Chicken and waffles not so good. Stale and over cooked
Fun spot to meet up with friends in downtown Austin. Service was great and portions are very generous. Best Friend Green Tomatoes I've had in a long time!
Great southern food and cocktails. Chicken fried steak, fried chicken salad, roasted garlic bulbs, kale and gruyere dip were all delicious!
Great chicken and waffles, and the desserts were very good.
Great bar, large whiskey and bourbon selection. Great brunch or dinner
Nice food ordered for an fried calamari and it was served in large proportion good enough for 2 people , The salmon was tasty as well but felt it to be a bit pricy
Food was good. Southern comfort food is the theme. While I had a burger, others in my party had the waffles and chicken which looked amazing and they said had a little kick to the chicken and the shrimp and grits looked good as well. The appetizers were good. Expect a wait for a table. It appears that the place is usually slammed for dinner and doesn't take reservations.
Good food good bar,It is crowded which speaks volumes for its standing in the neighborhood.
Awesome happy hour cocktail and appetizer deals. Very generous portions of very heavy food. Would've loved to see more vegetarian/vegan options.
Moonshine has delicious, comfort food in a laid back atmosphere. I've dined at Moonshine 5+ times and I can't remember ever having a dish I didn't love. Everything is delicious. Recommend: Warm Kale and bacon dip, catfish, mac and cheese, hangar steak, and apple crisp skillet
I came here for the third time and had their brunch for the first time and I enjoyed it very much. The food is always excellent. Definitely a place to visit when in Austin.
Great food! We had a group of 30-40 people & they were able to accomodate us in a private room. They set up a buffet with a great variety. The staff had great personalities & were so fun! Shout out to Charles!
Great southern cooking. Grab a drink with friends and warm up on the patio by the fireplace.
Went here for an office dinner. It was totally awkward, but that wasn't the restaurant's fault. The green chile mac & cheese was excellent, possibly the best I have had around here.
Definitely the best weekend brunch buffet in town, although it's pricey and there's always quite a wait. Their happy hours are pretty good and reasonably priced. They also have a good sized, separate private room for showers and other parties, that I think fits 30-40 people.
Amazing place with great food and great service!! Highly recommend! The desserts are tondie for and portion sizes are definitely worthy of Texas name!
Beautiful historic building, wonderful food, and exceptional service.
All the dishes are yummy and big portions. Pro tip: if you're eating with somebody else, split the entree and get 2 extra sides for a small additional cost
Loved being on the patio. The popcorn is the best table starter of all time, loved the spicy red stuff on top. Our waitress Sam was fantastic. She couldn't be any better if she tried. We decided on the chicken fried steak and the jalapeno hanger steak with pimiento mac and cheese, it was amazing. My hat goes off to the chef. Thank you for the amazing meal on my mom's 58th birthday. We will be back.
Long wait for a Sunday brunch but it was worth it for the experience. And excellent selection of southern comfort foods buffet style.
Delicious food and fantastic setting. We are out on the patio and the atmosphere was right on.
Huge portions, amazing quality, great atmosphere, be prepared for a bit of a wait as it always seems to be popping.
Everything tastes amazing and the service was great. Cody provided us with the best food recommendations.
Everyone was social distanced, wearing masks, and courteous. The restaurant was very clean and well kept.
The fact they had seasoned to snack on made my day (since I love it so much). Highly recommend happy hour $5 drinks and discounted appetizers. Pictures is the kale & bacon dip and the fried calamari. Both were amazing, first calamari that was thick and juicy! Brought our dogs with us and the server brought us water as well as the dogs. So thoughtful and will definatley be back
Great atmosphere and service, but the food is just alright. Not much to write home about.
I can NOT stress how WONDERFUL the food was, how friendly and welcoming the staff was, and how
Great food. Pleasant vibe. Will go back again for sure. But it just felt like my family and I were being rushed.
When it comes to food and moonshine they've done it right here.
This place gets crowded for a reason!
The parking is street only or valet, you might be lucky to find a spot or you can just give in and do the valet. There is most likely going to be a wait for seating, but it's totally worth it. The brunch time gets the craziest here, so make sure to plan ahead of time and go accordingly.
The food is delicious, I love the pretzel appetizer, and the warm bacon dip are amazing. I think the pretzels should be served with the bacon dip as well. It's the soft pretzel sticks and it's pretty awesome. I recommend getting that for sure. The bring out their house made chips as well and those are delicious too of course. We ordered the chicken and waffles, the mac and cheese, and this pork pork sandwich special that was going on that day. The mac and cheese is really good, but very non-traditional, it has corn in it. But I really enjoyed that one the best. The chicken and waffles were good, but I feel like you can't go wrong there. The chicken are chicken tenders and you get 3 to the order. The pork pork sandwich was my least favorite, but it's not a normal item anyways so I should have known better. The red beans and rice side was really good and flavorful. The seasonal vegetables I felt could have been cooked a little longer, they were still a little raw. The cornbread is awesome just like the house chips. We got the peanut butter moose for dessert and that was amazing, and goodness the portion size on that is crazy for $5! Totally worth it.
