Monarch Casino Black Hawk Review

I love going to this casino first and foremost to eat. The buffet is really good and I think it's a good value for the price. The shuttles to and from the parking are always fast and courteous.

It's a nursing home during the day for sure a bit more lively at night. Food is average at best. Typical Buffett food lots of bland stuff I guess that works for the older folks?

We rented one of the suites. The bathtub was amazing everything about the hotel was great the pool the hot tub the VIP bar.
We also went to the 24/7 restaurant for breakfast and dinner great food. Definitely will be back and stay at the monarch again beautiful hotel.

The gambling was ok.It was hard to get a drink.The food was terrible.I would never get there again.

Free drinks all night and hundreds of different games

Reminds me of another over rated Vegas casino. Go up the highway a little further to Central City and experience a real, old gambling/drinking town.

It was good service people at the buffet rude as hell. Acted like it was an inconvenience for them to get us food. Our waitress was great she was very nice and fun.

Lots of fun and I am looking forward towards the next time.

Overall nice casino. Make sure you sign up for the players reward and after 20 points get a free buffet (which at full price isn't the greatest but free well worth it).

Even with the construction this is still one of the top casinos in Blackhawk. The buffet is delicious. You can tell they are gearing up to take on Ameristar as the premier Casino of Blackhawk and if what they have shown so far is any indication of what is to come Ameristar better watch its back because Monarch will quickly overtake them. I can't wait to see their hotel rooms and Spa in 2019

Update Sept 20:
Monarch is about to open up the hotel and extended gaming floor. Penny slots have been hitting as well as old 3 wheel games and tables are now open.

Monarch is supposed to be the newest best thing in BlackHawk. However, winning at table games is rediculous due to the card counter that they put discarded cards into and it reshuffles after each hand. There are a few machines that hit at certain times during the day, but for the most part they need to step up their game. Drinks flow well, and bands on weekends.

The hotel is super luxurious elegant and very clean ..

This place doesn t expect Digital ID. Had to go to another casino. Kinda crazy for 21 Century.

Room decor is not bad. Did not appreciate hearing the elevator run all night or the poor customer service. Pretty redesign doesn t replace the necessities of common sense and caring for the customer.

The Casino is one of the nicest in Black Hawk Co.
With the new hotel going in! it should be the most modern and exciting!

Wasn't alot of people there when I went, and the roads were clear.

It was alot of fun! If you get a player card you can win a full buffet that has lobster and crab legs by only spending $20.

Never going back, rude employee's, over priced mediocre food. The plumbing wasn't working . Left with a headache

Prefer Monarch over any other. Best rewards program and best buffet! Actually earn points for your time and money! Unlike Ameristar where you play for days on end and earn 2 points ish. :)
Can't wait until the rooms are done and we won't stay at Ameristar any more!

Great environment nice and spread it out for the new pandemic covid-19 various spaceful I like the fact that you do have your own space everybody respects the six feet rule

What is there not to love about Monarch Casino? As long as you go on a weekday, it's usually not too crowded. Furthermore, the staff does a really great job at coming around and tending to your needs. I don't think I ever go more than 30 minutes without getting another drink. Another great thing about monarch, of course, is there all you can eat buffet. I've been to quite a few places in Blackhawk and in Central City, and I have never been able to find a meal deal quite like this one. Seriously, just take the time and get your membership card so that you can get the free buffet and see what I'm talking about. As far as the casino itself goes, everything is pretty top-notch. Never go into Casino expecting to win however even if you lose at Monarch it is still great experience.

A lot of Construction, dining area was a little dirty.

The rooms are updated and lovely. The games are fun and pay decently. First time in a long time we haven't lost our money! Only down side... their coffee is terrible... its a first world problem really, but worth the mention lol. Still had a wonderful time though!

i like to have fun and also eat good foodi recently had a bad customer servicedesk people were rude . the buffet food is not kept fresh specially the sea food . iam afraid that will lead to unhealthy practice by management

This place was clean friendly. And my rewards at it up really fast. We walked over from the aisle because we could never get drinks there. And staff is rude. So the Monarch was the place to go across the street. We ended up liking it a lot more.

