Monarch Casino Black Hawk Review

The buffet was clean nice decor service was good. Food selection was limited. One interesting point was no cooked vegetables except cauliflower

Checked in to hotel and I was recognized however took an extremely longtime to get checked in. Hotel was having issues. Another couple skipped the line. I had issues getting free play. The machine to transfered the money did not work. The flyer said I needed to go to Guest Services for a pin. When I went to Guest Services they directed me to yet Another kiosk. Then my free play did not show up on the machine. Turned on the light and no one showed up. I flagged a waitress and she said that she would get someone to help me. No one showed up. I flagged another waitress. The light on the machine for help was runnig the entire time. Waitress said that I need to flag down someone in a red shirt. Called the casino from inside the casino since I could find no red shirt employees. The lady that answered said she would send someone right away. No one showed up. Finally saw red shirt employee. Had to run him down. He showed up 10 minutes later
Found out not true free play. I have to spend money before I get anything even though I got free play from playing. I have been here weekends late night and during the week. No winning at all. Monarch is very tight with any type of winning. I did not win enough to keep playing. It has been this way since Covid. The hotel is nice.

Can't believe you gotta put more than 10 bucks in the machine to get a Beer how stupid is that we'll never going there again and I will make sure I will tell all my friends what a lame place togo

Only thing good here is the food. The casino manager is worthless! All employees we encountered were horrible. Never coming back here. Ameristar is way better

Buffet was expensive for how small it is. The place will be super nice when they are done building the hotel and adding the restaurants.

Hadnt gone to this one for years , but had a good time. Went in with $100, walked out with $500

Stayed there 1 night. Room was clean but the sheets had a hole on them. After the stay had a an unexpected charge on my card for unused amenities fee ($22.18) trying to ask about it i was put on hold, and transferred 6 TIMES!!!! back and forth for 38 mins!!!! Finally got to Valerie which is the MANAGER. Could not do anything for me or help with my frustration, said to call corporate if i wanted to. Needless to say won't be staying nor playing there again.

Very nice, was an excellent spot for our business meeting. The service and attention to our needs was outstanding!

Nice Casino. The seafood buffet was amazing. The crab legs were fresh and hot. And I was able to win some money.. Would definitely visit again..

THEIR MACHINES TOTALLY SUCK UNLESS YOU'RE FILTHY RICH AND DON'T MIND LOSING YOUR MONEY. THEY DO HAVE EXCELLENT CRAB LEGS AND LOBSTER..THE REST OF THEIR BUFFET IS EXCELLENT ALSO

It was very good just that I never win since they go three times I lose more than $ 1,000

I used to win a lot there but since their new Renovations at the parking garage not only myself but other people who have also gone there for years also noticed that they've been losing alot more money since the renovations, and have also been pretty stingy when it comes to the free play. It's only good for 1 month and next month it drops a lot. So I can go to lady Luck, the reserve, the lodge, and ameristar or try some of the other places that have already made their renovations. Their parking garage cost of them a lot of money to build. It's just a theory of mine but I think they're just trying to recoup some of the money and then some from the construction of the parking lot. I will never step foot in Monarch Casino again at least for another couple years until I hear people are having better luck there.

Great place had lots of fun and good service and my dog is allowed in the casino.

The machines are to tight. 200 and didn't win anything. I was disappointed.

A little confusing to manuscripts due to construction, tighter machines than other casinos in Blackhawk.

We really enjoy the Monarch and can't wait for it to open the hotel.

Everything is very beautiful and the food is very rich but expensive, everything there and you never win even if you play a lot $$

They are just starting out so there were points that were really good like the people at Guest Services. But I've never been to a casino where you turn on the service light and no one comes over to see what the problem is.

Great buffet, they have roulette machines which I like because I play at my own pace

The rooms here are so fancy and nice. Amazing stay. Ended up losing money on slots but hey, thats to be expected. You can't go wrong here though.

Buffet lines were horrible. The buffet wasn t very good outside the prime rib. Shocked they charge that much for what was a fairly small buffet. Casino didn t have any of my favorite slot machines and what we did play wasn t any fun.

I enjoy the remodel very much. It's classy. The service is always friendly.

