The first day I felt like I received pretty good care and in a timely fashion. I left with the same pain and symptoms, a recommendation to see a GI doctor ASAP because all the ER's testing showed nothing wrong with me and a Rx for an antacid. I was experiencing acute abdominal pain. That night the pain was much worse, called my primary doctor and they told be to go back to the ER again. This experience was not as good, the physician told me that there is nothing more they could due, the test are normal and go see a GI doctor. I told the ER physician that the GI doctors I called could not get me in from 3-4 weeks or until January. The ER physician called a GI doctor and discharged me to see the GI doctor today at 2:30PM. I called Dr. Reddy's office and they had no record of a call by a physician or had any open appointments. Unbelievable, I called the ER back this morning and they hung up on me twice after a 62 minute wait on hold.

My Father was recently hospitalized fro Congestive Heart Failure. Was there 4.5 days, never offered a bath, no attempt to take him for a walk, did not review medication changes or appts with doctors for follow-up; he had his own Specialists already but was given instructions to follow up with other/new doctors. Poor discharge planning; my Father fell 2 times in the first 2 days after being discharged home.
I do not want my Father to return to this hospital. Oh and by the way, I'm a medical Provider so I do know what lack of care I am reviewing.
I gave birth here recently and the entire family birthing center floor has been nothing short of amazing. Every single nurse I've had, from those with me while having my child, to those I had post partum, have all been so caring and sweet. With having my child in the nursery, every nurse in there was absolutely amazing. They also were extremely caring, and very on top if everything, which can be hard at times dealing with newborns. They all treated my child, my husband and myself with so much kindness. I cant thank every nurse my child and I had enough! I absolutely would give birth here again!
Great nurses and chemo care for leukemia on 4A. Very professional, conscientious, well trained and caring. Through 6 cycles of intense chemo my care has been wonderful.
My mom presented at the ER, registration was easy and she was taken back to be seen promptly. But, she was admitted over 20 hours ago, and we are still lying in the Emergency Department waiting for a bed!!
Addition: After receiving a response to call the customer communications team, called during business hours only to get a recorded message...
Not sure how anyone could give this place less than 5 stars. They are fantastic, nice staff, very attentive, clean and fast. Just finished having surgery today and this place is great. Wish I could remember all the names to thank them individually, but alas drug are clouding my memory. Thanks to all who took care of me today.
Staff was fine, but the billing practices are the "sign here, because even though we take your insurance, the ER doc and maybe some other random people don't accept your insurance, so you really have no option but to get stuck with a nasty bill 4-5 months from now, and since every other hospital does the same darned thing, we're going to continue to ride this until the legislature does something about it, which they won't, because yay capitalism" found throughout the industry.
Very unorganized! The nurse practitioner I had was extremely rude and tried her hardest to rush through my exam causing her to ask the same questions over and over and over again. When I finally got a room, I was put in there and left in there with absolutely no monitoring or call button. I was there for chest pain and being unable to catch my breath. You would think that maybe they might want to monitor my vitals or at least give me the call light in case my condition worsens. Instead, no one came in until I got up to search for the call light to ring it and asked them to kindly put me on the monitor. My blood pressure was high, had a migraine, dizzy, still having chest pain and absolutely no care. After finally doing a blood test and chest X-ray which was neg for any kind of cold or flu infection which is what they had their minds fixated on even though I had zero symptoms pointing in that direction. Big surprise!!! They wanted to send me home! I couldn t believe that they were total and morally okay with sending someone with all these symptoms home rather than admit me and give me a diagnosis. The nurse practitioner said unfortunately this is the way of healthcare. No this is YOUR CARE, and it is disgusting, she has no moral compass, and no empathy for patients suffering. This is not what Dignity Health s team members are supposed to act like. I expected more! I expected excellent care full of compassion, but instead I m leaving full of fear that my symptoms may worsen and the doctors I m supposed to trust to diagnose me didn t care enough to do a little more work to figure it out and of course the huge bill that comes with the terrible encounter. Thanks Dignity Health. I hope this helps others
BY FAR THE WORST HOSPITAL I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO!! They re slow, unprofessional, and pick and choose who they actually help. I went to Mercy Hospital 01/23/2019 at 2pm. I went for abdominal pain that went on for a week, but was told it could have been my appendix, ovaries were twisted, or an ovarian cyst. So I waited 2 hours before being called back from the emergency room. After being called back I was placed in a random hallway with others who came for the same reason as hI. As I m waiting a tall, uncoordinated Caucasian nurse, came and took my blood pressure/vitals. He then pushed around on my lower tummy to see where the discomfort was. He offers me ice chips since I couldn t eat or drink so I said yes. He then leaves. After waiting 2 hours to get an ultrasound, a nice lady completed my ultrasound, I was them escorted back to the hallway to wait on my cat scan. At this point I m still waiting on my ice. After another 2 hours, a nice young man completed my cat scan, then escorted me back into the hallway. Still no ice. I then got up and went and found my nurses desk where he s just sitting in his chair looking bored. I then ask are you still bringing my ice or should I ask someone else? He turns and says oh yeah, you want ice, I can get you ice , I then go back to my little futon and wait. Another hour goes by so I ended up asking the lady who registered me, she quickly brought me ice. As I m eating my ice, waiting for my results, the uncoordinated nurse finally comes and tells me everything looked good and that I had a cyst on my left ovarie, he then turns to walk off. I stop the weird nurse and ask what a cyst even is and how do I get rid of it. He then says it will go away on its own, and starts to walk off again. I stop him again, and ask what do I do for the cramps that come from the cyst and he tells me to keep taking Tylenol and using a heating pad. I tell him that Tylenol and a heating pad obviously weren t working if I was there at the emergency room. He then says he can t give me anything for my pain, so I ask if he can at least write me a work note since work with kids and can t use my heating pad at work. He says no, so I tell him to just get the iv off of me so I could go. After he does so, as I m getting my belongings together I hear him tell the patient next to me she also has a cyst and that he d prescribe her something for pain!! I m not sure if my beautiful melanin skin had something to do with this or what? But it s disgraceful for doctors to think each and everyone of us just wants to get high, some of us just want to get better.
