AMAZING food, drinks and service. I had a table of 16 people upstairs for my birthday and a girl called Marie looked after us. She went above and beyond and made sure everyone had a drink and plenty of food at all times. Everyone had the best time. Couldn't be happier with our experience. Staff were incredible.

Management were extremely rude and condescending towards my friend who kindly organised and paid for our booking. Staff were extremely pretentious. Menu was limited as they had run out of a lot of the options. Food was over priced, the portions were tiny and over all the food was nothing special. I had the Pork Belly which wasn t very flavoursome, very bland and meaty. One of my friends dishes were completely forgotten about and she had to reminded the staff about this several times. I think this place needs to think about their customers first and not their imagine. Never again.
I have been there with my girlfriend and i had a very great night. Manager Sam is a super host and all the team is very friendly and competent. food is to die for, we even had the chance to have the chef in person coming to our table explaining the dishes! Fabio and Antonio are MASTERCHEF!
Unstable management, unable to identify manager or any authority figure on premises or via phone. Bottomless lunch and drinks was great but after encountering problems and having nobody directly to speak to, I was then advised that they are all equally the manager and referred to their "info" email address. A little disappointing. Two star because the food and drinks were okay but this should have easily been four/five stars after paying $60 a head, elsewhere might make for a better overall experience but maybe that's just me
My girlfriends & I fell victim to drink spiking here on Saturday night. This isn t the first I ve heard of this happening at Morris Jones. The venue should be doing more to keep its customers safe, starting with the removal of the communal water supply at the bar. Always be careful and watch your drinks if you go here
Went to my first ever 'sip & sushi' session yesterday with my good pals. It was honestly an awesome bottomless brunch, staff knew how to provide good customer service (shoutout to Ference) especially, who was attentive and provided drinks suggestions when we were unfamiliar with the drinks menu. The drinks were amazing, like you get amazing cocktails #pinksta - ultimate favourite. Looking at the negative reviews on the page really sucks because hospitality took a huge beating when coronavirus hit and it's just really important to be mindful that the staff are trying their best to get back to somewhat a degree of normality (former hospo worker). Will be back!
Staff were friendly, patient & attentive. Great location, next to a lot of restaurants and bars. Prices are reasonable for drinks, not to expensive. The previous vintage appeal with the wooden floors, dark colours & bromleys has been given a facelift to a slight mix of Japanese & classic fusion. The black & white checked floors & more white colours with modern paintings, when not busy feels quite cold.
Cons: Parking is a real hassle, it took us quite a while to find one.
I came in with my bf for dinner for our anniversary, I think we came in a Thursday with no booking, but the hostess was happy to sit us in a table anyway. The menu is quite small, which I really like it, cause is a really good selection of tasty and delicate food. We had oysters margarita as entree and another one which I don t remember, but both were amazing! We almost couldn t wait for our mains. My bf ordered wagyu and I ordered fish. Again, both were amazing! The service is extremely attentive, explaining us everything about our plates before putting it in the table. The atmosphere is nice, music not so loud (as Mr Miyagi ), perfect to have dinner and even just drinks! I have to say is a bit pricey ($180 dinner for 2, with 2 entrees and 2 drinks) but it totally worth it as the serving is enough. Thanks for giving us a lovely night! Totally coming back soon.
My partner and I were really excited for our first night out in ages, but the rude male staff member really put a damper on things. I'm not sure what we did to warrant the attitude but it really wasn't necessary.
And just a side note, surely having 2 customers ferociously making out in your restaurant is more offensive than 'neck tattoo's' which you seem to be so against.
Have only been here for drinks. The bar staff were all quite friendly. Pretty nice place, although the outside area is a haze of smoke and the bar prices aren't cheap, although I guess comparable for the area
5/5 for this gem on Chapel! Firstly, Morris Jones couldn't be any more instagrammable if they tried. The flower wall is gorgeous and so is the overall decor.
The food definitely doesn't disappoint. Love the idea of Sip & Sushi too. I had the Spicy King Prawn Roll which was the most perfect sushi I've had and so beautifully presented too. The cocktails are quite unique and the staff quite knowledgeable about the flavours in them which was helpful.
