yuck!!!! I dont know how this place passes a health inspection. most disgusting behind the scenes I've ever seen
Wish I coukd break up reviews by part. I go for the buffet sent and usually pretty good last time I went bad batch of crab legs they were almost all pretty inedible and a different Type of crab all together! Usually would rate well on buffet not that day amd then the slots are not loose high max bets.
Nothing to brag about. Their buffet is incredibly expensive and the main lobster they brag about is actually a rock lobster which explains how tiny it was.
Tight tight slots. Mediocre entertainment. Horrible member services.
Great place to to have a lot of fun. The food is darn good too. I had a great day just hanging out.
My first time there an had a wonderful time. The food was great..I'd love to come stay the night sometime. Thank you so much glad I went
Great Buffet..1/2 off monday..shrimp , stone crabs, HUGE king crab legs, prime rib. ham and so much more..and we won a little too.
Had the worst experience at this casino. My friend hit a jackpot for $3100. After dumping $2500 in the place. They took 45 minutes to pay him out. 4 employees and one boss just standing around the escalator. It was apparent this was intentional to keep us spending money. A pretty dirty low down place. Just take your money somewhere else.
Ive won more at the Monarch than anywhere in blackhawk
The only reason why they are receiving 3 stars instead of 1 or 2 is because of their great bartenders! Excellent service (at the bar) and fun live music! **Warning: don't go to the "best buffet in Blackhawk". Small selection & overcooked seafood. Go to Ameristar!
Just love it, visit and you'll see why, just love it.
Very nice environment and I saw lots of staff cleaning and disinfecting.
The casino floor is huge and has a decent selection of machines. Table games are nice, but minimum betting is steep. Not everyone is able to bet such high minimums and just want to enjoy playing. Hotel room was awesome. The beds are comfortable and the room was quiet and was easy to get a great night s sleep. The food experience is where it falls short. The chef inspired food everywhere doesn t leave any simpler choices. The buffet costing $44 is outrageous. Not everyone wants the lobster and crab but just want a typical buffet and salad bar experience. To charge that much is a deal breaker. I took my elderly parents and they couldn t eat $44 worth of food between them. I m not sure I could eat $44 worth of food either. Even the 24/7 bistro was extremely expensive. To have 3 people eat (two had burgers and one had soup) and pay $68 is crazy. Sorry, there is NO burger worth that. Overall enjoyed the stay and the play but you need to have a lot of cash on hand just to eat and sleep.
Food was great but the wait was 1.5 hours to eat at the buffet
Beautiful casino, but no one in my group of 5 won anything. the buffet was only "ok". Nothing made me wasnt to go back.
Had a great dinner , don't usually eat buffet but it was delicious.
Great staff good atmosphere tons of fun and of course I won some $$$$$$
Their advertising is miss leading and their buffet cashiers are rude and unwelcoming.
Great place except it seemed like there was only one cocktail waitress for the whole casino! Got a free buffet for playing at least an hour at the tables for getting my players card that day!
Nice establishment long wait timed for ordering drinks and the kios machines are far and in between and not enough of them
Talk about putting lipstick on a pig. They have improved the appearance tremendously. Unfortunately that has come at the expense of quality food, customer service, and an enjoyable gaming experience. If they ever finish their hotel, I'm sure it will be a great place to stay...but casino/restaurant wise, you will have a better experience at literally any other property on the mountain. There's at least 20, I encourage you to find one.
Buffet was overpriced and disgusting. Building is difficult to navigate. Pillows are hard as a rock. Would definitely NOT stay here again.
Huge casino like the place and people are actually nice winning or losing, good atmosphere to the point you'll be there for hours and won't even feel like that
First time and it was amazing, thank you to all the people working you were all amazing! I will definitely be back
Nice Casino, but ALWAYS busy. Can't really get on machines.
Love this place ! Reminds me of old school Vegas!!!
the discount buffet for seniors on Wednesday is GREAT
Very nice! Most modern designs in black hawk. All recent remodel.
Currently being remodeled but is already a very nice casino. Doesn't get much love due to its location but I definitely recommend coming here to play for a bit
Very nice casino I remember when it was the Riviera totally remodeled putts Ameristar to shame Monarch casino is as good as any Vegas casino way to go Monarch can't wait to see your hotel rooms
Before the hotel was built I would make sure to stop at this casino but with it always having a line all the time now I'm better off wasting my hard earned money at other casinos...the only cool thing is they have like 3 or 4 roulette machines for you roulette addicts but there's a line so go on the week days
Really nice room on the 13th floor no less my lucky number only problem was that the shower drain clogged and I couldn't take much of a shower everything else was great
The buffet is now officially open but not at full capacity you still cannot choose your own food someone will follow you around and serve your food for you the menu is not fully open either but the new remodel is awesome
Had some luck. It's a nice casino. Almost ready for the expansion.
The only reason I gave this hotel 3 stars was because when we arrived for check-in, the system was down. We were told that we would receive a phone call once it was back up. 5 hours later, we decided to swing back by and everything was running smoothly. The front desk personnel told us that she called (we never received a phone call). Once we were finally able to check in, our room key wouldn t work. So yes, I was upset for having to hang around for 5 hours for no reason and then for not being able to get into my room when it was time. Other than this small inconvenience, the room was very nice and we enjoyed our stay.
This casino is absolutely beautiful.
But I've decided to stop gambling, the gambling is always leaving me broke.
Friendly staff especially the buffet staff I know that buffet is not easy having worked in a few kitchens myself but the wait staff and the servers everyone in that kitchen stays friendly I like that good job guys for showing no stress and no frustration in a heavy work volume kitchen with demanding customers thanks
Very nice casino but they don't have many of my slot games.
It was good until I has to go catch a bus and then I missed the bus and they wouldn't let me back in because then they were full and I wasn't important enough. ( not v.i.p.status)
Great place for entertaining your self. Food is good, plenty of sanitary stations throughout the establishment.
I've been to Blackhawk before. But never to the Monarch. My husband and I went on a little get away. Literally a resort in a building. It had really neat architectural design. There was a pool with 3 hot tubs on the top floor of the building. The pool area was beautiful. Outside, on the top floor balcony, were fire pits and very nice seating. We chose to do the all you can eat buffet. Most definitely the best I've been too. The only issue I had the whole time was the lobster was dirty. Still had the nasty stuff inside. But other than that the whole experience was wonderful.
Extremely nice, newly upgraded and added on to casino on par w Ameristar. The buffet is spectacular. Waiting for offers in the mail to check out the rooms, hot tub and pool after hitting the tables.
Even during construction, the service and parking was great.
Casino doesnt have enough blackjack tables, very small compared to others. Buffet was just ok not impressed, lobster was small misding claws and very dry, save your money and go eat buffet elsewhere.
First time visiting this casino- I will not be returning to this one.
Customer service horrible- had issue with a machine and received no help what so ever.
Beautiful casino. Crazy expensive buffet but it was good. (Of course it should be good at $60 a person) and all you can eat buffet but your only allowed one lobster and one round of crab legs. I've never saw that before, especially at that amount per person. Yikes
Only the second time I've been in this place and I liked it it's new it's stylish it's got a restaurant right in the middle of it it's got a buffet upstairs you know unfortunately with covid everything's a little different but still a great place to visit I had a blast
