More than you can see in a day. Downstairs is a small cafe, it interconnects with other museums and displays......incredible!
Free on Thursday all day. It's a great opportunity to save some money and enjoy the MFAH campus.
Yearly Memberships are available as well and include many extra perks including reciprocal free or reduced admission to many other museums through out the country, plus early previews to upcoming ticketed special exhibitions that are hosted by the MFAH as well.
Excellent display of fine arts. New pieces from Spain were great.
First time back in a while. My husband and I didn't realize it was free every Thursday. Thank you
Visited the Van Gogh exhibit. It was one of the most accessible exhibits I have seen. The use of large information plaques made it easy to stand back and enjoy the painting. The exbit was laid out in chronological order and gave a good feel for the artist's development over time. I hope to go back and enjoy the exhit again before it closes in June.
We parked in the museum's parking garage which was very convient. The staff was helpful but unintrusive. If you go on a weekend, plan to get there early. We didn't have any problems, but the lines were out the door by the time we left.
Loved the museum! Amazing collection. Went there for the Van Gogh exhibit.
Stunning exhibits. Gorgeous facilities and great staff. Extremely affordable for the level of work you get to see.
Went here with some friends from overseas and they were fascinated with the amount and quality of art this center carried. The countless amount of works that are world renown rivals that of some national museums. It was kind of crowded when I went a year and pictures were a little hard to take. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience.
Very nice buildings. I am not into art. Took my daughter because she has an art appreciation class paper to do. The art I do like is sculpture and realistic painting. Some very nice peices.
Best art museum in Houston. They are always doing fun events and bringing in great exhibits.
The planetarium is and will always be my favorite thing to do there. Highly recommend. And don't forget to check out the butterfly museum.
This museum is nice, but please don t use flash when you are taking pictures because a crazy Asian lady will come to you and scream at you NO FLASH! Hmm ok, she could have told me nicely I didn t know that we are not allow to use flash when taking pictures. Now I know, but it wasn t a pleasant experience.
Thursday nights part of the museum is free so it made for a great date night.
I always enjoy visiting and have a good time.
Don't forget to visit the gift shop. Enjoy live music and food outside.
Plenty to see and enjoy, between the more permanent exhibits and the always changing lives, to the cinema and other events.
This museum is awesome to doesn't time with friends and family.
none of that good art the Modern art Is horrible but with history to much don't bring your kids but a good history of Greek arts
One of the greatest places I've ever been... Love it, would do it again... Great place..
Great place. They always change their exhibitions so nothing really gets stale. However, there was one time a staff yelled at me because I got just a little too close for her comfort at an exhibit. I wouldn't have minded at all, if she just didnt have to yell so rudely.
I went to the MFA for my art class. The exhibits were amazing. I was in awe at how many artists the museum has. Not to mention the multiple sculptures that were on display. I would definitely love to go back. Especially since they were opening up another section while I was visiting.
Nice and fairly laid-back. We brought our toddler and he did alright but you can't plan to stay long with that age. Free Thursdays is really nice.
Decent collection of art and artifacts from all areas and time periods. Good entrance price as well.
I felt out of place just amongst people. The prices for things are ridiculously expensive, but some art is nice.
I love coming here! The exhibits are great. I love the variety. Beautiful! Great use of your time.
Competent and friendly staff members...excellent exhibits!
It is good fine arts all around the world. Also we had chance to see Van Gogh exhibition.
Amazing! Went to see the Van Gogh exhibit. I had a really great time and thought the museum handled the crowds of people very well. The rest of the museum is very pretty and entertaining. Anybody could spend their day here.
Just go there and see by yourself. Good variety for a collection in Texas... Recommended.
We ve visited art museums around the world, and MFAH is one of our absolute favorites! A wonderful collection and brilliantly curated rotation of exhibitions, there s always something new to see here. We especially loved the Norman Rockwell: American Freedom exhibition.
A must-see site in Houston. With very friendly staff.
It was an Honorable to see the Michelangelo Exhibit. Many Priceless Oil Paintings including the Ceiling.
A lovely art gallery with a selection of Master Pieces and many other beautiful paintings.
We went on a Thursday, which was free!
Give yourself at least 2 hours to slowly walk around.
There is also a lovely cafe for coffee or lunch.
Great museum featuring a lot of artworks ranging from early and medieval art to modern installations.
Went for the van Gogh exhibit and loved it. This is a great museum that everyone in the family could enjoy! It was very crowded the day we went, with people of all ages!
If you are an Art enthusiast or just want to broaden your cultural horizons then the Museum of Fine Arts Houston is the place to visit. The best day to go is on Thursday s, its FREE to the public all day. Beautiful scenic views of downtown Houston located in proximity to the museum, which is really nice if you want to take a leisure stroll. The museum showcases several exhibits, so it is best to check in advance to see which collections are on view. Audio tours are offered for an additional fee, but worth the experience. The museum has a theater as well which shows feature films monthly, the website events calendar and films directory is helpful with dates and times. If you work up and appetite from seeing all the wonderful Art work and artifacts, then you don t have to go too far the museum has a cafe adjacent to the museum. To enjoy and all-inclusive experience of fine art and food then, definitely take a trip to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.
If you can view (really view) everything this place has in one day, you have an iron stamina. At some point, the sheer volume of incredible works just overwhelms you and you need to stop looking at the amazing paintings, inspiring sculptures, and go get a taco or something.
The MFAH pulls in some impressive exhibits from names like Picasso and Michaelangelo. And permanent pieces include works from names equally as well known.
This exhibit just opened this weekend. It's a wonderful exhibit and a little different from other exhibits, in that his art is presented chronologically. Most people, including myself, do not realize that Van Gogh only painted for 10 years. Imagine what he could have done had he lived beyond the age of 37. The exhibit is opened through June 27th. Might want to wait a month to see it to let crowds lessen, but don't miss it!
Really cool museum with variety of exhibits can never go wrong dropping in here. They have extended hours right now & Thurs are free which is pretty cool of them to do.
Very interesting groups of permanent exhibits and usually has a very good special exhibit. Right now there is a Van Gogh exhibit that focuses on the techniques he used rather than on his famous spectacular colorful pictures. His self taught techniques are extremely impressive.
Always something to see and learn. Fun for all ages
One of best most visited museums in the country not to be missed
Wonderful! Beautiful and with great collection. Perfect for all ages. Loved it!
Absolutely love going here. One of the top museums in the country. Going through renovations to improve it. I H-town
Parking is hard to come by unless you pay extra for it and the price usually depends for how long you stay
One of the top art museums in America with a massive variety of some of the best artist to have lived. A must see museum if you are visiting or live here.
Well arranged
Friendly atmosphere.