Can't wait to come back next time and work my way further through their menu.
The food is great but our waiter, Juan, was absent for the last hour and we didn t get to order drinks during the bottomless brunch. When we tried to order our last drinks, he picked a fight and made the experience really unsatisfactory. Need better service next time.
We went to Morris Jones for my birthday & boy we had the best time. We had a booking and straight away we where made welcome/special. It was a Tuesday night & we had the 4 course surprise dishes. Definitely not disappointed - every dish was well presented & quality & quantity was amazing. Also had a the signature cocktail Passionfruit....as well as Expresso Martinis. Highly recommend & we will go back.
Seriously poor. Me and my friends had a booking for 7 which was accepted by the General Manager but then the security refused entry because we were all male. Although showing proof of our booking they still turned me away. Steer clear
Unfortunately a really disappointing experience. Have been to Morris Jones many times and tonight will be the last. One of our meals came out cold and when it was sent back it returned the same temperature 10 minutes later after everyone else had finished their meals. Our waitress was not accommodating. For a $200 bill we thought something would be compensated for this poor service however after asking about it when the bill came we got a mere $8 off. Wouldn t recommend and won t be back.
My friends and I went for drinks and food and we had a delightful waitress named India, who made our night. The food was delicious but India really made the night fun for us.
Food and cocktails were great! Service was below average. Promised a free shot because they forgot to bring out cutlery(twice) and my dessert had melted in the meantime. Never got my shot too. Better places out there to eat and drink were you feel more welcome.
Horrible male staff member on the weekend, his attitude was rude and belittled the people on the table. I was initially very excited for this bottomless brunch however his customer service and attitude alone will be the reason I shall not return on recommend, The food , venue and other staff members were lovely shame he ruined the experience for multiple parties on my table
Thank you J, Eddie, and all staff at Morris Jones for looking after us last night, and making our son Max's 21st birthday a night to remember, Head chef Matthew Butcher and staff gave us a beautiful ten course degustation with wines matched perfectly by the sommelier,
Excellent service Exceptional food Friendly staff , Highly recommend.
Another spectacular evening of glamour and food with the incredible Andi Lew. What a great venue for functions and food. Two years ago, when it first opened with Jo Hall and Riahnnon Tracey, always a pleasure to attend this venue, so this updates and continues from my first visit to the current launch of this book. Well done #HelenReizer
First and foremost the food was delicious! We booked a table for six family members to celebrate a special birthday occasion. Morris Jones caters for all ages and has class. The younger members of our family not only enjoyed the food but also the youthful energy of dining on a Saturday night. Our waitress was exceptionally attentive to our requests and food and drinks arrived in a timely manner. We will be returning.
Splendid. Just the perfect place for some elegant cocktails, gorgeous ladies and gents and soft house beats. Interiors are perfectly Melbourne ... chill, cool, chic, happy. Very cool spot
Nice food, clean flavours (a bit bland) just very small servings (even the large) for what you r paying. The main or large plate of barramundi was a mere mouthful once halved so that was disappointing. Wouldn't go again for a meal
Was so looking forward to the Morris Jones experience (having flown in from Sydney for this) and was so disappointed. The food was good, but for a set menu for 15 people it wasn t close to enough food. (Table of 6 people had one tiny side of beans to share. After asking if we re getting more I was told they will check and never came back.) Dietary requirements were constantly mixed up also. And when u asked about ur meal u felt like u we re inconveniencing them to do there job. Which brings me to my main disappointment, which was the staff. Very blunt, not friendly and would remove your plates as u we re eating. And constantly asking if they can take ur cutlery & plates away the second u take the last drop of food. All in all, it felt like they just wanted us out. The staff needs to work on there customer service. Being friendly, accomodating & not removing food/plates until the table is done. Simple etiquette.
We came in to eat dinner and told the waiter we had to be somewhere at 8.30, so she made us change our whole order so we could be out by then, which was a lie, the mains ended up coming out by 8.30 and we didn t leave by 9.30. Service was not up to standards at all. Food was okay not worth the $180 bill on a small portion of foods that was shared by 2.
