3 floors of goodness. You can walk up the stairs or take the elevator. I took the elevator to 3rd floor where bag check is right by the entrance. I couldn't find what I was here for and also the folks working there while nice were not able to assist me in looking for a specific type of fabric.

Everything is laid out neatly and brightly lit. Clean store and not musty. There's a number of trim and accessories items on the 3rd floor near the checkout counter. There's also tools also and so it's a nice one stop shop but you might not find exactly what you're looking for.

In the end I went across the street to a smaller store, Fabric World and found what I was looking for in 2 colors.

My request for the taurus that come to mood.
1. This is not a place to have a birthday party
2. This is not a place to have a bachelorette party
3. Do not block the side walk because you just came from Mood.
4. When using the revolving door there is 1 person at a time.
5. Don t block the door.
6. The garment district is a place people work not Walt Disney World.
So what I am saying is please be respect full for the people around you.

The place is in an office building. Once you step off the elevator you step into the wonderful world of fabric. My mother made clothes for us as youngsters, now my daughter has taken up that mantle. I was amazed at the selection of fabrics, and the service is totally amazing even if you know nothing about sewing you will enjoy being here.

I can't even get anyone to call me back. Most of their good stuff online is
sold out and when you ask when/if they're getting it back in (we're talking poplin, nothing super fancy) I was given the runaround. Dealt with their online chat and the person had no idea when or if the fabric would be back in stock. I'm sure they have gorgeous things in their NY store, but being 3,000 miles away with a lousy online presence and terrible customer service is frustrating.

It is open on Saturday! The staff is knowledgeable. They also have small fabric swatches you can take home. It is really helpful as they offer upholstery fabric and you want to see how it matches with your home.

They have a large selection of tie silk here--3 feet wide, floor to ceiling. Minimum half yard, and reasonable prices. Very helpful, friendly staff. The shop dog is named Swatch, and he's very friendly.
Enter the arcade next to Mood Home and take the elevator to the 3rd floor.

There are a million fabric shops, and Mood has by far the best selection. Absolutely.

Now, for a shop that sells itself on having it all, they lack a lot of even basic technical fabrics that you'll need if you're working on a project that will be used for more than display purposes.

There is nothing in the way of DWR treated nylon, good wools without weird patterns, or anything you'd use on a project.

The colored leathers are not usable for anything other than mocking up (meaning they'll rub their dyes all over everything they touch - you can't seal these unless you want it to feel like plastic).

terrible online store. It took them 12 days to ship my order. There was no email informing about the delay and when I reached the customer service the attendant just said it was on its way and ended the "call" by redirecting me to a survey

I wanted to visit this store because it's so famous and all my favorite sewing bloggers get their fabrics here. I found it to be overwhelming and difficult to navigate. While the fabrics were beautiful, they are on 60" roll bolts so it's tough to look through them. For fabrics like Liberty of London, you can't tell from the rolled up fabric end what it will look like. Some customers were struggling to even pull the bolts out and had to get help.

There also didn't appear to be pricing on some bolts, the buttons or a lot of the trims. It seems like an awesome place to go if you are making a more artistic project, but for a casual sewer it wasn't great. I ended up getting one cut of fabric, but for any future purchases, online will be the way to go.

I'm so torn about Mood. They used to be better. I think project runway went to their heads or something. The staff have changed a lot and no one seems happy to be there. That being said, the selection is great and most prices are reasonable.

Consistently very slow to ship orders out, even though website says "fast shipping". We run a small business that relies on fabrics being delivered in a reasonable time period. Mood often takes a full week for the order to even leave their warehouse. Won't work with me when I call them asking them to please ship my order and tells me I should have paid for expedited shipping. This is 2017 (the age of Amazon). I shouldn't have to pay $60+ extra for you to get my order on its way to me! We won't keep ordering from you if you don't resolve this!

Edit: got in contact with owner and he straightened it out and got our fabric shipped. Fingers crossed things will go smoother next time around.

