Hosted dinner for 52(!) people. They were great to work with! Exceeded my expectations!! Great service, yummy food, loved the private room they gave us. The apple pie dessert was way too delicious! I had seconds. :-)

Wow! I had the catfish and a friend had the burger while another coworker had the meatloaf. We were all impressed by the entrees as well as the kale/cheese dip! Then came the bread pudding for dessert. Uh-mazing! The bread pudding was served hot and had melting vanilla ice cream on top with a healthy dollop of whip cream to boot! Yummmmyy.....I'm bringing my husband here the next time we're in Austin!
We went here last weekend for date night and it was great. The wait was well worth the food and drinks! You definitely get your money s worth on drinks at this place!
Went for the Sunday brunch. The wait time waa around an hour but we were given some sample beignets and ordered a margarita while we waited which they happily provided.
The breakfast food was overall pretty mediocre even for a buffet. The kolaches were bland and the eggs were flavorless. The buffet layout did more to hinder than help.
However the staff was amazing and the atmosphere was great. Similarly the dessert dishes were absolutely delicious. Overall I don't regret going once but I doubt I would return, especially given the $18.95 price tag
I love moonshine grill!! Easy valet parking, great food, awesome service and good times. I've ate everything one the menu and have never been disappointed
Was really crammed and popular. I was a little weirded out by the popcorn as something handed out as a free snack. Relatively pricey for most of the menu but the food wasn t too bad. My favorite was the fresh cooked vegetables.
Went with a party of 6 last night. Some locals and some friends from out of town and by the end of the meal everyone couldn't stop commenting about how amazing the food was. The food is the antithesis of health but you won't be complaining. You will just be remarking about how tasty it all is. The chicken fried steak is no joke the size of your head, it could feed 2-3, and it is incredible.
We came for New Year's brunch, we had some drinks at the outside bar then had the buffet. All the staff was super nice, but the buffet wasn't kept very warm. They also don't offer any kind of individualized egg options. It was nice that they had a buffet on New Year's though.
Handled my life threatening corn allergy with ease and the food was delicious. Many menu items that I could chose from that were wonderful sounding. The staff was perfect through a huge downpour and served me and my friend well.
I ve had dinner at Moonshine several times and probably will continue to do so. The atmosphere is comfortable and mostly casual. When the weather s nice, I like to sit outside because it s more open and relaxed. One thing that s unique More
Probably one of the best restaurants I ve been too. If there s a wait, it s worth it. Awesome wait staff; even better food. Thankfully my friends all got different plates so we could try each entree, all four of them were awesome!
Not a lot of Keto options, but the catfish with crawfish was delicious. There was a 30 min wait, but we were able to find a seat at the bar "downstairs"
An easy Austin go-to. Southern charm cooking with a little bit of something for everyone. My favorite part is always the appetizers- don't overlook them! The bacon dip is crazy good. And obviously, the moonshine. Also, they're accommodating to gluten free for those who need it.
Genuinely a wonderful restaurant! Their chicken fried steak with a chipotle sauce is a religious experience in dining. Great staff, beautiful facility and simply stunning food. It is an absolute MUST for anyone who loves great dining!
Great selection of whiskey and very nice environment. Moonshine is located in a historical texas building, ambience is awesome perfectly in resonance with the name. Our barman (young fellow, I wish I remembered his name) was really knowledgeable and helpful. He gave us great advice according to each one's taste and he wasn't just trying to push the most expensive drinks on the menu. Wait was about 45', right as promised. We were courteously seated and ordered food. The waiter was kind and professional. I had a glass of merlot (didn't record the name, 8- 9 $); that wine needs to be removed from the list. It was either an old bottle or just plain "puntalone" -name for bad wine in my hometown-. It smelled and tasted like cold Gluehwein. My bad for picking wine in a moonshine place. LOL. Then the food arrived, I was hungry so the wait seemed long, but understandable since the restaurant was packed. My chicken fried steak was pretty bad, meat tasted like fish and the batter was stony more then crunchy. It tasted like frozen restaurant depot food. The rosemary fries -catchy name BTW- were hard and dry, didn't taste like rosemary or nothing. I would have sent the food back to the bin, where it belonged, had I not been invited there by my sr. managers. Bar and location deserve 5 stars, average with 0 star food and you get a 2.5 stars. I definitely won't take my gf there since no one at the table was really impressed with food. Maybe I should stick with liquid grain calories only if my boss invites us the team there again.
No matter what, there will always be a 1+ hour wait here, any day at any regular meal time, thanks to it's proximity to downtown and the convention center. You can get apps and drinks on the bar which is nice while you wait. The popcorn snack is awesome as are the moonshine drinks. Food is hit or miss but overall pretty good and gluttonous in a food way.
