Great location and the building has a real feel and character to it. Service also very good, both in the bar and reception. Room was comfortable but perhaps a little dated. Breakfast was disappointing. It's not that it was bad at all, it's just with the setting and service it didn't quite feel as good as it should have been.

Expected an experience on par with that of L'Enclume, but the standards fell far short. Food was of course excellent, but service and a few kitchen mistakes let us down. Therefore it was definitely a disappointment and an expensive experience.

Wonderful hotel in easy walking distance of the city centre. Beautiful rooms, well appointed and clean. The restaurants and bars are great. Highly recommend afternoon tea where they have a vegan menu.

Great hotel with professional service & fantastic facilities, restaurants, spa etc. Wonderful access to Manchester in the heart of the city. Rooms are getting a little tired but are very quiet & comfortable with all the amenities.

Impressive entrance giving onto a suitably theatrical cocktail bar. A promise of exciting things to come. Perched on high stools you can escape a little from the hurly burly and enjoy the house signature cocktails which are intriguing and delicious. But the restaurant didn't look inviting. It has the blandness of an upmarket hotel breakfast room. Anonymous, lacking character - reinforced by bits of unimaginatively positioned bits of greenery. A far cry from the promise and expectation of what should be a unique and tasteful space - given its heritage and historical narrative. A lost opportunity. More Coronation Street back yard than magical secret garden. Don't think Mr. Cooper would recognise the place...

After an incredible day spa experience last year, we had the chance to actually stay at The Midland and thought our experience was bound to be repeated. Sadly this was not to be. The rooms are incredibly dated and ours had clearly suffered More

Very lovely hotel, would book again. Got hugely lost with the Sat Nav as it took us to a different part of the hotel, due to roadworks it wasn't easy getting to the place we needed to be and the oneway roads. Make sure for disabled parking your sat nav takes you to the road that is opposite the Central Library.

What a wonderful hotel. I stayed here after a party, also here. Comfy bed. Black out curtains. Nice and quiet.
The food at the party was amazing. Presented beautifully. Cooked to perfection. I would recommend The Midland to anyone wanting to stay in Manchester.

I have used Living Social for a very long time and use it particularly for having my hair cut. This time decided to go to Joseph Elliot in the Midland Hotel Manchester, being a reputable salon.
What a disaster, my hair was cut so short .There are long and short bits, that don't blend in at all, the crown is too short.
My husband was shocked and all I've done is cry. I felt that the girl was an apprentice, had no idea how to cut hair at all. To cut natural curly hair fringe dry!!!!!!
So if your using Living Social I would go to another salon.
Never again!!!!!!

Very nice hotel, shame the gym shuts quite early as I would like to of used it during my stay, but sadly as I was at a conference both days until 9pm I didn't get the chance.
Others complained about the air con not working, I found mine to always be on freezing even when it was turned up or even turned off (often turned itself back on in the middle of the night).

The breakfast was fantastic however and all the staff were great both in the bar and around the hotel itself.

The Octagon Lounge just isn't what it was. Gone is the poetry, the superb lounge pianist, and the magnificent Moroccan lantern. Now it's an enlarged cocktail bar and walls painted a Llewellen-Bowen shade of blue. Still a peaceful retreat for an evening drink, but nothing special. Sad, like an old friend having a midlife crisis.

Had a roast dinner which was very tasty but the service was a bit slow. Ordinarily this would probably be absolutely fine but we were there on a spa lunch and wanted as much time in the spa as possible.

I've only visited this place through work, attending seminars etc. The location is excellent for both train and road (parking is plentiful), and the newly refurbished square at the front of the hotel has good metro link connections too. Plenty of chain coffee shops nearby too. Catering has always been great and the aircon has kept the hottest days manageable.

Beautiful hotel, very upscale. Room was sizeable and pricing was as expected for the experience. The aircon in our room was in fault when we got there, the lobby reception explained the reset, however didn't get very cold in the room. I parked at the hotel (30 GBP) and it took about 40 mins for a valet to retrieve the vehicle in the morning.

A beautiful, tranquil hotel close to everything in the center
The rooms are once beautiful and the breakfast is fun in the hotel. The receptionist Oana gave her five stars on her screen and she received us in a very elegant way.

Spa is fantastic on some days and not so good on others depending on the staff. On our last visit the relaxation area was not cleaned very often so water jugs were empty, dirty glasses left on the floor and sides. A couple shut themselves in one of the side rooms excluding others from using it and the hot tub was cold. Just not a great 3rd experience at all.

Visited the tea room at the midland with my 3 daughters to finish off a hen do weekend for my youngest.
We looked at various venues before deciding to book here as we wanted something special.we were not disappointed !!!!
From walking in we were made to feel very welcome and valued as a customer.
The setting is perfect and just felt like going back in time. The table was set beautifully and the vases of fresh flowers were a lovely touch.
ZDRAVKO was our waiter and looked after us very well.he told us all about the different loose leaf teas and recommended a few.he then told us what every sandwich and cake was filled with.he also checked about allergies.
Although it was busy he constantly checked on us without being intrusive.
The setting & the food / drinks were excellent and was made all the more special by the service we received from zdravko he is a credit to the hotel.
Well done & thank you ALL.x
