I've stayed at this hotel for nearly a week and I love it. I love the old-fashioned but classy feel of the hotel and how cosy the room is. It's centralized location is great for when I just need something to eat and I could just pop out and get a variety of choices. The staff are friendly and always ready with their smiles which makes me feel very welcome. I would definitely be back here.

The rooms are a bit dated, but great views... I first rated it 3 stars but has to be 1 as its poor Premier inn has 5 stars.

It's really deteriorated since I first published my review thought I'll add to it again this time as they have gone down even more. The customer service is just poor, hotel menu is dead as my long forgotten toe nail and they said its due to low staff members.

Friendly advice do not order breakfast in bed as you'll regret the day you ever even started to enter your card details to pay for your stay.

In the morning asking for anything you're probably better off calling amazon prime now and requesting something to be sent to your room as the staff members will most likely not bother or just not... Bother!

I think I will be calling this my last stay and I won't be saying any long goodbyes either, such a shame as they have nice spa facilities.

Top drawer hotel in the best location for city break. The breakfast is the best with lovely friendly staff. We have been 3 times now and without doubt will be returning. Premium prices but this hotel is for special treat weekends for us.

Beautiful hotel. Lovely interior design, but it doesn't feel dated or run down. I was there for a conference and the staff and facilities were superb. The food was tasty, and presented nicely. My room was large and well equipped with all the extras you could need!

The lobby and public areas are deceiving. This is no 4/5 star hotel.
Check-in was cold. Not even a smile. Oh, by the way, if you want a newspaper in the morning, they charge you. Seriously? For a hotel that wants to be a high end establishment, this kind of nickle and dimeing is silly.
Rooms were okay. Really nothing to write home about. Lacking closet space. Had a whole closet dedicated to the ironing board. How smart. Only two sets of towels in the bathroom. Dialed down for more, and the person seemed incredulous that someone would want more towels.
No place really to hang your towel either, except for the already crowded towel rack.
The most ridiculous and user-unfriendly coffee-making gadget in the room. "tear this part off, pull here, squeeze here, hang it there..." and you end up with coffee ground all over.
Breakfast at Mr. Cooper was frantic. Servers seemed friendly enough. Some even smiled. One morning the hostess came over to us, and without even looking at us, managed to say all of "good morning, room number?" How efficient. Great way to start a day.
The nicest part of the hotel? The very nice gentleman who was the doorman. Loved him. Unfortunately, he wasn't there when we checked out. So, no one to even help with the door, hail a cab, help with luggage, etc. But by then we were so happy to be outta there!

The doorman was quick to greet us and assist with our bags and parking. Once inside, the room was excellent. Quite large and comfortable with a decent view. We partook of the spa and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of service and amenities. The pool and thermal shower were favorites of ours. The bed was fantastically comfortable and the bathroom quite spacious and included a towel heater! Overall it was an excellent stay and I would recommend this to anyone.

Attended The North of England Transport Awards at the Midland. All staff courteous and professional. Well presented and attentive. The experience was on par with what you'd expect of an establishment held in as high regard as The Midland.

Very good hotel in the middle of Manchester. Tram stop right in front of the hotel. Rooms just renovated, high quality. Our room was very spacious. Good service and very friendly waiter in the hotel lobby.

This is a review of the hotel's afternoon tea service. I've been twice now (once in the summer, once in the winter) and both times the service has been horrendous but the food has been brilliant!

The first time I went I was told there was a wedding function on in the main afternoon tea area, but I only found this out when I arrived. Everyone who wasn't involved with the wedding was hurried upstairs to a small, back-up room for their food. Wouldn't have been so bothered if I'd been told in advance that I wouldn't be able to use the main area.

The second time I was booked in for 15:30 but wasn't allowed in until just before 16:00 because they were "behind schedule". When I did finally get a seat nobody brought over a menu or asked about drinks for 15 minutes and only came over once I'd grabbed a waiter's attention. There were also no napkins on the table. I'd understand if I was eating in a fast-paced restaurant but afternoon tea isn't exactly an intense situation for staff, especially since all the food is pre-made.

That being said, the food and drinks were brilliant on both occasions and once a staff member actually served our table they were nothing but helpful and very knowledgeable about the various teas on offer. I recommend the 1803, specially made for the hotel.

Based on both experiences I probably wouldn't wade into battle with The Midland's afternoon tea service again but if you can stomach a delay you'll enjoy the food. When it arrives...

The Midland is a classy old bird with great staff. There are murky corners (the curtains in the corridor on the fifth floor were filthy) but all in all very classy. We ate at the French. It was fine but not great. Wouldn't probably bother again.

Sometimes taken over by Tories during conference season, but it's closed to regular people then anyway. Otherwise, a great hotel with well furnished rooms, friendly staff and an excellent breakfast.

It's a lovely hotel but unfortunately it's under renovation which meant that the bar and restaurant were sited in temporary locations. My main grumble was that my room on 1st floor smelt of old cigarette smoke. I think it was coming through the ventilation. Shame