Valet service is horrible,not friendly and get mad if you don't tip them, waitress staff also ,when getting a drink

Love the EV chargers but it would be nice if you converted some of those Tesla chargers to standard plugs, 2 is not enough.

They have a great buffet and we love to play the tables! We stop there every time that we go to Blackhawk.

We use to go here once a week because the crab legs were awesome and the buffet was always stocked! The last 4 times (yes 4 times) the food and service was way under par! I complained to management and I was ignored and brushed off! The crab legs are cold and way over cooked to the point the meat won't come out! The peel and eat shrimp is in a bowl of water so it's soggy and taste like its old! I don't know what has happened but it's a true shame such a great place fell apart! I guess I will go somewhere else when I visit Blackhawk!

Now I can tell that it feels like they make you less of it. For giving them only room for vip cards

Very pleasant experience in this Casino even though we were not staying here. Staff is so helpful and friendly. Clean bathrooms with nice tissue. This will be our hotel of choice if we stay a night in Blackhawk again. The only suggestion I would make it to have seating areas with a simple bench so people can take a break from the Casino area.

We haven't been to Black Hawk in years. Our family who went up with us suggested the Monarch Casino. The shuttle driver was professional and kind. Upon entering the casino, the appearance was inviting(Even with construction). I enjoyed the self-service drink stations ( I was the DD). All the staff we encountered was professional and kind.
There was only one slot machine that was out of order.
I'm not sure if it was just luck, but our entire group was able to play for hours, and my husband and I both left with our pockets a little heavier then when we arrived!
Because it was our first time at the Monarch, we were given complimentary buffets. This was the only disappointment. Our server, was a little screwy. She was sniffing and said she was itchy, but also stated she wasn't contagious. Then after she served our drinks, she decided to take a load off and sat down with us. She spoke about how much she has to work due to being short staffed and how high the turnover rate is. She was friendly but odd. The food itself was ok. We all agreed we would probably never pay cash for the buffet.
It will be interesting to see the casino and hotel when it's all complete.

One of the nicer casinos in blackhawk, has craps which is a plus and plenty of table games.

The place is big, the hotel part looks awesome at the check in desk. Will stay the night sometime.

Tried the new buffet today. 3rd person in line when they opened....so excited, thought all food would be fresh and hot...WRONG! EVERYTHING along the entire line was COLD! Told the waitress and then the hostess...wasted 3 plates of food because I wouldn't eat cold food. No one offered a refund....hostess came back and said "most of the line forgot to turn on hot tables"!!!!
WONT TRY THAT AGAIN!!! TOO EXPENSIVE TO BE OFFERED COLD FOID!!!

2nd time visiting Monarch , normally we usually stay at Ameristar .
Zero cocktail service at the machines and at the tables . Decided to go to the bar , but we re told we would have to pay , even after explaining that no one came to get our drink order . Disappointing after losing $300.
An older gentleman at the bar was rude and didn t want to hear about the slow or non existent cocktail service.
On our way out we confronted Felix the floor manager about the customer service , but no response, clearly our business is not needed or appreciated. Back to Ameristar!

Those slot machines are the worst of all casinos in black hawk, also the buffet is by far the worst of all I ever been too ....save your hard earn money from those thiefs!

Nice place ,but I had very bad experience with the restaurant waitress!

Not very happy with the security here because they stopped me in the parking lot insisting that I was drunk and gave me a hard time getting into my car. They were going to call the police on me for drunk driving but I didn't drink any alcohol. I went to talk to security supervisor and she tried to justify stopping me from leaving. I'm so mad the accused me of being drunk and stopped me from leaving.

Had a great night stay. Played and ate. In all was a good time. Pics of food and the view

Wow.... I grew up in Blackhawk and I tell ya it has surely changed. Monarch is huge. Giant. At least a mile long. But the people where nice. The casino is beautiful and I cannot wait to visit their new up and coming spa. Luxury I'm sure.

One of my favorite place in Blackhawk. I try to go there every time I am up the hill.

For the first casinio you see in blackhawk it's not usually over crowded and the dealers and staff are great.

Beautiful hotel! Slots were loose! New players can get a free buffet after 25 points. The buffet WAS AMAZING!! Lobster tail and prime rib and even Pho! I can't wait for their 500 room hotel to open this summer
