I moved to Tampa with intentions of going to this school. When I explained why I wasnt comfortable with applying, I was hung up on by Dawn.
Financial aid wanted to do some unethical things when speaking to the advisor. Lie/withhold information on my financial aid application. I would recommend going here with someone in a background in financial aid rather than speaking to these Sales People.
I am so happy I stuck with my gut feeling because as soon as I told Dawn that I was asked to commit fraud on my federal aid and that rubbed me wrong she HUNG UP on me.

I started in February of 2014. I had a great time and experience. I graduated 6 months later. 6 years later I'm working as a maintenance vendor rep. Making grat money. I thank everyone at NAA For the support. If you're thinking about this school I definitely recommend NAA.
This school is constantly changing their policies and although we have a student council, they arent the voice of the of majority of the school. The fact is that the local area is saturated with people looking for jobs and living situations so odds are you wont find those near the school. One of their recent changes in policy incorporated that you can no longer make up classroom hours on the weekend, which impacts the whole "working class student". Now the night class (who work days) and day class (that work nights) portion of the school has no way to make up hours for class except to take off work.. so before you come here for classes ask yourself can you make it to school on time and if you miss an hour can you take off work early or stay late enough to accommodate a 7 hour school day. If not then find a different way to get an A&P license.
As a current student do not waste your money getting an education here. They fill you with lies and empty promises then do nothing to help you reach your goal. The upper staff threatens people and there is a alot of hazing going on by them. You are better off pursuing a career in McDonalds.
I graduated from NAA in July 2018. The school follows the requirements of the FAA to ensure students are eligible to test and receive their licenses as soon as possible. The basic requirement to work on aircraft is an airframe and/or powerplant license. The licenses together require 2000 hours of education as well as hands on and written tests. NAA gives the students the opportunity to accomplish this in 14 months by attending 8 hour classes five days a week. There is no faster way to obtain the A&P licenses legally. The instructors at NAA are the foundation that make it so successful. If I ever had an issue understanding concepts of engines, trouble studying for tests or basic electrical math questions, every instructor was willing to take their lunch or even stay after school on their personal time to ensure I understood the material. Overall I'm very satisfied with the school and getting my licenses has been one of the best decisions I've made.
Not such thing of PPI everyone will know your business alot of hazzing allowed in the classes and if you want to handle it like grown ups the instructors will not say anything I'm currently going to the school more updates to come
National aviation Academy was the smartest decision I've ever made in my life. From the moment I talked to the recruiter, I knew this was the career I was looking for. National aviation Academy was overall a great experience for me, from the instructors on night shift to the staff. If you show commitment from day one and set it as your goal to get your A&P now matter what comes your way, the instructors, will see that commitment and they will help you with what ever you need, from extra help to understand the material, to giving you career advice. And I had signed an offer from a company 4 months before I was done with school because I already had all my licenses, so if you have doubts about not getting a job after you have your license, this career field is always looking for people, And same goes for the staff like career services, financial aid, and especially amber teeple, anything I ever needed she would help me with, she even sat down with me one day and helped me fill out an application to a job because I was nervous and kept messing up the application. So she took time out of her busy day to write if for me, She was there for me not only as a staff member of NAA but as a friend. NAA will always be like another home for me. If I could go back and do it all again, I would in a heartbeat.
If you really want to work in aviation and love it, this is the place to go. Hands down the best. The instructors are great. If you pay attention no matter how small and not important you think something is, you will see it again and it will make life easier. They cover a lot to get you started. I walked into this school never having touched anything mechanical in my life. Now, a year and half later I've been hired by a major airline. Not the regionals either. All the guys I work with have 10+ years. They don't believe I'm only a year and a half in. All because I paid attention and followed the plan NAA set up for me. People complained about rules. Well, walk into your job late and see what happens. This school is for any and everyone that really wants a job in aviation. And that loves aviation. The staff really cares about teaching and passing along their knowledge. I'm truly thankful for them. I wouldn't be doing what I love if it wasn't for the staff and NAA.