I had a great experience throughout this hospital from the emergency room to staying in for several days .... every single person I came in the contact at this hospital was kind and helpful . I'm bummed out that my insurance is changing this year and if I happen to go to hospital again I can't go to Mercy Gilbert ... I highly recommend this place .
I definitely would not recommend Mercy Gilbert for your labor & delivery needs. We transferred from a birth center because I was exhausted from a very long labor and needed an epidural, sleep and picotin. I contracted an infection in the hospital but they were in no hurry to get me a c section because of the number of scheduled c sections that day. I guess an infection and my baby's heart rate climbing on top of having meconium in my water that broke 12+ hours prior wasn't enough of an emergency for them. They did not respect our wishes for delayed cord clamping or skin to skin. The anaesthesiologist seemed unprepared and I felt my pain checks so he gave me something that made me not be able to remember my first child's birth, something that makes me incredibly sad. Our daughter started having blood sugar & feeding issues but they did not really help us with breastfeeding or try to figure out why she was having trouble, all while I was recovering from a major infection and major surgery and had been sleep deprived for days prior. They whisked her off to the NICU where they did not include us in her treatment plan or really even explain what was going on. We did not understand what she needed to do to get out of the NICU and home until we raised a fuss. Their speech pathologist said her "slight" tongue tie wasn't affecting her, but she started doing MUCH better after we got it released- I suspect that was the primary cause behind most or all of her initial troubles and they didn't catch it or really even discuss it. Throughout my entire stay, I & my husband felt disempowered, set up to fail at every turn, and talked down to by nearly all of the doctors when I asked questions. In the interest of fairness, here is the reason I'm leaving a 1 star instead of 0- it was nice for them to let us stay in a nesting room after I was discharged but my baby was not for as long as they had the room. I also appreciate the labor & delivery nurses and the NICU nurses for trying to get my baby home as fast as they could, and for Dr Couch, one of the neonatalogists being more understanding and reasonable with trying to get her home.
My review is exclusively about the birthing center.
Every single person I interacted with was awesome. I gave birth to my first child on Christmas Day at Mercy Gilbert and I could not have asked for a better experience. All of the medical staff was straightforward with me when it came down to making decisions and they were always kind. My husband and best friend got to be active participants by holding my legs and both got to see the baby be born. My son was born without complications, so he never left my room, even for his first bath and all the testing they need to do (foot sticks, jaundice, etc). Even the food was good!
So an extra big thank you to all the staff that spent their Christmas helping me and my husband welcome our baby boy into the world, I could not have done it without you <3
Emergency room staff was rude and was unhelpful. 2+ hour wait (and still waiting). Triage appears to be first come first serve, not based on condition. Zero compassion.
I visited the emergency room on the evening of Thanksgiving with what turned out to be kidney stones. I was in a lot of pain, they admitted me quickly and addressed the pain first. All of the staff, nurses and doctors seemed to genuinely care and I felt at ease knowing I was in good hands. They explained everything thoroughly and made sure I was well informed of my diagnosis and provided me with everything I need to deal with it. Aside from the fact that I was in an emergency room, they made it a less stressful and painful experience.
Nurses are great but the doctors are horrible I was having a asthma attack and was turning pale and about to faint and they told me to drink water like I'm a fish or something, then I go in with a horrible gall bladder attack and they tell me too drink water again! Like water isn't Jesus, then u get a bill in the mail for thousands of dollars too have a doctor tell u too drink water.....
My wife was admited last night with sever stomach pain, and when the doctor couldn't find a problem, they gave a bs diagnosis. I tried to tell the doc she had what she tried to diagnose, and she has never been in pain like she was in. Doc insisted on trying her recommendations, and the nurse came in and said, " your papers are being printed and the exit is to the left and out the door". No explanation or consulting about meds was conducted, and when we went to get the script, we found out the doc wrot the Rx for a med my wife has a severe allergy to. When we called the hospital to get it corrected, they doctor on staff said thats what the normally prescribe and you would need to come back and be seen again to get a different script. If you have any allergies stay away from this hospital, the over night doctor apparently does not know how to read the allergy chart, and they could care less about fixing their screw up.
NP was very rude. Doctor has no manners. Worst ER ever. My husband was in great deal of pain and had numbness in the right arm. Drugged up and send home. Go to any other ER. Worst experience ever
This was by far the BEST medical center I have ever been to! All the staff was warm & friendly! I am so glad I went to them to have my gallbladder surgery! As long as I live in Arizona I will only go back to them! Thank you & God bless!
My wife had our daughter here a few weeks ago, the birthing room and nurses I give them 5 stars. But I give 1 star due to the fact that after being induced and having our little girl at 9:40 pm. We were told that they didn t have any recovery rooms due to a high volume of unexpected births. So the poor nurse stripped the room to make it comfortable for my wife myself and mother in law. We get woken up 3:30am in the morning telling us they have a room for us and to take our stuff and baby and walk to it. While walking to the room we get told that it s a room for postpartum depressed mothers and that it was the only room available. While my wife was getting into the bed she noticed it was deflating but didn t say anything about it cause she was that tired. The next day when I sat on it I noticed after sitting on it it would deflate where there was weight. My wife mentioned that it did that to her all night but she was to exhausted and tired to make a big deal. That night we mentioned it to our nurse the nurse responds I know nothing about the beds I m just here for mom and the baby. We both shook it off cause we didn t get a good night sleep. The next morning my wife was stressing over the response she got from the nurse. The air mattress bed was unsafe and very uncomfortable and for the nurse not to put that into consideration bothered her a lot. We mentioned it in the comment section of our discharge papers. And the manger came in and apologized telling us they know the beds are old and they will definitely put it an order for that one. Then gives us a $5 coupon to use in the gift shop or cafeteria. We appreciated the nice gesture but for what we pay for after insurance and having good insurance we felt we should of had a better bed. Will not recommend Mercy Gilbert to anyone and use it in the future.
