Excellent food and excellent service. Salted caramel espresso martini is a must.
Excellent food and excellent service. Salted caramel espresso martini is a must.
My favourite restaurant in Windsor. Always new exciting dishes to try that are creative and surprising!
On the Wednesday dumpling specials were not so great. I ve been there on a Saturday and it was fabulous! Great environment
They offer an all you can eat and drink but the service is terrible. I had to order most of my drinks multiple times because they d forget, ordered something one hour before our seating finished and checked on it twice and then 10 minutes before our booking was up, he said it was too late. We asked for a final round of drinks that never came and then they kicked us off the table. Very strict on finishing your drink before getting another - one of the staff members wouldn t let my friend order another drink claiming she d given her last drink to someone else in order to pretend she didn t have one. Average food, shocking service.
What can I say, honestly thank-you Morris Jones for such a wonderful brunch that turned into us staying for 8hours! Special shout out to Ferenc and Aaron not only in regards to customer service but also making my girls and I feel so welcomed, bars are only as good as the people that work there so Thankyou again! This place is a true definition of bottomless brunch, good music and great vibes. I tested positive for downing too many passion-fruit cocktails and shots.
Came in on a quiet night after dinner for a nightcap. Old kiwi mate really lifted the vibe, had an awesome time!
The food was amazing and they were so accommodating with our garlic and onion allergy!
Place is nice staff and mainly the bartenders shouldn't have jobs absolute horrible people. Bunch of eggs they are
What an absolutely pathetic excuse for a restaurant/bar! Visited here for my birthday and was left feeling degraded, upset and infuriated. I had friends visiting from NSW and we were all so excited to celebrate my birthday at MJ s for the Sip n Sushi deal. When we first arrived we were extremely impressed by the whole venue. The vibe, the workers, the decor, everything! We were shown our seats and the food and drinks started flowing. After the first few plates of food arrived and we finished them our table was left food-less for a long period of time, despite asking staff for more food. Putting this aside we were still very impressed with everything about MJ s. After the Sip n Sushi promotion had finished the staff allowed my friends and I to stay upstairs to socialise until they had to start preparing for the night s festivities when they asked us to kindly relocate downstairs. We moved downstairs, ordered cocktails and while we were waiting for them to be made we began getting photos with the iconic flower wall. One of my friends decided to take a silly one (she lifted one leg up and out both her hands up on the flower wall) and as she did, one of the flowers fell from the wall. She picked it up and as she was placing it on the table the bar a manager came over and rudely said you re not taking that flower! . She replied saying she wasn t going to, instead she was putting it on the table so it could be fixed back to the wall. Soon after this happened we noticed the bar manager liaising with this older gentlemen who was seated at a table behind us when my sister heard the older man say Are these people actually paying customers or are they just here using us for our flower wall?! . My sister was so offended by this statement since we had just spent close to $500 in the 2.5 short hours we d been in this club that she turned around and explained this to him. After some words were exchanged we found out that this awful man was indeed the owner of MJ! We were asked to leave after he had degraded and our us down with his words. I cannot believe this man would treat his paying customers so poorly. Even though I loved this venue, I will NEVER return because that pig does not deserve my money and I will ensure to pass this message on to whoever I talk to! All because we re not influencers who can promote his business...
Lots to like about this place - fun party atmosphere, comfortable tables and fantastic cocktail menu. The menu offers modern Australian food but the portion sizes are small. There are plenty of great side dishes and I recommend you order a few so you don't leave hungry. The service was a bit amateur but all in all, we had a great night at Morris Jones.
Restaurant staff were awesome, but this place is full of Melbourne's most pretentious and obnoxious people! Will never go back.
If you're a pretentious wannabe you'll enjoy it.
If you're a normal intelligent person, you'll hate it.
Went here fir friend's 30th for the all you can eat sushi dumplings and cocktails except our table got served food once and we were starving in the end. The waiters were flustered and stressed. I think they were short staffed. But I didn't feel like we got our money's worth. The flower wall was pretty tho
Zero stars if it were an option. Place is disgraceful with extremely poor service and cleanliness. Regrets going!
Always a amazing and wonderful time food and people are always on point.
