Poor service ,food cold, bar ran out of draught beer
A mixed bag at best.
I have had visits where the staff were friendly and food was good.
I have also had visits where the staff was rude and uninterested and the food was cold and under cooked.
I would still tentatively go back...
Huge restaurant. Fast efficient service. Food cooked to perfection.
we were well served by a nice and polite gentleman, however, when the food arrived, the presentation of the food was very basic and even poor. the taste of the food on the other had was even worse. my burger specifically was very dry. after few hours my stomach is not feeling well.
Food was ok, usual menu. Proximity to Chessington means loads of kids. I couldn't believe the state of the floor around some tables, which in my opinion says more about the parents than the staff that were left to try to keep the place welcoming. Breakfast however was spot on.
I love this place.Brilliant steaks.Great booze.nice layout. Usually good deals on events like fathers and valentines day.
Was staying at Premier Inn. Ordered a breakfast the same morning and was told by beefeater that I would have to come back in an hour as it wasn't pure booked. When I said I will get a refund a table was made available. I had my 21m old son with me and the waiting time for food was ridiculous considering the standard of food was poor it wasn't worth waiting for. I found the reception really rude and as a result would never eat at a beefeater again
Fantastic family visit, had dinner, breakfast and lunch, very welcoming and kind staff, great food, breakfast was brilliant and the lunch saver menu was great quality
would deffinetley recommend. originally booked in at the shy horse but they had ran out of roast and drinks. beefeaters managed to fit us in even though they was busy on the Sunday and the service was not affected food was really nice. returned here on the Monday for breakfast and a final meal before coming home. plesent staff and nice food through out.
Disappointing. Turn up early for a 7:30pm booking and asked to wait (understandable). Ordered some drinks and had to sit at a dirty table. 7:30 came and went no-one attempted to call us to our table. I could see at least two tables had remained dirty 15 minutes after previous diners had vacated. Food ordered, to be later told there were no jacket potatoes left for son on child's meal. He decided on mash, but his meal arrived with chips. Server promised to bring a separate bowl of mash, never arrived. Husband, asked to swap chips for roast potatoes with his steak and literally just got steak and potatoes no peas or jus as stated on the menu. Only positive was the waitress who remained good spirited throughout, despite being clearly overworked.
Reall nice and clean, food was lovely, staff were friendly
Me, the wife and two kids were staying at Chessington for the night and booked into here for our evening meal.
Before going, we read a horrendous amount of negative reviews but gave then the benefit of doubt none the less..... We should have stayed away!
We arrived and ordered our food, a Sunday roast, a Vegan burger and two kids meals. This arrived 36 minutes later and so we started eating. The food at best was edible, and nothing special. The roast potatoes were cooked from frozen, as we're the Yorkshire puddings.
The onion rings were so soaked in oil they were just non edible. As for the side salad next to the Vegan burger, well that came with a bit of plastic inside! I asked the waiter about it, who then in turn asked the chef. They stated that they only use blue bags for the salad and do not know how that would have happened, I suspect they thought I placed the plastic in there?!
An offer for a 'free' drink was made, to which I politely refused. I asked for the bill to be amended as I wasn't happy paying for a meal that contained plastic in the salad! This was then amended.
We wouldn't return and wished we should have listened to the reviews instead. Save the pain and go elsewhere!
Waiting staff were good. But let down by how long the food took to be served.
Lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere and vibe! Paul made myself and the kids feel welcome right from the start and was so personable throughout the service calling me by my first name and making sure we were ok. Our waitress Sophie was very pretty and professional too. A great team you guys have there, you all seem to get on well and help each other, and the food was delicious! Only thing I didn't get to do was give a tip because I was out of cash and there was no option on the PDQ. Go visit this beefeater though it's brill!
The food was cold sadly. The children's meal had been microwaved a few too many times. They did offer money off.
Not fantastic. Waited ages then order was wrong. Sides missing and fries were cold and rubbery. No squash arrived with the children's meals. Staff were apologetic but if it hadn't been so late in the evening we would have gone somewhere else to eat.
Value for money, good service and friendly helpful staff. We have had a few family meals here, and they always accommodating as regards to seating everybody together. I would recommend that you book to save disappointment.