Terrible emergency room. they make ill, elderly people with dementia wait alone in the waiting room and er with no caregiver. How the hell do they expect to get info needed to diagnosis their illness when the patient can't communicate clearly?????
I spoke to Tatiana and I was horrified to here what she went through. The hospital took her relatives rights. I wish more people would know, once you are admitted here you might encounter issues. I also know other people who encountered issues here, nurses are over worked and you are just dollar signs to them. I tried to come here once and I hated how the registration treated me. I walked out #hospitalhorror
When looking back at the birth of my daughter I will always remember what a disappointment Mercy Gilbert Hospital was.
We had our child at Mercy Gilbert in June and could not have been less impressed. Celeste in Labour and Delivery was wonderful and I sincerely hope she finds work with a more professional organization.
We got there while my wife was in labor and I am holding a sleeping 3 year old. They told us to go fetch a wheelchair (she pointed the general direction) and didn't even bother helping a woman in labor who was clearly in pain, up to the 3rd floor. 4 days later when it was time to leave, after our paperwork was done, it took over an hour to find us a wheelchair for discharge.
Our room was small, certainly not worth the prices they charge and 2 of the nurses (not Celeste!) were extremely condescending. We felt very uncomfortable with they way we were treated by them. One nurse even had the nerve to tell my wife she should be able to do it on her own when she requested assistance going to the restroom after her surgery. She did not help my wife at that time so I assisted her.
Prices are out of this world and they prey on patients to nickle and dime them to death for every move they make. Even the nurses seem to be aware of it. When we asked for extra Cordron Tape for her wound we were told it would cheaper to find it elsewhere and the hospital declined to provide the tape requested even though they wrote the prescription and clearly had it as they used it for our stay.
I have BCBS PPO with a $2600 deductible and because of out of network doctors my out of pocket cost was more than $8700 to Mercy Gilbert almost $2000 above my total out of pocket allowance. Total cost of their services exceeded 30k for a normal c-section with no complications.
Having a child is one of the most important times of your life and the last thing you want is to be treated like a number or a bother. I would not recommend Mercy Gilbert to anyone.
Great experience at Mercy Gilbert ER and Phoenix Children's hospital annex. Very attentive, caring and communicative staff watched after my 5 year old with viral pneumonia. They knew how to interact with a child and explain procedures in a simple way w/o adding to her distress. Great job folks!
DO NOT GO HERE! I came in coughing up a lot of blood (half a liter total). Waited around for 48 hours to see a ENT and then was discharged with no diagnosis and nothing more than a "good luck" as I left. They don't care about patients. Go to Mayo or Good Sam instead. COMPLETELY USELESS doctors.
*Edit: Just received a phone call from the billing department being VERY PUSHY saying over and over "How can we take care of this GINORMOUS bill TODAY!?" ...Uhhhh. I got out less than a week ago and I haven't even seen a paper bill with anything itemized. I'm still exhausted from the blood loss. Now this is proof they are all about profit not patients.
**Edit2: Called your number listed below. Karen is at a conference and then on vacation for the next week. Cool. Thanks for caring.
When I thought I might have a hernia on 9/14/2014, I went to Urgent Care to be checked out. The doctor there told me that I might have a hernia even though he never did a hernia examination (and I know what a hernia check is like from past physicals). I was then referred to Mercy Gilbert and sent to the emergency room. After a while, the nurse and doctor came in and checked me out and said that I probably only have a groin strain. Now they are billing the insurance company $700. I feel that they are taking advantage.
The staff and doctors have always been there to watch over me and my family. The doctor Memon and the other doctors in the heart cath lab have been great.
