worst service ever!!!! so slow and delayed response! Me and my partner went overseas, and we received 3 infringement tickets during that time. And neighbour told us about it, then my partner called from overseas disputing it. Actually we registered and paid for our paring permit, and we were suprised that how come we still get those tickets. But anyway, we contacted them on 19th of June. Until 19th of July, we got overdue payment notice. Then we called them 3 times, and call center let us wait for the earlier response letter which was send out on 12th of July, but we contacted them on 19th of June, nearly 1 month. Until after i called them again, the response letter finally got in my hand. I was shocked to see in this letter, it is another payment notice and my authority to reply on earlier's requests from my partner's email (19th of June). I am so annoyed and upset. We have paied already, but because of their system, we have been through it over a month. We were so annoyed with that. We are still waiting for it !

Had to wait 45 mins for the next one, this morning at a bus was suppose to be there at 9.10am never turned also. Seen bus drivers blocking emergency service vehicles too. A uber or driving is the most reliable way to get anywhere.

This in response to the many negative reviews about AT.

You re welcome. You forget that you are in NZ, where everything runs at its own pace. Not yours. Relax, take a chill pill and things will happen or fall into place when they should.

If you need to get somewhere quick, there are other options. Taxis and Uber. Or car pool.

Find a way. I m quite sure you guys have never had it this good. What s a missed bus or train schedule?

You are where you are supposed to be.

On a personal note, my experience with AT has always been great. Maybe it s because I don t really rely on an entity to control my transportation needs?

This review is coming from a person who has lived here long enough to appreciate the pros and cons of the way of life here.

Yes, I know. Many of you have pictures in your mind of the manner a first world country should operate. Alas, this is island life. Stress free (you want this, move to the Americas lol) and chilled.

I was at school and I was going to go on the school bus. The bus was late by around 15 minutes. Some kids have other things to do after school. Some kids need to get home ASAP. The teachers and students all thought that the bus wasn't coming. A teacher told the bus driver that everyone thought that he wasn't coming and he just chuckled. The bus ride also wasn't that pleasant. Always really bumpy and makes me nauseous.

UPDATE:
My friend went on a school bus and it was late for nearly 1 hour.

Occasionally AT trains may get cancelled for various reasons, but overall they have been alright for me. Instead of paying $25/day parking in the city, taking public transport costs me $10. It also offers a fun walk to the bus stop and a relaxing reading time on the train.

Trains are always late on the western line and I am not exaggerating. They are a l w a y s late. And some get cancelled without notice but the train supervisors can't wait 5 seconds for someone running to get on. And from my experience customer service is terrible on the bus. Some bus driver once drived straight pass my bus stop with 5 students waiting and smiled at us. Way to go grown up adult. Good job on making students waste 20 minutes of their life waiting for the next bus. And some buses just don't come. No notification on the auckland transport app or anything. They just don't come. Overall, I recommend that you don't use Auckland transport if you don't need to, and if you have an important interview or whatever you're better off catching an uber, I'm speaking from experience.

The service either continuously runs late/too early or no shows on various routes. Rarely on time. The amount I have had to spend on uber or alternative routes in the last few weeks is a joke. The worst transportation system I had ever used across the world.

Auckland Transport are out of control and are ruining Auckland for businesses and car drivers. They extend paid parking further and further and soon will demand payment for owning a car. Their so called public transport is a disgrace

Danny Devito: "I want you to hang up, call me back, and say the exact opposite of what you just said." Sooo...Auckland buses are frequent, reliable, and efficient; drivers are friendly; bus fares are inexpensive.....
I've had an experience of being threatened by a thuggish driver who made sure that I was alone on the bus. While we were making a report at the police station, another family came in who had been run off the road by a different bus driver.
Many, many times, the ferry buses fail to pick up their passengers. Apparently it's known as a "drop 'n' run". The bus may disgorge its passengers who are travelling by ferry across to town; but it will fail to wait for the disembarking ferry passengers. Actually that's not so bad. About 15-20% of the time, you're waiting at the ferry terminal for a connecting bus that doesn't bother to show up at all.
When you make a complaint about any of this stuff on the athop customer service line, they are polite at all times, god bless 'em. But nothing ever changes. Travelling by public transport in Auckland, especially buses; well it's a cr*pshoot really. And you need convenience, efficiency and reliability. Otherwise it's just less hassle to take the car.

Stop 8600 bus 295, can it ever be on time during peak hour? Is it acceptable that ppl have to wait for more than 45 minutes for a bus? Shouldn't it be better service to serve the public during peak hour?
Oh...peak hour, how could you expect it to be on time?!
Ok...then why even the real time board lies!Where
those rubbish info comes from? Where those buses that showing due in 10 mins, due in 5 minutes gone? Lost in Bermuda Triangle?!