Worst use of space I've seen. Half of the resturant was largely empty as it is reserved for those ordering food, while the other half was so crowded that I could not move and had to leave without even ordering a drink.
Terrible service. Staff ignore patrons who don't have breasts. Don't expect to be served within 20 minutes if you're male. The fastest working person behind the bar is the glassie, who unfortunately isn't permitted to grace the bar with his efficiency. Uncomfortable, minimal seating areas. And all at a premium price. Not returning to this place.
Very disappointed.. I came with 2 friends for dinner. The host was abrupt and pushy, but found us a table; where our waitress forgot our drinks order, didn t offer water, and we waited almost 50 minutes for our main meal to come out which was 2 mouthfuls worth for $30. To top it off our curly fries arrived after we finished this main meal. If you re hungry DO NOT visit this restaurant.
Good food, good drink, good service, many beautiful people
Poor service and arrogant staff. So many better places on chapel street
Apparently you can't get into this establishment if the doorman's clicker provides an odd number of people in the premises. Even numbers however, and you may be let in. Ultimately, I'm disappointed I can't give this place a Zero.
Ate at this place last week and it was fairly decent. Then i saw an advertisement that they use mocking Christians and religion. What an absolute joke. Have some respect i will and my family will never be returning because we feel unwelcomed.
Arrived with two friends, was told that we were not allowed in under the basis that we were two males. As we patiently waited for our friends to come out we were further bullied and moved away from the security.
On Monday 22 May, our party of 4 enjoyed a truly delightful thanksgiving dinner to celebrate the divine successes of 3 major events that our non-profit organisation planned and executed in March and April. Our waiter David was refreshingly hospitable, recommended dishes that sensationalised our palate, and provided informative commentary on the background and creative thought behind the cuisine. Our trust in his suggestions were satisfactorily rewarded. Morris Jones was the perfect choice, and David tastefully decorated the occasion. Our next visit will surely be soon!

Amazing food, can't say enough good things, staff are really accommodating.
Great food ,great venue, and friendly staff, definitely go again , beautiful women
Zoe and the crew were amazing. Thank you for having us.
Haven t been here for a while but was disappointed to be awake vomiting at 3am after dinner.
Definitely the worst restaurant & bar in Victoria. Overpriced, terrible food and disgusting drinks with atrocious service and untrained staff. I wouldn't even bother, it's not worth it.
My partner David and I came here to celebrate our 10 years, we opted for the sip n sushi - it did not disappoint. Our waiter Juan was amazing - he was polite, friendly, sociable and very professional. For the entire 2 hours of our sip n sushi he was extremely hospitable even when the venue became busy! All staff we had host us were happy and welcoming! It s a complete vibe here and we will definitely be back again. Thank you too all Morris Jones staff for a fantastic boozy brunch.
Bad attitude on the staff, rude arrogant and over priced, ordered cocktails 2 mins before happy hour and they wouldn t do happy hour prices! Was hoping this to be my new Sunday local - will not recommend nor return.
Fantastic tasting experimental food, friendly service but a bit slow (took us over 2 hours from first course to last).
Great vibe and music. Staff were friendly and organised. The White chocolate passion-fruit martinis are to die for. Literally my new favourite place in Melbourne.
Had the chefs choice menu. Great value for so much amazing food!
Really recommend this place. Come here time and time again, always encountering professional service from staff. One of the best places for both dinner and weekend cocktails on Chapel St. Not to mention the stunning fit out!
I feel socially obliged to share my thoughts after reading about the mediocre service received from other patrons.
I came here for dinner on a Wednesday night, and the service was exceptional. Our waiter was extremely attentive, doubled as a bartender, professional, knew when our next course should be served, and kept my glass magically filled the entire night.
The food was excellent. Some dishes stood out over others, but all dishes were still great. The soft shell crab temaki was delicious. Sashimi was fresh, but wasabi needed more kick. The wagyu enoki tataki is probably the best combination of beef and mushroom flavours I've ever had. The wagyu beef dumpling (that I had huge doubts about) tasted exactly like a cheeseburger and was absolutely mind blowing.
