Very helpful and friendly staff available to help you. There's quite bit of regulars there too which makes it pretty easy to just ask anyone for help if you're having trouble. 3 Floors of fabric goodness!

LOVE this store. As a kid, we had a neighborhood store called Village Barn that had everything from hardware, to household items, to fun little toys/ knick knacks for kids. Cliff's reminds me of that store, only 4 times the size... which means lots more fun to be had by all!
Stopped there when I m NY last year and had to visit as live Project Runway and walked past it every day. Was cool to see Swatch and the place. Actually was interested in some fabric, but had a hard time getting help as the staff was too busy dissing about some school group that had been in there. Guess I looked like the tourist I was.
Five stars for the man who lit a swatch on fire, blew it out, and identified the fabric content and price BY SMELL for an unlabeled roll. Love this place.
Went here for their sewing, draping and illustration classes.I registered a couple of times but could never finish for health issues but i lived the experience! If youre a fabric lover like me,you wpuld totally lose yourself in the aisles...Yards and yards of beauty everywhere!!!!!!You can get affordable stuff as well as really high end fabric and notions here!!
The fabrics and the place is incredible, although only the girls who work there and are Latinas treated me well, most of the other workers treated me very badly, they did not pay attention to me and the different treatment was very noticeable because I was a foreigner. Although I bought many incredible fabrics in this store I would not recommend it and would look for more options before returning to that place due to the treatment
Outstanding selection of fabrics, but the most terrible customer service I've ever had in retail. The cashier didn't so much as look at me or speak to me. Employees on the store floor could be heard openly complaining about customers. Keep it for the back room, folks! Is it worth putting up terrible service for a trip to Mood? Yes, it's still an amazing store!
We came in at the last few minutes before closing and was thankful they let us in. As a fan of PR, I just wanted to experience the store for a couple minutes and buy my t-shirt. They are very used to tourists and offered to take our picture. I loved that friendliness. They have a lot of cute t-shirts to choose from, and a fun store to visit!
If you love fabric, buttons, trims and Project Runway then this place is a must. Even the dog is adorable! There is an interiors and Furnishings store at ground level and the fashion section is next door and up in the lift
The holy grail that is Mood. Do they have various options for fabric and trim? yes. I've visited the shop in person and almost anything you can imagine is there. HOWEVER, ordering online is a different story. Their online customer service is consistently inconsistent. It takes a long time for orders to leave the warehouse no matter how early you may order something. Shipping is ridiculous in comparison to other online competitor fabric shops, and you can't return any cut fabric even if it's unopened. So you better know for sure whether you want something or not and hopefully you're not in a rush to get it, b/c there's no flexibility here!
Very nice and friendly at the door, they will direct you and help you find what you re looking for. However, ask someone who s job is to give you swatches and help in the actual fabric area and they ll give you side eye/it ll show they hate you for asking them to do something. Also, the prices are expensive compared to all other stores in the area. So go in for the experience, just shop around the Garment district first before making a purchase here!
Bought blue print cotton fabric. Faded completely after first wash, Mood customer service was unhelpful and harsh, no refund or credit, they don't seem to care much for their customers.
Mood NY may be a great place for local designers, but don't try to get help from one of their representatives if you don't live in the area. Joe in the necktie silks refused to look at their current inventory for a pattern I need for a custom job. I'm out of Chicago, so I can't drop by the store to look around in person.
Bad service from every employee, don't know where their products are in the store and don't care, and tried to make me pay for extra item because cashier scanned one item twice. I was trying to get DMC floss for embroidery and it was my first time here. I asked about three employees because it was almost closing soon and didn't want to waste time looking for it. None of the workers knew what I was talking about and one of them even told me they didn't carry it. Frustated I walked around looking for it because the website said they carried it. I found the section and it was in such disarray and they didn't even carry more than half of the colors on the rack. The cashier seemed not too happy to check my items out. She clearly scanned one of my items twice and tried to play it off by pretending like I had 10 items and not 9. She was like, "You got 10 items right?" Right after scanning the item twice. I asked her to count again and turns out I have 9. Like, please remove that extra item. Not a good experience.
