Way bigger than expected. Come here on rainy days to avoid crowds.
One of the most beautiful places I've ever been, and definitely most beautiful thing I've seen in Eastern Europe. A must stop for people driving through to the coast.
Great nature, but massive tourists invasion, selfie sticks everywhere.
Peaceful relaxing scenery. Guides on the various walks would help and more information about the lakes rather than just selling maps would be very helpful.
Beautiful place! The adult ticket is 150 Kuna, it's a 100 for students. The ticket lets you get on a bus or a boat inside the park. It's flat, so walking is not strenuous at all! Totally worth visiting the park
We landed on a cloudy day in October. We booked our tickets in advance that saved us the trouble of standing in a line. A word of advice: get there as early as you can. We parked at Entrance 1 and then began our walk. The cost of the ferry and bus is included in the entrance ticket (one ride only).
The lakes themselves were beautiful! We got the fall colors and the Serene lakes during our visit. Despite the weather, there were enough people. I would recommend taking the route K. It covers the entire beauty of the park. Please carry enough food and water. The trip took us about 5-6 hours.
Just see photographs and you will know why this is 5* place.
This has to be one of the most stunning places in Croatia, and that a bold statement, never have I been so gobsmacked about something so naturally beautiful. Me and my mate are super stingy so we didn t buy a ticket which means you can t catch the ferry which meant we walked about 22kms to save 10 euro. Yolo. Champagne diet traveler budget
Visited last summer.Very very very beautiful place. Please take time to visit this place. I would say at least 06hrs needed to visit properly. Also enter through gate 02. It will save your time.
Stunning place. Absolutely must have for every tourist in Croatia. The nature at its best to get. Water is turquoise, grass is green, air is fresh. Like in the fairytale. You can select between several routes. If you have enough time, than choose the longest one. It deserves all the walk .
A very nice place for walking trails in the shadow of beautiful waterfalls We were in early June and the weather was excellent ...
Very spectacular park, scenery and clear lakes. The walk around the lakes even on the longest route is quite enjoyable and spectacular.
An incredibly beautiful place. You should have seen that when you are in Croatia
It's was very nice. Beautiful water, waterfalls and pathways.
However, on some spots it's fully unclear which way to walk to follow your walking route (we chose C).
Also, on the parking lot it's not clear which way to go to reach the exit.
Would recommend, but keep in mind you might get lost.
Really beautiful. Impressive nature and waterfalls. It's very touristic but the park is big enough to handle
A must do i am still amazed. In summer i would advise to arrive around 4 as most of the people are leaving around 5.. (if you do the 4h walk)
Probably one of the most beautiful nature landscapes that I've ever seen.
Absolutely stunning location. Couldn't believe the number of waterfalls. Terrific value for money too
Worth every cent. If your are staying at one of the national park hotels, your can extend your entrance ticket by 1 day for free. If you are arriving late, check with the hotel about the entrance ticket. We overheard some staff telling other guest that there is a discounted rate after certain timing and if you are staying at the hotel you can extend it for the next day which will save money.
Very cool and beautiful place! Abit busy and a tad pricey but a great place to visit overall!
Simply superb. Easy and ample parking. We were lucky enough to get on spot tickets, which otherwise is quite rare. Try gate 2 for spot tickets and reach by 9 am to ensure you get entry.
Lovely! Lots of very clean and transparent lakes and waterfalls.
They provide sufficient guidance to always find your way and have a good time.
Although it was very crowded, not bothering much.
Detailed review :, Amazing park with several waterfalls and natural beauty. This park is a unesco heritage park and is almost 225km from Split. It is a day tour from there. You need to purchase a ticket to get into the park and after that it is majorly by walk that you cover the park. Park is divided in 3 main sections. There is a lake in middle from where you can take ferry between these sections. Sections are also connected by buses which run every 30 mins or so.
This park is a absolutely stunning. I've never seen so many waterfalls, emerald green water, and perfect landscapes before in my life. If you love ecotourism, this place is for you.
Unbelievable UNESCO heritage place, with hundreds waterfalls. Great for hiking or relaxing walk. Admission quite expensive during summer holidays, worth to visit.
Beautiful, but the level of overcrowding and monetisation somewhat detracts from the natural wonder.
Plitvice Lakes National Park is a must visit national park in Croatia. It is located between Split town and Zagreb city. The public transportation is slightly difficult to Plitvice as it will stop at a normal bus stop by the roadside as compared to a bus station.
Note that the ticket counter/entrance and the online ticket redemption counter are located at different buildings. Do proceed do the other counter to redeem your online tickets before entering Plitvice.
There is a luggage storage area, which is free-of-charge and is located near the entrance. Please store your food stuff as there are rodents or small animals that would come and chew your food left in the storage.
We took the C route in the Plitvice lake that starts off from the entrance 1 and back to entrance 1 via the train which runs within the compound. It is recommended to bring umbrella or poncho when it is raining because there are not much shade within the national park. There is a big waterfall located near entrance 1. The routes around the park are literally built of woods, which are narrow (about 2 persons back and forth) and would be slightly slippery when raining. The routes are not friendly for wheelchair or stroller. Also do properly plan out for the boat trips which are scheduled at every 30mins.
We did trail "F" (to the big waterfall) and yes it was fabulous even on a cloudy day but unfortunately I felt we did not get to see the main attractions as in photos. I was a little disappointed. I wouldn't recommend trail "F".
I do think it would be 100 times nicer on a blue sky day also.