Terrible reliability, often the scheduled bus never even shows up at all or is incredibly late. At least most of the time the drivers are really friendly and kind.

Also, some of the older buses are in terrible condition, belching polluting smoke, with cramped, dingy, uncomfortable interiors. These really need to be put out of service or overhauled with better access and interiors.

They once took money off my Hop Card, which left me stuck in Auckland Central, with no way home at 10pm. I asked for a refund and they never gave it back to me. Also one time my Hop card randomly stopped working when I went to go Tag on (there was money on the card it just wasn't tagging on) and the bus driver was really rude and said I had to get off the bus and wasn't aloud a free ride. Also another time, I went to go hop on the Bus at Albany Station and I was 2 meters from the bus and the driver closed the doors. He was still at a stand still when I looked at him and guested to see if he could open the doors. He looked at me and started driving off. I then knocked on the door, and he guested for me to catch the next bus???? super rude and they charge so much for a such a poor service.

On some days I take 3 buses to get from Browns bay to Parnell. NZ1 bus service has improved a lot as have been on this bus for 10years now. The double decker buses and more frequent service is good. There seems to be an issue with the Green 'Link' bus from Britomart. There needs to be more buses between 8 and 9am as they are sometimes 20mins apart and you have 20+people waiting for a tiny bus that has no space. More frequent service would be better for this link bus as Auckland continues to grow!

The Front Line staff I've interacted with across t...

The Front Line staff I've interacted with across the rather broad range of Divisions that AT cover have been largely reasonable to deal with.

In the broader organization though, in terms of Getting Auckland Moving I struggle to convince myself that we are getting anywhere near the best value from our rates overall particularly given what has been achieved in the last couple of decades. Concerns include (but not limited to)...

- The amount of bloated bureaucracy, H&S shenanigans and excessive senior level salaries hamstringing development. It is well past Time to open the books and see where our ratepayer dollars are actually going.

- I don't know if this is largely AT's fault, their contractors or both, but Roadworks are often carried out excruciatingly slowly and the length often runs past even the worst case dates of estimated completion. Often I see equipment that is laying dormant for weeks, otherwise unable to be utilized elsewhere for much of the time. Efficiency I feel could be vastly improved. I'd say it costs a lot more in delays by dragging their heels rather than just getting the job done in a timely manner.

- There have been corruption scandals (Involving Jail sentences) within the organization and this I believe is indicative of a very serious internal culture issue that needs serious looking into and urgent addressing.

It was hoped that in the last Mayoral election that a candidate would pipe up and promise to actually have a good look into this organization and clean Auckland Transport up. Unfortunately not. To be honest, as a ratepayer and commuter, I am utterly exasperated and frustrated at how slow things are getting done in this city and seemingly without any valid reason. The progress towards Transport projects in this city has been nothing short of dismal... Scandalous in fact.

It's really sad that Auckland hasn't come up with a world class transport system (not even NZ class!!). The Orewa/Whangaparoa feeder buses seem to NEVER connect to the City to Silverdale services and there is NO BUS STATION in the "Silverdale Hub" so everyone has to sit in the DARK and RAIN for an ADDITIONAL half an hour for a connection.
THAT's why people aren't using the feeder services!...what a joke!!!
People don't use their cars because they are in love with them, nor because they like sitting in traffic...there are just NO QUALITY alternatives.

I used to be an advocate for Auckland Transport (AT), but not any more. Auckland is the largest city in the country and one of the most desirable city to live in the world. But public transport system is terrible. AT keeps increasing prices without improving their service:
1. Trains
I am everyday train user and experience so many disrupts lately. AT stopped train services recently for maintenance but they still have track faults. Someone should be account for that! If disrupts happened so often in Moscow, the city would have been paralyzed. I am surprised that Aucklanders can tolerate such an incompetence and significant inconvenience. I am sick to accept apologies. Something should be done!
2. Buses
Buses timetable should be adjusted to trains and ferries. I come to train station and have only 5 mins gap to change to bus. Of course AT trains run late and my next bus in an hour (!!!). Ridiculous!!!

3. Mobile app/Boards
Is it so difficult to synchronize app and all information boards around city?

Generally the changes you made to the bus routes are completely inconvenient. In particular for those in the Manukau area, the new stop at the Manukau Rail Station is rediculous. It is a fair walk from the train stop to the Manukau shopping centre and for those who are elderly and disabled, these route changes can have catastrophic consequences for those who find it difficult to get around. You dont even have a shuttle service to help those get to the shopping centre. Its mean spirited and disgraceful.

