The staff was great. I wish I could give a better review but please be aware of how expensive this facility is and how hard their billing department will make things. It takes over a month to get a claim out to insurance so it may seem like things are fine, but months later you'll get a bill for much more than expected. I got a price quote before getting allergy testing done and the final price was more than double. By that time, I had already come in for another test so I know I'm about to go through this again in the next couple of months. The billing department has been unable to answer questions or help me, just telling me to call other departments. I'm completely frustrated with them and won't continue to get allergy care here. Waiting time to get into see anyone is at least a month. I've been waiting weeks to get a call back to even get a follow up scheduled and have called in multiple times. If they ever call me back, I won't be scheduling with them because even if i do get in sometime this summer, I can't afford it anymore. Also worth mentioning, they will try to give you tests that aren't medically necessary like spirometry or lab tests. I had to tell them repeatedly that I didn't have asthma and didn't want the extra diagnostic charges when it wasn't needed. I'm in the dispute process on labs that I was charged for that I didn't even know they were running.

Extremely poor experience and communication during my entire process. Still battling a basic allergy test bill from almost 2.5 years ago that was grossly inflated. My doctor was hardly present and obviously had better places to be in our very brief encounter.

Very disappointed with NJH! My son went in for an Office visit with a Pulmonologist and we paid our co-pay for the visit. We are then billed as a outpatient visit for the Hospital which is then applied to our deductible. They claim this is how they always do this and that there is some paperwork. Do not go here for a simple office visit with a DR. You will be extorted for much more than your copay!

Today is my second visit to National Jewish bringing a patient to her appointment. Today is May 1, 2018 and it is 8:09am. This is our second time here and we had the same very poor experience with the valet. He is rude, condescending, not at all helpful, and is a very poor representation of this hospital. He really should be removed as he is the first representative One comes in contact with should the valet service be used. I watched his interactions with the car in front of me. It was an elderly lady with an oxygen tank. She had trouble getting out of her car with the tank. I actually got out of my car to help her and he simply watched without interest. He then waited for her to walk to him and waited for her to ask for her to request the valet service and his first response was are you a patient? I was stunned.

Best hospital for lung issues. People come from all over the country to receive care from National Jewish and there's a reason for it. It is top notch. The building is a bit old but that's not a big deal. They also have swim lessons for kids in the full size therapy pool which is great because it's nice and warm.

This is by far the worst hospital I have ever gone to. Not only was I not able to fill my prescription due to an invalid DEA number (which leads me to believe the "doctors" here are not actually accredited) but I got a bill from a collections agency for a bill I paid in full some time back (even though it was supposed to have been covered by insurance). I will definitely be reporting this organization. National Jewish has turned out to be nothing but a sham. Avoid it at all costs.

I was referred by my Doctor in Colorado Springs for a symptomatic Colonoscopy and when I called to make an appointment I was told the ONLY time available is at 7:30 am even though I told the scheduler I have to drive up from Colorado Springs. I cannot believe that a facility that is open all day long can only get me in so early in the morning?? Also, just to add to that inconvenience, I was told I need to make two appointments... one for a consult (I don't know why, I have already been referred by my Doctor) and then a second time for the actual procedure. I am not impressed.

We have been working with doctors in the KC metro area for years looking for answers. Finally, we asked if there was a place like Mayo for respiratory issues. We spent a week here and got finally got answers. The staff was great and everything was well organized to make the most of the time we were there. I recommend NJH for BBC anyone with respiratory issues.

Great facility. Received a comprehensive exam and chest x-ray. I also received a timely response from Jennifer Smith PA, explaining the results of my testing. My appointment was conducted on time and expeditiously. This is an amazing facility with amazing people working there.