Nice food but very few staff and you have to wait ages to get service. The experience would be much nicer if there were more staff. The staff who were working are doing their best.
Beefeater for breakfast before a day of rides at Chessington. Definitely the best way to start the day and done this several times. Staff appear pretty overworked with buffet food, drink etc often running out. But it's hot and well worth a visit.
Very poor service, only 2 to cover the restaurant and bar, at lunch time, not very well organised by management
Great. Great service and good food. Handy if your visiting Chessington.
Very good value for money and food was nice but when we visited the staff took a long time to serve. We orderef refills of our drinks and waited 15 mins to get them then had to wait ages for the dessert.
Ordered a steak, the cook on the steak was great however it lacked seasoning. Generally the atmosphere is great and overall an enjoyable time. Staff were very friendly and welcoming as well.
We have eaten in Monkey Puzzle for the last three nights. It's one of the places we always go when we are down at Chessington. The thing that surprises me is that the toilets still have the same hand dryers that do not work very well and are in an awkward position for children to use. The food was nice however on our middle night service was very slow and food was quite cool, we had waited so long for it and didn't have time to wait for anything else.
Rubbish sevice waited over 40 mins for drinks after getting them waited so long to order food we decided to walk out even after complaining about the waiting time
Every time is the same...even after a long gap return hoping for improvement but alas really badly managed which is a shame because the food isn't bad at all...just not enough staff no apparent leadership..young people waiting tables being as nice as they can be but clearly have too many to deal with. Just needs someone to run the place well.
Visited The Monkey Puzzle Wednesday 5th August. The food was excellent, served on hot plates. Huge thanks to Rhys, our server for the evening - helpful, friendly, professional and, by watching him while we ate, hard working. The social distancing was well managed and I and my family enjoyed our evening.
Lovely coffee and right next door to chessington world of adventure's
Gorgeous food. Very busy so waited a while but worth it. Needs to do decaf coffee though
When you walk in its like wow what a beautiful place. That's when we was met by a very rude young lady who was showing people to there seats no manners just no care in the world.
Service excellent and super friendly and the food was deliciously fabulous! Family pub and nothing was too much.
This is a big restaurant link to the hotel next door. There is lots of parking, the restaurant itself is on two levels with a large ground floor and a more intimate upper floor. The menu has been changed lately and the changes are good some really interesting picks. I had tabasco burger and it was very new and very nice. The only downside is that the speed of service is slightly slow for us. We visited on an unbusy day and waited long enough for it to become obvious we were waiting. This might be slightly our fault we decide quickly and eat quickly :) but could service have been a bit quicker. There is a dange that you get "tucked away" upstairs and waiting staff will only see you if they come to check.
Good value for money on what we had. Great service from our server and big portions. Definitely be going again!!!
Wonderful food, came out just on time and was delicious. We were served by Katey and she couldn t do enough to help us, hope she is recognised by Mr Beefeater
Not excited about this place, cold, and food not up to whitbreads standards
Good experiance. full of kids which is to be expected next to a theme park. general pub grub.
Good food, nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly, however it took a long time to get served. The manager was lovely.
Food was gorgeous would highly recommend the Beef and Cheddar pie and the Mixed Grill service was great.
It is a nice looking pub however the food is not very good. The chicken in the mixed grill is dry, the steak in the mixed grill was 50% gristle and the sausages were cheap as they come. I also had a burger which looked very nice but it had plastic in. May have been the patty separator or cling film. I was offered a full refund. So in short the staff are friendly and attentive but the food let's this place down massively. Great shame.
Enjoyed a quiet meal here eith family. Staff very helpful and tolerant of crawling toddler.
Lunch time on a saturday. Firstly, there were not many people in at this time, yet they were fully staffed it seems.
Service was incredibly slow. Waited 30 minutes for our drinks...pepsi's and a pint of lager. Then the food was slow to arrive. We watched our food sit under the heat lamp for ages before anyone brought it over, by this time the chips were going cold. They also got the order incorrect, yet we daren't ask them to correct it and risk waiting another half an hour for the replacement. We were asked which sauces we would like, we said mayo, about half way through finishing our food, it arrives.