For a fusion place, the flavours presented were quite authentic. The real joy about this place, is that you can really see where the chefs own flair comes in, which makes the dining experience so enjoyable, unexpected, but still taste like the food you've always known and loved.
I had a fantastic time here and plan on revisiting. Will definitely share my experience with friends and family as well. Keep up the great work.
Went for the sip and sushi to celebrate a 30th birthday. Place has a great vibe, food was pretty good but not amazing, certainly more geared towards the cocktails which, in fairness, were great. The real dampener was the service.
We basically had one waiter for 25 of us, so were waiting 15-20 minutes for each drink, with things being forgotten frequently and including not being served anything until 20 minutes past the start time (bearing in mind how strict they are about the 2 hour sitting).
There was also barely enough room for all of us, and I had to basically argue with the manager about getting more chairs put in after he initially responded extremely rudely with "we don't have any more chairs so just get everyone to squash up"... excuse me??? Are we paying $60pp to sit on each other's laps? On top of this, they didn't even have enough plates to serve our cake.
Go for the drinks, not for the dining
Had a delightful birthday dinner at Morris Jones. The service was great and the food absolutely exquisite! So flavoursome!
For the price you pay for the amazing food we had is unbelievable. Just amazing food. We had incredible service.
Dined here and had an utterly disappointing experience. Was provided with incorrect booking details, was not told set menu price and given misleading information.
Upon sitting down and ordering drinks we were approached by the waiter and told we had to move because we weren t spending enough. This is after waiting 25 minutes for a drink and 45 minutes for food. We were then told to move to an outside table because our order as described by the manager would not cut it .
Suffice to say there are 8 of us who would never dine or drink there again.
Overall, poor quality food, rude and unprofessional staff just topped off the evening.
Starters were not bad. Mains were not good value and very overrated. I'd look at changing the main dishes.
Fantastic food and wine. We had the "trust me" chefs selection and it did not disappoint. You have to try the black tempura capsicum!
Unlike a lot of other reviewers, I come here primarily for the restaurant, so I can't speak to the quality of the cocktails. The food is always excellent, priced reasonably, and of a higher quality than a lot of other restaurants in the area. They have a great wine list and the staff are consistently excellent. We even came with the pram and there was no problem making room for both us and the pram by the side of the table.
I highly recommend this place and it's a local favourite of mine.
Our food orders were mixed up which was disappointing.
Weekend catch up spot. Lovely food and drinks. Kick it off soon. Don't wait for it.
Great spot wth great happy hour from 5-7pm. Food absolutely delicious. Staff friendly and accomodating
Forced menu for larger groups which I get... However when overcharged for set menu, management won't credit.. Very poor customer service claiming 'too busy' to look into further..
Mystery Box-Tuesday: If you re looking for high-end food, rich with flavour and elegance that you didn t know could be combined on one plate - all topped off with quality service. Go no further than a mystery menu at Morris Jones - for $59pp. Ideal for any food lover (vegetarian option available), date night or anyone looking for a great experience.
I challenge you to find better value for money whilst you re in Melbourne. Will be back for sure.
Lovely food, drinks ! great to hang out with friends here!
Worst place possible. Arrived here with two friends and after having 2 drinks at a bar before hand (not heavily intoxicated at all) and upon arriving the bouncer looked a just myself and asked how many drinks I have had and wanted to refuse entry based on myself being "too skinny" its 2021 I thought with everything going on in the world places wouldn't discriminate people upon their size. Reported it to management who couldn't care less and just said well its true she's to skinny and wont be able to handle her drinks. Never returning and never felt so discriminated against. Do not waste your money here.
Worst experience I have ever had in Australia. The security guards were beyond rude.
Took my colleagues here for dinner the other night and the food selection was great and the cocktails are amazing. The staff was so attentive and professional. The place is absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend this place not just for big functions but also a night out with friends.
Had the sip n sushi deal. Enjoyed the food & got my fair share of drink.
Great for happy hour. Not to bad for not happy hour but VERY pricy
Amazing! The staff were attentive and friendly. The food was so delicious and made to perfection. Cocktails were tasty. The venues pretty and in a great location. Will definitely be making dinner dates here a regular occurrence.