I waited for 2 months to get an appointment to have some oxygen saturation test done. Finally last week I had my appointment with the doctor. The test went well and the doctor was great. But the valet services were a nightmare. When they returned my car had a dent in the front hood. I was told that I could have a claim filed but it would be denied. So I asked to have the claim filed to fix the dent in my hood and sure enough the claim was denied. Without any explanation other than our valet driver said he didn't know what happened. They have refused to tell me where the car was parked or who drove it. So please beware when handing over your keys to these careless valet drivers. You could end up with 1600.00 in damages to you car like I did.

I have been going to National Jewish for many many years. First was about CFS myalgic encephalomyelitis until my doctor left to go to the CDC. Now I come to National Jewish for a Circadian Rhythm Disorder and a breathing problem. I have always found the doctors to be top notch and the support staff warm and friendly making the experience a good one.

It was the only library that was open before noon, and three different people told me I could use a small corner of the library for my work. I promised to be out of there by noon to go to the next library. Then the supervisor called her manager-five minutes after I'd set up shop and gone to the bathroom-and outed me after giving me the green light to sit there . When i returned the supervisor closed her door and the manager told me I had to leave because I wasn't an employee. The one other patient who was a bystander in the room was the one who ended up apologizing for the run-around.

That's all fine and good; you have a right to kick me out of a private establishment where you pay a lot to reside there. But I lost an hour of my time and was treated poorly because there was miscommunication among the staff and because you advertise the library as public on Google. It's not hard to fix the indexing of how your establishment is searched by the way, so don't pass the buck by blaming the IT department.

I love this medical facility. They're thorough, fast, and very kind and understanding. Just message sure you see a Dr. You're comfortable with, who listens to you. I have a new Dr. And I'm going to switch. She's been my only disabling experience. So I'm looking for a new one who'll listen and help, and who'll be consistent. Otherwise they're an A+!!!

I had a great experience and also find the previous review surprising. Every step of the process was friendly and efficient, from the info I found on the website, the phone operator, reception and check in, the nursing staff to the doctor and his resident. I felt as if National Jewish had one concern - my health. It's no wonder this is a world renowned hospital - we are lucky here in Denver to have them down the street.

We will never come here again. We took my son here for allergy testing. I paid the bill online and apparently it didn't go through......I received no further communications from them of any kind, nothing saying this would be sent to collections, no phone calls, etc. Suddenly I get a bill from a collections agency. I have been on the phone all morning with the billing department, they are rude, put you "on hold" for extended periods of time and suddenly end phone calls. I called immediately back but now the person I was talking to "is at lunch". I'm trying to pay the bill now and they "can no longer accept payment". I spoke with someone named Trevor in billing who was impressively unprofessional. This billing department claims they tried to call my phone but it was busy. It's a cell phone....there is no such thing as "it's busy" so I know they are not being honest. I received no voicemails from them, no emails, nothing. Bills sent to collections can just destroy your credit and give you problems buying a house, etc. Wow what a way to treat a working family with kids!! We will go to Children's for all further heath care needs of my son, I've heard they do an excellent job with allergies and allergy testing.

This review is from an employee's perspective. This is not from a patient viewpoint. Hopefully the HR team can turn this into something positive for future hires.
The doctor who runs Immunology and the Compliment Lab is an exceptional communicator and as low-stress as a leader can be under challenging conditions. This is the rare individual who truly listens to her staff. Everyone was sincere in welcoming me on board and I felt that I was joining something very special.
Unfortunately my new hire experience was about as bad as it gets.
There was no training and development plan in place whatsoever for new Compliment Lab project managers which is what I was contracted to do, a new SOFT LIS roll out which had some major architecture and user issues, very high stress levels in several areas and understaffed teams have to work long hours and weekends to catch up.
My trainer was so slammed with heavy workloads that they honestly didn't have the time to properly train a new employee.
I was really hoping to succeed in this role but feel like I was indirectly set up for failure from day one.
Revenue from big pharma clients is the top priority and rules every decision the managers and marketing/sales teams make.
This is one simple example of what happens when big money influences medicine and research, even in a nonprofit medical center like National Jewish Health.