Huge fabric selection, can get crowded on the weekend. Informative staff. Tons of lace, buttons, snaps, sewing supplies, sewing classes, leather, interior design department on the street level. Worth a trip to check out quality selection of everything sewing related.
It's like a candy store for seamstresses. Someone in every aisle to help you find what your looking for. Not easily seen from the street - take the elevators up and you'll find it.
I am a first time buyer and will never buy here again. I ordered a pattern paper roll and found a bigger size roll on WAWAK for half the price. I cancelled the order as soon as i placed it and it was still shipped to me and was a hassle to return (they do not send a return label with their shipment, they ship through fedex but returns are gone through ups, it took 3 days for customer service to send me a label, customer service rep hangs up on you, etc). Its been over a month and i have not received my refund. Ive been calling and emailing them for the past month. I'm currently on hold with them for over an hour. PLEASE DO NOT SHOP HERE.
There is a lot here, but it s a bit disorganized and hard to find what you want. Also the stock in the store doesn t correspond at all to the website. It is still a great selection though.
Amazing frabric if u like bulk ND great clothes premade as well . Amazing eclectic styles , great staff to help you find just what you want. Located in the famous garment district near 7th Avenue in New York City Manhattan check it out if you're in town
By far the worst customer service I have encountered in any of the many stories that through people are way too uppity and nobody wants the Home Depot and trying to find someone to in finding a 2 inch elastic and a 1 inch elastic and I was boldly told to my face you going to have to "find it yourself amongst all the many different sizes good luck" I'll take my business to 39th Street
Please ask for Errick on your next visit to the 2nd floor. He is the most informative ,kind gentleman in the whole store, He makes every visit so enjoyable , hos expedience in what he is doing, He is just amazing ,Thanks mood.
It was a dream to visit him. Always watch it on TV and now being able to see the place in person was sub-real. Excellent staff and very attentive with their clientele. It does not get very crowded and it is very spacious to go and visit it if you are just a fan. The variety of fabrics is wide and its new section for homes is one of dying.
"Thank you Mood!" It definitely lives up to expectations. Google maps will direct you to the home fabrics store, and the fashion fabrics store is on the third floor of the building next door. I got to meet swatch too!
I head to Mood every time I'm in NY to stock up on fabric and am never disappointed. This time, I tried the new Mood Home that's next door for upholstery and decor fabrics. LOVED it. The staff there was so helpful and genuinely interested in what we were working on/looking for. I found exactly what I needed.
My niece found her material & supplies for her prom dress. It was very crowded, but some of the employees acted like, they were too tired, or busy, to work with customers
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I purchased organza fabric based on website photos which were completely different than the actual color. I called customer service (Mike) and was asked to send an email with photos of the color. I did as requested immediately but heard NOTHING. I followed up a few days later - NOTHING. Finally, a week later I called, spoke with Eric who put me on hold for 10 minutes to tell me that Mike will be forwarding the email to a department who can assist. VERY disappointed with my online experience and subsequent customer service.
Biggest selection, with the best quality. Mood definitely lives up to it s good reputation. Mood is always the best place to start. As a designer, Mood fabrics is always my first recommendation.
Gorgeous space, amazing/inspiring blog/website, and even better customer service, responding to emails at all hours; very helpful and friendly. I've bought some of my favorite yarn ever in the shop and make sure to visit whenever I'm even remotely nearby. Slightly pricey, but with such a thorough website it's not like there are really any surprises.
Great amount of options but I would wish for a better organisation of the fabric rolls. Some of them really had nothing to do with one another in the faux-leather part.
Loved Mood! It is absolutely heaven for anyone into textiles, design, sewing, and of course, Project Runway!! Any type of fabric you could want is here and inspiration for your own project is on every shelf! The employees are very helpful too!! Bonus --- I had a chance to have my picture taken with the shop mascot -- Swatch!! :)
