for an excellent broker.

This is the first time I visit New York Habitat to find a rental in NYC. I really liked the efficiency and professionalism of the agent. She was able to reassure me and inform me for my first long-term experience in NYC! In the top