Nature at its finest. Wear good shoes and enjoy the walk, must do the boat cruise.
Despite A LOT of tourists it's a great place to visit!
One of the best nacional park in croatia, pure nature, clear water, untouched nature, such beauty.
For some reason the trees smelled off. Like i don't know something was way off. I don't know if i was going crazy or something. The trees smelt fishy honestly ruined my visit. Please fix this soon will not come back until this problem is fixed. Picture is a pic of my pet fish Thomas (rest in peace).
One of the most beautiful location from Europe, everything is very well maintained by the people that take care of this place. I also recommend the accommodation to Apartments Villa Irene that is very close to the lakes.
Amazing experience of lifetime. All the pics on internet are real. It is really green n crystal clear.. Super beautiful.
Pure nature and beauty, waterfalls, lake, it is protected area. Ticket is little bit hier but it is worth it. Ticket includes everythin boat ride, or train ride. If you go alone and dont have so much time point map 3 with bus and than go by walk is ok. But any route you choose you will enyoj.
Writing from the perspective of a foreign tourist in peak summer season, this is the most over rated commercial pit you can ever fall into. If you think this is just a regular park you can waltz into for a day walk without much planning, then be prepared for disappointment. The park opens at 7am and the snaking queue for the ticket counter starts to form. The earliest bus arrives at 8am. By then, the earliest available ticket entrance to the park will be from 11am to 12pm. You literally witness hundreds of people in tour groups sneaking ahead of you through the entrance as you wait in a line which doesn t move. Advice to avoid the crowd and lines would be:
1) Buy entrance ticket in advance. The latest you can purchase a ticket is 2 days prior to park entry
2) come after 1pm, the crowd starts to tone down
3) come with a tour group, this is not a park to be tight about
Hope you enjoy your experience in the park and not spend 4 hours outside waiting out of my 8 hours in Plitvice.
Amazing waterfalls and seas. Good organization and personnel in the park.
Beautiful place! Really astonishing, unfortunately many tourists but what can you do..
Well organized with trains and boats connecting to checkpoints/entrances.
This was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. This is a must-see location if you are anywhere in the area.
Beautiful and photographic but far too crowded and that's in the shoulder season
A wonderfull place to visit. The waterfalls are amazing. We'll definitely come back again.
Our guide, Katharina, was fantastic. The park is well kept and stunningly beautiful. The upper part of the park was our favourite because there were so much less people.
Even more stunning than the pictures. Walk route K if you have the time. It gets you to the quieter sections with no crowds.
Check out the hiking trails off the main route for the best views.
Beautiful nature but overcrowded. If you, as me, don't like crowded places where you are constantly fighting for your personal space and waiting in long queues you should avoid this place specially in summer.
Awesome trails and views. I could spend all day here.
Very special and unique scenery. Must visit if you are in Croatia.
One of the most beautiful places I've ever been in my life. Absolutely amazing, don't miss it:)
Wonderful place and landscape but a little bit too crowded.
Amazing place as beautiful as the pictures you see - even on a rainy grey day!
Quite busy even when we visited fairly off peak with some slow going on the boardwalks - especially when you get inconsiderate visitors who stop suddenly or act as if they own the place.
Ticket includes the boats and bus services to explore the park. We did trail 'B' which you can do in about 4 hours.
Easily accessible by bus from Zagreb and Zadar (we took a bus from Zagreb to Entrance 1 then another from there to Zadar).
Free (but quite unsecure - but we had no issue/problems) left luggage is available from the Information Office at Entrance 1 (they give you a key to a shed and you help yourself).
Really beautiful place worth to visit it beautiful crystal Clear Lakes that you can see the bottom
Must and full day walk / visit in the midst of nature. Amazing walk, pure Nature. Must visit during Europe. Very Well maintained and good food options
Amazing , took the H route and it was a good decision
Very lovely place to visit, if you are in nearby area it is a must. Note that some tracks are quite long (5-10km or even 18km walking) and can take between 3 and 8 hours to complete. During hot weather it can be quite challenging. But there are several shops with cool drinks along the way, so you don't have to carry much with you.
The park will reward you with some amazing views, lots of options to go for (there are close to ten official tracks). And if you are fan of Karl May you can see places where some of his movies were shot.
Can be crowded mid season though, especially annoying on the slim pathways across water.
Probably the most amazing place in Croatia. Totally must see.
Buy the tickets at least 48 hours before via internet! Start by entrance 2, take the path H and plan to arrive to the end of the day at the great fall for perfect photos. Bring water. There is place for eating. If you do not have tickets, go to the entrance 2 and arrive there very early (7:30 am?). Awesome place, worth visiting!
Fantastic views, however, the food is literally garbage.
If there is only one place you visit during your trip to Croatia, make it Plitvice lakes national park.
Most folks do this as a day trip, often with guided tours, so to avoid the crowds either stay somewhere nearby like Korenica and get there early OR get there towards to second half of the day.
You can't swim here BUT the views are amazing and there are at least 2 lookout points that are spectacular (and can be found on every postcard of this place).
One is atop the step next to the big waterfall. The other is along the road leading up from the caves.
An awesome place with astounding natural beauty that I am sure you'll love.
If you can make it through the crowds of selfie-taking tourists, you'll discover that Plitvice Lakes National Park more than lives up to the hype. The 16 terraced lakes of Croatia's most popular site are connected by waterfalls and vary in shades of blue, resulting in something that defies the imagination.