I was in to the ER a week and a half ago. The staff was great. Prompt, friendly, pretty professional. I had some scary symptoms and the nurses and doctor were very kind and reassuring to me. In fact, I was very impressed that the first person I spoke to and who gathered my history was actually the doctor. Doctor Nolan, manning the ER that day, was probably the most interested and involved doctor I've ever encountered. She ordered an MRI, consulted with the specialist for the area, noticed a slight abnormality, so ordered continued testing. She was very thorough. The MRI techs and CT techs appeared to be casually professional. They got the job done in a friendly fashion. All the results came back faster than they said they might. It was impressive at the time. After all the results were in, Dr Nolan went over the results, showing and explaining the MRI abnormality and why I shouldn't be concerned. She said she couldn't explain what was going on with me, but she felt it was nothing to be concerned about. There was one lab test that we had to wait to hear back on, but they should call me with results. I grabbed my discharge papers and went home, confused about why I had my symptoms, but slightly mollified that I wasn't in medical danger. Four days later I hadn't heard anything back about my labs that were supposed to verify that all was well, so I called the hospital. I was told that if they hadn't called me, the results must have been negative... If I wanted to know what the actual results said, I would need to come request my records in person at the hospital, as they couldn't verify my identity over the phone. This was frustrating, since they were supposed to call me over the phone to give me these results in the first place. The real issue started when my mother-in-law, former nurse, came to town for a visit and asked to see my blood work results on my discharge papers. She looked very confused as she asked why I was taking medication for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, herpes, and breast cancer, among others. Apparently my discharge papers instructed me to continue taking these medications I was supposedly on. WTF? I hadn't bothered to look at the details of everything they sent home after going over the results with Dr Nolan at the hospital. My name is on every stage of the paperwork. The medical history has two of my three pregnancies correct, is missing one (that was "resolved" as the paperwork says) at Mercy Gilbert, and has an extra two pregnancies that never occurred, at least for me. The paperwork has me listed as taking about 9 medications for very serious conditions that I don't have, and has instructed me to stop taking the prenatal vitamins that I haven't taken in quite a while (since my last pregnant in 2016). While I don't see anyone else's name on these papers, I can't help but think they belong to someone else. I don't know if my blood work is mine. I don't know if my CT scan is mine. I don't know if my name is on my real results in someone else's discharge papers. I don't know if I'm actually medically ok like Dr Nolan thought, by looking at the results she was given. I do know that I contacted the hospital to discuss this two days ago, and was told that the person I was speaking to needed to take it to their supervisor and I would be called back. I know I was not called back. I called again today and was shunted to somebody's voicemail. I left a message. I have not received a call back. I would not recommend Mercy Gilbert to anyone. I have very strong doubts that they have any sort of accuracy on their tests and communication between departments. Labelling and records input is certainly inaccurate. HIPAA violations are a definite possibility. Make the drive to a more reliable hospital like I will the next time I'm fearing for my well being. I'll update if I ever get a call back with a reasonable explanation for this circus they call a hospital.
Patient checked into the ER when they began coughing up blood. The hospital took some blood and did chest xrays. They were also tested for covid. Shockingly enough, although there were no symptoms, they showed positive for covid. But because they showed positive, they were almost instantly forced and escorted out of the hospital, still completely clueless as to why they were coughing blood. Talk about neglect.
I gave birth to daughter here prematurely and as wonderful as the nurses were during the delivery and the care of ME after, my daughter did not receive the same. With the conditions my daughter had, the nurses knew the help they could give her were limited but continued to "try". She was in this hospital for 2 almost 3 months and finally discharged at 4 pound BUT was septic and were sent home anyway. Me being so young was happy to take her home but the nurses knew my child was going to make it through the night. Luckily I caught how she wasn't eating and not every active so we returned the same night to the hospital and the nurse who cared for her had the nerve to tell me she's glad I brought her back bc if not she would've died and shouldn't have been discharged. I was FURIOUS and was ambulance transferred to the children's hospital in Mesa. They took great care of my daughter and we were sent home within a week of being there. Point is if you deliver at mercy and your child has medical issues DO NOT STAY. transfer you and your baby to chandler regional or the children's hospital ASAP!!!!!
The lack of respect and dignity that they give their patients is horrendous. It's ironic that its owned by Dignity Health. If you feel the need to be mistreated and caged up like an animal then by all means stay at this hospital. Because they are a bunch of number crunching robots at this hospital. There is no caring within their doors. I will be going through the proper channels to file a formal complaint against several doctors and nurses.
You should only come to this ER if you plan to go to another one after so you can get real care. They never have enough rooms, so you're bouncing from spot to spot until they have somewhere to put you. The doctor came in, looked at my feet with multiple blisters for 2 seconds and said yeah there's nothing I can really do unless you were diabetic. Ok, thanks. I'm sure I'll get a huge bill for something I could of googled. He then says if you want us to put ointment and wrap them up for you we can...well yes doing SOMETHING would be nice. I could barely walk and that's the only suggestion he could give along with no type of pain medications. I then waited 20 minutes for someone to come wrap my feet. A nurse came in and asks if I got wrapped yet I said no, she said oh let me go get the supplies. She disappeared for 10 minutes I guess she had to literally make the supplies. After that someone completely different came in with the supplies and wrapped them for me. After getting wrapped I put my socks and shoes on and the nurse who disappeared saw me struggling and she comes to ask if I'm okay walking to my car. I said no and she didn't even do anything so why even ask. She then hands me a stack of paperwork which had 10 pages talking about the same thing over and over but not including the doctor note to excuse me from work for a few days while they healed. I ended up having to come back the next day for the doctor note because I didn't check if I had it, I just thought they would have put it in there automatically since the doctor said he will write it. When I came back, I went to the same place for the note and they looked at me like I was crazy and said "ok we will call you back up". I ended up sitting there waiting for every patient to be called before I did....and it was just for a doctor's note that should of already been prepared. This whole experience was terrible and I wouldn't recommend for anyone to come here. I waited for an hour and was about to get up and leave and then they finally got my note together. Ridiculous. Don't come here.
Delivers my baby here and had a TERRIBLE experience. Would not admit me, no one cared about my well being, very rude triage nurses. Will not be returning for my next child.
Caution! Save yourself a waist of time and money. To me both are just as valuable as good quality care! My wife was attempted to be seen here at Mercy Gilbert this morning around 0730, I cant tell you the care was down right awful and completely unacceptable! she went in for back pain, I can barely walk and two physician came in at the same time asking questions at the same time answering for you and just want to give you drugs! I guess that good if you just want drugs!!!!!! However I have a high allergic reaction to drugs and they still just wanted to push drugs on her not offering any scans to see what might be the issue causing the problem, this hospital told us they were not available! Both of us said, your not listening! your talking at the same time, it was confrontation and down right uncomfortable. She refused their drug treatment and left without resolution. We will be making a formal complaint to both doctors, and this hospital to push multiple doctor into a room at the same time just so they can bill you individually. They did not even check my ID and verified they were talking to the actual patient. Mercy Gilbert gave very poor medical care! Do Not go here, unless you want drugs!