I obviously don't go to this school but my grandson is graduating and got a great job starting next month. School is school. Hard work and positive attitude. You either got the smarts and hard work attitude or you don't. All these hazing remarks can be avoided by your hard work and positive attitude. This isn't rich kids college it's the real world. Thank you NAA you are the best
The staff at this school is amazing, no matter what problem I ran into they were always willing to give me advice or assistance. Now anyone reading this should be aware that this school will not be easy. Although if you are willing to get through the work and put your time in this experience can be very rewarding.
4 years ago I came to Clearwater for an education. I left national aviation academy with more than that I left with a career. I've worked for top notch companies since I have left and I'm not letting up. The staff is very organized and only growing stronger day by day. The negative Nancy's that have left reviews are those who didnt finish and get their TICKETS!!! Take a chance on your life and become an aircraft mechanic, best decison I ever made for myself.
I've had the opportunity to work along side three NAA students who would either change into uniform leaving work or coming to work. It's hard to hold a full time job down while going to school full time, but they were determined and had goals. All completed NAA successfully with there A & P, which we celebrated for them at work as they left for their new careers in aviation.
National aviation academy changed my life, I can't speak highly enough about the professionalism of this school. The instructors are top notch and the front staff is amazing they were always helpful, career services goes above and beyond to help you find a job. With all that said you can always find something negative to say and when I was a student there was always people talking negatively,. Just do your job study and actually apply yourself and you will pass your tests and find a good job. Just remember the teachers can only do so much and getting through this program ultimately lies on you.
The National Aviation Academy does not, in anyway support the #Military or #Veterans unless it benefits the NAA in some way shape or form. I am a 14 year Army Veteran, with over 56 months of combat deployments and 100% service connected disabled.
I attend the NAA for 3 months and realized the truth about the organization and was thinking about changing my career path. The NAA threatened me with an almost $8,000 bill if I were to leave. This was just last month.
I am currently a student at a college in the Tampa area. The NAA stayed true to there threats and gave me an over $7,500 bill. After contacting the U.S. Department of Education U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and multiply other federal, state, and local governments/agencies the NAA just yesterday sent me an email saying they would wave half of the bill...... Something seems odd here. How is it possible that the NAA can charge a Veteran over $7,500 who is using there GI bill to pay 100% of their schooling just because they wanted to change their career path after only 3 months into an over a year long program?
They are exploiting veterans, the GI bill, federal funds, and tax payers. I am a vet who fought multiple wars for this country, I was wounded multiple times on multiple levels, I am 100% service connected disabled and I came home to Florida hoping to start a new life for my family and I. I took a chance with the NAA because they seemed to care about their purpose and about vets. I soon realized this was all a show. After my first day in class of over 60 students!!! Crammed in one room with some having to stand until they could find extra chairs. After weeks and weeks of spending 7 hours of my day in the class and of that on average 3 of those hours were accounted for as actual instructor lead teaching/projects/training in general. At one point I spent two days documenting these finding and when I took them to the student services department I was strongly encouraged to not do anything with my findings and that they would deduct time that I had missed for VA appointments. Operation: Military Matters and Central Pinellas Chamber of Commerce this is not an attempt to smear the NAA as a whole, there are wonderful instructors that truly love what they do and try their best under the circumstances. I do not have $7,500 to give away. Under advisement I declined their deal yesterday. Also under advisement, I requested a breakdown of all the charges and their expectations why they are being billed to me. I was denied that request by their collections department and was told to contact their counsel and was given a 1-800 number.....
Really good for head-knowledge in how aviation mechanics work, even for someone like me with no prior mechanical experience. Very little opportunity for hands-on experience though. Really expensive either way; however, their career department will do everything in their power to get you the best job possible after completing the program.