Would have loved to celebrate my girlfriends birthday with her friends that were already inside Morris Jones last week however I was told upon my arrival with her that I could not get in due to my neck tattoos. I am a working professional and manage a luxury retail store, having neck tattoos has not hindered my employment so I cannot see why this would hinder me having a night out with my partner for her birthday. A real let down in this day and age.
Such a fun venue! Typically a place you want to dress up to go to. Plays the music really loud new aged hiphop (Nicki Minaj, Cardi B) Amazing happy hour.. service is outstanding. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THE GORMET SUSHI PLATTER FOR 2...
Would not recommend! The wait staff/bartenders were nice enough but the management were absolutely awful. The two men we delt with were arrogant, rude and condescending from the minute we got there. One of the managers insulted members of our group, tried to start arguments, and was generally just rude.
Sure the place is pretty but the food is average, the drinks menu for the bottomless is limited, the service for drinks is SLOW, and when they do show up are massively watered down. Not worth your money, and not a pleasant place to be.
Good if you enjoy overpriced drinks, overcrowding and pretending that you're a influencer. If you want the real chapel street experience pick any other place.
The food was amazing, perhaps more options especially after our 3rd serving we were kind of over it and the cocktail was very light on the alcohol side and not much in it! The atmosphere was fabulous, the bottle of wine was great but the shots tastes like cough medicine. Overall a good experience!
I was so excited to be a patron. I was very disappointed .. If you dont believe in Xmas that's fine . ..don't put up any deccos..but dont mock one custom ..you dont single out one beleif and publicly disrespect it . . Quite offensive. Apart from that the manager/ owner was rude dissmissive all we wanted to know was if there were mushrooms on the dumplings .. as yes or no answer would have been less work . Instead we were told to leave .. . Awful
OMG don't trust everything you read on the Internet. Expensive and nothing to shout about. Walked out hungry and had to go for a burger. Yeah perhaps it's ok if you already had your fill with half dozen pints before meal. I almost wanted to hop over to the zzzz_tomato site to give a negative review.
Definitely one of the best bars on Chapel Street and always busy, especially during happy hour, espresso Martinis galore! I would also highly recommend there Sunday dinner, great value and food quality is high.
Great customer service and the price for the mystery box and what we got was absolutely amazing! You could not find that anywhere else. Would come here again, no doubt!
What we got for the price felt insulting. The food was almost non existent on the plate and it might have tasted good but I only got a mouthful, so its hard to really say. The service was very good, and the wine list was amazing, the bar was really buzzing and very busy, not much room to sit but a very nice vibe in the bar area. would seriously never eat here again though.
Such a great vibe, cool music, perfect location and excellent cocktails! If you're looking for a bar that ticks all these boxes where you can also glam up for, this is the one.
The food was delicious but was let down by inexperienced waitress. We had a laugh about it but if we have to ask for water 3 times that's not good. One beer came out but no glass of wine until another waiter came to check how we were going after the food started coming out. The waitress was only looking after our table of 2 and one other.
Renovations have now transformed the venue into opulent version and luxe atmosphere. Restaurant to right side, buzzing bar to the left then an open area towards the back containing booths, a couple of high tables and standing area between tables and chairs. They do have a great cocktail (passionfruit/white chocolate) I have always returned to, but really need to train new bartenders how to refine and maintain the standards and quality.
Restaurant itself over delivered several years ago, having said that, had no expectations on the food or atmosphere at the time so it was a nice experience and suprise to stumble on some years ago (4 course degustation). It had beckoned me to spread the word and return for semi-celebratory dinners and catch up for a tame night out.
Nowadays, following the attraction, the bar has become way too overcrowded. It's gone from bar atmosphere to 70% club. Music can get loud. Too much pushing and shoving from alcohol fuelled crowd and as a result the service has gone topsy turvy. On three occasions, even for the restaurant experience, I observe people are treated more like a guest who has to stand in line.
It has drawn in plenty of attention so great for their business and a suggestion for a night out, crowd quality know how to dress well but I will think twice before heading to such a busy venue. I liked it better when we weren't packed like sardines and preferred Morris keeping it under control and classy.