The fastest most efficient and friendly Emergency Room services. We used the online checkin process while on the way to emergency room. A nurse called me less than one minute later then we were being seen within in seconds of arriving. THE BEST EVER STAFF
I hesitate to give high praise only because I d like to keep it my secret but my experience at Mercy Gilbert was excellent. ER intake was reasonable and I felt safe in the waiting room even with COVID concerns. The staff were attentive and personable. I felt through my stay and procedures that I was in good hands.
We had a fantastic experience in the Labor and Delivery Unit. All of the nurses helping my wife through birth were amazing. I can't thank them enough for all of their compassion and professionalism.
If I could give 5+ stars I would. My son had a very minor procedure here today 06/21/2017 (tubes placed in his ears) but we were treated like we were super important. From the time we arrived on the 2nd floor, to the time we were walking out of the door, there was nothing but amazing people around us. I also LOVE the fact that, when we were there, we got to experience a morning "outlook" and prayer over the intercom. That type of atmosphere is hard to find and just to have been a part of it was BEYOND amazing! I just want to give a HUGE shout out to the 2nd floor pre/post op team. You guys were amazing and truly uphold the value of Dignity's meaning: Hello Humankindness.
My brother was admitted via the emergency room for chest pains. While in the emergency room he went into full cardiac arrest (widow maker artery). The ER doctors worked on my brother for over 42 minutes and saved his life (at times they were ready to call it, however, each pushed the other). His chances were slim that he would regain full organ function, however, he will make a full recovery with little or no damage to his heart or other vital organs. Two things happened that day (i believe); #1 God had a hand in his miraculous recovery, #2 he was in the hands of very professional and capable hospital staff. Throughout his recovery, the staff (nurses and doctors alike) were always updating us and keeping us informed and always, always with a positive attitude. I have been to many hospitals (I have boys that are accident prone) and i have never seen such a caring staff. I would definitely recommend them. This hospital, in my opinion, sets the bar.
Had very bad experiences with nursing staff on surgical floor. Filed a complaint which was reworded to suit them. Will inform all doctors that this hospital stay was awful. Sad when a nurse forgets to bring pain medicine.
If you have a baby here, beware getting a newborn hearing test. They contract with a third party provider called Pediatrix for the hearing tests. Look up reviews for Pediatrix and you ll see why I m warning you.
Also, when we were being discharged (at 24 hrs; I got my doctor s and the pediatrician s OK to leave at that point, but the nurse on duty kept saying I should stay another day despite my baby and I being perfectly healthy) the nurse gave us a weird religious lecture. I think it started out as a breastfeeding comment but then she went off on a strange religious tangent. She was nice but this was very uncomfortable.
I was there to have a stent put in and from the time I checked in to the time I checked out it was the best experience I have ever had at a hospital. Everyone was so friendly and seemed so concern. The nurses in pre-op, surgery and after care were wonderful. I can't say enough about Michelle, my nurse after I got to my room. She was super. It was my first time there and it will be my hospital from now on. Guy Sumner
My recent experience at this hospital was wonderful. The facility is well managed, well staffed, and well taken care of. From outpatient to surgery to the 2nd floor, everyone was extremely attentive, caring and very kind. I recommend this facility to anyone who has a medical need, and it will be my hospital of choice in the future.
I was admitted to the emergency room then the hospital to take care of an acute emergency. I was quickly taken care of and diagnosed; so that I could be admtted for immediate care. The staff at both facilities were professional, knowledgable, very responsive and caring. They couldn't do enough to aid in my recovery. The facilites were clean, quite, acceptable food quality, had modern equipment in the room and flexible visiting hours. Except for being ill my overall experience seemed like going to a high end hotel. I have been a patient in about 8 hospitals over the years and rate Mercy as the best hospital I ever visited. Thank you.
If I could give ten stars I would! I had a laparoscopic surgery yesterday. All the nurses in pre and post operative care were phenomenal, especially Sonya. I was absolutely terrified of having general anesthesia, and the nurses and the anesthesiologist were so kind and reassuring. My post operative nurse was wonderful, she was calming and explained aftercare thoroughly to my husband. My surgeon, Dr. Boag, was wonderful, and answered all of my questions before the procedure. I am so glad I had the surgery here. Thank you for helping me through a very scary time :)
I was there today for an outpatient surgery. I received a call a week ago to go over my medical history and any questions. That person was very nice. When I arrived today, I registered and was called back by a very kind nurse (Tara) and also my pre op nurse Juli. Both ladies were helpful, patient, comforting and good at their jobs. Juli kept me giggling while she started my IV and asked me the typical questions. She had a great sense of humor. I was visited by Dr Price my anesthesiologist and Dr Vazquez my surgeon and had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss anything. Then my OR nurse Pauline who was just one more very pleasant and comforting person introduced herself and explained about giving me some medication to relax and moving to the operating room. They were also all very kind and accommodating to my husband through the whole process. When I woke up my husband was by my side and they had already briefed him on all the discharge instructions. I don t remember my post op nurses name due to the drugs but she was pleasant. I guess they were really busy/full and I felt rushed to get out and go home but that didn t change my positive opinion of my experience. I was a bit worried after reading other reviews on MGMC but the bad ones seemed to be about the Emergency room staff and doctors. My experience was great and I would have no reservations about going there again.
We have had both our children here and loved it. I cant compare it to another hospital in regards to that but we loved it. We wanted to try breast feeding for both children and wanted to try to avoid pacifiers and they supported that. I have heard from friends other hospitals and pushed for their babies to have binkies and to not worry about breast feeding but they totally supported our decisions here.
We had our baby here and it was a great experience. They really have a helpful and friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Seems like they all go out of their way to make us happy. Our baby had to stay an extra 10 days and it was still a wonderful experience!