Food was a solid pass, go for drinks and some music instead
By far the stickiest floor I have ever, ever, ever laid my shoes on Ever!
Good drinks and music. Security staff were excellent.
My daughter had a birthday lunch at Morris Jones on 21 September 2019. The service was appalling - the Waiter who served them took their plates before they could finish eating and also was extremely rude to them - they felt that they were being discriminated as compared to every one else on the day. Two of the girls got food poisoning from eating at this so called "place to be". One of them was so very ill she had constant vomiting, diarrhoea and night sweats. She was almost hospitalised. I called and left my name and number to be contacted. Someone contacted me on Tuesday 24 September and advised that the Venue Manager would call me. No one has called me. I have called and left a few messages. I work for the Department of Health and Human Services and I will be reporting this venue to them as it's doesn't fit OH&S rules.
Honestly I'd give a zero if I could. We had a two hour booking for sip and sushi. No one came to take out order drink order until 6:35 pm and didn't arrive until nearly 7 which was not too long after the food finally arrived. I had to ask the waiter 3 times for another drink which didn't arrive until 7:30 and one more which arrived just before 8pm when we were told to leave because our reservation was over and my nearly full cocktail was taken away. The staff were incredibly rude the whole time as if we were being such a bother to them for asking for drinks or more food because plates were empty and no one has bothered to collect them or see if we wanted any more 'bottomless' sushi. Also was told I couldn't pay cash, which I can understand in these current times, however I was charged a service fee against my knowledge for doing so.
Perhaps we wouldn't have been so disappointed with the disgusting service if we didn't see the manager (or owner?) receiving great service at the table next to us. We know he is of some level of management as he was helping himself to wine behind the bar.
Toilets hadn't been clean and toilet paper on the floor. There was maybe 20 people in the resteraunt with at least 4 floor staff and we were 11 of the 20. There is really no excuse for the way we were treated. $65 x11 at a time like covid should warrent far better service. It was my friends birthday and we hadn't all seen each other in months. Honestly we're all shattered.
On the contrary to what the owner responses are to all other negative feedback, I am not trying to kick you while you're down. Perhaps this is the review that encourages you to make the changes you so evidently need to make in order to save your business. I will never be returning and neither will my 10 friends that were there that night.
Inconsistent. This is the second time we ve been; the food was still excellent (try their ink tempura peppers!) but the waitress was distracted and the blonde male staff member at the door was self-important and unwelcoming.
Worst service ever. Racism at its best. Group of 8girls & 2 guys weren t allowed entry purely based on their colour. I definitely won t be visiting again but will let people of my colour know to never visit this place either.
Never Again!
The staff were unenthusiastic and unprofessional!
The place is pretentious yet the atmosphere was below average!
The food was lacking in flavour and was overpriced!
No good vibes overall at Morris Jones!
NEVER AGAIN!!!
Food good but service slow and place pressure on ordering so they can achieve another setting. If planning on a long dinner then go somewhere else.
Lovely food .. we had the degustation. Only thing I think they should have changed our plates in between courses
Food was nice and creative. Portions were quite small and pricey.
Juan, the bartender, made our experience here incredible, couldn t have asked for better service. He is a star and I wish there were more people like him in the hospitality industry. He catered to our every need and made this night one of the best! He deserves a raise thanks so much again Juan, you re amazing
I just stood at the bar by myself for 6 mins and did not get one person acknowledge me... and I mean I was the ONLY person at the bar and there were 4 bartenders. Good happy hour prices though.
Rude service! Avoid this place like the plague. Just awful
Four courses, one really good, one good, two just ok
Terrible customer service. They only care about taking your money. I would advise going somewhere else who wants/needs/appreciates your dollars. Their marketing is great, don t get sucked in by this as it s not an accurate reflection on the venue itself. Avoid this place!
Definitely geared to the 20s crowd who just want to, very loudly, drink to excess on a Sunday with the sip and sushi all you can drink offer. Which means service elsewhere is terribly slow and staff frequently forgot our drinks order (we More
Amazing food, lots of great wines by the glass. My new favourite restaurant on Chapel St.
Morris Jones is a beautiful venue and Sophie is very attentive and friendly. Would recommend!!!