I look at it this way, if your students and instructors don't even know how to drive properly I really wouldn't trust them with the ability to know how to work on these aircrafts. All they want is a loan and that's it it's going to be a lot of s*** to f****** pay off in the end so this place is b*******
My experience at NAA was exceptional. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable and dedicated to our understanding of the material. Staff was attentive and helpful, and their promise to help me secure gainful and rewarding employment in the industry was more than fulfilled. For anyone serious about making aviation a career, I could not recommend NAA more highly.
I just finished the program and I have to say that overall it got me exactly what I paid for. I met very knowledgeable people that worked in the industry that guided me to where I wanted to go and I have an A&P License as the result (and a job).
Sure the school has its problems (like all schools do) but they do fix them over time. Like security for example, a couple students have gotten into fights before (only twice in the 21 months I was there) but that has been fixed. They have security (very nice and professional guys) there for day and night terms to help ensure student safety. As well as a sheriff remote station in the works.
This program isn't for everyone, you will be challenged and you will be highly stressed out at times, but if you are truly committed to finishing the program then you will get the help you need to do so. Do your research ahead of time and see if being an A&P Mechanic is the kind of career for you.
I graduated this school in 2010 with more than enough knowledge and practical training not only for the career field it pertains to, but so many others like the Auto, Manufacturing in general, Wind-turbine and even Computer sciences. After having graduated with Airframe and Powerplant ratings accredited by the FEDERAL AVIATION ADMIN, I had no problem with finding an occupation. In fact, I am in my 20's and ultimately have worked for two of the worlds leading commercial airliners. My tuition was around 30,000, a little costly for me too, at the time in 2009. But I leave you all with THREE FACTS, over the years NAA has exponentially increased the cost of tuition while at the same time the marketability of me being an Aircraft Technician has maintained - Their are other aviation institutions around the U.S. which may be more or less of an investment financially, but all deviate in quality.- MONEY IS TO BE MADE IN AVIATION. baby steps
If I could give -5* I would. The only people that seem helpful are the wonderful ladies in the office and the director and wonderful teachers they fired. I guess if you're a pompous a**, you keep your job . The classless upper management are pompous and arrogant.
My Son was assaulted 2 times in that place and the upper management did nothing to protect him. This last time someone left hand marks on his neck. I never thought that the $35,000 we are spending for that school would be the worst mistake I could make.
The grown "men" that attend this school act like children on steroids. I'm not surprised considering that is the way upper management acts as well!
The instructional staff is comparable to none other. In first term Glenn provides a foundation of professionalism, and basic general knowledge that applies to the rest of the program and requirements for obtaining the A&P. In second term there are two instructors who absolutely compliment each other Roy, and Nelson. Roy is an absolute subject matter expert with reciprocating engines and what GA life could be like should we choose that path. He also shares a pure passion for aviation with the students that is inspiring and also makes it easy to learn. Nelson is an absolute professional who is by the book and you can always count on him for integrity and to show you the only right way, and appropriate procedure to get something done. Third term I met Kent, and Bobby. Kent was very talented at taking complicated subject matter and breaking it down so it was easy to understand, there were times in Kent's class where I didn't even realize I was learning only to ace a test down the road. Bobby also provided good insight as to what life in the GA world would be like. 4th term is a subject that is also full of a lot of information, and was lead by Nate, and Justin. I jokingly refer to Nate to the newer students as the turbine wizard but, that is not a joke. The entire time I studied under Nate I was nothing but Impressed with the massive amount of knowledge and experience he has. I also appreciate his desire to uphold a high standard, and integrity. Justin shares that desire of a high standard and integrity, and truly cares about his students. He also has a lot of insight as to what the profession would be like in a more commercial environment, and is a very diligent individual. In 5th term Chris is takes the vast amount of knowledge he has and passes it on to the student with ease, while making a fun but professional environment. Tim always had a good answer to any question I asked. During my short stay in 7th term I met Jesse and Bert who are also 2 instructors that compliment each other. They are both subject matter experts and are very diligent when trying to get students to under stand the material. I would also like to say that when I was eligible to take each FAA written exam and oral and practical's I was absolutely prepared. This is credited to the elite instructional staff, and the projects that mirrored the practical exams. Finally career services is unmatched Marylou, and Lisa are the absolute best at what they do and are truly amazing.