The NJ culture is very unique and really quite special, but just make sure that if you are invited to interview for a position that you have all of the hard questions written down in advance so that you can receive honest answers and hopefully succeed.

I have had a horrible experience with National Jewish Health. It is very difficult to make appointments and the entire process is very confusing. I expressed my financial concerns with my doctor, nurse, and the financial counseling. I was quoted around $60 for one appointment that was accurate, $500 for another which was also accurate and documented. I was quoted around $400 for allergy testing and it ended up costing over $1,5000 dollars. Of course this was not documented and I am at fault. I was not warned that this estimate would be so wrong. It is nearly 4 times more than I anticipated. I called to discuss this and could tell this is a typical problem they encounter, as they gave me a condescending, protect their interests response. I was told that this was my ignorance for not hearing that this was merely an estimate and not knowing my insurance. I was very aware of my insurance and hence the reason I spent extra time with financial counseling. I knew this would be out of pocket. I was anticipating $1000 maximum. I am now stuck with a $2,500 bill. I have spent hours on the phone being belittled, told of my ignorance, and told that I willingly selected National Jewish Health. I would steer clear of National Jewish at all costs unless you want to deal with the hassles of their systems, spending hours on the phone being shuffled between new staff with attitudes, and ultimately being told that you are unintelligent, dispensable patient.

Both my wife and I have gone here (Colfax bldg.) or in one of the branch offices. The doctors were highly qualified and thorough in examination - the resulting treatment plan was very good.

As one is ushered through the procedures of seeing a doctor, I/we found everyone here was both courteous and considerate.

Yes, it may take awhile at least at times, so be sure to bring a book. In defense of such possible delays, the folks here do not rush you through an office visit. They take the time to explain what's going on, what needs to happen next, and answer questions you may have.

Also, NJH provides an excellent web site to message your doctor(s), review prior visits - actually most of what you might want to find out about.

Be extremely careful when going to National Jewish for any service. They overcharge for their services and do not tell patients the full costs until way after the fact. I went in for a simple consultation for potential seasonal allergies and left with a bill for $1600. $600 of which was from just the initial speaking to the Doctor. As many other reviewers seem to have the same experience, I highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs. I tried working with the billing department and they are extremely rude and unhelpful. The billing in general is terrible, and you can t get any information online or check payments you have made.

The doctors here are great and I love the fact that they do a lot of research. However, the prices are certainly not justified. I had about 5 appointments with a pulmonologist, a couple of breathing tests (all you are doing is breathing into a machine) and some blood work done. My bill came out to be about $1200. I qualified for financial assistance even though I make $50k annually. My bill was reduced to about $440, but this was after I fought with the financial assistance department for about 2 months. Also, they told me I needed to see a gastroenterologist when I saw the doctor. I cancelled my appointment in June because I wanted to see somebody who I could afford outside of their network and a couple of weeks ago somebody called me asking if I wanted to come back. I think they have a problem with losing their patients because of their prices.

I ve been a patient here for five years. I have an extremely rare condition. So I suppose that makes my case a Zebra, lol. I see four different specialists and they each have treated me with dignity and respect. They do not always have all the answers. There is no perfect hospital on this planet. However National Jewish comes pretty close. I will continue to receive care here, even if I move to another state.

We recently took our 10 year old to NJH for their 2 week outpatient pediatric asthma treatment program. She has severe asthma which was not well controlled, and had missed 5+ weeks of school just before our visit (the 3rd winter of asthma related illness and lengthy school absences). I am beyond grateful for everything NJH did for our girl. She is free of her previous non-stop rescue meds and is doing beautifully. The program is rigorous and exhausting - physically, mentally, and emotionally - but well worth it as our daughter has her life back. Every single physician and nurse we had contact with was professional and kind - we knew they had our daughter's best interest at heart. The communication between doctors is phenomenal and we are immensely impressed with this fantastic health center. Changed our lives forever and we thank you.