The server we had was amazing, she was super nice and very friendly and happy. She had a large table of 15 come in but she was still as attentive as she was before. I definitely give this place 5 stars for service alone. She was awesome, never did my drink go empty. She had an awesome personality. I wish I would remember her name right now but I drew a blank.
I love this place and would highly recommend it to people visiting as well as a place to grad dinner on the regular.
Definitely coming back. Had one of the best spicy margaritas with lots of jalapeno. The Hangar Steak was cooked as good as I have ever had and their green chili grits were very good!
Great service, fun atmosphere, solid food and beverage. No complaints.
Food was decent. Nothing to write home about. Great location and cute place though!
Comfort food extraordinaire! All I can say is WOW!
Really good we did dinner and breakfast on our over night stay in Austin. It was walking distance from our Hotel!
Every appetizer we had was delicious. We ordered about 5 of them. Our waiter was great too. Had a wonderful time.
While the Sunday brunch may be a bit overhyped, their regular menu is where it's at! Try the cornflake crusted chicken salad--delicious.
Had the gumbo and sweet potato fries. This was a good portion size. My companion had the macaroni and cheese and couldn't finish, but all was delicious. The vodka lemonade (Tito's; this is Austin after all) was excellent. Being walking distance from the convention center was a big plus.
Really nice atmosphere - great for an unpretentious date. Food is fantastic.
Wow, fantastic place. Great happy hour, 4 to 6 min through fri.
Mannnn... This place is good. Ok, so first the bad stuff: no reservations means the wait is always kinda bad. We waited 1.5 hours. The bar isn't super cheap, either. Everything else is good: from the calamari to the spicy popcorn to the ribs to the cheesy grits... You're going to love your dinner here, once you get a table.
Delicious food and lovely atmosphere. Kind and helpful staff. The calamari was tender and perfectly fried, the southern belle cocktail was so fresh and fruity, and I loved the horseradish crusted salmon and brussels sprouts.
Really enjoyed this place, food fantastic as well as the device. Definitely so much better on the inside than outside
Friendly staff with a lot of space. Usually there is a lot of people there so advice is to make reservations before you randomly visit the place. The place is famous for grill. There are 3 outside patios and one extra for private parties. Beside they also have 2 bars with high chairs. The place is accessible for the wheel chair users. Enjoy your stay here.
Nice environment. Enthusiastic staff. Main entre came quickly. I had chicken n waffles. Everything is made from scratch, down to the sauces.
The place was phenomenal! Our waiter was excellent, the food was spectacular, and it was kid friendly! I will definitely go to Moonshine Grill every time we come to Austin.
Great service and amazing food. We had chicken and waffles, fried green, and ribs. All of it was excellent.
Really enjoyed dining here. Service was excellent and they were accommodating since we brought our two dogs with us. They gave them bowls of water as soon as we sat down. They found us a good table away from people to make us feel at ease. The food was delicious and portions were fair. Would definitely return!
First time here and I'm ashamed to admit this since we're in Austin regularly. Everything was absolutely delicious!! My bourbon slush was by the far the best frozen drink I've had in 2020 and I don't even like Bourbon. I'll be back for sure!!
Very good food. Big portions. A little pricey but worth it.
Everything here was phenomenal! I had the red snapper special and the mac and cheese. I don't think I've had better cheese in my life. I would come back to Austin just to have this food again!
Delicious food. A tasty Blind Mule. Wonderful craft cocktails, great wine and beer list, and what a whiskey selection! And when I was here, the two bartenders were exceptional: friendly, quick and knowledgeable about both the drink and the food!
Oh, and with 3 courses and 3 cocktails it was less $$ than my less-than-average room service last night!!
Always the Best! Plus use valet parking, totally worth it!
Great Southern comfort food! We lived in Louisiana for many years, so I was happy to see a couple of Cajun dishes in the menu - I wasn't disappointed. Servings have good sizes and reasonable prices.
Food was amazing service was amazing....the hanger steak is a def must try
The food was great and the drinks were good. The wait was really really long. The staff seemed pretty stressed and they let it show in their attitudes.
We love this place. Food is always exceptional, and always great service. Probably the most tender, delicious chicken fried steak I've ever had.
Good food good drinks, good staff. Expect LARGE portions. Not the place if you're looking for a light meal.
Wonderful dining experience in a beautiful setting. Pimento Cheeseburger was delectable. Happy Hour drink specials were on point. Our waitress was kind, attentive and full of great ideas for us to do in Austin. She was very pregnant and had lots of patience. Job well done!
ummm... epically & always amazing! Try their brunch but make sure to get there early!
Fast service, food was tasty, beer was cold. Gave 4 instead of 5 because my teenager had a hard time finding something in the menu she liked
Great service and good food made for a solid 4th of July dinner with family!
Great menu and staff. Food was beautiful and restaurant looks great
This restaurant came as a recommendation and I highly recommend to you! The chicken almondine and bread pudding were amazing!
The apple pie was so yummy! Didn't expect the pie to come in a cast iron pan but it was so awesome! The friend green tomatoes are the best.
This spot is a must. Several unique and flavorful offerings here. Unless you arrive when they first open, be prepared to wait at least a little while.