Good food nice place I am at work But I still enjoy the ride up the mountain of COLORADO WHERE you can see wild life deers rams elk and there is a look river all most the whole ride. ip

This was the first place we went to and it was wonderful! Slots actually pay out, the staff were great and the atmosphere was beautiful! Will definitely be going back! A+++

My husband and I booked a king corner spa room on the 16th floor to celebrate our 19 year anniversary. We arrived 1 hour before check in and asked to get in early the woman at the counter seemed irritated by my request but said they would be able to accommodate. She the. Said she would call when it was ready. She never called, at 3pm we went back to the hotel lobby to check in. The woman at the counter was once again irritated and told me to have a seat she would get to me in a minute, and that the room was not ready. At 3:27pm we were finally given key to go up to the room. Upon entry it looked beautiful and clean. We finally made our way over to the spa and it s beautiful window view. Unfortunately it was not clean, and it had pubic hair and residue in it. I called down to guest service to ask for some one to come clean it, the woman on the phone apologized and said she would get someone up to the room right away. After waiting just over an hour I finally called guest services back and asked once again for some to please just give me the cleaner and I would take care of it. I even told the woman that I was not trying to complain, I just wanted to clean it so we could use it later that evening. She put me on hold and said I had to speak to a manager. After waiting 15 min on hold it rang back to the woman and when she picked up, she very rudely said I m busy right now and can t help you. The manager will call when she has time and quickly hung up the phone. My husband and I just decided to. Go down to the front desk and request the clean from them. The rude woman who checked us in said go sit down I will get the manager. Finally after 20 min the manager came out. I tried to explain that I was not trying to complain, I do not ask to speak with a manager, I just wanted some cleaner so I could wipe the pubs left behind in the spa by the previous guest. She apologized and said some would be up right away to clean it. 30 min later some came and cleaned it. Waiting 2 hours and 40 minutes after waiting 30 min beyond check in time to just have a clean room in my opinion is unacceptable for an establishment that calls itself a resort. This experience really started our night off with a bad vibe. It set the mood and experience in this establishment to a not so good time. For this reason I would not recommend monarch and will not be staying or playing here again.

Way too crowded to be in the middle of the covid-19 crisis. Had to leave even though they're doing a good job sanitizing things way too many people in one place

Mile High casinos 1 best clean on tell casinos open Central City Blackhawk great machines kind of snow will get in cocktails though can you can park in the garage and do they have a vehicle come pick you up and drop you off in front of the casino excellent

Monarch was great! My first time there and first time in any casino in about 15 years. Won some money at the slots and roulette table. Fun to watch the REAL players who know what they're doing.The Dealers are friendly and informative.
Buffet humongous. As first time members (signing up for their club card) you get a free buffet dinner so long as you spend 25 points gambling. Of course I spent way more!
Breakfast $9.99, lunch $14.99, dinner $24.99. Seniors (Mondays only $15.99).

Valet parking is the way to go but there is self parking and a van to bring you to the casino.
Great improvements ahead so there is construction of the hotel right now (May 2019) From the looks of it it will be awsome. Rooftop pool too.

Our server Rob and our busier Christina are the reason we go to the Monarch to eat! Rob was the first person to serve us at the Monarch Restaurant . Rob has given 110% out of 100 every visit ! Both Rob and Christina make us feel like we're the most important guests every visit ! Thank you Rob and Christina ! The reason I'm giving a 4 star instead of a 5 star is because of the rest of the experience we have without Rob and Christina !

Always a great place to visit, place to play, and wonderful food. Love it!

The table gaming staff here are always the highlight of a visit to Blackhawk. The tables are managed reasonably, the facilities are always well kept and easy to navigate, and the pit staff are efficient and easy to work with.

The machines were screwed down right and the food prices were very unreasonable and the loved by many Buffet is no longer there. Know one is happy at all I spoke with

Definitely one of the nicer casinos in Blackhawk as far as finishes go. If you sign up for their players club card and go wager 50 bucks on slots or 100 bucks on tables or an hour at an actual table they give you a free buffet which was actually pretty good. The prime rib is good and the NY strip steaks are good. As far as winnings go... I lost money here sooo there's that.

Right now it's a little depressing be up in Blackhawk, because due to the virus only slot machine games are open to gamble. So not cards at all, no dice, no roulette, nothing! So not only is it pretty boring but also lost all of my money pretty quickly. Monarch was ok.