All we could think was, what on earth would it have been like if it were busier if the restaurant. Very poor experience for somewhere that should be performing to a much higher standard.
Steak was so dry, nobody asked even if everything ok. Waste of money and time
Food took a little too long to arrive but when it did it was really nice.
Good breakfast, though the coffee wasn't particularly hot. Convenient location and friendly staff who proactively clear the table (great for multiple trips to the buffet!)
Feb '20 - The restaurant currently has broken air conditioning, which cannot be turned off. Subsequently, the restaurant was so cold, that diners wore their winter coats throughout their meal, and unfortunately, the food got cold very quickly too. It's such a shame, because the restaurant offers great food, quick service, extensive menu choice, great value for money & friendly, helpful staff.
Slow, had to change my order twice as they didn't have it. Check out the glass up on the balcony Infront of the serving hatch, dirty
Always liked this place it's very spacious good food & not to expensive
As a chain restaurant you always think the worst but actually this is surprisingly good. Nice tasting food but a great bar area and friendly staff. Also, lots of parking. Well done Beefeater (and I'm vegetarian)
Good breakfast. Replenished the empty dishes pretty quickly. Cheap as always for beefeater. Good service aswell.
My family and I dropped into this restaurant for lunch, one Saturday. The restaurant was almost entirely empty and whilst this means it was peaceful it also means that there weren't many staff working and the kitchen needed time to get started. The food took an age to arrive but it was quite nice once it finally did.
Exellent food, good service n reasonably priced definitely go again
Good food but some of the staff could be more friendly especially considering it wasn't busy
Stayed next door in premiere inn and opted for the meal deal. For 24.99 you get 2 course eve meal and all you can breakfast (brekky inc kids but you have to pay for kids eve meals extra).
Eve meal was good and service was ok.
Brekky was terrible. Plates are cold, dirty cutlery, pastries and croissants are cold. You have to ask a member of staff to take them upstairs to the kitchen to warm them up, you might get it back in 5mins if your lucky. Whilst we were there, the water, coffee, baked beans all ran out.
Food good, service a little slow but felt very safe and socially distanced
Food was good and waitress was very nice, the pub itself is nice inside but unfortunately as with most these places the toilets let it down, seem grubby, the floors and doors are not nice.
We have been staying at the adjoining Premier Inn for the last two nights and have been very well taken care of by superb staff. The food is delicious, and even though the restaurant was busy, we were looked after very well. Definitely recommend the Monkey Puzzle.
Service very slow. Meal was overcooked and dry. Nobody asked how it was. They do not care absolutely about client. Avoid
it was the best chesse on my bologanese eva and luvly pwa
Excellent time here having a meal with my dad after we had been to football
Slow service due to lack of staff that day. Those that had turned up we're brilliant but rushed!
Only ate breakfast here but it wad well prepared quick and tasty. Helpful cheerful staff.
And this place had such promise..... As an allergy dad we have to be careful where my son eats... The management were so helpful..... And that's where it ends. We were so impressed we returned and waited so long for food that we nearly left... When our mains arrived my sons starter was no where to be seen and our sever just left with only ordering half of what we ordered.... Paying was another chore and in the end we just walked up and paid at the till. That was two weeks ago.... We will give it one more go when we return from holiday!
Food better than expected, restaurant clean and well presented and great price but the real clincher was the service! Our waiter (Ollie) bent over backwards for us, he was insanely good!
Good clean venue near chessington world of adventures, perfect for the family
We had an evening meal here and breakfast the following day and both times we had a fantastic experience. The staff cannot do enough for you, especially Rhys our waiter and the blonde lady serving up the juice, jams etc in the morning. They did not let too many people in at once and have screens between the tables with plenty of hand sanitiser stations, we felt entirely protected the whole time. Thank you very much!
Although not busy had to wait a while for drinks and food.
This place should be closed down, the staff are lovely not shame about the main courses.
Service was poor.
Food was very poor.
Dirty place.
Toilets had no paper.
What more can I say except I wont be going back. Shame as it used to be very good.