Very horrible staff , common manners are not in this place. No one wants to spend thousands on a hospital visit plus deal with horrible staff. Red head heavy set nurse literally told me my child whose barely 6 months suffering from 101 fever ear ach and stuffy nose wasn t important enough than a lady who came in a hour after I did very very annoying. I will never come to this hospital again based off the staff not the wait want to make this clear.
The Mercy Gilbert Medical Center has a very nice facility. The grounds are well kept and clean on the outside. On the inside the hospital is well-maintained and everything looks sterile. The staff is also courteous and professional. Although there was one challenging employee, it doesn t take away from all the other amazing team members. Overall, everyone was helpful and provided lots of information and assistance. Hope you have the same experience!
worst billing place: I was in Mercy Gilbert Medical Center because it is close to me. I dad a stomach pain. Overall staff were great and I had no issue there. I gave the ER admission all my insurance information upon arrival. While there, I dad a CT scan of stomach. I have a BCBSH of AZ PPO one of the best. I dad a bill 3 months later for that CT scan and I call the # for that bill gave them my insurance info. Two months later I had a bill from collection agency for the same bill and I called them again and gave them my insurance info again to this people. I called my insurance three time and they had no claim yet. Two months later I checked my FICO score and its down 140 points due to the same radiology bill from Mercy Gilbert Hospital. I called the collection place and they never turn my info due so they report it to Trans union due to no pay. Now I have to do the depute for first time in my life. Awful I will never use Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.
I have been to Mercy Gilbert many times for tests and medical procedures. The entire staff are the most caring and professional people I have ever seen. I would recommend their great hospital to everybody!
I had an excellent experience having my surgery here. The nurses were very friendly and comforting. They even put on my favorite music before putting me to sleep. Haha my wife had my son here as well. I've had very poor experience in the emergency room.
I entered Mercy Gilbert through the ER having arrived by ambulance. With sever IG infection my stay covered six days. Every person I encountered in my stay was the most helpful and professional that I could imagine. In my opinion you are a great asset to the community. Thanks for all your service.
Don't ever come here. Especially if you're in pain. They will treat you like you're a junkie looking to score. Came in because I'm in excruciating pain; not sure if I injured myself or what's going on. I have a baby at home I'd much rather be with and I come in here at night because I can't sleep from the pain and before the Dr has even ordered a single test she's already treating me like I'm lying (I'M NOT) because I can't recall a specific incident that caused my finger/ hand pain. She told me to go home and take tylenol. Like I'm not already maxing out on the OTC dosage. Now I'm back in the waiting room crying from pain and feeling embarrassed and mistreated. I will never ever ever come back here and will make sure No one I know ever does. Reading reviews I can see I'm not the only one being treated this way. Do yourself a favor, go to Banner Gateway! Editing to add. As the night goes on my blood pressure continues to rise from the extreme pain I'm in and I'm being told this as I'm being discharged with no relief. Never have I felt so belittled and embarassed to be asking for help.
Compared to BANNER they are a lot better when I was at BANNER desrert they used 2 nurses to draw blood and both kept trying 6 times and could not get blood but at mercy the nurse did it in one try so 5 stars to that nurse plus clean area and nice nurses and they give you a hot blanket if you ask and good manners not like banner desert rude manners...the reason it's not 5 stars is that the doctor could have done a little more and the ultra sound could of checked more areas.
My wife and I decided that this would be the Hospital where our child would be born and I honestly feel we could not made a better choice. The staff was amazing every step of the way especially helping out first time parents dealing with everything we did not know was coming. From the amazing delivery nurses and doctor to the nurses that assisted my wife in her recovery. I can only hope that we will be lucky enough to have our future children delivered by the great people of dignity health.
This is a great hospital! Clean! Have never waited more than 30 minutes to see a Dr. Dr. Price was wonderful & this coming from one who hates most male Drs. The staff are very caring!
I visited because I got a foot injury and couldn't walk. I went into this hospital as it was closest to me and an emergency. They did 2 x-rays and told me my foot was fine and I would be ok in a few days despite severe bruising. They didn't even offer me assistance walking out of the ER even though I was clearly in pain. I had to hop/crawl all the way out to my car by myself. I went to an urgent care facility 2 days later because I was still in pain. Turns out I completely tore a ligament and would need a boot and physical therapy. Walking on it at the hospital probably made it worse. Got charged $700 for this visit. Worst healthcare experience I've ever had.
I'm only giving one star because giving negative stars isn't allowed. I was sent over from urgent care, with possible meningitis. I had a bunch of really uncomfortable and painful symptoms. I sat and waited for about 3 hours (which was understandable. It was a busy Sunday afternoon.) Finally got called back to a room. It was just a chair. Sat there for a while and finally a doctor came in and said "so she wants you tested for meningitis? Gotta stick a needle in your back. Is that ok?" I said if it helps to get me better, yes I am. He says ok, and leaves. Nurse comes in and says I'm gonna move you. So we go to another room with again, just an uncomfortable chair. Sat there for a while. Nurse comes and takes blood, then makes me go back to the waiting room. Sat there for another 5 hours. Another nurse calls my name and asks if I'm ready to go home. I said not really. They didn't look at my rash or even listen to anything I had to say. They call me back to a little room. A female doctor says doctor Torres said absolutely not to the meningitis testing. I said so that's it? I'm leaving with no answers? She said if it gets worse, come back. My discharge paperwork had nothing on it in the diagnosis part. It was blank. No comments. No nothing. I said I am going to fight tooth and nail on paying this bill. It won't happen. I am now over at Dignity ER and they did the meningitis test and are taking great care of me. This hospital is absolute garbage. Avoid at all costs!!!
