Recently visited the Van Gogh exhibit. The use of the space huddled patrons unnecessarily. The most beautiful pieces on loan were reproductions, not original works, which was incredibly misleading from the advertising I had seen.

Compared to previous exhibits, such as larger installations with the concept and limited run automobiles, I was unhappy with how cramped the exhibition space felt.

The senior exhibits haven't been rotated in a very long time, but the Greco-Roman, Egyptian, and Latino artist exhibits had beautiful works.

Considering what you pay, I was left with the impression our ticket prices were subsidizing new buildings.

I've seen better displays of Van Gogh's work at less expensive, better-curated exhibits like the Norton Simon in Pasadena, California.

Upon arrival, we had no clue that there were 3 separate buildings filled with art! There is so much to see that I would need a full week to appreciate all of it! The Van Gogh exhibit costs a bit extra, but I m glad we got to see some of his pieces even though the exhibit itself is mainly Hockney and not Van Gogh. Parking was a bit tricky, but we found a cheaper lot that was only a couple blocks away. All in all, if you re visiting Houston, you have to come here!

I've been to the Fine Arts Museum quite a few times. They have their regular exhibits and have special exhibits that come through periodically. The staff is helpful with navigating through building, asking questions, and protecting art works.

The Ron Mueck exhibit was so interesting. Several of the pieces looked like they could start walking and talking any minute. Realistic and bizarre at the same time.
AAA membership is good for a discount on MFAH membership - a good thing. Parking rates in the garage have gone up - a not-so-good thing.

Loved our visit. Paid extra for Oscar de la Renta exhibit which was cool and included audio. Toured entire thing (both buildings) in about 3 hrs. Excellent cafe and very reasonable. Thursdays get in free and all other weekdays show your receipt from cafe to get in free after noon but before 2pm. Used SpotHero to get a good deal on parking right next to museum garage for over half the price off. Close walk to museum of natural science which we toured before coming.

This is a perfect place to plan a weekend day on (esp if it's hot outside) if the normal run of the mill activities get boring. Lots of cool exhibits and the staff is incredibly helpful in showing you around!

It's got everything. We were lucky to hit it on a free day. We just didn't have enough time. The extra fee to see their impressionist was $23 more. So tempting, but didn't do it. The separate building with a tunnel attached was very cool. It was raining outside so that helped. I enjoyed everything we got to see especially the picasso and of course the van Gogh.

It is very interesting place. For free during holidays. There is a parking spot in the building and is 18 dollars per 4 hours. Nice view and location.

Beautiful art. I am not to fond of the set up for the separation of different art work; I felt like I was walking in a maze. And there was one particular security guard made me feel uncomfortable. I use a walker I have my grandson who is not even to and my daughter was with me and this security guard just talked to us as if though we were going to steal something. But other than that I did enjoy myself but was not able to see all of the art it is a pretty big Museum.

Awesome collection. Just be prepared for the walk, its alot of walking. Plus the people there were alot of people when we went but that's yo be expected. The only negative to the whole this is the guided audio, people would crowd around the art so it made it hard to get to the art to be able to see and they would stand there for like 10 mins at a time and when you asked them to move they would wave the audio in your face.

We used to be members but stopped visiting when my youngest grandchildren were babies. Now that they are able to walk, we've rediscovered that Houston's Museum of Fine Arts is a festival for the eyes. Small children should be curious and enchanted, so be prepared to teach them to talk with you quietly about absolutely everything!

The museum wasn't that bad but i felt very uncomfortable there. It is because i went there with my school and the security guard came up to me and told me to take off my bagpack due to security reasons. It is not the first time i have been discriminated due to my religion but i felt very uncomfortable through out the time i was there.

Great collections from the ancient past to the present. Wide variety of atwork of all genres: water colours, oil paintings, drawings, sculpture, etc. A one day visit won't do it justice. It is alot to take in and all of it enjoyable. Handicap accessible. Friendly helpful staff. There are plenty of restrooms. There is a gift shop and a restaurant/eatery. For all ages.

I highly recommend the MFAH. The exhibits are top notch. I especially like their photography exhibits. Recently they curated an exhibit by Sally Mann which was awesome. Photographer Sally Mann explores what it means to be Southern. For more than 40 years, Mann (born 1951) has made experimental, hauntingly beautiful photographs that address overarching themes of existence: memory, desire, death, and the bonds of family. I had the privilege of seeing Sally Mann when she gave a presentation about 15 years ago. Truly great photographer. This is but one of many exhibits I have enjoyed at the MFAH.
