The lobby and public areas are deceiving. This is no 4/5 star hotel.
Check-in was cold. Not even a smile. Oh, by the way, if you want a newspaper in the morning, they charge you. Seriously? For a hotel that wants to be a high end establishment, this kind of nickle and dimeing is silly.
Rooms were okay. Really nothing to write home about. Lacking closet space. Had a whole closet dedicated to the ironing board. How smart. Only two sets of towels in the bathroom. Dialed down for more, and the person seemed incredulous that someone would want more towels.
No place really to hang your towel either, except for the already crowded towel rack.
The most ridiculous and user-unfriendly coffee-making gadget in the room. "tear this part off, pull here, squeeze here, hang it there..." and you end up with coffee ground all over.
Breakfast at Mr. Cooper was frantic. Servers seemed friendly enough. Some even smiled. One morning the hostess came over to us, and without even looking at us, managed to say all of "good morning, room number?" How efficient. Great way to start a day.
The nicest part of the hotel? The very nice gentleman who was the doorman. Loved him. Unfortunately, he wasn't there when we checked out. So, no one to even help with the door, hail a cab, help with luggage, etc. But by then we were so happy to be outta there!
