Bar 163 was my faithful haunt throughout my undergraduate degree if I was exercise to treat myself to a fancy lunch or dinner. It's a cozy, charming place and the staff were always really lovely, and I whiled away many hours there reading when I should probably have been sat at a computer in the library. I haven't had much experience of the rest of the menu because the goat's cheese salad was the star of the show every time. Pairs perfectly with a bowl of delicious chips and a pint to negate any sense whatsoever that this is a healthy option. It's still the best salad I've ever had, which might not sound like an accolade but it's stood out to me ever since I first finished off someone else's and was instantly converted.

We love bar 163! We're in a long term relationship that has flourished on tasty and reliable bistro dishes, good value wine by the glass or bottle and cosy yet stylish Boho interior garden dining in the summer, wood burner in the winter. Nice stop for coffee in the morning too.

I first went to Bar 163 back in the late 80's in it's first week of opening and have been there many times over the years and now even come from Ealing to eat there. In all those years the service has been outstanding always friendly and the staff treat you like you're the only customer there even when busy. The food had always been excellent. I can't recommend Bar 163 enough. Keep it up guys

Bizarrely pretentious for its location. Doesn't have the same open, welcoming feel you will get in other places in Egham.
I've only eaten there once, but I have tried to give it the benefit of the doubt & gone in on 3 occasions.
My first visit was with my partner. We took a seat and told the wait staff we were waiting for another couple. They were running late but we were not there for more than 20 minutes. We were told we would need to order or leave, there were only 2 other tables in use at the time.
The second time, again myself and my partner, we were the only people there. I ordered fresh squeezed orange juice but was brought juice from a carton by the bar tender, when I asked if it was fresh squeezed he told me I should have specified that's what I wanted when ordering, took it back & then brought the glass of fresh squeezed without saying a word. The food was lovely though and reasonably priced.
The third, and last time, we were out for the day in Egham & decided to go in for lunch. We had already been to Costa and had our coffees with us. Although I also ordered a drink, we were told we couldn't bring drinks in with us as "the manager wouldn't like it if he came in". We were the only people there again, we were astounded, to be chastised in an empty restaurant!! We canceled our order and went elsewhere.

A nice and cosy place. The front room offers a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Unfortunately the back room is more simple and rather cramped for space. The menu has something for most people, and the two dishes I've tried have been good. Worth to note that there are no high chairs, but children are welcome.

Lovely romantic ambiance, wooden floors lots of candles & mood lighting. Had cheesy garlic bread to start & steak for my main. Garlic bread is a large 4 slice portion, was dripping in garlic butter & very tasty. Sirloin steak was cooked perfectly. Large portions. Have outside area in front on main street as well as outside area out back. Definitely reccomend

Lovely relaxed atmosphere, pleasant service. Food was excellent. The fry up "big breakfast" had been made with care and attention to every element, presented nicely and taste was amazing. High quality ingredients were evident. Coffee was good too. Prices on par with quality, venue and service but not overpriced. Would definitely go again, perhaps for an evening meal given good experience with breakfast.

I celebrated my 30th birthday here and used the area upstairs exclusively. I wanted an event that was not just a dinner party and had arranged a cocktail dinner evening - Jane was excellent when discussing plans to suggest a table set up that would allow people to mingle between courses. When I arrived to set up on Saturday afternoon, the room had been beautifully prepared and Izzy was absolutely fabulous the whole night, sorting anything that was needed. The whole team worked so hard and I had an amazing night - everyone was saying how beautiful the venue was and how good the food was. The perfect birthday experience. Thank you team 163!!!

This restaurant is brilliant. Great, polite and quick service and the food is amazing. There used to be a restaurant in Chertsey and when that closed I was devastated because the food is amazing. Last night I went and I met the Head Chef of the Chertsey restaurant and he was amazingly friendly and was definitely not lying when he recommended certain dishes. Mimo is ACE and an amazing chef.

Warm, welcoming, unique & great attention to detail. Friendly personable staff, who know the menu which is simple but to the point well executed and fairly priced. Brilliant spot for breakfast and brunch, to sit and read the papers. Lucky to have this as a local. Keep up the great work!

Have been visiting this place for years. It's the best place in Egham for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Fantastic coffee. Small but perfect seasonal menu, all homemade. Daily specials. They're doing something right as they've been there for 30 plus years. Great wine selection and interesting cocktails. Not very kid friendly. Gorgeous secret garden. Private hire available upstairs too.

Croque Madame and a Bloody Mary for a cosy brunch is a must have. Very polite, cheerful and thorough service from all the waitresses on a rainy and sad-looking Saturday. Highly recommended, great experience!

In Egham, if you know Egham, an institution like Bar 163 is a surprise. A pleasant one.
We live a street away and since we moved here a year ago, Egham though nice has been a quiet and settled life. Bar 163 was seen but never ventured in till now but not regretting now as we finally did walk in this week and had a most excellent discovery, that they do fabulously amazing food!!
The service was excitable and though she did forget my Peronni I didn't mind the him and tonic after all
But it was the food that stood out all the way, we ordered a cod loin , pan fried with skin on and with a pea and bacon sauce, which was outstanding. The fish was extremely fresh, perfectly cooked and absolutely sang a ballad of love with the mashed peas and bacon bits. The wife got a Moroccan chicken which was excellent as well, and the sauce was beautifully scented and fragrant. Even more incredible were the desserts and the Creme brulee was one of the finest I ever had. All in all a pleasent service, great food and an ambience to enjoy the quiet little evening that is an Egham speciality.

Very reluctant to eat here again, the food simply did not deliver on flavour, quality of ingredients, cooking preferences and value for money. It is a pity as the setting and service are excellent.

AVOID the dinner
This placed was once a great place
This place is definitely not what is used to be
One of the worst meals I've ever had in this area, The food on my plate was a disgrace
and bar 163 I will not be coming back.

OWNER I will elaborate, you are using the same hot plate/Grill for the meat and fish. My beef burger tasted of fish so I opened it up to check if there was any fish in the beef burger, There wasn't but there was an oversized dead bluebottle inbetween the cheese and beef. So I asked the kind waitress to take It back. Chef said he would make me a new one. The new BEEF BURGER tasted of mackerel and beef wasn't cooked. Then the chef told the waitress that he took up all the normal procedures to make the beef burger and that he doesn't know why it tasted of fish. Both beef burgers smelt like a bowl of mussels. I ordered beef and it tasted of strong oily fish. the burger wasn't the only bit of food what wasn't up to standard but I'm only commenting on the burger as I wasn't eating the other meals that were ordered by the group I was with.

So the food was the problem nothing else. I've had better food at a Wetherspoons
I could tell the chef had left by the standard of the food.
This Is clearly not a "one off"...Your chef has left....And there is a 2 star review from 4 weeks ago.
the food that one of your chefs made for me was embarrasing.

I dont know how a chef could make this mistake.

The fish somehow crossed over to the beef somehow,
but that's what you will have to find out from your beloved chefs
also in my opinion the strange taste of fish in the beef could of been, the meat being off and out of date