Once again left waiting for 45 minutes in the rain crammed in a tiny bus shelter in the dark with 9 other people waiting for buses that don't turn up. Misleading electonic signage that keeps saying bus is 3,4,7,2 minutes away but nothing turns up. Ive been here nearly an hour now..nothing. Absolutely horrible. Sad thing is this is normal for AT transport and they clearly don't care because nothing ever changes.

The trains are comedy gold. Do yourself a favour, and install the AT app and marvel at how frequently train services are either delayed or outright cancelled.

Or there s the hilarity that comes when they decide to just remove train stations for totally reasonable periods of time (like the four years that Mt Eden station is closed for).

Reliable. Convenient. Affordable.

Those words all apply if you just ignore public transport and take your car.

Speaking of cars, Erin Hughes mentioned it, and it bears repeating that the Khyber Pass, Broadway intersection bus lane is a ridiculously transparent money making exercise.

Go, AT, go! Be proud.

Policies that are more interested in slowing Auckland down than getting us moving. Tempted there when I was younger and saw first hand they had more interest in making pretty traffic islands than working on traffic not to mention frivolous spending when putting up signs to say when buses were coming. Has anyone noticed the amount of Auckland Transport staff just lurking around Britomart all the time, just chatting. And why can't train managers do the odd checking of hop cards instead of employing inspectors. This morning after 8.00am I caught the 32 bus that comes from town centre and it goes to Sylvia Park, I was waiting for the bus at Kirkbride Road with another lady for it to arrive. I signalled the driver but he kept on going the lady then ran to the bus for it to stop. The lady tagged on and the man that was driving the bus yelled at the lady saying "EXCUSE ME ARE YOU ON THE PHONE OR YOU WAITING TO CATCH THE BUS" As we got on the driver immediately started to drive without waiting for either of us to sit down quickly, the woman stumbled at the back and he said something else. This has happened to me before and I understand bus drivers are just trying to do there job. But there was no need for that kind of behavior. If you could only be nicer everyday because we as passengers see you drivers first thing in the morning. We understand the struggle of having to go through traffic. Understand we are trying to get somewhere too.

I've received a fine 8 months later for a rego to change. I never get any ticket fine on my car so didn't know I've something to pay. NZTA gave a wrong adress to Auckland transport wich wich is a backpacker hostel I was staying for 2 weeks. I told them a long time ago when I change the adress but they never updated.
Result :
NZTA and Auckland Transport use a old system wich is not efficient at all. It will be time for them to grow up and use an email adress when they need to contact someone for fine, and not wait 1 year with extra fine to pay.
Actually I received the fine by the ministry of justice at my workplace, wich is unbelievable! So, why are they waiting so long if they have a way to contact me ? And I never give them my work adress so what should I think?
My personal answer is they don't care to help you, they prefer waiting until you get extra fines and later they contact you in case they afraid you left their country without paying the fines.
The advise I will said too is be careful with Auckland transport, they are THIEF, just here to stole money from people...

Got a ticket for parking at a side of a street with no parking signs or other visible restrictions. Took photos of the street in all directions proving that. Queried the ticket online and attached photos. After several weeks no come back (response should have been within 10 business days ha-ha). I sent a reminder and finally received a mail explaining that that was me who couldn t read the signs (what signs? where?) and that from there I could either go to court or they would get debt collectors involved if I don t pay. Unfortunately, I paid as I don t have time for all that, but regret of every cent that goes to this company from my pocket. Classical monopolist - what s the point of doing things well or be efficient if people would use their services anyway?

Husband and I got pinged with three separate bus lane tickets on Khyber Pass within a couple of weeks, even though we ve lived and driven in that area for 5+ years and have never gotten a single one before. One was from driving in the left lane when it was NOT a bus lane, then you go through the lights by Danny Doolan s and it all of a sudden becomes a bus lane. (Must be for exactly 50m since AT are sneaky like that). So even if you re turning left on to Broadway, you re expected to veer off to the non-bus middle lane, then 2 seconds later, you need to stop and hold up traffic so that you can get back over to the left so that you don t miss your turn. I understand the concept of bus lanes, but instances like these are absolutely ridiculous and make zero logical sense - they re literally a ploy to make money, (and they have made millions from this). Despite this, their public transport remains terrible, which is why more people drive in the first place.

Unreliable, Bus services cancelled but no information given, rail services does not operate every second weekend, big hassle for commuters,

I am writing this again on 02/01/2019. This week AT at its best. Stopped train service completely. Making life hell for the commuters. They have been announcing due to major renovation trains are not running but no improvement done. The truth is when they see not enough people they stop the train services what a big improvement to their mindset. AT is main reason having too many cars on road due to their unreliability and every second week they stop
trains.