My wife arrived at the hospital after having her 9th miscarriage. Her midwife had helped her deliver (another miscarriage) our 3-month-old baby at the New Life Midwifery. Unfortunately, after 3 hours of trying, we were unable to deliver the placenta, so we were compelled to go to the hospital. Upon our arrival my wife was placed in a wheel chair and was wheeled back to a room. In her weakened state, she became sick and threw up uncontrollably and then defecated herself. We implored the nurse for help, but instead she visibly showed her discomfort and disappeared - never to return. She was consequently abandoned in the wheel chair - exhausted, humiliated and in danger of losing consciousness and causing further injury to herself.
I am appalled at the callous, uncaring, and unprofessional treatment my wife received - to have been left abandoned in that awful position. When another nurse came, she asked why she was still in the chair and we told her what had happened. She then took care of her and helped her get in the bed.
Our midwife attempted to more fully explain the background of the situation (that we had already delivered the baby, but we needed the placenta removed) but she was treated very rudely and it was made clear that her professional insights were not needed or even worth listening to. Surmising that she would be weak and barely able to talk, my wife had insisted on bringing her midwife with us so that she could speak for her. She knew exactly what had happened (in many respects, even more than she did), and so she was in a much better position to speak on her behalf than she was. Instead, they insisted on talking directly to my wife - completely ignoring our midwife - and also displaying an insensitive, unsympathetic, and arrogant feeling toward my wife's tired, sick, and painful condition. She told them that she had already delivered the baby at the birthing center and that we were there to have a D and C to remove the placenta. They insisted that we needed an ultrasound before they could do anything. After the ultrasound a doctor came in to tell us the "readings" of the ultrasound and with a very somber face he told us that he was very sorry, but there was no baby found during the ultrasound.
My wife, our midwife, and I were both shocked and dumbfounded. They had not been listening to a word we were saying.
Went to our PCP, who said to go to the emergency room. Got there, sat around for four hours, and was discharged without a diagnosis and told to "see a doctor". Here I thought they might have one or two of those at, idk the hospital.
Plus everyone was very rude and in a terrible mood.
I went in for a serious loss of blood due to a miscarriage and was seen in a very decent amount of time. I was taken care of by the docs and nurses. Everything was explained and made clear as to what was happening. I ended up having to have a minor surgery and have to say I was pleased with the process and results. Very professional and kind staff. Thank you for taking good care of me and for comforting us during such a hard time.
Had a wonderful experience with both of my babies' births here, and even had the same nurse both times! Wish I could request her for my third, which I will deliver in a couple weeks, at this hospital again :)
Recently I had a procedure done at this place and I wish I could have gone to Banner instead. Check in was easy, but we waited quite awhile before I was taken back. I don't care how much human kindness the staff is professing to have, when you as a patient ask them not to dig in your hand and they continue to do so leaving you bruised, that's not human kindness. The first nurse went through my arm, then in the back of my hand, the second nurse on my left hand, then they blame it on me saying I am a hard stick: however, I have had IV 's before and other nurses got it in on the first try. They finally called someone from ultra sound to get my IV started and within 1 minute she had it in. They tell my husband the procedure was 45 minutes and 30 minutes in recovery so if he likes he can leave and they will call him when im ready, so he goes to pick up his paycheck and the recovery nurse ( which by the way the recovery room is the same as the patient prep room) seems to be in an all fire hurry to get me out of the one recovery bay, so I explain to him what we were told and he tells me that " on Fridays the real estate around there is very valuable and my husband should not have left the hospital, so he goes to check with another nurse and they put me in a room at the end of the hall, making me feel like I'm in their way. The nurse tried to tell me to get up and change, but I told him I had a cast and couldn't walk so he says " you don't have a wheel chair", again making me feel like im in the way. Is that human kindness? My procedure was on the 10th of November and today is the 13th of November and not one person called me from the hospital to see how im doing, if their was any complications etc., now I have always had my procedures done at Banner but my new Doctor does not have privileges there so I had to go to Mercy Gilbert. At least at Banner they follow up with you, they don't leave you bruised on both hands, and your arms ( two bruises are from the blue rubber band they place on you when they put in the IV). I won't be returning to this hospital any time soon.
We had our first natural born birth. We had a very good experience for a stressful natural birth. All staff at Mercy Gilbert treated us with excellent care and respect. They gave us tremendous respect when our baby was being born because we were not trying to be quite and im sure we made some other patients uncomfortable. Which was not the intention but, natural births are what they are. No pain medication. Staff was well informed and knowledgeable when it came to questions and information. Hospital looks and feels generally clean and comfortable. If there is one word to describe our experience it would be "comfortable".
I would not send my cat to this hospital . The social workers and drs lie to me about my aunt they blame me and talk down to me. I can see all they do is run up insurance and Medicare to pay them . And leave and 80 year old lady in the dust.