This is a horrible hospital. My mom has been going here for 3.5 years and still no answers. They are very greedy and only care about money. For example my mom had a blood test done one week before her appointment and the dr wanted her to do the same exact test at her appointment. Her quality of life has deteriated and she cries every day for help and answers. They are horrible people who don't care about their patients. They recommend a team approach but now the pulmonoligist, rheumatologist, and infectious disease dr contradict each other. Inwould not recommended this hospital unless you want to watch your loved one go broke whole dying a horrible painful death.

Been working with NJH for over 5 years now. Some doctors are good and some are not, but that's to be expected anywhere. We are now working with a good doctor for COPD. However, NJH's system is HORRIBLE. They make it impossible to contact a doctor or nurse by phone. You can only leave a message and they frequently do not return their calls. This results in us having to drive there in person to speak with someone about issues which could be easily addressed with a 3 minute phone call. They have created a system for their convenience at the expense of their patients, insulating themselves from the inconvenience of the annoying patient.

Please don't go here, or send your family here. This is most disorganized hospital system I have ever had the nightmare of visiting. I cannot say enough great things about our Nationa...

I cannot say enough great things about our National Jewish Health experience.
1. We loved the systematic communication from start to finish. The patient services ladies (Taylor and Sarah) called me regularly with updates about insurance and information while my son was being sent for care. Once there, the team of doctors did a wonderful job of communicating with us daily about tests, procedures, clinical route, expected outcomes, etc. They all rounded daily, and we felt very confident in the cohesiveness of the team. The nursing staff in the pediatric unit itself was very friendly and accommodating as well.
2. The efficiency of this level of comprehensive care was extraordinary. They considered his clinical route before scheduling procedures. For example, my son had a GI study and a bone density test scheduled in the same day, but the bone density guy realized the tests were scheduled was backwards. He had to do the bone density test before the GI study so he could see what he needed to look at for it to be completed. He did them both first thing that morning which a) didn't delay either test as it would've otherwise and b) freed up the afternoon for us.
3. The child life department saved our sanity. It's hard to be away from home for so long, but the child life department made it bearable!!!!!

Ultimately, they found what they were looking for which was the answer to a puzzle that no specialist in Dallas could figure out. We were truly amazing and impressed at this level of care in action.

Overall a very poor experience. Charged me $1000s for unnecessary testing - all but the asthma test came back negative (as I predicted). I claimed I previously had asthma and doctor didn't believe me. Required 2 tests to prove - and lots of money. They did lots of other testing that proved nothing. Seems like they just like to collect money for further testing. Billing took 8 months to get an invoice. My acupuncturist did a better job at treatment.

I had developed a cough that had gotten so sever that when I would cough, I would throw up and urinate on myself. After 3 months I had become horse in my voice to the point I could hardly speak. My doctor was treating me for bronchitis....for 5 months I had been on antibiotics and steroids then inhalers. I had made visits to the health food store and bought vitimans ect., to the tune of $400 to get my immune system built up. My last visit to my dr., he spent all of 5 min with me and told me I didn t have an exclusive on having bronchitis the longest . I was beginning to think I might have cancer of some kind. At this point I made a call to National Jewish Health. I showed up and could had to strain to speak. Within 1 hour the dr. at National diagnosed me with acid reflux. The stomach acid has had damaged my esophagus to the point of loosing my voice....The following morning I took my first pill; at the end of two weeks my cough was gone; at the end of one month I have my voice back. Im so glad I took it upon myself to get further help. There is no telling where I would be had I not sought help outside my primary care physician. As far as I m concerned National Jewish Health is by far 5+ stars. I tell all my clients about National Jewish Health. My husband is now a patient of Jewish Health. I will shout it from the rooftops, 5 stars, 5 stars 5 stars!!!!!

Extremely disorganized. Good at scheduling but not sharing information within their own hospital. I have SEVERAL doctors here, as I grouped my care to one location. appointments are set months out even for very serious things. Went there just today and had a IV blood draw by Brad, who DID NOT use gloves or wash his hands and treated me like I was imposing upon him. I am a hard stick, so I was sent to his department. The phlebotomy unit is excellent though, they were courteous & kind. Dr. Kastsianok is my favorite because she is inquisitive and has an excellent bedside manner!