Mood is everything you hope it will be, if you're a Project Runway fan. I am, and had the pleasure of taking a beginner's sewing class here, which was absolutely loads of fun. My classmates were all very friendly, and it was a tremendous pleasure to come learn a new skill once a week. Mood itself is just an amazing place, full of every kind of fabric and notion you can imagine, googly-eyed tourists, makers of all kinds, and Swatch the mascot dog. A geat vibe, a great store!

Came here on a weekday - the place was not crowded at all. A wide range of various fabrics available. I was mainly interested in the selection of the linen fabrics and found it quite broad. The personnel was available to cut out the necessary swatches and answered all my questions. Overall - nice experience.

I'd give it a 4.5. Tons of great fabric. Excellent selection. Shaved off a half star b/c it's not the easiest place to get assistance. I actually wandered around aimlessly between floors and watched another more seasoned customer seek someone out for help. Tough learning the lay of the land as a newbie. Cashier and bag check person were the friendliest at the store.

Fairly priced store with the largest selection of fabrics imaginable, as well as tools and sewing notions. They offer sewing classes, too. Delightful place to stock up on all things necessary for sewing or fabric-based crafts.

If you have unlimited funds, MOOD Fabrics is the place to shop. It's iconic. Every possible fabric one can think of is stocked here. But alas I shop at my favorite fabric shop in Brooklyn.

Huge selection of fabrics to choose from and the staff are knowledgeable without being overbearing. It was a bit hard to find because they have an upholstery store at street level; just go in the revolving doors to the right and up to the third floor to find the main shop. Great experience but didn't see their dog, Swatch. Maybe next time

I can not say enough about this place. They have every type of material imaginable, amd if you can't find it here, then you'll have to create your own. ...but that's ok by me, I love the inspirational creative space I'm in when I visit MOOD.

Their online store is constantly buggy, their estimated shipping times are false and they refuse to acknowledge the misleading information on their website, when they run their promotions it prevents any international orders from being made and their customer service by Glenda (on two occasions I had the misfortune of ending up with this unhelpful person, which might also possibly just be a false identity for their customer service reps) is so subpar that it's a joke. Come on, it's almost 2020. If you can't accommodate international or online orders, fix it or don't have an online store.

Wow

Going to Mood Fabrics is like going to the Library of Congress of Textiles . I couldn t agree more with TIM GUNN. This is my favorite fabric store in the garment district and always my first stop anytime i visit NYC. This world most famous fabric store is a fabric haven with all types of designer fabrics, varieties of trimmings and tailoring supplies. I highly recommend to all existing and aspiring fashion designers, seamstresses, tourists, locals and all fashion lovers. I get so INSPIRED each and every time i visit the store. And yes, I ve had the opportunity to see Swatch the dog in the store a couple of times. I just LOVE Mood Fabrics!!!

If you like project runway, you need to visit here. Although, if you intend to buy a lot of fabric, there are cheaper options in the garment district. You can ask for a swatch of most fabrics. There are definitely times of the day that are better to visit, on my last visit I came an hour before closing and it wasn t too busy.

I am a Project Runway fan and made sure to stop by Mood while on vacation recently. It was a little tricky to find, but once we did we were met by warm, helpful and lovely employees. From the adorable greeter at the door, to the staff at the various department stations and the checkout staff, every single employee treated us wonderfully. They were all, without exception, welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful and patient. We had so much fun looking around. It is a gorgeous store stocked with endless quality fabrics and notions. It was definitely a real bright spot on our fabulous vacation. It would have been perfect if we had met Swatch, but he had already left for the day. Thank you Mood! I will treasure my purchases, and will definitely be back! xoxoxo

So I visited in person last week. Fabulous place lots of fabrics to choose from. The customer service could have a little better. I wanted some faux fur cut and waited for over 15 minutes for the fellow to return back to the department. No one came to help so I grabbed the bolt and went looking for a table to have it cut. I was stopped by the same person ( black guy with dreads) who left the area I was in. I was told that fur can only be cut in the back. When I told him how long I had waited with no assistance he said "Well I'm busy!!" I didn't think that was a professional response so I left all my intended purchases right there and bought nothing. I returned home and ordered online instead.. much better experience. My fabrics were delivered in less than 48 hours. I did get to meet Swatch while at mood so the trip wasn't a total bust. I wish my first time there was better. But oh well .