The National Aviation Academy Located In The Tampa Bay Area Has Some Of The Most Exceptional Aviation Instructors That I've Ever Had The Chance To Work With. Every Instructor Is Eager To Convey The Knowledge & Skills Needed, In Order To Assist Students Of All Ages To Obtain Their Goal Of Becoming Aviation Maintenece Professionals In Addition, The Administration Staff & The Support Staff Are Extremely Helpful;Understanding; Supportive; & Always Eager To Assist Students With Whatever Their Needs May Be In Order To Attain The Ultimate Goal Of: One Day Having A Career Within The Aviation Community. Without These Special People, & The State Of The Art Learning Tools They Provide Us, Learning Could Be Extremely Difficult! Thanks To All The Faculty & Staff For All That You Do For Us
School is great, staff and instructors are amazing. Everyone really goes out of there way to help you and make sure you complete and leave with an A&P. Love the hands on experience. And learned so much as a student here. If you want to change your life and become a professional in 14 months this is the place to go.
This school is a joke, and a complete scam. They advertise it as a hands on school but there is very minimal hands on training. It is all mostly book work. The lectures consist of Instructors just mindlessly reading from an outdated power point presentation. It is completely self taught, you do an hours worth of work and sit there for the rest of the 6 hours you are there. For a 35k tuition you would expect an organized curriculum that's up to date, instructors that actually Want to teach, and some actual hands on training on equipment that isn't completely outdated. You get none of that here, take your money elsewhere people.
Great school. Great place of knowledge to see things for what they are in multi ways if you have the least bit of attention span . Avionics gets you in the cockpit and understanding all the buttons and stuff, if not taken expect to clean the bathrooms . Just saying.
For-profit school! So profit first and the only thing this so called academy cares about. This business is a mess. From the administration to the classroom, there is no kind of organizations. Course material is outdated with substandard instructors teaching a class of 60 students to 1 instructors. There is no control of the class and is impossible to study with 60 plus people trying talk over each other and the fights in class between students, place is a joke. Administration does nothing to fix any issues. Do not waste your time and money here. Vets, take your hard earned GI bill money somewhere else.
Great school for international students that just need the FAA certification to transfer in their country. The staff are friendly and willing to help you get through the 14 mouths course. They have the best price for the level of education you are receiving and the materials they give you to receive your verification. I had a great experience at the school.
I graduated from this school last month. I am one month away from my interview for both airframe and powerplant. I absolutely love this school. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable in their field and can work with you when you are have emergencies and have to make up time. I will say this though. First month of school will be a difficult one for those who are unfamiliar with electricity. The school needs to have someone proficient in avionics or just a teacher just to teach the theory. The tutors that help with this subject are run by the student council, NOT BY THE FACULTY, which needs to be addressed.Other than that, great school.
Terrible place to take your written instrument test. Basic procedures like payment and checking in are so screwed up that by the time you are finally checked in, you are so stressed out that you dread taking the test!
Lot of salt in here on these reviews... while my opinion on the the administration has been positive and negative, the instructors did a good to excellent job preparing me for my orals and practicals. Because of that and my own study habits, I passed my FAA writtens and earned my A&P as soon as possible. Blaming the school for out of date curriculum is unfair, since the curriculum is mandated and managed by the FAA... School is for profit... still earned my licenses and I am on the verge of a promising career. It's easy to come on here and blame an institution... a lot harder to take responsibility for ones own failings. I would recommend NAA as a route to earning an A&P.