Another weekend and again trains are not running. Writing this on 18/01. Trains were just on tracks after 2 weeks long holiday and not running again on 18 and 19 jan. not enough people no train services. AT is on budget.

My friend and I were kicked off a bus as soon as we entered it today for no reason. We had already tagged on and tried tagging off but the driver wouldn t give us time to. Luckily customer service happily returned our money after hearing our recount of this experience. We don t know what we did to the driver but he was immensely rude. He kept repeating get out to us as soon as we got on. He told us to go to the front door after we hooped off from the back door (many people have hopped on from the back, so we thought it was permitted). Then as soon as we arrived to the front he closed the door on our faces and drove off. Ruined our day. Stars only for the Britomart customer service team. They were very understanding.

AT has been working outside our office for the past 24 months, they have no idea what public service is - when fixing a major transport route, one would think they would try to finish road work asap so as to cause minimum inconvenience to the public, not so, they took their time ever so slowly. when everyone is on holiday during Xmas/new year, you would have thought they would use the time to speed up the work, no such luck or foresight, their workers and subbies all go on holiday as well!! totally inconsiderate, inefficient and incompetent. the road works just drag on and on - the cost to tax payers and road users are enormous. what a useless organisation! the work is along Te Atatu Road in Auckland.

I was sitting near a guy who was eating what looked to be yogurt and cereal in a sistema type container on the train this morning. Another guy a few seats away made a complaint to the Train Manager who then relayed this to the passenger. I'm glad that passenger continued having his breakfast. He had a proper container that would do no harm to the train or passengers. Almost every journey in the afternoon I take home on the train, there are girls from Auckland Girls Grammar who are eating McDonalds, with their greasy paper bags sitting on seats, lettuce and mayo spilling out on the seats and floor, drinks sitting on the seats waiting to fall over. Nothing is ever said to them. Auckland Transport, If you are going to make a comment to one person, you need to make it to everyone. I am currently on the (PC4615), bus 133, to Henderson at approx 1807hrs, and the Asian Bus driver almost caused a customer/guy injury. We were all waiting to get on the bus and I JUST managed to hop on the bus and the driver shuts the door on the guy behind me. He had been waiting the same amount of time as all of us and the driver said "I dont have time, I need to focus, if the door shut it shuts". What if he jammed the poor guys fingers or head as he was closing the door. The bus wasnt full so I dont understand why the driver would be such a unreasonable human being. What happen to customer service, respect, humility? If he had injured that guy, the guy would sue the driver let alone the company. Very poor customer service, very poor, very rude, careless and very disgusting. Should really review and look into this behavior, maybe some more customer service training. Also his comment raised some concerns, like 'he needed to focus', it only indicates he isnt confident at his job, therefore he shouldnt be driving at all. Focus on the road ahead and also the lives in his hands. Please address this behavior, cause the next time might not be so lucky!!!

With road works creating a gigantic obstacle course in the CBD and bus & low use bike lanes taking up half the major streets AT has increased their traffic wardens. Homeowners and business owners pay huge rates, car registrations, wofs, insufficient loading zones and then can expect to be ticketed several times a year. This is completely unacceptable and just plain wrong. Won't it be just more fun when more bike lanes go in? (sarcastic)

About Auckland Transport

Auckland Transport: Revolutionizing Auckland's Transportation Services

Auckland Transport is a government organization that is responsible for providing transportation services in Auckland, New Zealand. The company was established in 2010 and has since then been working tirelessly to improve the transportation system of the city. Auckland Transport is committed to providing safe, efficient, and sustainable transport services to its customers.

The company's primary objective is to make traveling around Auckland as easy and convenient as possible. They are responsible for managing all aspects of transportation within the city limits, including roads, footpaths, cycling lanes, parking facilities, and public transport systems.

One of the most significant challenges that Auckland Transport faces is managing traffic congestion within the city. With a population of over 1.6 million people and growing rapidly every year, it can be challenging to keep up with demand for transportation services. However, Auckland Transport has implemented several initiatives aimed at reducing traffic congestion on major routes throughout the city.

One such initiative is their "Travelwise" program which encourages people to use alternative modes of transport such as cycling or walking instead of driving their cars. This program has been successful in reducing traffic congestion during peak hours while also promoting healthy lifestyles among residents.

Another initiative that has been implemented by Auckland Transport is their "Integrated Fare System." This system allows passengers to use a single ticket or card across all modes of public transport within the city limits. This means that passengers can easily switch between buses, trains or ferries without having to purchase separate tickets each time they change mode.

In addition to these initiatives aimed at improving public transport services in Auckland; The company also works closely with local businesses and communities throughout the region on various projects aimed at improving road safety standards while also promoting sustainable travel options like electric vehicles (EVs).