Worst emergency room experience in my life!! I've been in quite a few times over the last 3 months and my last 2 visits were less than satisfactory. So on my last visit, I arrived at the ER by ambulance. I was experiencing excruciating back pain to the point of tears. There was absolutely no position that was comfortable or gave me any relief. Enter the doctor who proceeds to go through my chart and states that I have been seen quite a few times and they all my test results are normal. I state that I am very frustrated as doctors can't seem to find what is wrong with me. (I have many more symptoms which are irrelevant to this story). He dismisses my comment by stating that I have no reason to be frustrated. The conversation goes from bad to worse as he is basically saying there is nothing they can do for me and I feel as though I am being reprimanded for going to the emergency room. So after about 15 minutes of him negating my feelings, stating that the pain I have doesn't make anatomical sense, etc... I make a comment that maybe I should go see a psychiatrist since it must all be in my head. The doctor proceeds to say that he is "tired of me putting words in his mouth and is so upset that he is going to leave the room to compose himself." I tried asking "what he was talking about" but he put up his hand up to quiet me and said he would not listen to another word. I have to tell you that I felt like I was in the twilight zone as I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about. So the doctor leaves the room and as I am sitting there tears streaming down my face from the pain, I am getting more and more angry. I'm having a really hard time understanding why any medical professional would basically treat a patient as though they are a bother. Last time I checked, it is the patients who are treated that support the hospital. Patients equal revenue which in turn pays for the doctors' salaries. Bottom line... this doctor was the MOST arrogant, overly sensitive egomaniac I have ever met. I have to question his mental state as well as I have replayed the conversation a thousand times to see how on earth it took such a turn and can't come up with anything. I was also offered no blanket, no pillow. There was also a lady across the hall I could hear complaining to someone that she was being treated like dirt as well. Stay away from this ER - they are horrible - they don't care about you as a patient and treat you like you're disturbing them just by being there. Go to Chandler Regional or any other ER but steer clear of Mercy Gilbert.. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!
I went in there on Tuesday to get my gallbladder removed. I had to go through the emergency room first. I wish I had gotten nurse ratchets name. She put an IV in a vein I never have trouble with and it was infiltrated. She didn't remove it. Instead she said she was going to put it in my hand. I told her not to use that vein because a nurse had attempted to use the same one only 4 days earlier and it didn't work. I still had a hole there. She told me she "was confidant" she could get it in and proceeded to try to insert an IV directly next to the other hole. Obviously, it didn't work and it was extremely painful. A woman had come to take me for a sonogram and I was hoping to get my pain medication before that as I was suffering. The nurse got angry because she had now failed twice so she threw everything on the bed and said "you're just gonna have to go because she's waiting for you and I have other things to do!". At this point I had been waiting for 2 hours for this IV and pain medication. She also still had not removed the other iv and it hurt. After the sonogram she put an IV in my other hand (which hurt because she infiltrated the vein yet again) and I finally got my medication. I told her it burned and didn't feel right and she asked if I wanted her to do it again. I didn't want her to touch me again. She also didn't properly tape the iv down so Everytime I moved it wiggled around causing me more pain. I asked for more tape and she put a little piece of paper tape on it. She had no idea what she was doing and wouldn't accept help when it was offered. I had to remind her that she still hasn't removed the other bad IV. So after another hour she finally took it out. She had long straight reddish hair with a heavy bang. She was rude and incompetent and acted like it was my fault. My mother was ready to go off on her and so was I. Fortunately I was admitted and got away from her. As a result every medication they gave me for my surgery, and recovery, burned like hell and my hand is so swollen and the vein is rock hard. I can't even open a bottle of water without extreme pain in my hand. The nurse in observation couldn't even give me my acid reflux medication because the pain was so bad I couldn't take anymore. My surgeon was Dr ghazanfari and he was fantastic. He gets 5 stars and I have no complaints about him. They sent me to observation overnight and the staff in there were all great. The nurses and desk staff all get 5 stars. Now we get to the hospital Dr. I told him before my surgery that I hadn't had a bowel movement in 5 days. He prescribed me 1 stool softener. I explained that I had taken 4 the night before with no results and needed something stronger. He ignored my request. After my surgery I told him again that I was severely constipated so he had me drink an entire bottle of magnesium citrate. I still didn't go. Meanwhile my hand is killing me from the bad IV and I could feel medication going into my hand and burning because it was still infiltrated. They have menus there but I wasn't asked what I wanted and they sent me some things that fortunately, I knew I wasn't allowed to eat due to my medical conditions so I didn't. The best thing about observation was they offer a TV channel that shows pics and plays sounds of nature. That was awesome. I didn't get to see my surgeon before they released me, only the hospital Dr. I told him I was still constipated and I'd just had my gallbladder removed. He told me I was being discharged and did nothing else. Then they asked me if I wanted a wheelchair to leave or if I wanted to walk out! I've just had surgery and I'm on Dilaudid and they we're gonna let me walk!!!! I insisted on a wheelchair and I'm glad I did because I wasn't steady at all. 4 hours after I got home I had to go to another ER because of the constipation and I had a few hemotomas. I was given a cat scan and my bowels we're completely impacted with feces. I spent 2 and a half hours there emptying out. ER Dr couldn't believe they let me leave like that. Never again!
The hospital takes care of you not only from a medical standpoint. Wide and relaxing spaces, a lot of chairs and comfortable waiting areas. The personnel is professional and kind, from doctors to nurses and volunteers. Visit and pray in the small but welcoming chapel.
This place used to be the best. Now it sucks. Thanks for leaving me in pain. Woild not go again. I'd rather wait 10 hours at banner than 2 hours here. Rude staff.
Mercy Hospitals have never let me down. Mercy Gilbert is no exception. Fast service, zero wait, excellent staff. No complaints. Their billing and after care is fabulous as well. Good Job Guys!
Doctors not there to help. If you are there to see if a doctor can help to figure out the mystery of why you are soo ill. Forget it in today's time doctors are not there to help people. They are more there to see how much money the hospital and the doctors can get out of you and your insurance. Sadly, the days when doctors where there to really figure out why the person is sooo ill and the mystery is solved after a few test. That no longer exist. They are there only to get out all your money and leave you in a limbo. If you a person dies, it looks like they get a bonus. Who know but I am seeing soo much more greed and no more help at all like in the good old days. Doctors were there to really make you better and most of all they were well respected. No they act like god they decide who can live and who has to die.
Had to wait outside for my sister to have pre op testing after 2 hours asked to use the public restroom was told to go across the street to the qt gas station I m 70 walk with a cane and was wearing the damned mask pitiful