This school produces very high quality students. I have heard nothing but good things from the managers who the technicians report to that we have selected from NAA. I have had remarkable experiences with the students and staff each time I visit for interview sessions and career fairs. Each visit we end up hiring 8-10 students, which is not the norm for other school visits, I attribute this in large part to the quality of training they are provided. Students are taught specific skills that set them apart from other A&P schools/academies such as troubleshooting skills, interviewing skills, and guidance with resumes and professionalism. This sets them up for success in their careers and makes the program far above average. NAA produces professional mechanics, that is the number one reason why you will see so many employers who are looking to hire from the school at their career fairs, visiting to give presentations, and host interview sessions throughout the year.
I'm in school as of this review--about 6 months in. I went to the New England school, and now in Florida. I I have to say that it's a great place to learn what you need to know about aircraft (much better than college) and that it all depends on the instructor. The instructor you get can be the reason between the thinking of "this school sucks" and "I love what I'm doing." And then the material and its presentation can have a similar effect. For example, some books are wrong, but instructors quickly remedy that with their knowledge. In addition, I don't understand why people give this school such a low rating on here. This school tries to work with its students as much as it can, and they're not all about money as some people have said. I have not regretted doing this at all. Is the school perfect? Far from it, but does it deserve a terrible rating for trying its best? I don't think so; there's clearly effort put into this. Anyway, some instructors teach not-so-well (as I said, it depends--I've had some really good instructors and others that aren't), even if they know their material well; your learning will be highly dependent on the instructor. I personally had (so far) some of the best, most caring instructors who have shown me what I need to know. I'm a little disappointed about the instruction at the Florida's branch; it seems way too 'lax' compared to New England's branch (they seem a bit more serious there). Another excellent thing about both schools (if you get a good instructor, too) is that instructors are generally willing to explain, willing to answer questions, and willing to work with you to make sure you get through it all and out there to work on aircraft. I don't really have anything bad to say other than that; if you do the work you're supposed to (and believe me, it's not THAT much), work with your classmates as a team, you'll be fine (and you should study to pass your tests, no doubt about that). Oh, and would I recommend this school to anyone else? Absolutely. I think NAA does it right.
They allow their students to cheat FAA exams by finding all the answers online just for memorization. Vote of no confidence here for the people who will be fixing and operating aircraft's. This is dangerous.
School is a big scam and ripoff. The tuition is $35,500 for the basic A&P license and you do little hands on training. They don't wanna tell you that you can get the A&P license without even going to school period. You are pretty much just paying $35,500 for a lame 14 month study session big waste of money and time they have books you can buy to study for the FAA General, Powerplant, and Airframe tests!!! As far as hands on it is easy and there are several videos on YouTube to show how easy it is!!! Don't cum inside of the school and make the biggest financial mistake of your life. I literally quit this school the 2nd day before they actually charged me for it. And I would have a full ride with my GI Bill from the military. They are very good at selling the school because it's what they do and they want your money. All the good jobs are way cross country and if you really wanna do that you can buy study books on Amazon and do the FAA tests without these con artists!!! My friend goes to this school and is almost halfway done and says there is very little hands on and it's just one big study session for nothing.
Great School. I have have hired 5 A&P mechanics from National Aviation Academy. All of the mechanics we hired are top notch aviation professionals. The school dose a great job of preparing the students for a successful career in aviation.
Veterans please stay away from this school. Although the VA covers your tuition if you leave any time before the program ends NAA will claim that you owe thousands. At no point will this fact ever disclosed to you beforehand. The program in general was far below any expectation that I had. In the classrooms the teacher to student ratio is quite ridiculous 60+ students to 1 Teacher. Any given day it was as loud as a football stadium and genuine assistance is unlikely. If you have questions you will be told to ask your Group Leader (Another Paying Student). Death By Powerpoint lectures, outdated non airworthy aircraft in the sweltering heat of the hangar and U-Tube videos will be the foundation of learning. Very minimally was there hands on training, if ever. I could go on and on but I think You've got the gist. Please take your hard earned money and go elsewhere. - Nikita Boles
Don t t go there they lie. They won t except you. They say they will call you back but don t fake.I would never recommend this school to anyone.Im going to post it all over about this school is a joke
We have been hiring NAA Grads from both their Clearwater and Boston campus and found that the A&P's have been the best of the best. The instructors, faculty, staff, and their career services department has been top notch, and we couldn't be any more excited about our relationship with NAA and look forward to hiring NAA Grads for many years to come!