I will most likely DNR Brad's department completely. I also had a nurse named David from that unit that I nearly DNR'd on the spot due to his ignoring my informing his wheelchair ride had no leg backs and on every turn smacked my heels, hurting me. His response was, "Let me drive honey". In this Expert Reviewers opinion, the entire unit is dysfunctional and without good manners.

I brought my child here for 2 visits: a consultation and a food allergy test. Those two visits totaled just under $5,000 before insurance. I was in no way prepared for this type of expense. My expectations were never set in any way to expect a bill in the thousands of dollars (after insurance $2,400). Medical treatment at this facility is simply cost prohibitive for most families. Had I understood the costs, I would've sought out other options. I don't know how they can justify it.

I have had asthma for more than 55 years and it has been mostly well controlled for most of the time since the 80 s. I have had abnormally low FEV1 scores for the last 2.5 years and nebulizers don t help much. I traveled from the east coast to come here.

National Jewish determined that my asthma is well controlled but there are issues with my vocal cords and trachea that are blocking my airways.

Best of all, they identified non-surgical treatments that should improve my breathing.

Well worth the time and the cost.

The doctors and staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and caring. They take all the time you need and you never feel rushed.

I'd give this hellhole a zero if the option was there. Most unprofessional, uncompliant, and immoral group of medical staff I've ever met. All this place wants is the bucks. It all dates back to my hospitalization back in May which I was very fed up with the useless methods only creating more issues for me. As I said to male nurse or whatever this guy was that I was going to leave due to the annoyance despite it being against doctor advice, which was bs anyway as I figured out the issue myself even though I was hospitalized pointlessly, one male staff member claimed I'd be charged the bill rather than my insurance. Which was one of the grimiest lies I'd ever heard as my insurance covers anything and I was unaware of such a term at the time. And it doesn't end with this. Two weeks ago I was nearly hospitalized again from mold irritation causing lung inflammation. While the staff had seemed to improved some, their methods have seemingly not. I was prescribed prednisone, albuterol treatments, and advair HFA 230/21. Using that advair caused chest pain, tremors, aches and increased heart rate. I thought I was on verge of a heart attack. All I have to say now is that I'm done with this place. I find my asthma and other breathing issues to be worse when affiliating with this place. I recommend never, ever coming to this place to anyone reading.

NICE PEOPLE is the way we described National Jewish 15 years ago when Dale first went and met Dr. Henry Milgrom who put together a team of doctors who analyzed her condition and figured out that she had acid reflux, not asthma..........and changed her medications. NICE & SMART people given time to treat each patient like a person.

What a wonderful place. Dale has returned pretty much each year and our opinion of them just gets better.

National Jewish is a special place with a particularly kind culture.

This hospital LOVES to waste my time. I tried to make an appointment to see the allergist for my infant. First they told me I had to get my daughters records myself, even though each hospital I spoke to told me that National Jewish contacts them all the time for records for new patients. Next they made me schedule an appointment and wait 1.5 hours just to ask a few questions that could have been answered by a nurse over the phone in about 5 minutes. Then I had to schedule a follow up appointment, that no joke, required me to call FOUR times (each time waiting on hold for about 15 minutes)...I would get a voicemail from the doc to make an appt and then when I called the special scheduling phone number nobody had any idea about what type of appointment my daughter needed and they told me they couldn't do anything without some sort of "order" the doc was supposed to submit into my daughters file. A hospital this large needs to have better processes in place, I, like millions of other parents, work M-F full time, when I make a doc appt for my child it requires jumping through a few hoops to adjust my work and childcare schedule - please respect my time, the same way you ask us to respect the time of your staff...don't make me come in for useless appointments that could have been phone calls and find a way to improve your scheduling process
