Lovely suite. Nice central 4* hotel. Comfortable bed and good supply of drinks in the comimentary in room fridge. Breakfast buffet on the cool side which was a shame. Overall though no complaints.

I had gluten free afternoon tea and to be honest I do not recommend it.
The sandwiches are rolls so there is too much bread in proportion to filling. I found it to be meagre. The flavours need reviewing. Only the beef I found good flavour with onion.

This hotel is worn, staff is offensive and rude, pool is dirty and the air-conditioning in our room were not functioning. In addition the plumbing system is on the brink of falling apart and the rooms smelled of rotten furniture and carpets.. The hotel looks like a promising from the ground floor and online presence, but be aware, I've never witnessed such a let down-experience.

I will ask for a full refund, but they probably won't give it to us, they wouldn't change our room even though maintenance couldn't fix any of the errors.

Loved our stay here. Such a majestic building with plenty to do. Two double beds in our room which was perfect for the family. Extremely comfy beds in a spacious room, with all the facilities needed. More than happy with our room! Only let down with the rooms were the single glazing windows which let a little cold in, and quite a lot of noise, but the curtains and extra heaters helped. Breakfast in bed was very nice and delivered on time. Great bar area with very nice cocktails and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. Perfect stay for a birthday celebration. Will be back 5***** Recommended

Attended for a end of semester Ball. A lovely setting, but understaffed at the bar and waiting staff on the tables left room for improvement. In the bank holiday heatwave it also suffered from a lack of proper ventilation in the lobby, although the temperature definitely improved once we were actually in our venue.

Has probably once been one of the city's best hotels, but now appears a bit old and worn, and thus does not live up to the expectations of a 4-star hotel. We were there for a period of hot weather, but if you come during the winter season, there is cold in the bathroom, as the only heat source is the towel rail. On the other hand, the location is optimal, and there is a stop for trams right outside the door, among other things. for the line that runs to the airport.

Enjoyed a champagne afternoon tea at The Midland. The service was good and on the whole the food was delicious all bar one of the sandwiches - the salmon on what looked like chocolate cake! It was very bitter with not much filling. The surroundings were lovely and the pianist added to the ambiance.

Very warm welcome from reception agent and restaurant staff ! It s very unusual to get this attention from a city centre hotel . This is all due to good management and supervisory staff ! We shall re visit as we did not do as much of the sights of Manchester we would like to have done !

This is a review on the afternoon tea at the Octagon Lounge, Midland hotel.

The tea selection has been individually picked by the manager himself. And he shares his personal experience and advice when we asked questions on food pairing. We appreciate this a lot.

The serving may not look enormous but it is more than enough. Trust us!

However, we felt that the service can be improved. Whilst the staff were generally very friendly to us, we felt that the other guests were ignored. The others were trying to ask for a bill, a new clean cup or plate, and the staff simply walked by without looking or acknowledging. But as we said, we enjoyed great service. The staff actually stopped by and explained about the scones, the cream and the history. And we thank you for this!

To be honest I've never actually stayed here as it's always one of the more expensive when searching for a room. I am disabled and I wear a stoma bag, recently I found myself in a very embarrassing position i had eaten or drunk something not so clever & needed to change my bag, I was panicking & was directed by a local Bobby to the midland to use their disabled loo. Only to find that it was closed due to some mindless thug vandalising it the previous night. Panic set in & I started sweating profusely I went to the reception & openly admitted I was not a guest but that I needed to use a disabled loo, I was mesmerized as to how friendly the staff were, without further ado they gave me the key to room 19 and told me to return it when I had finished, wow!!! What a relief!! Thankyou everyone at the midland Manchester you saved my day that day, you are a shower if heroes!! Thankyou from Scouse George,

beautiful building on the outside and it's reflected on the inside. I really enjoyed my stay t the Midland when I came for a birthday present. The rooms were a little small, that's my only complaint.

If the staff hadn't been so great, I would have marked it down slightly. The hotel itself is quite basic ..you don't feel the luxury when you enter. Instead it feels a little outdated and cold...not as grand as I was expecting. The staff however.... very professional and tentative including the lovely Valet. The food in the main restaurant was very salty and I was actually ill after eating there (though I am not sure if it was the food but as soon as I had finished eating I felt very ill and stayed in bed for the remainider of the evening). I cannot rate the staff enough - they are what makes the place.

The hotel is very grand and in a great location, and the rooms are very spacious and very lovely. I also really enjoyed my breakfast, especially the very lightly smoked side of salmon with creamy scrambled eggs and the lovely tea. I ve deducted stars because the hotel did not offer me a satisfactory solution to a si-fi issue in my room. I arrived at the hotel at 5pm and immediately the si-fi was not working. I went to reception and they said the si-di was out of action on the whole of the 5th and 6th floors, and that it would be back after 6:30pm. I would have appreciated if they had told me so at check-in. Then I asked to be moved to another room specifying that I wanted a quiet room. The lady at Reception found a room on the 2nd floor and told me it faced the internal courtyard. I went to check out the room and found the room faced outwards on a busy street and there was a very noisy crane in operation. So I went back to Reception and said that I was going to stay in the original room and wait for the si-fi to be restored. The wi-fi was never restored. I called Reception and a lady told me that she was not aware of any issues that she d been working since 2pm and that I should just reboot my computer. I explained that that was not the solution but she was pretty dismissive. At 10pm a very lovely guy from Reception (Marcos) came all the way to my room and tried to sort it out but couldn t. He then called IT and called me back saying that the issue should now be resolved. I found that I could connect for a very short time from my phone but it didn t last. I called Reception again and someone else told me that they would call IT again. For the whole evening I explained to everyone I spoke to that I absolutely needed the wi-fi to work that evening but they said the hotel was full. Eventually, I went to bed and the following morning the problem was still unresolved. I mentioned it when I checked out and the person didn t say sorry and it was obvious that he wasn t going to a to on this information as he seemed pretty disinterested. I would have expected a much superior level of concern for the guest for a hotel of this league. No effort was made to accommodate my need to work that evening and this is pretty unacceptable. Every year, at my company we organise a major computing conference in the convention centre just behind the hotel. I will think twice before recommending to the delegates - all in computing - to stay in a hotel that does not take seriously the issue of having a wi-if connection for work in the hotel rooms.

Went to Mr Coopers for a cocktail. There was one with rum, pisco, and a pistacchio gomme. I can't remember the name, i wasn't drunk, It just escapes me for some reason.. It was bloody beautiful. Table service for your cocktails, and the staff are really knowledgeable. Great for a quiet cocktail and if You like sitting down and not queueing for hours at a bar whilst getting shiteye from other customers....

Good service, nice room and comfortable bed. The spa was the icing on the cake and we spent a good hour in there relaxing in the pool,Jacuzzi, sauna and showers. Breakfast wasn't fantastic but just about did the job, and could have done without housekeeping waking us up by coming into our room at 9am

My husband had booked my sister and me for a spa day as a suprise. On the way I phoned to see if there was close parking or if they offer valet as I'm heavily pregnant with spd, which means I cant walk far without being in a lot of pain. I More

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, spacious rooms that are well decorated and equipped with everything you would expect. Comfy bed, modern T.V., free WiFi worked well for streaming Netflix etc. Went out for dinner and the hotel is well situated a couple of minutes walk from numerous bars and restaurants. Breakfast service was good plenty of choice, would certainly recommend and would happily return.