Darrel Stern Manager, Talent Acquisition, North America Embraer North America
Instructors are incredible!!! Everyone behind the scenes are also absolutely amazing! Everyone from career services to financial aid and student services are all very caring people that really just want to help you in every way they can! Best experience I ve had with any school. Proud to be an NAA Alumni!!! And one more thing, if you went to this school and didn t put forth the effort and just slummed your way through and didn t get your A&P or couldn t get a job when you graduated, it s your fault, stop blaming the school. I know so many people that got their A&P and great jobs and all they did was show up, put forth the effort, studied and payed attention. It s no the schools fault that you didn t care enough to try.
All they want is your money you will never know what that money gets spent on because you never get new equipment pretty sure the school is in mass debt and using us to pay for it it's that or there pocketing everything.
School Does not follow FAA guidelines for Student to teacher Ratios, Syllabus school Material does not reflect FAA testing. Having a 98% GPA in school material does not Prepare you to pass the FAA tests. Naa Massachusetts location rely on imaginative Projects as most of the tools and hardware are Broken. Financial assistance Repeatedly recommends student get more Loans and grants but will not Disperse the amounts until 8 months after receiving. When you ask for assistance they refer you to family or Private banks rather than give you the student loan/grants you applied and they received. Ask any student if they would recommend this course and they will all say NO!! AVOID NAA LIKE the plague.
I graduated with honors at naa 18 months ago and still WITHOUT a job unless i want to move out of the tampa bay area where I live for $16-23 Hour. If they told me I had to move, I would NOT have sign up. They will let anyone in this school for $36,000. This shool is hard with test after test and final test with a 90% to graduate.
The school and the instructors were alright, but the Snap On Representative, Jimmie Padgett is a JOKE! I graduated 6 months ago and never received all of my tools!! I have called, emailed, text, and done my part to get what I needed to be done, and I still didn't get all of my $2500+ tools in. The school voucher means nothing if I don't get my tools in, plus had to pay $1000 out of pocket for the rest. I'm not the only student that this happened to. I hope NAA sees this, and removes their selected Snap On Rep.
NAA is a good school. You'll learn a lot from the instructors. There are a lot of tests, but it's nothing too hard. Study is key!
I had a great experience on NAA,for me is one of the best schools.I will say 99 % of the instructor and employees will help u out to reach out ur goals but is all up to u any way ,keep all ur finances up to speed so u don't get any surprises not a perfect place but there is not such a thing regardless where u go.Mary lou will do the best she can to get u job if u are SERIOUS ABOUT IT...and I can tell u that if u are serious u will leave with all u ratings. But now my question is........if u don't like aviation or working on engines what are u looking for in an aviation school?? Chances are that u gonna hate it and most likely and leave a negative review or some like that, listen DONT WAISTE UR TIME OTHERS PEOPLE TIME AND/OR UR MONEY WON'T WORK. Is a great school and if u are looking for to be Serious and get all your rating Quick and getting help to get a job this is the place to go.
NAA has some of the most talented students that we have ever seen. We've hired quiet a few NAA graduates and we've been impressed with both their professionalism and knowledge of the A&P. I have nothing but good words for this school. Both of the facilities that we have visted, Clearwater, FL and Concord, MA, are top notch. I highly recommend going to get an A&P for this school.
We needed assistance today getting a form for tax purposes. We had a wrong name /password you name it ! Amber came through like a champ! My accountant is very happy, as is Kenny!
Really good instructors, staff, and faculty that really help you get a career and a job after graduating and one of the quickest and fastest programs to get a career.Def not a scam school and worth everything once u buy into the program and actually strive to do better with yourself.