The food is excellent but the true gem here is the service. The menu is relatively simple. From meatloaf and chicken fried steaks to seared trout and my personal favorite, the shrimp and grits. Each dish was simple, fresh, and expertly prepared. Our group of 16 firefighters from Montana walked through the doors without calling ahead near the beginning of the dinner rush. The restaurant staff was already setting up for two large Christmas parties and the activity was frenzied. Despite all that was happening we were welcomed in and greeted with pleasant smiles, popcorn, drinks and conversation while they set up a dining area for us. We were seated easily within ten minutes. Our server was delightful. She suggested her favorites from the menu and even offered ideas about some off menu items (amazing fried pickled asparagus). The drinks were well prepared including a banana nut bread moonshine that even served neat, was like a smoldering dessert. The Moonshine Grill provided the best dining experience that I can remember. The hospitality is genuine. The atmosphere is eclectic, relaxed and comfortable. Youwont be disappointed.
From start to finish, Moonshine Grill was 100%. I was greeted by a friendly hostess and the general manager (at 9:30pm on a Friday night). After a pleasant conversation and whiskey recommendation, I made my way to the bar to get said whiskey. The bartender was efficient and attentive. I stayed for dinner, the artichoke chicken, i forget what its actually called and it was perfectly light and delicious. The staff checked in throughout the meal, making sure everything was as expected. I live on the road and had been to nearly a half dozen places before this one thus evening looking for what I found here. Great food, great service, great drinks, and sincere and knowledgeable management. Thank you Moonshine grill.
One of the best eateries in downtown Austin you can visit. Great service and even better food. Sunday they have an all you can eat brunch special...get the chicken and waffles and the cheese grits.
The Fire place outside and Macaroni and cheese and a pint inside are just perfect on a cold day like this. Right this second all I can do is think about it. I want to be there right now!
So my server quit or left mid-way through so that kinda tanked the service bc I had to wait 15 mins for a drink.
Looking past that the drinks were awesome. Had a moonshine infused drink and it was delicious. Happy hour was what made it for me, took some drink prices more than 50% off.
They have the best macaroni and cheese! I order to pick it up often. I enjoy dining at Moonshine because the menu has a wide variety of options to choose from, it's decently priced, and their brunch on Sundays are AMAZING.
The steak was tremendous. Service was fantastic. We sat in the enclosed patio. Never would have known it was 40 degrees outside. It's a very big place and the food comes out quick.
I do really enjoy this place - consistently great food and lovely atmosphere. However, my last visit, upon asking what was in their seasonal salad, the waitress could not tell nor did she offer to find out. Luckily I'm an adventurous eater and ordered it anyway (it was delicious!) but waitstaff should be a bit more helpful.
Highly recommend! Great food... wish they had a tap; did not clearly advertise that the beer was canned. However, food was great and they had free popcorn. Staff was wonderful and accommodating (stored our suitcases in the cellar while we ate).
This place is amazing. We had a wedding luncheon here and the food was perfect, wait staff wonderful and the atmosphere was great in the Sunday Room. Highly recommended!
On a Friday night took about 30 minutes to be seated which is not too bad. Large patios with most seating outside. They have tons of fans and portable ACs. Food was pretty good and came with large portions. Service was slow and server seemed uninterested.
Amazing buffet brunch on Sundays. Favorites were the fried chicken strips, green chili cheese grits, cute little bisquits and the cranberry muffins. So many options from fruit, pastries, salads, casseroles, and meat.
The service was top notch. Everyone we encountered was involved and personable. The food was some of the best we ve had. We dine out a lot. I highly recommend this place.
Fantastic brunch! Great service even though they are always super busy. Delicious food. Expect to wait for over an hour for a table but it's totally worth it.
Nothing lacking here. Indoor and covered, outdoor seating as well as a firepit area and outdoor access to a bar. The menu is loaded with amazing food that panders to a traditionalist with an inner foodie. Example, the fried green tomatoes and the shrimp o a stick with cornbread breading with blueberry and mustard dipping sauce. A-mazing. My steak salad was very fresh and the steak on it was perfect. Very attentive staff and a pet friendly patio. Just relaxing good old southern comfort in the middle of town. Can't wait to go back!
Great food. Had the chicken fried steak and mash potatoes. It was very good. Wife had the cheese burger and sweet potato fries. She enjoyed it as well. Friendly staff. Must try the moonshine flight.
The food and service was great, well worth the hour and half wait. Even by the time we're seated at 9:20 the restaurant was loud. My only complaint was that management did nothing to ask the table of dunk men to lower there voices even slightly. I'm all for people having a good time but in this portion of the dining room you could not have a conversation. Old rock walls and wood ceiling do nothing to dampen noise. My suggestion get there early and ask to sit outside.
Delicious! The calamari is meaty strips of lightly breaded squid w a thick, spicy sauce. The chicken sandwich & pork sandwich are both outstanding with interesting (not in a weird way) flavors/ingredients. Be prepared, they are a bit messy!
I can't give this place enough stars. It was the best place I ate at in Austin. Everything I tried was beyond top notch. I have the Chicken and Waffles and it just blew me away. They do not shy away from seasoning and it was savory and sweet, crispy chicken and flakey corn bread waffles with a soft fluffy inside. Syrup and gravy. It was just so much going on that all complimented each other. I tried the Chicken Fried Steak, and again, amazing. If I had more time in Austin, I would have gone back, for sure.
